Summary: Randall and Trent are keeping secrets. And a Card Monster?

It was early morning, and Kira sat on one of the benches under a large oak tree at school, journaling for her new songs. On one bench opposite, Cassidy sat, primping herself with the makeup in her bag, while on the other bench, Ethan and Devin sat face-to-face with cards in their hands.

"Ooh, enchantment spell," Ethan announced, laying a card down. "Now your trolls are under my command."

"Counter-spell, bro. Sorry." Devin placed his card down. "Now they're released and can be set loose on your castle."

Ethan glanced through his cards and placed one down. "Magic arrow card. Now, my archers can get five of your warriors with one shot."

"Not if my warriors are wearing enchanted armor. Thanks very much." Devin countered.

"This is so completely lame," Cassidy complained from the bench, having focused on the tail-end of the conversation.

Kira glanced up. "For once, I actually agree with you, Cassidy."

"You guys have never experienced Dragon War at its fullest potential." Ethan tried.

Devin nodded. "The intelligence and concentration it takes to play this game is more than most people can comprehend."

"Yeah."

"Oh, really? That must be why my six-year-old brother is so into it." Cassidy shot back.

"Besides, Randall will freak out if she catches you," The Yellow Ranger added. "It's against school rules to play cards."

"Dude, can we get back to the game?" Devin asked. "I believe I was about to charge your castle." He placed a card down and smacked his lips together.

Ethan flipped through his cards, his eyes widening for a moment. "No way. It can't be."

"What? What is it?"

Ethan held up a red and white card. "Ruby Dragon card!"

"No, no way. That's impossible!" Devin protested.

Kira rolled her eyes but played along. "What's a Ruby Dragon card?"

"The rarest and most powerful card of them all." Ethan waved it around in his hand. "Nothing can beat it."

"No way, man. I quit." Devin threw his cards down on the pile. "Game over. You win."

"See?" Ethan smiled, staring at the card.

Someone hummed behind them. "You know, sometimes my job is just too easy." Randall walked up, earning groans from both boys.

Ethan turned a fat smile on his face. "Principal Randall... You're looking especially lovely today."

"Mr. James, if your friend, Mr. McKnight, can't pull that off, what makes you think you can?" Randall returned.

"All right, perhaps I can appeal to your sense of compassion?" Ethan tried.

"If I had one, maybe." Randall adjusted her glasses. "But I don't. So, give me the cards now."

"But he just got the Ruby Dragon card." Devin protested.

"Ooh. Well, you keep them, then." Randall played along.

Devin and Ethan laughed. "Really?" The Blue Ranger asked.

"No. Hand them over." Randall held her hand out, smiling as Ethan and Devin glumly piled the cards into her hands. "Now, off to class."

"I can't believe it. I'll never find another one of those." Ethan complained. The four teenagers packed their bags up and left.

Randall turned around, pulling the dragon card from the pile. "Well, well, well… What do we have here? You look like you'd make quite a fine monster."

"Okay, we've got Stegosaurus, Brachiosaurus, and Brontosaurus." Dr. Oliver turned from the chalkboard, where he had a drawing of a stegosaurus on the board, thanks to the Guardian in his class. "What are some other herbivores from that era?" The whole class remained silent as they either paid attention or didn't, and the Rangers were barely paying attention. "Ethan, you should know this. Ethan, you all right?" Ethan didn't answer either time. Dr. Oliver sighed. "Could somebody tell me what the problem is?"

Kira raised her hand. "It's Principal Randall." She announced. "She took Devin and Ethan's Dragon War cards."

"Dragon War." Dr. Oliver repeated. "Isn't that a kids game?"

"Come on. It's a game of strategy for all ages." Ethan protested, earning laughs from the entire class. He glanced around to see students in the back laughing.

"Well, I hate to side with Randall on this, but you know you can't play cards at school." Dr. Oliver reasoned.

"Dr. O, she took the Ruby Dragon card." Ethan objected.

"Yeah, Dr Oliver. It was brutal, man." Devin added.

"All right, look. I'll talk to her after school. Maybe I can get them back. But for now, can you guys please pay attention?" Dr Oliver asked.

Ethan smiled. "Hey, anything for you, Dr. O."

Randall stood in her office. She lifted the dragon card from the drawer in her desk. "Now, let's go make you into something big and nasty to defeat the Power Rangers."

Tommy slipped into her office, watching Principal Randall transform into Elsa. He took his glasses off. "I knew there was something I didn't like about you."

Elsa turned around. "I was wondering how long I could pull this off."

"I'll give you credit. We should've seen it. Well, it looks like it's all over, ''Ms Randall''." Tommy stated.

"It's a shame, Tommy." Elsa returned. "We could have had something."

"Dream on."

Elsa jumped up on her desk, kicking high. Tommy ducked. Elsa jumped off, allowing Tommy to kick. She blocked, then stopped his punch. The two traded swings, blocking until Elsa spun them around. Tommy pushed her arms up, and the two high-fived, but it was more powerful than Tommy anticipated, and he fell to the ground. Elsa transformed back into Randall and took off.

Tommy lifted his gem. "Ethan, get the others. I just found out something about Principal Randall you won't believe." He climbed to his feet, pushing off and out of the office to find Randall walking away. "You're not going anywhere."

Randall turned around and attacked. The two kicked at each other, missing. Randall swung over Tommy's head. He swung and missed, whipping around into a stance. Randal charged again, kicking up. Tommy stopped it, stopping her arms until he sent her twisting back.

The two charged again, performing a series of kicks over each other until Tommy stumbled back into one of the benches on the front lawn. Randal came at him, but Tommy defended himself with kicks until Randal caught his foot and spun him around.

The bell rang, releasing all the students from class as Randall and Tommy continued to fight. Tommy rolled to avoid a moving kick, Dancing and dodging to avoid her swings.

All the Rangers walked out of class, Lucy grabbing Conner's jacket and Kira's sleeve, her mouth agape as she stared at her teacher and principal fighting. Kira mirrored her look. "Okay, do you think Dr. O's going over the top trying to get Ethan's card back?" The Yellow Ranger asked.

Trent glanced at her. "Maybe he knows something we don't."

Conner scoffed. "Like what?"

"I don't know. There got to be a reason he's fighting her." Trent argued.

Cassidy smiled from the edge of the lawn. "Oh my gosh. This could be the story of the year—principal and teacher at war over Dragon Wars. Get your camera."

"My mom will never believe this," Devin stated.

"So, start filming!"

"Right." Devin scrambled for his gear.

"What's Dr O doing? He is so going to get fired." Conner asked, not tearing his eyes away from the fight.

Ethan stopped by them. "It's Elsa."

Lucy's eyebrows scrunched. "Who?" She asked. "Randall?"

Everyone turned to see Randall flipping through the air, transforming into Mesogog's demented general. The students screamed, running away while the Rangers and Cassidy couldn't only stare. Cassidy turned when Devin ran from his spot. "Hey, where are you going?" She ran after him.

"You fight well for a science teacher," Elsa announced.

"You're not bad for a principal." Dr. Oliver returned.

"Former principal." Elsa snapped. "Tell the school board I resign." She threw her arm up and disappeared.

"Wait!" Ethan yelled, taking a step forward. "Don't go."

"Don't go? Are you kidding?" Conner asked, not believing the word coming out of Ethan's mouth.

"She has the Ruby Dragon card."

The Rangers walked through the parking lot. "I can't believe we didn't work it out. They look exactly the same, except one has glasses." Conner muttered.

"Hey, Clark Kent and Superman look the same, but no one ever put that together." Ethan supplied.

"Still, I feel dumb," Lucy mentioned, shaking her head.

"I just can't believe she got the Ruby Dragon card. I have been looking for that card since I was a kid." Ethan explained.

"Look, maybe I can do something about it." Trent voiced.

Everyone stopped. "Like what?" Conner asked.

"I don't know. Maybe I can think of something." Trent chuckled, backing away. "Just leave it to me." He took off.

The Rangers exchanged glances. "What was that about?" Lucy asked.

"Well, don't ask me. I can't figure him out any easier than you guys can." Kira stated.

Dr. Oliver walked over to them. "We're still meeting for training at the edge of Muir Woods?" He asked.

"Yeah, we'll be there," Conner confirmed.

Lucy scrunched her brows together. "Dr. O, who do you think our new principal will be?" She glanced at the confused look. "All I know is someone needs to screen better."

"That's a good question. I'm going to the school board to let them know." Dr. Oliver stated. "And I will let them know that. See you."

"See ya." The Rangers took off.

Elsa held a rose-colored container with the card in the center. "Now, my little Ruby Dragon, with the flick of a switch, you're going to make a wonderful new creature that will destroy those awful Power Rangers." She placed it in the genorandomizer.

"A little more free time on your hands now, Elsa?" Elsa turned around to find Trent standing behind her. "I mean, now that your secret's out."

"What are you doing here?"

Trent shrugged. "Is it so wrong for a kid to come visit his father at his work?"

"Is that supposed to be amusing?" Elsa lowly snarked.

Trent scoffed. "Actually, I'm here for a reason." He stated. "I want the card back."

"And just like that…" Elsa snapped. "I'm supposed to hand it over to you, huh?"

"You think my father will be happy when he finds out you blew it at the school?" Trent stepped closer to Elsa.

"No happier than your Ranger pals will be when they find out you've been keeping your daddy's secret identity from them." Elsa stepped even closer. She laughed when Trent didn't answer. "What's this? Silence?"

"Give me the card back, Elsa."

"Come and get it." Elsa challenged.

"Fine." Trent turned away and then threw a punch. Elsa blocked. The two threw punch after punch, not getting a hit on each other. Trent grabbed her outstretched arm, shoved her back, and then kicked her back. Elsa landed in a crouch. Trent charged again. He kicked up. Elsa doted, back-flipping to avoid a sweeping kick. She went low while Trent kicked over her wide kick. He spun around into a stance.

Trent kicked up. Elsa dodged and kicked up. Trent blocked and kicked once more, landing to sweep again. Elsa pushed up, clinging to the ceiling. She readjusted so that her legs held her between one of the skylights, grabbing Trent's hands and spinning him around.

Elsa spun around to the ground while Trent flipped to his feet. She charged again, kicking low while Elsa flew through the air. She landed, charging. Trent took off, pushing off a table to boot, but Elsa missed, using the table to do the same thing; only Trent crashed back against the genorandomizer, causing an explosion that sent the machine whirling to life. It lifted the card, activating it.

Elsa smiled, watching the machine hiss as it formed a monster. The doors swung open, and a replication of the Ruby Dragon stepped out. "What are your orders?" He asked.

Trent rose to his feet in horror.

Elsa pointed to Trent. "Get him! He's your enemy." She ordered. The dragon turned, firing red-eye beams at Trent, sending the Ranger to the ground. Elsa smirked, walking forward. "Well done." She placed a hand under the dragon's chin. "You take direction. That's a good sign. And now for your next trick." She laughed.

The Rangers stood out in the forest, watching Dr. Oliver set up training with help from the sisters. The two worked efficiently, setting everything up. Conner glanced around, then returned to the three as the four high schoolers let Crystal and Dr. Oliver in on their thoughts. "I don't know, Dr Oliver. I mean, he's been acting kinda weird lately. Like there's something he's not telling us."

"Well, dude, you have to admit, Trent isn't exactly the most open about what's going on with him," Ethan stated.

Crystal leaned over to Lucy, brushing leaves from her uniform. "Doubt festers."

"Trust breaks." Lucy finished, pinning the last target into place. "I know." She and Crystal walked back over to the Rangers. "But what was up with him going after the Ruby Dragon card?"

Dr. Oliver sighed. "He'll be here. He probably got hung up at the Cyber Cafe."

Snarling had the six Rangers turning to find a replica of the Ruby Dragon, only…it was alive. Ethan nodded to it. "Speaking of the Ruby Dragon card…."

"Elsa didn't waste any time," Conner stated.

"And if Trent went after the card," Crystal added.

Ethan shook his head. "Not good."

"We'll find Trent later." Dr. Oliver told the team. "Now we have more pressing things to deal with."

"Right." Conner stepped forward. "Ready?"

"Ready!"

Dino Thunder, Power Up!

Eclipse Ranger, Dino Power!

Super Dino Mode!

Guardian of the Moon!

Guardian of the Sun!

Dr. Oliver attacked first, pushing to flip through the air, using the spikes on his boot to strike. Kira and Ethan used his shoulders to fly through the air, slicing down. Conner ran at him, grabbing him by the collar, racing him through the forest, and slamming him into a tree.

Mercer walked into Mesogog's lab. "Trent." He stated, running to his downed son, unconscious on the floor. "Trent? Trent? Trent, what happened?" Trent groaned, lifting his head. "Are you all right?"

Trent hoisted himself up with help from his father. "Yeah. I'm just a little dizzy."

Mercer glanced around. "Elsa. Where's Elsa?"

"I don't know. The last thing I remember is…." Trent caught the pained look of his father, stumbling. "No." He cried out, grabbing onto Mercer to hold him steady. "Not now. You've gotta fight this."

Mercer fell. "I can't. It's getting too strong." He pressed a hand to the side of his face. "You have to go."

"Tell me what to do. How can I help you?"

"You can't," Mercer told him forcefully. The computer blared at them, the screen showing the Rangers stumbling back. "Your friends are in trouble. They need you. Just go!" He released his son to take off while he fought against the monster.

Dr. Oliver landed on the three primary Rangers, sending them all to the ground. The dragon remained standing. "The Ruby Dragon always wins." He rumbled.

A slice cleaved through the air, and the dragon lurched forward. He turned around, finding Crystal with her blade in her hand. "The Guardians of the Eclipse always win." She charged again, blade at her side. She swung. The Dragon dodged, letting her blade slice the ground.

Lucy used her shoulder to fly through the air, slicing down his back, but it wasn't enough. He knocked her back, sending her colliding with Crystal, the two hitting the ground seconds after.

Pale gold blasts hit the back of the Dragon, turning his attention to Trent, incoming on his ATV. "We'll see about that." He climbed off, brandishing his blade. "I'll handle this freak myself…if he's up for the challenge."

"Trent, that's crazy." Conner protested.

"Conner's right. He's too strong to take on by yourself." Dr. Oliver added.

"I know how to play his game," Trent argued.

The Dragon shifted around. "Speaking of games, why don't you tell your friends the truth?"

Trent pointed at him. "I don't know what you're talking about." He curled his hand into a fist. "Now, let's do this!" He charged, the two slicing at each other. They hit each other in the chest before pushing up, rapidly slicing at each other until the Dragon got the upper hand. He sliced Trent, causing him to tumble to the ground.

"Trent, are you okay?" Dr. Oliver asked.

"Yeah." Trent pushed up to his elbow.

Conner pointed his blaster at the Dragon. "I've got him!"

"Wait, Conner!" Trent called. "Let me take him."

Conner turned to him. "What's the matter with you?" He knelt. "And what is he talking about?"

Everyone turned their helmets up an odd sound, seeing tendrils of light coming at them, blasting the ground around them, and sending them to the ground. Elsa landed in front of the Dragon with Tyrannodrones. "Attack!" Elsa charged, taking on Trent until they were side by side, blades connected. "I heard you were looking for me, Trent. Is there something I can do for you?"

"How about go away forever?" Trent shot back. He pushed up, slicing above and taking a hit from Elsa. He rolled while Conner landed in front of him.

"What fun would that be, huh?" Elsa challenged. "Then I wouldn't get to see you reveal your big secret."

Conner turned over his shoulder. "Secret? What secret?" He nearly demanded.

Trent glanced around. "It's nothing. She's just trying to mess with us."

"Then why don't you tell them?" Elsa barked.

"Conner, can you take it from here?" Trent asked.

Conner nodded. "Yeah." He pulled his shield out. "Kira, Ethan, are you ready?"

Kira and Ethan stepped up next to him. "Yeah!"

"Triassic power," Conner called on the power, his suit morphing in seconds. "Battlizer. Engage. Oh, yeah! Energize." He stood in his battlizer before the Dragon. "Cannon, power up." The two cannons formed on his back. "Battle blast! fire!" He called, pushing up and firing blasts at the Dragon. The explosion rocked the Tyrannodrones as well. Conner landed, turning to Elsa and the monster, disappearing in a yell.

"Nice one." Trent jogged to them.

Crystal hit his shoulder. "Good job, bud."

Conner ignored them. "Trent, what was she talking about?"

Trent turned his helmet down, unable to look at the Rangers. Dr. Oliver spoke up in the silence. "If there's something you need to tell us, now's the time to do it."

"We're your friends. Whatever it is, Trent, it can't be that bad." Kira stated, causing Trent to turn away from them.

The Rangers returned to the lab, all standing against Trent, who stared at the ground. Dr. Oliver took one of the chairs, leaning on the arms. "Trent, we're a team." He stated. "We work together doing something that takes the ultimate trust in each other."

Conner shifts around. "How can we trust you out in battle if you're holding back on us?"

Trent nodded. "You're right. Okay. Look, this is how it is." He turned to the Rangers. "I went to Mesogog's lab to get the card back."

Kira blinked. "You what…By yourself?"

"I found an invisiportal that took me right there." Trent lied. "I was just trying to help you out, Ethan, so I took a shot."

"That wasn't a real smart thing to do." Dr. Oliver stated.

Trent shrugged. "Yeah. It was stupid. I got knocked out by that thing. I barely made it to help you guys."

"Dr. O, he was just being a good friend," Ethan stated, causing Conner to nod. "Any of us would've done the same thing."

"Well, none of you'd better in the future. That's all I can say." Dr. Oliver nearly threatened.

"It won't happen again. I promise." Trent told him.

Kira squinted at Trent. "So that's your big secret?"

Trent paused for a second. "Yeah. Look, I gotta go. My head's still feeling foggy."

"Okay, get some rest." Dr. Oliver advised him.

"See you guys later." Trent walked out of the lab.

Crystal trailed after him, stopping in the center of the lab. "Somethings not right." She announced, causing all to turn to her.

"What do you mean?" Ethan asked.

"I don't know. Something just…not right with him."

Lucy rolled her eyes. "Great, she's got an itch she can't scratch, and I'm going to hear about it all day." She grumbled, plopping down on the stairs.

"It's not an itch." Crystal fought, turning around. "It's a feeling that he's not being entirely truthful."

"He's had a good knock to the head. I'd be feeling kinda spacey, too." Conner told her, then caught the looks of everyone. "I meant more than usual." He covered.

The computer beeped, showcasing the return of the Dragon. "Let's go." Dr. Oliver climbed from his chair.

"What about Trent?" Conner asked.

"Let him get his head together. We'll call him if it gets really ugly." Dr. Oliver stated.

"Ready?"

"Ready."

Dino Thunder, Power Up!

Eclipse Ranger, Dino Power!

Dino Power!

Guardian of the Moon!

Guardian of the Sun!

"Back for more?" The Dragon asked, charging. He sliced Conner, Dr. Oliver, Kira, and Ethan before his fist got caught by Crystal. She threw it back at him, punching him in the stomach. Lucy ran past him, slicing his stomach. The Dragon grabbed the two Guardians by the wrists and threw them at the Rangers, blasting the rest to the ground.

Conner pushed up. "That was harsh."

The Dragon snarled. Ethan rose to his feet. "Okay, this guy needs a little hover love. Hovercraft Cycle." He called, turning to find his bike. He climbed on, taking off and avoiding blasts. He used a ramp, firing and hitting the Dragon. "Aerial mode." He called, his bike transforming. "Afterburners!" He stopped on the other side of the Dragon. "Full throttle." He took off, avoiding blasts and firing his own that sent him back.

The dragon rose to his feet, turning when he heard Trent. The Ranger stabbed, slicing him in the chest. The Dragon grabbed his shoulder.

"Trent, watch out!" Conner called, watching Trent blast him with lightning. "Let's bust out the Z-Rex on this trading card phony."

The Rangers formed their blaster, Trent's blade on top of Dr. Oliver's. The Guardians added their blades next to Conner's staff. "Z-Rex Blaster!" The seven called.

"Nothing beats the Ruby Dragon." The Dragon snarled.

"Ready." Dr. Oliver announced from the ground.

"Aim," Trent called.

"Fire!" Conner yelled, firing it and blasting the monster into an explosion.

Elsa grunted. "All right. You blew up the little one. Now let's see what you do with the big daddy." She muttered, pushing the lever up. "Activate Hydro-Regenerator."

The Rangers watched the monster grow. "The game isn't over yet!" He rumbled.

Trent lifted his morpher. "It's zord time." The Dragozord and the Stegozord appeared from a waterfall.

"Brachio!" Dr. Oliver stated, calling all the zords.

"Triassic power," Conner announced, lifting his shield and letting Ethan and Kira power it. "Dr. O, think you can handle the Mezodon?"

"You've got it!" Dr. Oliver placed the shield on the stand. "Mezodon…online."

The four Megazords, the Eclipse in front, stood against the Dragon. He pushed up, flying in the air. "Nice view." He commented, blasting the four.

The Megazords stumbled. Trent recovered first. "DinoStegozord, tail attack!" The DinoStegozord pushed up, trying to attack, but the Dragon pushed him back. "We've got to work together."

Crystal nodded. "He's right."

"Yeah." Conner agreed. "Let's do it."

The four Megazords powered up, going brightly as they sent blasts of power at the Dragon, overloading him and causing him to shatter in the sky, falling to the ground in a heap.

"I give you chance after chance, yet you fail me every time." Mesogog stalked to Elsa.

"I am sorry, master." Elsa didn't flinch.

"Sorry is not good enough." Mesogog leaned in further. "Your time is running short, Elsa. Soon, I will have no patience for this, and I will be forced to take action." He walked away.

Elsa sighed. "Then I will also be forced to take action." She stated, then lifted the Dragon card. "Now, let's see how powerful this card really is."

The Rangers walked into school the next day with Dr. Oliver. "Well, did you learn something from this, Ethan?" He asked.

Ethan nodded. "Yeah, leave the card games at home from now on."

"Dude, how about leaving them to the kids from now on?" Conner supplied.

"Yeah, seriously. You're much too smart for that." Kira added.

"You guys still don't get it," Ethan stated. "But I don't expect you to understand."

Lucy snorted. "Not that I don't mind a good strategy game occasionally, but I saw the box. Ages 10-15." She nodded, smiling when Ethan rolled his eyes.

The six crossed paths with Trent and Mercer. "Hey, Anton. How are you?" Dr. Oliver called, stopping them.

"Tommy. I'm fine." Mercer answered. "Hey, I understand you're looking for a new principal."

Dr. Oliver quirked a brow. "Why? Are you interested?"

Kira gaped for a minute. "I'm sure Dr. Mercer's far too busy to run a school."

"Yeah, far too busy," Lucy added.

"Relax, everybody. She's right." Mercer stated. His beeper pinged. "See. Even as we speak." He pulled it out, and the Ruby Dragon card appeared with it, slapping gently against the ground.

Ethan picked it up. "How did you get this?"

Mercer took it from him. "Honestly, I don't know." He turned to his son. "Trent, is this yours?"

"No." Trent smiled. "I don't know how it got there."

Mercer stumbled forward, Trent and Dr. Oliver shooting out to help him. "Anton." Dr. Oliver helped balance him. "Are you all right?"

Mercer collapsed on the ground. "I'm fine. Just leave me alone."

Trent had his hand on his shoulder. "We should get you some help."

"No." Mercer took off running.

The Rangers followed, chasing after him. Trent whipped around. "Leave him alone! He'll be fine. He needs a doctor." He tried.

"Anton, wait!" Dr. Oliver tried, still chasing Mercer.

"Please leave me." Mercer turned back, then ducked into a classroom.

Everyone stopped, watching Mercer stumble and jolt before he whipped around, transforming into…Mesogog. The Rangers stared at the evil lizard. "No way," Conner said, only staring. "Mercer is…"

"Mesogog." Dr. Oliver breathed.

"Oh, this is one crazy week," Ethan stated.

Kira turned to Trent, shock written all over her face. "This is your big secret? You knew this all along?"

Lucy turned to Trent, fury lighting her light brown eyes aflame. Trent backed up from the Guardian, but everyone could sense the inkling of powers she controlled. "You knew?" There was a light snarl to the words she spat out. She nearly lunged for the Ranger had Conner not wrapped his arms around her, tugging her away. She didn't falter, her eyes swirling with silver magic...the magic everyone feared. "You knew this whole time and didn't tell us?"

Trent tried to argue. "He's my father. How could I tell you?"

"You will pay for betraying me, Trent." Mesogog snarled. "You will pay dearly."

"I never betrayed you." Trent fought.

Conner, still holding onto a raging ninja, bit back. "He betrayed us, if anything."

"Silence!" Mesogog yelled, then transformed back into Mercer.

The doctor fell to the ground, breathing heavily and sweating. "Trent." He breathed. "I'm sorry." Then he disappeared into an invisiportal, leaving Trent with five angry Rangers and a pissed-off Guardian.
