Chapter 3: Jenny Humphrey Turned Out Like All the Other Girls At Constance

I Know

He is attending some fashion and art party when he sees them.

Two shadowy figures huddled in a hidden corner.

He almost passes them by without notice but familiarity makes him take a double look at the blonde. It is here that he sees Nate Archibald in a moment intimacy; the thing is, it's just not with person he expected.

"I know you felt something too," the girl says to him.

"I do."

"Then I don't understand- You're going to married her, Nate. What am I suppose to do with that?"

"I can't leave her."

"If you love me, then why not?"

"I don't know. I just – I've been waited for this to happen since I can remember."

"And that's enough for you?"

"Jenny.."

He feels her upset and doesn't know what to make of it all. She isn't supposed to be in Brooklyn. She promised she'd stay away in Hudson; away from the things that made her sick in the first place.

"I love you."

And in that instant he sees his sister bare her soul to the only male he has called a friend. For one fleeting moment, he envisioned a future where the best guy he knows and the girl he shares blood with are bond in an eternity of bliss.

He hated to admit it but Jenny Humphrey was the perfect mixture of Serena Vanderwoodsen and Blair Waldorf. Conniving and smart like Blair, blonde and free like Serena. To man so conflicted like Nate, Jenny might be his perfect match. He does not stay around to hear Nate's response to Jenny's declaration. He knows the answer - cheaters never leave. Serena is his dream girl. And despite the responsibilities and tribulations that come with her, she always will be.

He's sitting on the dock at the back of the converted warehouse when Jenny exits the building. He sees the tears trail – she wears too much makeup for him not to notice. She says, "I know."

And instantly he sees that she understands his relationship with Blair. He feels bad for her. He knows what that burden entails.

A Waking Point

His next chapter released by the New Yorker magazine is about Jenny Humphrey.

"It's a brave new world, but Jenny Humphrey is still stuck in the old one. Sadly, she's another mass production, stuck in a caste system she had no choosing of. And while the people of her caste make up the majority of society, she, like everyone else, gripes about the lack of supremacy it provides. Instead, she yearns for the recognition of those who don't even know she exists. And the production of such children bolsters the efficiency and harmony of society, since these people are deliberately limited in their cognitive and physical abilities, as well as the scope of their ambitions and the complexity of their desires, thus rendering them easier to control."

He hates writing about her; because she most comprehends the feeling of trying to belong. It's a wakening point though. Blair is going to hurt him the way that Nate hurt Jenny. Louis is as oblivious to Blair's affairs as Serena was to Nate's. They were all in trouble. What was he going to do with Blair?

Blair isn't happy

The next time he sees Blair, he asks her what they are doing. He can tell she hates it. Blair isn't happy. What does he do with that?

"Leave Louis," he says.

She scoffs. "Do you understand the repercussions to that option?"

He does. Prince, Golden Boy, or Dark Knight. Not him. But she is still here. And he would do anything to keep her here. Instead, he asks her how her day was. She tells him in elaborate detail: Her career goals, school, Louis' demand that she drop out of school, the wedding plans, Dorota not picking up her dry cleaning in time for an event. He is so upset that these little details are enough to make him believe he knows her. He wants more.

They end their visit by having sex. He does not cum because he can't overcome the thought that this might be just sex to Blair. He has a whole chapter to release to make up for it. Nate doesn't talk to him for a whole month after he sees it.

Finding Peace

He finally returns back to NYU. It makes it harder to see Blair. But he needs to focus on his life again. He is a star at school because he has a published book and is about to release another. The control he has is in narrating; stories of the truth with a mix of his imagination of what could be.

Blair is upset because she knows that her chapter is to come. Little does she realize that her chapter is the most enlightening. But he has a few other characters to talk about…

Note: It has taken me almost ten years to overcome Gossip Girl's end but I'm here. So sorry to those who liked this story and have not gotten an update. But I think I'm finally ready to write. SophiaBee your stories kept me a true fan of Dan and Blair. I'm back.
