At Station Square animals from Sonic's world were travelling through. Sonic ran up a skyscraper and stood atop it. Seeing what was going on in the park below, she ran down the skyscraper. Kids were running like Sonic. People were sleeping in trees. Others style their hair like Sonic's quills. One person even laid out colored stones in the shape of Sonic's head. Another displayed Sonic-themed badges. Yet another makes wooden Sonic sculptures. This was the Freedom Movement. Sonic ran into the park.
A woman looked up from her Sonic painting.
"Look, everybody!" woman 1 said.
"Oh wow, Sonic's here!" woman 2 said.
Soon she had the attention of everyone in the park.
Everyone cross talked.
They all stampeded after Sonic.
"Calm down, will ya?" Sonic said and fled.
At Thorndyke Industries building Nelson was typing on a computer when his employee Miranda Curtis walked in.
"Good morning, Mr. Thorndyke." Miranda said.
"Good morning, Suzy." Nelson said.
"Those documents I mentioned are ready for you if you have the time."
"Ah. Just leave them right here, please."
"Yes, sir." she said and snapped her fingers, and five men walked in carrying huge armloads of papers.
They laid them on the table. Nelson looked at the papers.
"Hey, what is all this stuff, Suzy?" he asked as the men left.
Miranda placed a clipboard on top of one of the stacks.
"Apparently our home appliance division has been absolutely flooded with customer complaint forms." she said.
"Are you kidding me? This can't be! Why, we've hardly ever received any complaints about our products before. How could this have happened now?"
"I think you'd better watch this." she said and turned on a TV, showing Scarlet converting the Freedom Movement story.
"Sonic's popularity seems to be affecting people throughout the city in all sorts of amazing ways. From groups of children playing "catch the hedgehog" to adults sleeping on rooftops like their hero, Sonic's fame seems to be reaching astonishing proportions. In fact, a large number of citizens are leaving their jobs in order to follow their idol. From Station Square Park, I'm Scarlet Garcia, SSTV News." Scarlet said.
Miranda turned off the TV as a laughing Nelson stood up.
"I knew Sonic was famous, but that's ridiculous." he and laughed. "Uh... But what does all this have to do with those complaints, Suzy?"
"As you know, many of our employees are wild about Sonic too." she and he nodded. "Well, some of them have left the company and started Sonic fan clubs, and most of the assembly line workers spend so much time talking about Sonic that their work has become shoddy. And now our customers are complaining like crazy!" she said and he cried out. "If this keeps up, we might have to go out of business."
"I'm not losing Thorndyke Industries over some silly hedgehog!" He said and the phone rang, and he answered it. "Thorndyke here." he said on the phone. "What is it? What's the matter, Ella?" he asked alarmed.
At Thorndyke Mansion Chris' room.
"I just thought you should know that I kept Chris home from school today because he has a snuffle in his nose." Ella said on the phone.
"It's no big deal, Dad. I'm totally fine." Chris said.
"I'm giving him plenty of fresh orange juice, and he'll have a nice big bowl of my homemade chicken soup for lunch. If he gets some rest, I'm sure he'll be better in a day or so."
Back at Thorndyke Industries Nelson was clearly anxious.
"But what if he gets worse? I'm leaving the office right now. Just tell Chris to sit tight." he said on the phone and hung up. "Suzy, get my helicopter ready immediately."
"What's wrong, Mr. Thorndyke?" Miranda asked.
"My son may be gravely ill. I've got to get home right away before it's too late!" Nelson said and ran to the door, but stopped. "Suzy, get Ed from home appliances in here and tell him I want these complaints taken care of by the end of the day!" he said and ran out of the room.
Elsewhere Lindsey was filming a movie involving her driving a motorcycle. A camera car drove alongside her when Nelson's helicopter arrived on scene.
"Hey, what's that helicopter doing up there?" the director asked.
Lindsey stopped the motorcycle as the helicopter descended. They communicated by cell phone.
"I hope this is important. I'm in the middle of a scene!" Lindsey said on the phone.
"I'm sorry, Lindsey, but we've got an emergency!" Nelson said over the phone.
"Emergency?"
The chopper dropped a rope ladder. Lindsey ran toward it and grabbed on and the cameraman continued filming.
"Hey... What about me?" the director asked as the helicopter flew away.
At Eggman's prison Eggman was working like a machine as Decoe and Bocoe gave him appliances to refurbish.
"Hurry, hurry..." Eggman said.
"Yes, Doctor." Decoe said.
"Next!"
"Yes, Doctor!"
"Hurry, hurry!"
"Yes, Doctor!"
"Hurry, hurry, hurry!"
"Yes, Doctor!"
"Hurry!"
Bocoe loaded a truck with the furniture so fast that it fell out and buried him. He raced back to Eggman.
"Please slow down, Doctor! I cannot keep up!" he said but Eggman wouldn't stop and refurbished him.
"Whoa! Watch it! That tickles! But I do not need to be fixed! Scratch that! Decoe!" he said and Decoe entered.
"Aren't you getting a bit carried away, Doctor? He is a robot, not a refrigerator!" Decoe said.
"You think this is all a joke, eh? Well... do you see this? Huh? Huh?! You know who's to blame for this heap of lemons here?" Eggman said and produced a newspaper filled with Sonic-related headlines. "That perky little pest, that's who! Because of her, every fatheaded fool in every factory is spending less time on the job and more time lollygagging and dillydallying. That means I fritter away my genius slaving away in a prison sweatshop fixing all their blunders! And I have that horrible heinous hedgehog to thank for it!"
"But if it is all Sonic's fault, why do we have to do the dirty work?"
"Dirty work is right. I almost got flattened by a falling fridge!" Bocoe said and Decoe nodded.
"Don't you worry. For I have developed an exceptionally egg-cellent plan to get revenge!"
"I hate it when he does that "egg" thing." Decoe said.
"Me too..." Bocoe said.
Eggman grabbed his two hench-bots by the shoulders.
"Now pay attention, and I'll show you my greatest stroke of genius yet! How's this!" he said and held up a tiny chip.
"Oh! What is it?"
"It's the end of Sonic the Hedgehog!" he said and laughed.
Soon, truck after truck pulls out of the facility.
Outside Thorndyke Mansion a truck was parked. Tanaka was filling out a form after receiving a vacuum cleaner.
"No tip? Lousy butler..." the deliveryman said and left.
Tanaka examined the vacuum.
Meanwhile Tails, Amy, Cream, Cheese, Vanilla, Chuck, and Emerl were gathered in the living room, some enjoying tea. Ella entered with dessert.
"Well, how's our little patient feeling, Ella?" Chuck asked as she set the dessert down on the table.
"Right now, he's taking a nice long nap. I'm sure the rest will do him lots of good." she said.
"Wonderful."
Then Tanaka entered with the vacuum.
"Good news, Ella. Your vacuum cleaner just came back from the repair shop." he said.
"Ah, welcome home, my little amigo! I hate to say it, but Mr. Thorndyke's company doesn't make the good products the way they used to. They're always breaking." she said.
"Please forgive me, Ella. I would have fixed it for you myself, but mainly I've been spending all my spare time trying to figure out what's wrong with Emel." Chuck said.
"Oh, sure. I understand, Mr. Thorndyke."
"Is Emel feeling sick too?" Cream asked.
"Chao?" Cheese said.
"Yes. When I examined him yesterday, I found that all his program data had been erased somehow." Chuck said and Amy looked at Emerl.
"Poor Emel..." she said.
"Maybe I can take care of Emel like Ella takes care of Chris." Cream said.
"Chao-chao!" Cheese said.
"That's very thoughtful of you, Cream. " Vanilla said.
Just then they heard the sound of a helicopter and ran outside to see Nelson and Lindsey emerging from it. They waved.
Later everyone was gathers in Chris' room.
"Why are... they here?" Chris asked.
"How are you feeling, buddy? I heard you were sick, so I rushed right home-" Nelson started but was cut off by Lindsey.
"I'm here, baby." she said and gave him a hug.
"Don't you think you're overreacting? It's just the common cold. Everyone gets them." Chuck said.
"Yes, I know, but when I heard, I just couldn't keep my mind on my work." Nelson said.
"Same here." Lindsey said.
"NELSON! You're impossible! Don't you see? What kind of example are you giving your son, abandoning your workplace just because of a harmless little cold?" Chuck asked upset.
"But Dad, I just wanted to-" Nelson started but was cut off again.
"Don't you "But Dad" me, Mr. Big Shot goof-off! How irresponsible can you get?!"
"Now listen here, Dad! If I want to take a day off to visit my son when he's got a disease, it's nobody's business but mine!"
"If I were you, I couldn't afford to take time off! Not when every product you make goes off the assembly line straight into the junk shop!"
"I'll have you know the real reason behind those bad appliances is your friend Sonic!"
"How dare you put the blame on Sonic! Can't you even take responsibility for your own incompetence?!"
"Everybody stop yelling!" Chris shouted and they stopped to look at him.
"Darling..." Lindsey said.
"Sorry about that, big guy. Guess we got a little carried away there."
"Is this what you came home for? To argue? If you care about me, you have a funny way of showing it!" Chris said surprising the others.
"Sorry..." Chuck said.
Little do they know that, in the living room, the vacuum cleaner assembled itself, moved over to the TV, and attached a chip to it. It then proceeded to attach chips to various house appliances.
Later at the Entry everyone except Chris were now at the top of the double stairs. Chuck and Nelson were snubbing each other.
"Chris didn't mean what he said. It's just a reaction to the antibiotics. Ahh, I just had the most wonderful idea. I'll make his favorite cherry pie. One big bite of that and he'll be smiling from ear to ear." Ella said.
"How marvelous! A pie! Let's all pitch in and make it together, huh?" Lindsey said but the tension between Nelson and Chuck showed no signs of letting up.
Later everyone was in the kitchen, prepared to make a cherry pie. Lindsey was now in her normal outfit. Chuck and Nelson were still ignoring each other.
"All right, everybody, let's get started." Ella said.
"Let's. It looks like we've got everything we need. Everything except the cherries." Lindsey said.
Then she walked over to the fridge and tugged on the door, but to no avail.
"It won't budge." she said.
"That's strange." Ella said and they tried to open the fridge.
Suddenly the hand mixer automatically whirred to life and floated into the air. It sported evil red eyes.
"Watch out!" Nelson said as the mixer sped toward them.
Then he tackled them out of the way right before it crashed through the fridge, shocking everyone.
"I can't believe what I'm seeing." Chuck said.
The hand mixer broke out of the fridge and sped back toward Nelson. Suddenly Sonic ran in and destroyed the mixer. Emerl's eyes glowed white as it scanned him. "SKILL COPY" appeared in its visual screen.
"All right! Now that's what I call mixing it up! I just beat the beater!" Sonic said.
The fridge doors burst open, and it launched its contents at the others.
"Just leave these to me!" Amy said and hammered the food away from Sonic.
"Nice work, Amy." Sonic said.
The fridge gained red eyes and lumbered into the room.
"Freaky freezer!" Amy said and hammered the fridge into the wall, breaking it.
In Chris' room a robot fusion of two vacuum cleaners, the TV, and the blender roved menacingly toward Chris, who cowered in the corner.
The robot, known as Gatyameca, extended one of its vacuum hands toward him. Suddenly Emerl spun through the window and destroyed Gatyameca.
"Thanks, Sonic!" Chris said and Sonic ran into the room.
"Chris!" she said.
"Huh?" he said and walked over to Emerl, surprised that he saved him and not Sonic. "How'd you learn to do that?"
"Do what, Chris?"
"Emel spun around like you do when you go real fast."
"You're kiddin' me!"
Suddenly Gatyameca reassembled and rights itself.
Sonic and Emerl simultaneously used homing attacks on Gatyameca, ultimately destroying it.
"Hey, good job, you guys! You got him!" Chris said.
Various other appliances moved into the room. Sonic destroyed one of the robots. The resulting explosion activated the automatic sprinklers. She cringed at the water as it soaked the robots. Their eyes disappeared, and they fell over. Nelson and Lindsey ran in, followed by Chuck, Tanaka, Ella, Tails, Amy, Cream, and Cheese.
"Chris!" Nelson and Lindsey said then bent down to his level.
"Are you all right, my darling?" Lindsey asked.
"Sure, Mom. The water stopped them." Chris said.
"Those sprinklers came on just in time. But I have a bad feeling we haven't seen the last of these monsters." Chuck said.
"Eggman must be behind this." Sonic said.
'As usual.' she thought.
"If we don't act fast, this city could be headed for a catastrophe!"
Sure enough, chaos ensued in the town as the appliance chase crowds and destroyed cars.
"But now that we know water can short-circuit them, maybe we could stop them!" Chris said.
"That's right." Lindsey said.
The appliances had turned off the water.
"Oh no! They've done it! They've gone and shut off the water supply!" Nelson said.
"That's my cue, kids. Gotta run." Sonic said and lead through the hole that Emerl came in through.
"Sonic!" Chris said.
"I'm going too." Nelson said and everyone looked at him in surprise.
"What?" Lindsey said.
"My company distributes every drop of water in this city. Customer service is what Thorndyke Industries is all about. I won't let my customers down any longer."
"I'm proud of you, Nelson." Chuck said. "Fire up the X-Tornado and take my son wherever he wants to go." he said to Tails and Amy.
"Roger!" Tails and Amy said then they and Nelson ran out of the room.
"Mom, can I-" Chris started but was cut off.
"No, dear. I can't let you go with them." Lindsey said.
"But Mom..."
"You're staying in bed. Now let's get you out of those wet pajamas." she said. "Ella, how about some hot chocolate?" she asked.
"Coming up!" Ella said.
At Eggman's prison a prison guard walked by Eggman's cell. As soon as he passed, Eggman, Decoe, and Bocoe, who were pretending to be sleeping, suddenly gather around the table to play poker, using nails as chips. Decoe won the game.
"Yippee! I won! I won!" he said infuriating Eggman. "Eheheh, I can't imagine how I can keep crushing you, Doctor..."
"If you keep winning, I can imagine crushing you." Eggman said.
Suddenly a piece of the ceiling cracked loose and fell on Decoe.
"Look, Doctor. It happened sooner than you thought it would." Bocoe said.
"How lucky!" Eggman said then Bokkun broke through the roof.
"Come on! This is the break you've been waiting for!" he said and parked the Eggmobile right above the hole.
Soon, the jailbreak was a success, and Eggman and his hench-bots took off in the Eggmobile.
"I don't get it. Why didn't we escape sooner?" Decoe asked.
"Quiet! My genius is too great for you to understand. Just you wait, Sonic. My appalling appliances aren't through with you!" Eggman said.
At Station Square Sonic raced into town and kicked two appliance robots aside. Then she barreled through several robots surrounding a group of people.
"Water stops 'em, so get your hands on some H2O and let it flow!" she said.
"We knew we could count on you, Sonic!" someone said.
"Soak it to 'em, guys!" she said and ran into a fire station and told the fire chief about the robots.
"I got firefighters in every part of this city, and trucks are on the lookout. We'll blast those bad boys 'til they're good and soggy!" Fire Chief said.
"Thanks, Captain."
Upon leaving the fire station, Sonic saw Knuckles taking on a group of robots on his own.
"Yo, Knuckles!" she said and Knuckles looked up to see her break through the barricade and stopped at his side.
They managed to hold the appliances back.
"Well, it's about time. I'm getting attacked by everything but the kitchen sink." Knuckles said.
"Too bad usin' our fists isn't gonna work for long. Water's all that really works on 'em. The firefighters are on their way. You and I'll have to do our best to fight 'em back in the meantime."
Upon hearing the sound of familiar laughter, Sonic looked up to see Eggman, Bocoe, Decoe, and Bokkun.
'Oh great.' Sonic and Knuckles thought.
"Well, Sonic. I must commend you and your valiant efforts to annihilate my army of attacking appliances, but I'm afraid my menacing machines are still on the march." Eggman said.
The Eggmobile broadcasted a signal across the city, and all electronic devices surround Sonic and Knuckles.
Meanwhile the fire crews were working to contain the appliances.
"Somebody must have cut down the main supply. We're losin' water pressire by the minute." Firefighter 1 said.
"Get on the horn to the water bureau right away!" Firefighter 2 said and the water reservoir.
The X-Tornado landed outside the reservoir, and Nelson, Tails, and Amy climbed out. As expected, two appliance robots lumber out of the building. Amy drew her hammer.
"Okay!" she said.
After she destroyed the robots, they ran inside the building and up to the reservoir control area. After Nelson tapped a few buttons, several lights light up.
"It looks okay!" Tails said.
"Well, the water supply system itself had been restored, but I'm afraid that something must be jamming the main sluice gate. Whatever it is must be blocking toe flow of water." Nelson said.
"Is there any way you can fix it?" Amy asked.
"There's only one way, Amy, but it's not going to be easy." he said and picked up his cell phone.
Back at Thorndyke Mansion everyone was now in the living room.
"What's happening, Son?" Chuck asked on the phone.
"Well, I was able to restore the main supply system, but there seems to be something in the way of the sluice gate, so the water isn't getting out. We've got to get that gate open, and fast!" Nelson said over the phone.
"I'll take care of it."
Soon, Lindsey and Chris watched from the balcony as Tanaka and Chuck boarded Nelson's helicopter.
"Mom, can't I please go too?" Chris asked.
"Now Chris-" Lindsey started.
"Mom, please let me! Honest, I already feel a lot better! C'mon, I promise I'll be okay!" he said so she felt his forehead.
"Well, if you really truly want to go, I'll let you, but under one condition: I'm coming along with you, okay?" she said.
"Sure it's okay!"
Back at Station Square the appliance robots continued to fight their way toward Sonic and Knuckles, who showed signs of fatigue.
"Heheheh! When battling a washing machine, one can't be wishy-washy! My, these modern household conveniences certainly aren't inconvenient, aren't they, Sonic?" Eggman asked and laughed heartily. "Maybe you should've kept that medallion on!"
"Hey Bocoe, they sure do look worn out, don't they?" Decoe asked.
"You can say that again. A part of me feels bad for them. ...But I can always have that part removed, I suppose." Bocoe said.
"Whoa, just look at 'em! They're really mangling whose machines!" Bokkun said.
"Man, I'm runnin' out of steam..." Sonic said.
"I can't keep this up much longer..." Knuckles said and looked at her. "If only they were her or you had that medallion." he said and she looked at him.
"I'm not ready for them to know who I am Knux." she said and he nodded.
At the Station Square dam the helicopter landed and Chris, Tanaka, Lindsey, and Chuck disembark.
"Listen up. The main sluice gate's been destroyed for good, which means our only choice is to open up this valve. All right now, everybody get into position." Chuck said.
The four of them pulled on the valve with all their might, but to no avail. The X-Tornado approached to land.
"Here comes Dad!" Chris said.
The X-Tornado landed, and Tails, Amy, and Nelson disembarked and approach the others.
"What are you doing here, Son? Shouldn't you be at home in bed?" Nelson asked.
"I had to come and help. It's my responsibility."
"That's my boy."
"We've got work to do, darling." Lindsey said.
"Right."
With the added help, they were finally able to turn the valve and raise the gate, releasing the water.
"We did it! We did it!" Chris said and they hugged.
"Good job, dear!" Nelson said.
"Oh, darling!" Lindsey said.
Chuck and Tanaka fist bumped while Tails and Amy high-fived.
"Yeah!" they said.
Back at Station Square.
With the water restored, Sonic and Knuckles took hoses to the appliance robots.
Finally, the last of the robots spark and fell over.
"Well, I guess that does it." Sonic said.
"Yeah." Knuckles said.
"Impossible! I could have sworn we cut off the water supply!" Eggman said.
"Someone must have turned it back on, Doctor!" Decoe said.
"Looks like your plan is a washout, Doctor." Bocoe said.
"And just when we were this close to stopping Sonic once and for all!" Eggman said.
"I thought she was a goner, but she sure showed us, didn't she?" Bokkun asked.
"Well, what is the plan?" Decoe asked.
"Yeah, Doctor, what do we do now?" Bocoe asked.
"On to the next strategy!" Eggman said and the Eggmobile took off.
"Wait for me, will ya? Come on, you guys, wait up!" Bokkun said then followed, and they were out of sight.
At the Station Square dam.
"Well, what do we do now? We've got a city full of defective dishwashers and mashed-up microwaves." Chuck said.
"If I stay on the job, cleanup should be a piece of cake." Nelson said.
"How about pie?" Chris asked and they shared a laugh.
Meanwhile Sonic and Knuckles were talking.
"You need to go get that medallion." Knuckles said.
"No. I can't." Sonic said. "Tails will figure it out and then everyone else will and it will go nuts!" she said and he sighed knowing she was right.
"Fine."
