So this is just another short story! This is based on The Winter Dance and some time after Uraraka and Midoriya got together! I really wanted to write more of Uraraka, so I thought that this would be a good one!
It's probably best to read The Winter Dance first, I might reference it a few times.
Enjoy!
The subway was a bit bumpy back towards the city where Uraraka's parents lived in. She sat on the seat, fiddling with her fingers as she held her school bag.
This was one of the only times that she could leave the U.A. dormitories, so she figured she would go see her parents. They haven't seen her in a while, so she knew that they would be very excited to see her.
Only this time, she brought someone with her.
"Are you okay, Ochaco?" A voice familiar and friendly asked her.
She looked up to see Midoriya sitting next to her. He looked really nice in his casual but formal outfit. She herself even wore something really nice, which was refreshing from her usual U.A. uniform. He held a bouquet of flowers that he knew her mom would enjoy having.
Midoriya held her hand gently when he noticed her playing with school bag. Uraraka looked into green eyes, already feeling a lot better.
"You're about to meet my parents. Aren't you a little nervous?" Uraraka asked him.
Midoriya felt a slight blushing form around his cheeks, but he kept holding her hand anyway. She noticed a bunch of scars on his hand and caressed them with such gentleness. Once she did that, he seemed to settle down a bit more.
He smiled genuinely at her with sparkling eyes.
"Of course I'm a little nervous, but it's worth it to see you home with your parents," Midoriya said back to her.
Uraraka felt warm all of a sudden and tucked her hair behind her ear. She never thought he'd be this calm about meeting her parents. After all, she hadn't seen them in quite awhile.
"Besides, I've been preparing for this ever since we started dating," Midoriya said with an even wider and shiny smile.
Uraraka felt butterflies in her stomach and almost activated her quirk on herself. She was quickly able to gather herself once the subway came to a complete stop. She grabbed his wrist and pulled him out of the subway.
"Come on. My parents would love to meet you," Uraraka said to him.
Midoriya watched her from behind and noticed that she finally had a smile on her face. Her rosy cheeks complimented her facial features that he couldn't look away.
The rest of the way there, Uraraka held his hand as they walked through a crowd of people. After crossing a couple crossroads and down a sidewalk, they finally made it to her parents' apartment.
Uraraka took a deep breath in and out and headed inside. Midoriya followed her, making her she was okay. They made their way up an elevator and soon made it to the number of the apartment floor.
Midoriya let Uraraka calm down as they soon made their way out of the elevator sooner than expected. Uraraka made sure she had everything she needed as she looked through her school bag.
They walked across the hallway, and Midoriya noticed that she stopped in her tracks right in front of her parents' apartment.
Once she knocked lightly on the door, he suddenly felt a little nervous.
Uraraka looked back at him, noticing how nervous and stiff he looked. She held his hand as they waited for her parents to help him relax.
She soon heard the front door open and her mom stood in front of them. She looked at Uraraka with so much excitement.
"Ochaco! You're finally here!" Uraraka's mom cried out and ran over to give her a big hug, "It feels like it's been so long!"
Uraraka smiled widely when her mom was so happy to see her. She hugged her back, really excited to see her dad.
"Hi mom. I'm so happy to see you, too!" Uraraka cried back.
Then she saw Midoriya standing in the back, too nervous to say anything.
"You must Izuku Midoriya," Uraraka's mom said to her, "It's so nice to finally meet you! Ochaco talks so much about you over the phone."
Midoriya wasn't expecting that and felt a little nervous. Uraraka's mom shook his hand, but that only made him more nervous.
"I-It's nice to meet you, too," Midoriya said back.
Uraraka felt a blush come over her and made sure that no one walked by them. She tried to avoid Midoriya's eyes as they headed inside of the apartment.
Once they walked in, Midoriya knew right away to take off his shoes once they all did.
"Where's Daddy?" Uraraka asked her mom as she took off her shoes.
"He's getting lunch ready. It's a special surprise since you've brought your boyfriend here," Uraraka's mom said to her, giving Midoriya a genuine smile.
They both walked into the room, and it opened up into the kitchen. Uraraka's eyes lit up when she saw her dad making something for them all to eat. He turned around, and she felt so excited to finally see him. She could tell that he was just as excited as he was to see each other.
"Ochaco!" Uraraka's dad cried and ran over to her.
She ran into her embrace, and he spun her around as if she were a little kid again. He put her down on the floor to get a good look at her. He placed his hand on top of her head, making her hair a little messy.
"I swear you've gotten taller," Uraraka's dad said with a smile.
"It's so good to see you, daddy," Uraraka said back, "It feels like it's been so long."
Uraraka's dad lifted his head to look behind her. His facial expression seemed to change once he spotted Midoriya.
"Clearly it's been a long time," Uraraka's dad said with a more serious tone.
His eyes locked onto Midoriya just standing there in the living room, and he felt cornered.
"Daddy, please be nice to him," Uraraka said to him when she noticed the look he was giving him, "Izuku has been wanting to meet you guys for a while."
Uraraka watched him walked up to Midoriya with a serious look on his face. She noticed him stiffen up when he finally started to relax. She could swear he was sweating.
"I-It's n-nice to meet you, sir!" Midoriya said a little too loudly and bowed respectfully, "I-I'm Ochaco's... bo-boyfriend, and I hope that you'll have me over for lunch!"
Uraraka watched her boyfriend trying to impress her own dad. He didn't flinch or uncross his arms. He just stared at him as if he were judging him just by his looks. She wanted to step in, but then her mom entered the living room.
"Sweetie, be nice to Izuku here. They came all the way from U.A. just to spend some time with us," Uraraka's mom said to him.
Uraraka finally relaxed when he went back over to see her dad go back over to whatever he was cooking. Whatever it was smelled really good.
"What's that you got there, Izuku?" Uraraka's mom asked him trying to break the tension.
"Oh! Umm... This is for you, Mrs. Uraraka. Ochaco told me that you guys love white lilies, so I got you a bouquet of them," Midoriya said as he extended out his arm towards her.
Uraraka noticed her mom start to light up over this and accepted them right away.
"Oh! Thank you, Izuku! I love them," Uraraka's mom said with a wide smile, "And please, call me Nako."
"O-Okay, N-Nako," Midoriya said back.
Uraraka smiled when she saw her mom put the flowers in a vase. She put her school bag down and went over to the living room couch to sit down. She felt she could finally settle down after a long trip home.
Midoriya sat next to her, but noticed Uraraka's dad eyeing him. He really wanted to hold Uraraka's hand, but it felt wrong to do it in front of her parents.
So they sat there, not sure what to do next.
Then Uraraka's mom came in with something in her hands. Uraraka noticed right away, and her eyes lit up.
"Ochaco, I'm sure you've been missing this a lot," Uraraka's mom said as she handed a stuffed plushie.
It looked like dango plushie, and Uraraka rushed in to hug it. Her rosy cheeks were turning even rosier as she sat down onto the couch with it.
She looked up at Midoriya, and he looked confused to see her hugging it like that.
"This is my dango plushie. I used to sleep with it all the time before I got into U.A. I didn't have any room in my luggage, so I left it here," Uraraka explained to him, "I missed this so much."
Midoriya was so happy to see her enjoying something as simple as a plushie she hadn't seen in almost a year. He kind of himself missed his room from time to time and wondered how his mom was doing.
"Do you want to hold it?" Uraraka asked him, "It's really soft."
Uraraka held it out to Midoriya and there was no way he could say no to her with those big round eyes. He grabbed it and instantly felt how soft it was. He was kind of surprised how good it felt to have it on his lap.
Midoriya hugged it closer when he realized that it smelled really good.
"It kind of smells like Ochaco," Midoriya thought as he hugged it closer to him.
Uraraka smiled at him with sparkling brown eyes. Even Uraraka's mom was smiling at him.
Midoriya looked up and realized what he was doing. His face turned bright red, and he handed over to Uraraka so fast.
"So Izuku, how have you been doing in U.A.? Ochaco says that classes are getting tougher ever since the dormitories were built," Uraraka's mom asked him.
"I've been doing really good actually. I'd say that I've been getting better at controlling my quirk," Midoriya said to her, "Hero training has been tougher, but it's been fun to have Ochaco here helping me out."
Uraraka noticed her mom smiling at him and felt so proud of him for being able to handle staying here with them. She didn't even notice that her blemish across her face began to form.
"Do remind me what your quirk is exactly," Uraraka's mom said to him, "Ochaco hasn't said much about it."
"Well, my quirk is called Superpower. It allows me to enhance my strength and speed throughout my entire body," Midoriya tried to explain, "It's been hard to use, but lately I've been getting stronger so it's definitely improved."
"That's impressive. You sure seem to like going to U.A. Is it weird to be staying in the dormitories for you?" Uraraka's mom asked him.
"A little weird. It's always been just me and my mom in our apartment, so it took awhile to get used to," Midoriya said, "But lately, it's actually felt like home with my friends."
Uraraka felt so much pride behind that comment and placed her hand on top of his. He felt her support him and was able to relax some more.
"Hey. Since lunch isn't ready yet, you two can go to Ochaco's room for a little bit," Uraraka's mom said to them, "We'll call you over when it's ready."
Uraraka got up right away once she noticed her dad eyeing her boyfriend.
She quietly grabbed his hand and walked him over to her bedroom. Uraraka walked out of the living room and walked down the hallway. The hallway was pretty small, so they got to her room pretty quickly.
Uraraka opened the door, and they went inside. Midoriya was surprised to see that her bedroom was pretty empty. It was just a room with a bed with a couple posters of superheroes, a closet, a mirror, and an empty desk.
Uraraka placed her dango plushie onto her bed and sat down.
"Sorry about my room. I brought everything I needed to my apartment when I went to U.A., so there wasn't anything to leave behind," Uraraka explained.
"It's fine. It's still your bedroom," Midoriya said to her, "Besides, I pretty much brought most of my things from my bedroom to the dorms."
Uraraka noticed that he didn't sit down on her bed and instead sat on her desk chair from across the room.
"Izuku, you can sit on the bed. My dad is not coming into my room," Uraraka said to him as she giggled a little.
"W-Well, umm... I wa-was just... okay," Midoriya said as he slowly sat down next to her.
Uraraka held his hand and looked around her bedroom. It felt somehow strange to have Midoriya in her bedroom. She remembered when she first met him and never thought anything of it.
But now, they were a couple.
"This is kind of funny. Do you remember when we first met?" Uraraka asked him.
He thought about it for a moment and remembered how beautiful she looked that day and how flustered he was talking to a girl.
"Yeah. I tripped over my two own feet," Midoriya said laughing at himself, "You came in and stopped me from falling on my face."
Uraraka laughed out loud, remembering the look on his face when he noticed her for the first time. She even noticed how scrawny he was compared to now.
"I just noticed you and thought to help you out. I didn't think we'd be classmates back then," Uraraka said to him.
"Yeah. I didn't even think I'd get into U.A. at all," Midoriya said back, "I didn't even get any points. Then you came in and wanted to give me some of yours. I definitely wasn't expecting that."
Uraraka blushed and caressed his scarred hand. She definitely remembered that and thought that he looked kind of plain looking. She looked at his green eyes and how they complimented his freckled face.
"Izuku, I'm glad that I met you that day," Uraraka said to him.
She smiled at him and placed her hand behind his head to play with his hair. He seemed to like it because he started to lean in closer.
Uraraka smiled.
They both heard someone coming, and they quickly separated from each other. He stiffened up when Uraraka's dad walked in to see them both sitting on her bed.
Midoriya felt like he was about to sweat buckets just from his piercing stare alone. He didn't dare look at Uraraka when he never looked away from him.
"Lunch is ready you two," Uraraka's dad said to them, "You better come before it gets cold."
Uraraka and Midoriya got up from her bed, Midoriya maybe a little too fast. They headed out, but Uraraka's dad stopped Midoriya from entering the living room.
"Go ahead, Ochaco. Me and Izuku here will meet you there," Uraraka's dad said to her.
Uraraka looked at her dad, and then Midoriya who was looking a little nervous again. She gave him a supportive smile and left to see her mom.
Midoriya fidgeted awkwardly in his red sneakers as Uraraka's dad stared him down. He didn't dare blink or look away from him.
"So, you're Izuku Midoriya. You're the one that went to The Winter Dance with my daughter," Uraraka's dad said to him, sounding a little intimidating, "Not only that, but you and Ochaco danced together to represent Class 1-A."
Midoriya felt so sweaty and didn't know what to say to that without causing a scene. He didn't want Uraraka's dad to hate him or anything, if anything, he just wanted to get along with him somewhat.
"Y-Yes, sir," Midoriya said back, "I asked her to the Winter Dance. I'm hoping you were okay with that since we haven't seen our parents in a while with the dormitories and... everything else going on."
"Yes. Ochaco told me everything. It seems like she really likes you," Uraraka's dad said back, "The Winter Dance was very important to her."
Midoriya felt himself stiffen up a lot while he went on about Uraraka and them being together. He could tell that he was a bit protective of her.
"Ye-Yes, sir. The Winter Dance was important to me, too. That's why I asked her out," Midoriya said to him, still looking a little nervous around him.
Uraraka's dad uncrossed his arms, and his eyes softened a little bit.
"You should go eat, your lunch is going to get cold," Uraraka's dad said to him as he walked away from him.
Midoriya let out a long sigh and followed him into the dining room. He saw Uraraka and her mom already sitting at the table. He next to Uraraka, and she seemed to notice him looking a little nervous right away.
"Are you okay?" Uraraka asked him, "Did my daddy say something to you?"
"I-I'm fine. Just... talked about The Winter Dance," Midoriya said to her.
Uraraka was about to say something, but then Uraraka's dad came in with a bunch of bowls filled with food and chopsticks.
Midoriya looked down to see his favorite dish.
Katsudon.
He was confused to see his favorite dish, but it was very happy. Looking up at Uraraka's mom, she gave both of them a genuine smile.
"Ochaco mentioned that you like Katsudon, so we figured this was a good time to make it for lunch," Uraraka's mom said to them, "Well, enjoy. It's going to get cold."
"Itadakimasu," Midoriya said, and then grabbed the chopsticks.
Uraraka giggled as she grabbed her own bowl and watched him try it.
Midoriya took a bite of the chicken, and his mouth watered the instant he tasted it. His eyes sparkled as he took another bite of the white rice.
"This is so good! Thank you for this!" Midoriya complimented with rice stuck on the corner of his lip, "This might be better than Lunch Rush's, and he makes good Katsudon!"
"Well, I'm glad you like it," Uraraka's mom said to him as she ate some of it, "My husband is the one who came up with it actually."
Midoriya was surprised and looked at him. He still gave him dirty glare, but not as harsh looking.
"Th-Thank you, sir," Midoriya said but with more confidence, "I appreciate that you made this for me and Ochaco. Me and my mom used to make this all the time."
"Oh yeah? What's your mom like?" Uraraka's mom asked while the others started eating their lunch.
Midoriya looked down at the Katsudon, feeling a little sad. He hadn't talked to his mom in a while, at least, not since The Winter Dance ended. It had been at least a week since then.
"She's very kind, and really did everything she could to make sure me and her had clothes, food and a roof over our head. She even got me presents that made me so happy when I was little," Midoriya said to them.
Then he looked up, feeling a little bit embarrassed. His face blushed a little when all they did was stare at him. Uraraka's mom smiled at how sweet he was about his mom.
"Well, she sounds really sweet. Maybe I should meet her someday," Uraraka mom said back.
That made Midoriya smile.
"So, what have you been since I moved to the dormitories?" Uraraka asked her parents, "I'm hoping your job has been a lot easier to manage."
"Actually, it has. We actually got a lot of orders and construction going on," Uraraka's dad said back with a smile, "But it's nothing for you to be worried about. You're our kid, we should be taking care of you, not the other way around. Okay, sweetie?"
Uraraka smiled for them and nodded, happy to see things finally turning around for her family.
Even Midoriya smiled at her, happy for them working things out. He knew they weren't rich like Yaoyorozu or Todoroki, but that didn't stop him from being her friend.
"So, Izuku. How was The Winter Dance?" Uraraka's mom asked him, "From what I hear, it's only for the first years. I don't know much about U.A."
"Yeah, it is only first years," Midoriya said back to her with sparkling eyes, "Even AllMight went to it as a kid! He helped us with our dance actually."
"Really? That's cool," Uraraka's mom commented, "You guys must've had a lot of fun representing Class 1-A."
Midoriya almost choked on his Katsudon, and Uraraka's rosy cheeks turned even rosier. They both had a hard time looking at each other and didn't know what to say afterwards.
Midoriya felt himself smile when he remembered how much it was dancing together.
"Yeah. It was really... special," Midoriya said as he gave them a confident smile, even Uraraka's dad, "I wanted to make sure Ochaco had a great time there."
Uraraka placed her hand on his hand, surprising him.
Midoriya was shocked at how he was able to keep a straight but confident face at Uraraka's dad. Midoriya could tell that he wanted to say something to him as he crossed his arms.
"You know, Ochaco is special to us. If you're okay with being her boyfriend, then you'd know that being with her means to protect her as well," Uraraka's dad said to him.
Midoriya felt himself stiffen up, but not as much as when he was talking to him back in the living room. He felt Uraraka's hand rubbed his for support.
"Daddy, I told you to be nice to him," Uraraka reminded him.
"I'm sorry, Ochaco, but if someone comes into The Winter Dance and does that to you, he should've known this was coming," Uraraka's dad said to her.
Midoriya didn't dare look at his girlfriend because he knew exactly what he was talking about. He was talking about Toga showing up and hurting Uraraka. He didn't blame for feeling that way since he kind of felt the same way.
"It's okay, Ochaco. I understand what he's getting at. I should've known Toga was at The Winter Dance. I wasn't able to protect you," Midoriya said to her, and then turned to Uraraka's dad, "But that doesn't mean that I don't care about Ochaco. I really am trying my best to train and become stronger so I'm ready for stuff like that, but I swear to you that I'll be ready next time."
They all looked at him, not daring to blink. Uraraka's mom looked so genuinely happy to hear him say that. Uraraka's dad was surprised to see him so determined. Even Uraraka was surprised but happy to see him finally so proud to be her boyfriend.
She held his hand, showing it off to her parents. Uraraka felt so lucky to have someone like him for a boyfriend.
Midoriya had noticed Uraraka's dad lower his shoulders and uncross his arms.
"I'm impressed. I thought you'd back out and want to leave," Uraraka's dad said with a smile, But I guess I was right about you. You really do care about Ochaco."
Midoriya was surprised that he looked much more okay with him being here. Even the way he looked at him seemed more relaxed. He even smiled.
"Ochame can be a little overprotective, but he means well," Uraraka's mom said to Midoriya, "He's just worried about Ochaco since we can only see her every once in a while. I hope you don't take any of this too seriously."
Midoriya smiled at Uraraka's parents when he realized there was nothing to worry about. They actually were okay with him dating their daughter.
Uraraka shared a look with Midoriya and noticed how much better he looked. She smiled and looked at her parents with so much pride.
"So, you're not mad at Izuku?" Uraraka asked her dad.
"Nah, he just needed a push. I thought I might as well make sure he was ready to be Ochaco's girlfriend," Uraraka's dad explained with a smile, "You never told me he was this serious about becoming a pro hero. Of course I approve."
Midoriya's eyes lit up, and Uraraka squeezed his hand with excitement. He was so happy that her parents were so okay with them dating. He smiled so widely that he didn't know what to say to them.
"Thank you, sir! I promise to look out for your daughter!" Midoriya said with confidence.
"You know, I can look out for you, too. We're both trying to become pro heroes after all," Uraraka said back.
Uraraka's mom couldn't help but laugh at how adorable they were together. She even noticed how much happier Uraraka was around Midoriya. She smiled knowing full well how much her daughter really likes Midoriya.
Then Midoriya's phone began to ring. He struggled to get it out of his pocket and looked at it.
It was his mom.
"Umm... Sorry, but I should take this," Midoriya said to them.
He got up and entered the living room to take the call.
"Hello? Mom?" Midoriya said on the other side of the call.
"Hi Izuku. How are you doing today?" Midoriya's mom asked him.
"Umm, I'm doing fine mom. I'm kind of busy with something actually so I might have to end the call early," Midoriya said back to her.
"Oh! So sorry baby. I didn't know that you were busy. What's going on with you?" She asked him.
"I'm actually at Ochaco's parents' house right now. They wanted to meet me for lunch..." Midoriya trailed off, realizing that he never told her about Uraraka and him.
"Izuku, are you okay? Are they being nice to you over there?" Midoriya's mom asked him.
Midoriya struggled to think of something to tell her. He needed more time to think about what to tell her. Then it clicked.
"Yeah, everything's fine. I just thought about maybe coming by for dinner. We're here in the city, we might as well go see you, too," Midoriya said to her.
Midoriya could swear that he heard his mom freaking out through the phone.
"Really? Oh, that's great! I'll get things set up and make something special for you two! Is there anything that you want me to make for you and your friend?" Midoriya's mom asked him.
Midoriya thought about it for a moment and remembered that one time him and Uraraka stopped at a ramen stand at the mall.
"Actually, she does like ramen and mochi. Is that okay? I don't want you do it if it's too much for you," Midoriya asked her back.
"That actually sounds great! I'll get it ready, and you and Ochaco can come over whenever you want," Midoriya's mom said to him.
"Thanks mom," Midoriya said to her with so much appreciation, "I'll see you later."
"I love you, sweetie. I'll make sure this dinner is great!" Midoriya's mom said over the phone.
"I love you too, mom. Bye."
Midoriya hung up the call and let out a sigh. He walked back into the dining room and sat next to Uraraka.
"Is everything okay, Izuku?" Uraraka asked him.
"Umm... Yeah, it was just my mom. She just called to check in on me," Midoriya said to her.
"That's sweet of her. We should plan to meet her soon," Uraraka said back.
Midoriya scratched the back of his head, feeling a little nervous to tell her what's going on. Since they were still with Uraraka's parents, he decided to wait until they left.
"Ye-Yeah... We definitely should," Midoriya said back.
After finishing their lunch, they went into living room just to talk and have some tea to drink. Uraraka and Midoriya really enjoyed spending time with her parents. He even noticed Uraraka laughed with them that it made her tear up.
They ended up staying longer than Midoriya thought. He really hoped his mom was okay if they were slightly late.
Once Uraraka noticed what time it was, she thought they should leave now.
"Sorry Mom and Daddy, but we need to get going. It's getting late," Uraraka said to them as she gathered her school bag.
"You know, you can stay for dinner if you want," Uraraka's mom said to them with a smile.
Midoriya felt really bad, but he knew now that he had to say something. His mom was probably already waiting for them.
"Actually my mom wants to meet you, Ochaco," Midoriya said to her in front of her parents, "She's waiting for us to have dinner with her."
"What? Izuku, why didn't you say anything?" Uraraka said with a teasing smile, "Well, we should get going then."
"Thank you for lunch, Nako and..."
Uraraka's dad hesitated, but he ended up giving in and smiled. He even reached out to shake his hand.
"You call me Ochame, son."
Midoriya's eyes lit up and accepted his handshake.
"I'll look after Ochaco, sir. I'll even help her with some hero training," Midoriya said to him.
Uraraka's parents didn't say anything. They were just so happy to see their daughter with someone that actually cares about her.
"Come on. Let's go before your mom gets mad at us for getting there late," Uraraka said as she pulled him towards the front door.
Uraraka opened the door and turned towards her parents looking back at her. She was so happy to finally see them again.
She ran over to them and gave them all a big hug. Uraraka even felt tears coming her way.
"I really missed you," Uraraka whispered to them, "I really hope I can see you guys again soon."
"Me too, Ochaco," Uraraka's dad said to her, "You've been becoming such an amazing hero in training, and now you have all of these friends and a boyfriend. I'm so proud of you."
Uraraka hugged him as she felt tears running down her face. She let go of her dad and headed out.
"Bye, guys. I love you so much."
