Chapter 2: Stay and work for me!

As usual, The Head receptionist opened the Guild at 1000 on the dot and she would close the doors at 2200 in the evening every day as was her day-to-day routine, setting out all the quests, bounties, and jobs that needed to be done. Check over the work of her juniors and the restaurant/bar staff, meet with other officials in the city, and then finish up any paperwork that needs to be done before the day is out in her former Guild Master Office. The Guild in Axel didn't operate on a 24-hour basis like many of the other guilds scattered across the kingdom of Belzerg, but the Head Receptionist, Manager of the Kitchen, and Lobby Manager often had to stay back an extra hour or two to finish important work. Despite being the beginning point of all adventurers it was quite popular for veterans and business owners to set up shop here and seek out the Guild's advice. (1)
Two years ago, the Guild Master died in the defense Axel alongside several of the then-A-ranked Parties leaving a void that needed to be filled. Often people forget that their peace was due to the old Guild master. It was the reason why Luna took her job as Head Receptionist very seriously. As the second highest-ranked member of the guild with only the vacant Guild Master spot open Luna was probably one of the top-ranking officials in the entire city. And she wasn't averse to using her powers for the guild's benefit. Even if it meant that she was on her back once or twice a year. Who could blame her or her various suitors for her heart? Luna was beautiful. And then there was Kazuma himself who chose to be an Adventurer instead of a specialized class. Luna thought that he was wasting his talent by doing this. The reason many people disliked the adventurer class was because it was a jack-of-all-trades yet master-of-none. With such a class many parties saw him as useless. This was not to her advantage nor the guild's advantage. She knew that rivalries were common, but they could often look past those in the event of a Raid Level Quest. Kazuma, Megumin, and Aqua were sadly one of their strongest yet weakest teams. Boarding the fence between C and D, she honestly hoped that a REAL raid-level Quest would never darken Axel again.
Speaking of guild-related things she noticed that Mitsurugi was at the entrance of the Guild, but he wasn't alone. Two strangers a male and female were with him.
"Strange?" thought Luna.
When Mitsarugi had first arrived in Axel two and a half years ago he had everyone fooled with his nice guy Act. Even Luna had been fooled by that playboy once. It was a well-established practice that strong adventurers, Nobles, and wealthy merchants took multiple spouses, but she didn't think that Mitsarugi would fall prey to that, or at least if he did, he would tell her that he intended himself to be with multiple women. Luna should have known that she was fooling herself into being more than a second wife or mistress. She would spend the next two weeks in her home drunk, sad, and wondering if something was wrong with her. When he next came to the Guild Luna kept it purely professional and even threatened him if he ever made another advance on her.

The man grinned. "Nice to meet you Luna-san. I'm Uzumaki Naruto and this is my long-time companion and partner Otsuki Katsumi. We are requesting to join the Adventurers Guild," said the man making the girl look at him with mild annoyance.
They worded their names similarly to Mitsurugi and that new boy Kazuma. So they were from a different world? Maybe the same as Kazuma and Mitsarugi, that probably meant that they had a sense of HOW the kingdom and world should work instead of WHY it worked the way it did. The Belzerg Kingdom was pretty progressive for what it was. Since Slavery was reserved for those with great debt to the Kingdom, criminals, and prisoners of war. Even then there were laws on how they were to be treated. For instance, a Labor slave couldn't perform the duties of a sex slave. Contracts were created and enforced to the letter as a breach of contract could result in those on the contract suffering life-changing penalties. Naruto and Kasumi took the papers that looked Similar to each other, and it was basic information. Name date of birth, and so on. Both quickly filled it out, before handing it back to Luna. Once that was done Luna directed them to the Orb and explained what it did. It was a measuring tool to get an idea of one's inate skills such as attack, magic, and so on and so forth.

1: Luna's position was never fully established other than she's part of the Guild Staff, but she looks different enough from the others that I can say that she has a high-ranking position and without ever seeing a Guild Master/ Or head warrior I can safely put her as interm Guild Master/ Head Receptionist.
2: I know that officially she's past the Marriageable age, but I upped it and if you thought that she was going to be a blushing virgin when she regularly seduces Kazuma you were mistaken. Also, I'm not going to lie I have a bit of an Issue with the trope that 'Older women' seem to remain virgin's until 'That Guy' Comes along. I'll use it, but it's a bit played out IMO.
