The hallways were already filled with students, all rushing around to class. It was Dr. Oliver's class for the Rangers, but with Dr. Oliver out because of his Ranger powers, the three students weren't really eager to find out who would be taking over.
Kira walked with Ethan and Lucy, the three beginning the short climb to the second floor, where Dr. Oliver's lab sat. The bell had just rung when Conner slipped under the railing and bumped Lucy's shoulder. He glanced at the team. "Have you guys heard from Trent yet?" He asked, feeling Lucy slip her hand into his.
"No, I'm not sure I want to," Kira answered, breathing out.
"We got to make sure he doesn't go off on some poor freshman because the kid won't give him his lunch money," Ethan stated.
The four of them reached the top of the stairs. "Yeah, you know what? I think he's after a little more than a freak grilled cheese." Conner returned.
"And when we know what that is, maybe we can deal," Kira added.
"'Till then, we keep an eye on him," Lucy added, following Kira and Ethan into the classroom. The four of them took seats at the front table, the boys at the end, while the girls sat across from each other. In the middle of a conversation she held with Kira, Conner reached over, grabbed a piece of paper from Lucy's notebook, and crumpled it up. "Really?" The Red Ranger only shrugged.
"Trent Fernandez, please report to the principal's office," Randall called over the PA system. "Trent Fernandez."
Kira rolled her eyes. "Maybe he did bully a kid for his lunch money."
Minutes later, Trent appeared in class, ignoring everyone while he sat down.
"Good for three!" The Blue Ranger cheered, throwing crumpled balls of paper into Devin's camera bag with Conner. "Hey, you guys hear we're supposed to get a new teacher today?"
"Yeah?" Conner asked, accepting the paper handed to him by his girlfriend, smiling when she begrudgingly slid the notebook over to him. "Any guesses?"
Cassidy shoved her way between the Red and Silver Rangers, forcing them apart. "Well, I heard from a very reliable source that it's this 80-year-old woman who used to teach kindergarten in Ohio."
"Really?" Conner turned to her, then glanced at the Silver Guardian with a shrug.
The door opened at that moment, and Principal Randall walked in. "Good morning, class." She spoke. Everyone scrambled back to their seats. "I want you to meet your new teacher. Dr. Anton Mercer."
"Morning, class." Dr. Mercer spoke up, standing next to Randall with a briefcase in his hand.
Kira snorted, turning to Cassidy. "Hey, she looks pretty good for 80."
Devin laughed, earning him a slap on the shoulder from Cassidy. "What? I thought it was funny."
"Dr. Mercer has graciously agreed to take over until your teacher gets back on his feet." Randall brought attention back to herself. "I would like you to treat him with the same respect you would treat Dr. Oliver." She smiled at him.
"Thank you." Dr, mercer muttered to Randall. She walked out of the classroom while he walked to stand before the entire class. "Let me start by saying how honored I am to be here." He pulled sheets of paper from his bag. "What I'm handing out to you now are permission slips. These are for your parents to sign. We'll be going on a field trip to the museum tomorrow. I trust you will all be able to make it."
"Anton Mercer teaching other people's children?" Kira asked. The four Rangers walked from the building together after school let out. "From what I can tell, he doesn't even like his own."
"Yeah, I wonder whose brilliant idea this whole thing was," Ethan commented.
"Had to be Randall's." Kira returned. "Didn't you see them together? It was like they were pals."
"Hey, no matter how bad we've got it back, someone always has it worse." Conner jerked his chin in the direction of the parking lot. The four Rangers spotted Trent arguing with his dad, practically snarling. His father tried to say something, but Trent walked too far from his dad for him to hear.
Kira turned back to her team. "What are you guys going now?"
"Soccer," Conner answered.
"Computer club." Ethan returned after him.
Lucy adjusted my backpack. "Training."
"You always have ninja training," Ethan commented.
"Life of a Guardian." The ninja shrugged, smiling at him. "Mom wants us to train daily, whether I'm with you guys or not." She turned to Kira. "What about you?"
"I promise Dr. O I'd help him inventory some stuff in the lab." The Yellow Ranger answered. "Plus, he'd probably want to know who's teaching his class." She started to walk away. "See ya!"
"Bye, guys." Ethan waved, taking off.
Conner turned to look over at Lucy. "Can I tell you to be careful?" He asked, tugging her to him.
Lucy rolled her eyes. "If you want."
He pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "Be careful."
"You know I will." The smaller brunette turned to look up at him. "Have fun. Score a goal for me, okay?"
"I will." Conner moved from me, walking over to the fields. He turned around. "I'll see you later."
"Get out of here!" Lucy laughed, turning around and heading to where she parked the jeep. The ninja turned over her shoulder to see him watching her leave. "Creep." She laughed, watching Conner get tackled by one of his friends.
"I really don't see what the big problem is," Crystal stated, standing on the stage above the various training platforms, her emerald eyes on the students currently fighting each other. She stood with Lucy; the Silver Ranger coming home to explain everything while she was at school while watching her students.
The two clans of ninjas faced off against each other, one by one, to be evaluated by the Guardians. A daunting task for the students. Most feared the Guardians' evaluations. The two were tough on their students; they had to be. Being in the Eclipse Academy was an honor to most, as most of the students were hand-picked from the other academies to train there.
"He's a doctor in the same field as Dr. Oliver, why shouldn't he be filling in?" Crystal continued, her green gaze never leaving the students.
"Did you miss the whole part where I said he was considered dead for years?" Lucy shot back. She paused. "Maybe he was resurrected."
Crystal rolled her eyes, shaking her head, not really believing what came out of her sister's mouth. "That's outlandish even for you and you tend to say stuff without thinking first, sometimes." Her eyebrows scrunched together, her fingers moving to fiddle with the necklace she wore, the sun pendant clasped firmly between her index finger and thumb as she moved it back and forth on the chain. "What if he was never really dead?"
Lucy turned to her, a curious look on her face. "What?"
"What if the island accident that Dr. Oliver explained was a hoax? A way to get the Power Rangers to come forth, or for Mesogog to arise?" Crystal explained.
"Are you suggesting that Trent's dad is somehow involved with Mesogog?"
The Golden Guardian shrugged, the pendant still in her fingers. "Just a thought. I could be completely wrong about him, but it seems like odd timing, with Dr. O coming out of the amber and all."
"Real odd."
The following morning, all the Rangers climbed out of the bus. They, plus the rest of their class, piled into the museum from the first day open and ready for business. Ethan knocked Lucy's shoulder. "You didn't close it again?" He chuckled.
"Ha-ha." The ninja fakely laughed. "I got lucky last time. Didn't want to chance it this time."
"All right, come along now." Dr. Mercer called from the front of the pack. "We don't want to keep our pre-historic friends waiting." Some students have a half-hearted chuckle at his joke.
Three of the four Rangers stopped in front of Kira, watching her stare up at the golden T-Rex at the front. Conner glanced at it before turning back to her. "What's the matter?"
The Yellow Ranger shrugged. "The thing just gives me a creepy vibe." She answered. "It's like it moved."
"You know Dinosaurs are extinct, right?" Ethan returned. He backtracked when he caught the deadpan look Kira shot him. "Okay, I see your point." He and Conner moved on to follow the rest of the group.
Lucy hung back, sliding next to her. "Is this one of those 'if I stare at it long enough, it will move' type of things." She chuckled, earning one from Kira.
Kira shook her head. "No, it's just…gives me the creeps."
"Do you want me to chant some Latin, cast a spell on it?" The Silver Guardian tried, earning more laughs and a shove from the Yellow Ranger.
"I'm serious."
"I am too." Lucy returned, laughing. "I will chant in Latin and cast a spell on it." When Kira turned back to the dino, she sighed. "Come on; we're gonna get lost." The ninja turned on her heel and made her way inside, catching the tail end of the class.
"And just up ahead, here, is a Triceratops from the Cretaceous period. Strictly herbivores. Hunted by the Tyrannosaurus Rex." Dr. Mercer rattled on, everyone following him.
Conner slapped his hands on Ethan's shoulders, grinning. "Gotta love the T-Rex."
"Whatever, bro." Ethan rolled his eyes.
Conner pulled from him, bumping Lucy's shoulder. "And what's the other one?" He asked quietly. "The one you have?" He grinned down at the girl.
"The Carnotarus," Lucy answered, bumping his arm. "Bigger than the T-Rex. Older, too."
Come to me.
A tug in the back of her mind sent Lucy screeching to a halt, letting the entire class bypass her without a glance. An itch formed in her head, right at the back, like something watched her, trying to reach out. Her toffee-brown eyes scanned her surroundings, turning around slowly, but she picked nothing up. Nothing flanked her and nothing followed her…so why did she have a nagging in the back of her head?
Come to me.
Lucy twisted around violently, stumbling back at the sheer speed she whipped around. The voice…there were two of them. The rough, dark male voice held a tone of demand, like he tried to convince her, control her to come to him. Something in her sang in response, like a tune known only to the Guardian of the Moon.
The other voice sounded…feminine in nature. Soft and melodic. No hints of demand in her voice, like a gentle offer to join. That pit she felt on the second day of school began to swirl again, calm and fluid, nothing like the ferocious flame she developed when the sky turned dark and her powers, one at its lowest, began to rise, like it knew something was going to happen.
"Luce?"
The ninja startled, jerking away from the voice that appeared beside her. Her heartbeat rose erratically as her eyes landed on Conner, a shocked look in his eyes. Her chest rose and fell rapidly before she sighed deeply. "Yes?" She asked, placing a hand on her heart.
"You good?" Conner asked, his eyes inspecting her figure if anything looked off.
"Yeah, I just think I need the bathroom."
The Red Ranger scrunched his nose. "I could have gone the rest of my life without that tidbit."
"It's a naturally occurring thing, brainiac." Lucy returned. "Look, I'll catch up as soon as I get out, okay?"
Conner nodded. "Okay."
"Come to me." The voice sang once more.
The Silver Ranger neared a storage closet in the back of the museum, breathing out. "If I do, I need you out of my head." She muttered, her hand gripping the handle. "I already have one person who shouldn't be in there. I don't need another." She bumped into Kira, who jumped as she whipped around.
"What are you doing here?" Kira hissed.
"I heard something." Lucy bit at the same volume. "What are you doing here?"
"I also heard something." Kira returned. She glanced at the handle. "We gonna check it out?"
"Might as well." Lucy shrugged. The two stepped into the storage room. It was dark and looked mainly abandoned. They moved further into the room when Kira got caught by something. Lucy whipped around, kicking the Tyrannodrone in the stomach. She sent that one back, only for it to be covered by its friends.
The two Rangers nodded to each other, taking half of the pod. Lucy kicked one in the chest, dodging another's punch. She jumped up to avoid a sweep before tucking and rolling to miss another few punches aimed at her. She slammed one to the ground, jumping up to avoid a blade. She got a kick to the back, sending her into the arms of one of the Tyrannodrones.
Kira whipped around to see her best friend struggling. "Lucy!" She called out. She threw a Tyrannodrone away from her just in time to see the brunette stumble back and hit her head on something. That sent the Silver Ranger to the ground.
The Yellow Ranger wasn't lucky. She got grabbed by the Tyrannodrones and hauled over to a shelving unit. She struggled against them. "Let me go!"
"Kira. You must listen to me." The bone head on the shelf sang, his eyes glowing unnaturally white. Kira blinked, fighting the mind control until she couldn't anymore. She turned her gaze to the bones, her eyes a silvery white. "You will do as I command."
Suddenly Kira stumbled back by the force of something, sending her crashing to the ground and the Tyrannodrones scattering. She sat up, blinking and scrambling to her feet. Moving to Lucy, she shook the girl away. "Get up." She barked, waking the girl up.
Lucy groaned. "What happened?"
"I don't know, but they're gone," Kira told her.
"What about the guys?"
Kira stared at her. "Didn't come." She bit. "Get up."
Conner got worried. Worried the second the tour ended, he didn't spot Lucy in the crowd of students. He didn't see Kira either. When the rest of the class left the building, Conner and Ethan slipped away to try and find the two. "Where could they have gone?" Ethan asked, glancing around the museum.
A shadow caught Conner's attention. "There they are." He pointed to where Lucy and Kira jogged to a stop. "Lucy!"
"Kira!" Ethan called at the same time, running to them.
Conner glanced back at Lucy. "Are you all right? What happened?"
Lucy rubbed her forehead. "Yeah, I'm fine." She breathed. "We just got lost."
"Lost?"
"Yeah, as in not found." Kira snarked. "But we're fine. Are we leaving?"
"Yeah, we're leaving," Ethan answered.
"Great. Let's go." The Yellow Ranger took off before any of them could say anything.
Lucy walked up to them. "Anyone else think that was really weird?"
"Glad I'm not the only one." Ethan blinked.
After school, Conner, Ethan, and Lucy sat at one of the tables, both the Red and Blue Rangers positioned where they could see Kira at the bar, her head buried in a book. The Silver Ranger sat across from the two, not talking to either while she read. "Something's not right." Ethan voiced, his eyes trained on the girl.
Hayley walked up to the Yellow Ranger. "Hey, Kira. How come you're not studying with the team?"
"What? We have to do everything together?" Kira muttered.
"Well, no," Hayley answered. "But usually you do, don't you?"
"Not anymore." Kira finally turned to her. "Look, Hayley, I don't mean to be rude, but I need to get this done for Dr. Mercer's class."
Hayley sighed. "I'm never getting used to the sound of that. Dr. Mercer's class."
"Hey," The Ranger snapped. "He's a really good teacher, and we're going to learn a lot from him."
"Okay, whatever you say, Kira." Hayley turned on her heel and marched away, muttering. She handed it off to the boys and Lucy.
The two boys rose from their spots, walking over to her. Conner leaned on the bar top. "Hey, you wanna catch a movie tonight?"
"No."
Conner chuckled. "You know, when someone doesn't want to hang out with people, they usually come up with some sort of excuse." He turned to his girlfriend. "Luce, you wanna go to the movies?"
"Can't."
"See like that," Conner told Kira, then stopped and turned to Lucy. "Wait, what?"
Kira grunted. "Look, I don't feel like spending more time with you guys than I have to, okay?" She snapped, packing up her stuff.
"Okay, ouch," Lucy muttered from her seat, turning to see her friend. "That hurt."
"I have to go. I have something to do." Kira took off from the group.
The Blue Ranger glanced at the Red Ranger. "What's up with her?"
Conner shrugged. "No idea." He moved to stand over the Silver Guardian. "You wanna tell me why you're canceling date night?"
"You wanna tell me why you invited our friends to our date night?" Lucy returned, looking straight up to see Conner upside down. She hummed. "An answer for an answer."
Ethan laughed. "I will leave you two to figure this out." He turned around, walking to the bar.
"I figured you wouldn't mind," Conner answered, shrugging.
Lucy rolled her eyes. "Sometimes, I don't think you think up there." She pointed at his head.
Conner clicked his tongue. "Sorry. I should have asked."
The ninja returned to the textbook on her lap. "Damn straight," She muttered, then froze. "Dear gods, I'm turning into my sister." She sighed, seeing Conner sit back down in his chair. "To answer your question, my mom and Crystal requested that I stay close to the academy with the Trent on the loose."
"Geez, your parents and Crystal are a little overprotective, huh?"
"It's main a fear that I'm gonna go crazy again." The Silver Ranger sighed. "But, the same could be said about you, Con."
The Red Ranger hummed. "I'm overprotective of the team, Luce."
"No, you're protective of the team. You've been overly overprotective of me since you and I started dating."
"Is that what you'd call it…dating?"
"Conner, we've gone on a couple of dates, and I don't think we aren't thinking about anyone else," Lucy answered, flipping a page in the textbook and tracing a finger down the page. "Before you answer that, I know because I haven't heard one comment about another girl at school, right?"
"Yeah,"
"So, hence, I would think that was dating." She hummed seconds later. "I'm a little hurt you wouldn't consider it dating since you kissed my head today at school."
Conner scratched the back of his head. "Yeah, I got made fun of for it at the beginning of practice." He laughed. "Totally worth it."
"Is that why you got tackled?"
"You saw that?"
"How could I miss it after I turned around to see you staring at me like a creep."
Conner pushed himself to his feet just as Ethan returned. "I think we should tell Dr. O," The Blue Ranger spoke, beginning to pack up his things and interrupting the conversation.
"What? That Kira's mad at us?" Lucy returned. "I mean, it might be worth a shot. I'll call Crystal."
Kira stopped running outside of the lab, seeing the stone passage closed. She lifted her morpher, contacting Dr. Oliver. "Dr. O, are you there?" She asked. "It's Kira."
"Yeah, what's up, Kira?"
"I was out jogging, and I think I saw something by the edge of the old forest, by the lake," Kira explained. "Could you check it out for me? I have to head home."
"I'm on my way." Dr. Oliver told her.
"Great, thank you." Kira moved to hide behind a tree, waiting for Dr. Oliver. He burst out of the formation seconds later on his ATV, taking off. She took off, running into the lab. The wall opened up before she entered.
Now…finish the task.
Kira stopped before the box, releasing one of her sonic screams to break the look. She moved to it, ditching the lock and opening the box to pull the bone out.
Excellent. Soon I will be complete then I will rise again.
Her morpher beeped seconds later. "Kira, it's me. I couldn't find anything out here. Are you sure you saw something?"
"Oh, wow, I must have been wrong," Kira spoke in a monotoned voice. "Thanks for checking it out, Dr. O."
"No problem."
Kira turned away from the box, her eyes silvery white.
"So you think Kira's been acting kind of strange?" Dr. Oliver asked.
The three teenagers trailed him down the stairs of the lab. "We just don't know what's wrong with her," Lucy explained, walking before the two boys.
The rock wall slid up, Crystal slipping in under it. "What's going on?"
"Kira's acting weird since the museum." Ethan answered.
Crystal raised an eyebrow. "And that involves me…how?"
Lucy shot her sister a look. "Did you forget you're on a team with her?" She sighed, then turned to the team. "She was fine one minute and biting my head off the next."
"I mean, I didn't say anything to make her mad." Conner supplied.
"Are you sure?" The three Rangers asked together, all facing Conner.
"Sometimes, oh leader, you say things that really make us wonder if you have a brain in that head of yours." Crystal added.
"I promise I didn't say anything." Conner reiterated.
Crystal raised her hands in mock defense. "We just have to cover our bases before we make quantum leaps."
Dr. Oliver turned around with an empty case in his hands. "All right, you three, I think we may have a bigger problem than that. This box contained the last bone of a creature created by Mercer and me years ago."
"What kind of creature?" Conner asked.
"Fossilador." Dr. Oliver answered. "We're trying to create a dinosaur at one time that had the power of mind control. We scrapped it when it got out of hand."
"You know, I always wondered if you were a little bit of an unstable scientist." Crystal pointed to him. "Now I know. Fossilador. With the powers of mind control." She wiggled her fingers near her sister's face, earning a laugh and a shove. "What's next a fire monster's going to pop out of the ground?"
"As long as I had the main support bone, it could never come to life." Dr. Oliver finished explaining.
Crystal pointed to the case. "That's why you locked it away."
"Yes." Dr. Oliver nodded.
"So… who do you think took it?"
"If it wasn't you three or Crystal, and if it wasn't Haley or me, that seriously cuts down the suspects." Dr. Oliver glanced at the Guardians.
The silver ninja scrunched her eyebrows; then everything smoothed out in realization. "…Kira."
The storage door swung open violently. Kira marched into the room, smirking. "I have returned. As you have commanded."
"Good girl. Did you bring it?"
Kira placed it on the shelf. "Yes."
His eyes began to glow. "Excellent." Bones began to float and piece together for a Dinosaur looking monster. "You have served your purpose." He threw his arms out, hitting Kira square in the chest and sending her to the ground, where she hit her head.
The computer beeped. "I am free!" The giant bone dino monster roared. "My time has come at last."
Ethan pointed to the screen. "I'm gonna take a wild stab and say that's your fossil monster."
"Unfortunately, it is."
"Any word from Kira?" Conner asked.
Hayley turned around, shaking her head. "Nothing, but we've been trying."
"Thank you, guys." Dr. Oliver nodded. "Where could she have come in contact with this thing?"
Conner sat up straighter in his chair. "The museum!" He answered. "We went on a field trip with Dr. Mercer."
"Yeah, and she disappeared for a while. When she came back, she started acting all weird." Ethan added.
Lucy perked up. "She ran into me at the storage unit. We fought some Tyrannodrones, but my head hit the ground pretty hard, and I don't exactly remember what happened. When I came back, she was snappy with me."
Crystal narrowed her eyes in thought. "It must have gotten to her when you were out." She snorted, shaking her head. "But what I want to know is how you got knocked out by a shelving unit."
"Tyrannodrones slammed me into it." Lucy bit through grounded teeth. She released her clenched jaw. "Not my finest moment. All I know is I have a raging headache and a bump on the back of my head."
"Okay, Hayley, go to the museum and look for Kira." Dr. Oliver told her. "We'll try to hold this thing off."
"On my way."
Dr. Oliver turned to the four Rangers. "Take the Raptors."
"Don't have to convince me." Conner nodded. "Ready?"
"Ready."
Dino Thunder, Power Up!
Eclipse Ranger, Dino Power!
Dino Power!
Guardian of the Sun!
Guardian of the Moon!
—
"This city is mine!" Fossilador laughed.
"Check out the bones!" Conner pointed out, holding the reigns to his raptor. Lucy sat behind him, her helmeted head trained on the huge bone freak tearing up downtown. Suddenly the two yelled when they were hit with lightning, sending them to the ground.
On the back of Ethan's raptor, Crystal yelled out. She, Ethan, and Dr. Oliver were all hit with the same lightning. They all landed roughly on the ground. "What the hell?" Crystal grumbled, pushing up to see in front of her.
"You're not going anywhere." Zeltrax snarled. "Triptoids."
The jumping henchmen flipped over the downed concrete and steel, skipping into battle. The five Rangers ran at them, all brandishing their swords to fight. Crystal and Lucy had an easy time taking them out. Dr. Oliver faced Zeltrax. He turned around, looking at Conner and Ethan. "You two go on. I'll deal with Zeltrax."
"We've got the Triptoids!" Crystal yelled, slicing another one across the stomach. "Call us if you need extra help!"
Conner nodded. "You got it!"
"Yeah!" Ethan added.
"Brachio!" Dr. Oliver called. The T-rex and Tricera ran at the master, roaring and snarling. Fossilador opened his mouth, releasing cold steam hitting the two zords and scattering them.
—
Hayley felt out of breath by the time she reached the museum. She tried the main door, shaking it violently and sighing. "No." She breathed. She took the stairs down to the secondary door when something stopped her.
"Ma'am, I'm afraid the museum's closed." A man in a security uniform and hat stood at the top of the stairs. "You'll have to come back tomorrow."
"I understand, but I think a high school student may be locked inside," Hayley explained.
"That's impossible. I've checked the building thoroughly." The guard explained.
Hayley shot him a soft smile. "Can't you look just one more time?"
"Well, I supposed I could." The guard smiled at her.
—
Conner and Ethan stopped in front of their zords. "It's go time," Conner called. The two jumped up to make their way into their zord's cockpits. "Activate."
"Megazord," Ethan called.
The two formed most of the Megazord, missing the helmet and chest armor. "Oh, man, look at that guy. This isn't gonna be easy." Conner sighed.
"You read my mind," Ethan noted.
The Megazord charged. They swung down, missing Fossilador. He swung down, hitting the Megazord in the chest. "You can't stop me!" He screamed, beating the Rangers again, sending them stumbling back.
—
"Any word from Kira?" Conner asked.
Crystal slashed a Triptoid, then whipped around to kick another one in the chest. "Nothing yet." She answered, whipping around and slashing another one.
"You gotta hang on." Dr. Oliver advised, hitting two more.
—
Hayley gasped when the security guard opened the storage closet door, finding Kira sprawled on the ground, unconscious. "Kira!" She called, running to her. "Are you all right? Can you hear me?"
Kira rolled her head, blinking up at the redhead. "Yeah, I'm fine. What happened?" Realization hit her. "Oh no, I set that thing—"
"Are you okay to get up?" Hayley asked, interrupting her.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Kira rolled to her side, pushing herself up.
The security guard bent down. "Should I call a doctor?"
"No, I just—I need to get home." The Yellow Ranger scrambled out of the storage room with Hayley on her heels. The two exited the building seconds later. "I can't believe I was responsible for that thing coming alive."
"It wasn't your fault." Hayley reasoned. "You couldn't stop it from controlling your mind in civilian form. Luckily the Guardians' powers will protect them and the guys."
"I'm going over there."
"You sure?"
"Nobody messes with my mind and gets away with it," Kira answered, taking off.
The Megazord sparked, sending the two boys yelling. They struggled to stay on their feet but were shoved back when they heard screeching. "What's that?" Conner asked, making the Megazord turn to the sound.
It was Kira, on the nose of her Pterazord. The zord dodged the attacks coming it's way. "Hang on, guys."
Dino Thunder, Power Up!
Ptera Power!
The Megazord finished combining. "Megazord, online." The Rangers announced.
Ethan nodded, turning to the Yellow Ranger. "Good timing Kira,"
Conner turned his helmeted head to her. "Yeah, we could use the help."
"Don't sweat it, guys." Kira nodded. "Let's blast that bonehead." The Megazord straightened against Fossilador. "Fire lasers!" The Megazord hit Fossilador in the chest with its eye lasers, but Fossilador still stood. "Ptera-rang." The Megazord grabbed the body of the Pterazord, showing it right at Fossilador, taking his hand off.
"Nice try!" Fossilador laughed, regenerating his hand. He opened his mouth, sending steam at the Megazord, pushing them back.
"Just plain nasty." Conner bit.
"Guy's got some serious prehistoric breath," Ethan commented.
"I'm just getting started." Fossilador wrapped his arms around the torso of the Megazord, sending it sparking. Blue lightning covered the Megazord.
Crystal slammed the hilt of her rapier into the stomach of one of the Triptoids, sending him crashing to the ground. She whipped around, kicking one in the chest while avoiding a punch aimed at her helmet. The Gold Ranger swept low, sending a few crashing before she backflipped to avoid a few more. She was kicked into the middle of one of the pods. "Fine." She breathed heavily. "Hard way it is." She called on her staff, spinning it around before she moved.
Planting it on the ground, Crystal used it to push up, hitting a Triptoid in the chest. She spun it around her arm, using the weight to hit one in the face. She twirled it around again, slamming the bottom into the stomach of a Triptoid and throwing him into his pod. Crystal jumped up to avoid a kick, landing on the shoulders of one. She backflipped, sending him crashing to the ground.
Lucy blocked a swing for her, grunting before she twisted them around, throwing him clear across the area. She pushed a kick down, throwing back her arm to hit a Triptoid. She ducked under a swing, pushing his arm down and using him as a shield against an incoming kick. She pushed that Triptoid away, spinning around and blocking another kick.
Pulling her broadsword out, Lucy slashed down, striking the first in the chest. She blocked a swing, punching him in the stomach. She danced around, avoiding kicks and punches as she slashed. She blocked one of the last ones, shoving him back until he was close enough to his group, and slashed down on all of them.
"Looks like you lose again." Dr. Oliver called to the downed General.
When Zeltrax climbed up, he saw Dr. Oliver and the two Guardians behind him. "It matters not, Dr. Oliver. You're Rangers are finished; without them, you will be nothing." He thrusted his sword in the air, disappearing into a portal.
"I still don't know what his problem is." Dr. Oliver commented.
Crystal shouldered her staff. "Years of rage might do that to you. Sounds jealous."
Yelling turned the attention of the three grounded Rangers to where Conner, Kira, and Ethan were getting smoked by Fossilador. "Hang on, guys!" Dr. Oliver called. "Kira! Aim for the spot where you put the missing bone. That's where he is most vulnerable."
"You got it!" Kira nodded, watching the screen. It locked onto the spot. "Locked on. Tyranno-drill." The Megazord powered up, flying past Fossilador and hitting him right in the spot, sending him screaming to the ground.
"Aw, yeah!" The sisters tapped their forearms in celebration.
"So glad you're back to normal, Kira," Ethan commented. The five Rangers made their way down the stairs in the lab. "You were pretty scary there for a while."
"It was a little terrifying," Lucy commented, hanging onto her sister's shoulders.
"I'm so sorry I was mean to you guys." Kira turned to see them.
"Don't worry about it, seriously." Ethan patted her shoulder.
"Yeah, I mean, we're kind of used to it," Conner commented, making everyone turn to him.
Crystal cleared her throat. "See, Conner, that is one of those things you say that make us question if you have a brain."
Conner nodded. "Oh, right. Sorry." He apologized to Kira.
"I'm just glad everything worked out," Kira stated.
The silver ninja made a noise of agreement. "It is weird, though."
Everyone turned to her. "What's that?" Crystal asked, leaning against a table.
"Anton Mercer had this thing in his museum. Why?" Lucy asked, then shook her head. "I only found him because he talked to me."
"He talked to you?" Dr. Oliver climbed to his feet.
"Yeah, he, and a female voice."
Crystal perked up. "Zira?"
"No."
"You sure?"
"I know her voice. Trust me; I spent two weeks with her in my head." The Lunar Guardian bit, then shook her head again. "It sounded…older."
"What the hell is older than her?" Ethan asked, moving to one of the tables.
"There's no specific timeline for when Guardians are chosen," Crystal said, a hand under her chin. "We're about 2,000 years since Kyrah and Zira were Guardians. They were only chosen because a warlord was destroying their village." Crystal sighed. She turned to Dr. Oliver. "Next time you make a dinosaur, don't add mind control." She pointed to him, making the Rangers laugh.
"I'll try not to." Dr. Oliver nodded.
