A GUN ship was travelling through a foggy ocean. Visibility was near zero. Topaz' radio crackled as she speaks.
"Headquarters, this is the Seahawk. We're running through heavy fog. Visibility is near zero. Come in, Headquarters. Do you read me?" Topaz said on the radio.
"You're breaking up, Seahawk. Please repeat!" officer said over the radio.
"I don't know where all this interference is coming from, sir, unless there's somebody out there jamming our signals." Crew 1 said.
"What's that?" Crew 2 asked.
"You spot something?" Commander said.
"We're picking up a large object heading straight for us, sir!" Topaz said.
"What is it, a ship?"
The ship's captain was looking out the front of the ship through binoculars.
"I don't think so." Captain said as the ship approached a lit area in the water from which steam rose.
"Sound the alarm." Commander said.
As the alarm sounded, several crew gathered around the commander.
"Headquarters, this is the Seahawk calling! Over!" Topaz said on the radio.
"Go ahead, Seahawk." Officer said over the radio.
Then the vents in the water started expanding.
"We've encountered an unknown vessel and we're under attack!" Topaz said on the radio.
Then a bight light filled the cabin.
"Seahawk, what's going on? Over." officer said over the radio.
At the Intelligence Agency.
"Turn us around, before *krrt* too late! Hurry!" Topaz said over the radio.
"Seahawk, what in blazes is happening out there?" Officer asked on the radio.
"...Mayday! May-"
Then a red indicator light started flashing.
"Seahawk, do you read me?... Seahawk, come in!... Seahawk!... Seahawk!... Seahawk!" officer said on the radio.
As the lights in the water moved away, the only sign that the Seahawk was ever there was a life preserver with "Seahawk" printed on it floating in the water.
At Thorndyke Mansion Tanaka was practicing using a samurai sword outside, while the TV played the news inside.
"Naval authorities report that the research vessel Seahawk is missing at sea. Rescue teams are combing the area for its last known position. So far, there are no signs of the vessel. These pictures were taken two days ago when it left on its mission. Details of that mission are being kept secret, but sources tell SSTV that everything seemed to be going well until early this morning when the crew radioed to report heavy fog." Scarlet said.
Chris, Chuck, and Sonic were watching the news, while Tails was playing a game of Jenga with Cream and Cheese.
"See? That's why I can't stand water." Sonic said.
"You like it if it's in a glass. That's a start." Cream said and Sonic displayed many sweatdrops, causing Tails to crack a smile.
"Maybe the ship hit something after it went into the fog." Chris said.
"A ship like that has instruments that let it navigate through fog safely. There may be something else going on here." Chuck said.
"What do you mean, Grandpa?"
"What if the Seahawk's disappearance wasn't an accident? Other vessels have encountered strange phenomena in that area. Perhaps we should take a yacht and have a look..."
"Does that mean you're going out on the ocean?" Cream asked.
"Yes, that's possible." he said and her eyes shimmered with unshed tears.
"You're thinking that Emel's down there somewhere." Chris said.
"Hey, Cream! I'm gonna go outside and pick a whole bunch of flowers. Wanna join me?" Sonic asked.
"Sure! We can give them to my mom and Ella." Cream said.
"Chao chao!" Cheese said.
At the White House the President, Christina, the President's Third Aide, and Rouge were listening to a tape recording from the incident.
"...Mayday! May-" Topaz said over the radio.
"Our rescue teams searched the entire area, but haven't found a single sign of the Seahawk or its crew. How could a ship of that size disappear without leaving a trace?" the president asked.
"Well, what if somebody made the ship disappear? If a ship was planning to steal a ship, he'd make sure not to leave any evidence behind that can clue in the cops. Maybe we have a robbery on our hands." Rouge said.
"I hope you're wrong, Rouge. That ship is packed with top-secret communications equipment that can easily tap into data from all our military satellites." P.T.A. said.
"What's your point?" the president asked.
"Mr. President, if some maniac were to capture that ship, he'd have access to all the data in our defense network, and he could easily bring the entire country to it's knees!"
"Hm. I think I smell a rotten egg." Rouge said.
"Eggman. ... I hate to say it, but you may be right, Rouge. This is just the insane plot he'd come up with." the president said.
On Eggman's ship Eggman was busily typing on a keypad and Decoe and Bocoe were sitting behind him.
"Computers make evil so easy!" Eggman said and laughed.
"You have been hunched over that keyboard for hours, Doctor. It is bad for your posture." Decoe said.
"At least try to sit up straight when you type. Otherwise, you may hurt yourself." Bocoe said.
"I already have a big pain in the neck: you!" Eggman said and pulled up a webpage depicting Knuckles. ""Knuckles discovers world's oldest map. Renowned archaeologist Dr. Cadberry studying the ancient document at Pukapito Palace." Mm... Let's drop by."
At Pukapito Palace Dr. Cadberry entered a room and turned on the light. He crossed to the other side of the room, and, putting his hand to the side of another door, watched it slide open. Inside was a secret filing cabinet. He opened one of the drawers and pulled out an old map.
"This map proves my theory. I can announce that the world's oldest mystery has finally been solved." Dr. Cadberry said.
Just then a pair of sarcophagi behind him open. Inside them were Decoe and Bocoe, who were both wrapped like mummies.
"Are you ready?" Decoe said.
"For the first time, I feel totally wrapped up in my work." Bocoe said.
The two robots lumbered out of the sarcophagi toward Dr. Cadberry, who finally noticed them.
"Huh? What the...?" Dr. Cadberry asked.
"Silence..." Bocoe said.
"Grave robber, give us our map!" Decoe said and Dr. Cadberry cowered back in fear.
Then Decoe and Bocoe ran outside with the map they had just stolen from Dr. Cadberry.
"Mission accomplished!" Bocoe said.
"We get the mummyload this time! Now we must book back to the base!" Decoe said and they took off, ditching their wraps.
Inside Dr. Cadberry pressed a button for the alarm before he passed out.
At Eggman's ship Decoe and Bocoe showed up.
"Good work. You deserve raises... if I start paying you." Eggman said and turned back around in his chair and laughed while looking at it.
Then he folded it up and put it in a slot.
"Now let's check this out." he said.
Then the computer screen projected an image of the map. Code flashed by as the continents started moving into their present places. More code quickly scrolled by.
"Oh?" Decoe said.
"Where is that?" Bocoe said.
"It's this world as it looked ages ago, and the computer can take us further into the past." Eggman said.
"Wow, that is cool!" Decoe said.
"Can you visit chat rooms?" Bocoe asked.
"Can it, you clods. Now where could it be?" Eggman asked.
At last, one particular spot neared the top left of the map was pinpointed.
"Now I have exactly the information I've been looking for!" Eggman said. "The geographic location of Murasia!" he shouted out then turned back to the map and rose his fist.
"What is Murasia?" Bocoe asked.
"I don't know, but it sounds contagious." Decoe said.
"My dream of building an Eggman Empire is alive and well. Thanks to the map, the people of this planet will finally be forced to acknowledge that I rule." someone said and cackled.
At Thorndyke Mansion a car pulled up at the front of the mansion. Ella answered the door to see Knuckles and Dr. Cadberry.
"Ah, hello, Knuckles." she said.
"Very nice to see you, Ella." Knuckles said.
"Uh... have we met before?" she asked Dr. Cadberry.
"Mo, Madam, but I'm delighted to make your acquaintance now." Dr. Cadberry said.
"Dr. Cadberry!" Tanaka said and Knuckles and Dr. Cadberry turned around to see him holding a rake.
"Tanaka! You were in my archaeology class years ago!"
"Your perfect memory has not failed you! That class changed my entire life, Doctor!" Tanaka said and covered his face to hide his tears of joy.
"You mean that's what inspired you to become a butler?"
"Yes. You taught that household servants played a vital role throughout history." Tanaka said and swung his rake around a little bit.
"You always were unique."
Later Chuck, Tanaka, Chris, Sonic, Knuckles, and Dr. Cadberry were sitting in the lab. Chuck was typing on a computer.
"I was at the palace doing some research when those two thugs attacked me and ran away with the map." Dr. Cadberry said.
"It's not a total loss, though. At least we have a digital copy." Knuckles said and Chuck pulled up an image of the map.
"Interesting. Why were you studying it?" Chuck asked.
"Are you familiar with the legend of Murasia?" Dr. Cadberry asked.
"Was it a place?" Sonic asked and he nodded.
"Murasia is a continent that sank into the sea. It was the home of a spectacular civilization that flourished and died long ago. According to the legend, the Murasians possessed a highly-advanced culture that accomplished spectacular feats of engineering." he said. "However, in spite of all its amazing achievements, the magnificent Murasian civilization was wiped out in an instant."
"If the legends are even partly true, then the ruins of that civilizations could hold priceless secrets." Knuckles said.
"First the Seahawk is lost, and then this map is stolen. I have a feeling there's some kind of connection, but I'm not sure what it could be." Chuck said.
"The Seahawk was searching for Murasia. It was using this map as a guide. You see, the map reveals the continents of our world as they were in the distant past. Here, I'll show you. Now, when we adjust the data..." Dr. Cadberry said and typed on the computer, and the singular continent appears.
Its land massed move until they align with the present-day continented.
"...it reveals how our world appeared prior to the volcanic eruption that destroyed Murasia." he said and a tiny land mass started flashing. "You see there? One piece is missing, just like in a jigsaw puzzle. It's the final clue we need to find the lost continent."
"I see it now. That is where Murasia was located." Tanaka said.
"Exactly."
The location of Murasia moved to near the center of the map.
"Further analysis reveals that a piece of the continent survived the disaster, a tiny island that exists to this day. And that's exactly where the Seahawk disappeared."
Later a ship prepared to leave the dock. The X-Tornado was loaded on the ship. A marching band played. Cream, Cheese, and Vanilla stood on the dock, holding one end of a group of streamers with the leaving party is holding the other end of.
"Bye-bye now!" Cream said.
"Chao-chaaao!" Cheese said.
"Have a safe voyage!" Vanilla said.
Chuck, Sonic, Dr. Cadberry, Tanaka, Tails, Chris, Knuckles, Amy, and Ella were prepared to set sail.
"Later!" Tails said.
"Bye, guys!" Chris said.
"We'll take lots of pictures for ya!" Amy said.
"Bye, sweetie!" Ella said.
"Bye, and be careful!" Cream said.
The ship sailed for days. One sunset, Chuck pointed to a spot on the map which everyone but Tails and Amy were gathered around.
"Getting there won't be easy." he said.
"That island is really just the top of a huge volcano. There's a whole chain of volcanoes underwater here, making this one of the most unstable regions in the whole world." Dr. Cadberry said.
"This whole story seems wacky to me." Sonic said.
"The doctor knows what he's talkin' about." Knuckles said. "You're just getting nervous because you're surrounded by H2O." he said teasing.
"Water doesn't scare me anymore!... I just don't like gettin' wet."
'Besides, if I had to I could just teleport to safety.' she thought.
The next day, the ship neared an island with a volcano. Chris was standing at the bow of the ship with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy.
"Well, there it is, guys." Amy said.
"Let's go ashore now so we can get off this tub." Sonic said.
"You're not in charge here, Sonic." Knuckles said.
'Even though you're a princess.' he thought.
Inside, an object appeared on the radar.
The others joined Chris and co. at the bow of the ship.
"Look there!" Dr. Cadberry said.
The water in front of them bubbled. The group looked on in amazement and horror as the water exploded into the air, soaking everyone. The impact was enough to rock the boat in such a way that the X-Tornado, in its X-Cyclone form, to topple over.
"Aah! The X-Tornado!" Tails said as a giant craft started rising from the water.
The giant craft dwarfed the boat as it finished rising out of the water. The unmistakable Eggman logo was at the bow of the ship.
"That ship belongs to Eggman!" Amy said.
Bokkun flew down with his TV to the bow of Dr. Cadberry's ship.
"Capt'n Eggman has an important maritime message for ya!" he said and the TV activated to show a close-up of Eggman.
Steam flared from his nostrils.
"Surrender to me now. My new Egg Battleship has enough firepower to take on the Navy, the Air Force, and Sonic too!" Eggman said.
"You stole that map from Dr. Cadberry!" Sonic said and Eggman leaned in toward the screen.
"You think so? Now why would I do a thing like that?"
"Just because you're so despicable." Amy said.
"That map led me here to the world's hot spot."
"I don't follow you." Chuck said.
"I do. A hot spot is supposedly the weakest part of a planet's crust. If a volcano inside the hot spot erupts, all the other volcanoes in the world erupt too, but no respectable geologist believe such a bizarre theory." Dr. Cadberry said.
"Well, excuse me, Mr. I-Know-Everything. But whether you realize it or not, you're floating above a hot spot right now!" Eggman said flattering.
"Now I see what you're getting at. The legends are vague, but it's possible that the Murasians somehow caused the deadly volcanic eruptions."
"Didn't any Murasians survive?" Chuck asked.
"It's likely the Murasians were all wiped out. There's no trace of them in the archaeological record after the volcano erupted."
"I don't have time to listen to you academic airheads discuss a bunch of scholarly mumbo-jumbo, thank you!" Eggman said. "The Murasians cracked open that hotspot once and sank a continent! Now I'm going to blast it open and cause a worldwide catastrophe! And on the ruins that remain, I'll build the Eggman Empire!" he said and the TV turned off.
"Oh yeah!" Sonic and leapt toward the Egg Battleship before executing a homing attack toward it.
On the Egg Battleship.
"Please." Eggman said.
In the ocean Eggman activated a deflective sail. Sonic bounced off of it and landed in the ocean.
"Sonic!" Chris said and ran to the edge of the ship and prepared to jump in.
"Mister Chris!" Tanaka said but it was too late.
Chris had already leapt into the water to save Sonic. He paddled over and soon reached the weary hedgehog.
"Don't worry! I'll save you!" Tanaka shouted out and threw a life preserver to Chris; but it struck Chris in the head, knocking him out.
"Thanks, Tanaka!" Sonic said angry and missiles started to rain down around them.
On the Egg Battleship.
"Fire! Fire!" Eggman said.
In the ocean the explosions and gushing water rocked the boat causing Sonic to lose her grip on the life preserver.
Chris regained consciousness and grabbed onto both Sonic and the life preserver.
"It's okay, Sonic! I've got ya!" he said but an explosion rocked them further from the boat.
Meanwhile, Amy was on top of the X-Tornado as Tails and Chuck made repairs.
"They're in danger! Can't you fix this thing faster?" Amy asked.
"I'm trying, Amy! We need a little more time!" Tails said.
Then another explosion rocked the boat. Sonic was clinging to Chris.
"It's hard to swim! The waves are really rough!" Chris said.
"We have to try!" Sonic said.
On the Egg Battleship Eggman was having too much fun missing his missiles.
On the ship.
"Sir, we've spotted something on the sonar." Navigator said over the radio.
"Can't this wait?! I'm a little busy right now!" Chuck said on the radio.
"But sir, there's another ship coming this way! It's surfacing now!"
Ella, Tanaka, and Dr. Cadberry gathered to see what the object could be.
"Who could that be?" Dr. Cadberry asked.
The dot on the radar moved closer and closer. Suddenly, a massive object raised out of the water resembling Eggman's old Egg Fort, but silver in color. Known as the GUN Fort V3, it launched a pair of missiles that damage the Egg Battleship.
On the GUN Fort V3 Rouge was one of the crew inside the Gun Fort. The other crew wore yellow suits with logos that resemble the Star Trek logo.
"We caught him by surprise. Dr. Eggman has his defenses down. Now we can blast 'em out of the water." GUN Gunner said.
On the ship Tails and Chuck looked on in awe.
"All right!" Tails said.
"It's a government ship!" Chuck said.
On the Egg Battleship.
"Those blasted copycats salvaged my own ship from the ocean floor and now they use it to attack me!" Eggman said.
"They certainly are clever." Bocoe said.
"It just goes to the show the importance of recycling." Decoe said.
On the GUN Fort V3.
"Surrender now, Eggman, or we'll destroy your ship! Prepare to fire on my order!" GUN Pilot said.
"Aye-aye!" GUN Gunner said.
"I want in on the action too." Rouge said.
"You're only aboard this ship as an observer, Rouge. Lock on target!" GUN Pilot said.
Then the GUN Fort V3's cannons locked on to the Egg Battleship.
On the Egg Battleship.
"If you want to play chicken, I'll be happy to clip your wings!" Eggman said.
In the ocean the Egg Battleship's sails extend, and it took off into the air. It turned to face the GUN Fort V3, and several oars extended from it. Amy, Tails, and Chuck watched in awe. Chris, who was about to climb the ladder with Sonic, also stares.
On the Egg Battleship.
"This will crash their party." Eggman said.
The ocean was revealed that the oars were really colons that started to fire upon the GUN Fort V3.
On the GUN Fort V3 the GUN Captain saw the missiles coming and reacted quickly.
"Let's get 'em, guys! Fire!" he said.
In the ocean the GUN Fort V3 used its weaponry to counter Eggman's missiles as well as damage the Egg Battleship.
On the ship Chris and Sonic were now back on the boat. Chris was wrapped in a towel, and Tanaka cried tears of gratitude.
"I am so happy to see you!" he said.
"Don't cry. We've got enough water." Sonic said and they watched as GUN's resurrected Egg Fort whaled on the Egg Battleship.
On the Egg Battleship Decoe and Bocoe freaked out under the pressure.
"Do something!" they said.
"Well, what do you suggest, micromind?" Eggman asked and Decoe stopped squirming.
"You have to put up a fight, Doctor!" Decoe said and Eggman punched him out of his seat.
"How's that for starters, big mouth!"
In the ocean the GUN Fort V3 buzzed the Egg Battleship, slicing the starboard oar cannons off of Eggman's ship.
On the GUN Fort V3.
"Dr. Eggman should've surrendered when he had the chance." GUN Gunner said.
On the ship Tails and Chris were inside the newly-repaired X-Cyclone, ready to take off. Sonic and Knuckles stood on the nose of the craft, and Amy and Chuck were on the sidelines.
"Everything's set for takeoff!" Tails said as the X-Cyclone lifted into the air. "Transform, X-Tornado!" he said and the X-Cyclone quickly changed into the X-Tornado and flew toward the Egg Battleship.
On the Egg Battleship.
"We're trapped!" Decoe said.
"There's still one way out." Eggman said.
Outside the Eggman emblem's eyes glow blue, and a live feed was projected. The image showed the captive crew of the Seahawk. Topaz and the GUN Commander exchanged a few words.
On the GUN Fort V3.
"It's Topaz! She's still alive!" Rouge said.
Outside Eggman laughed before speaking through a voice amplifier.
"Stay away! If you destroy my ship, your comrades will go down with me! Gahahah!" he said.
"Eggman, let them go!" Knuckles said.
"Fat chance. I'm holding them hostage, just to make sure I get what I came for."
The Egg Battleship was struck from behind by a missile fired by the GUN Fort V3.
On the GUN Fort V3 Rouge was trying to wrest the controls away from the GUN Pilot.
"Wait!" Rouge said.
"Back away. Hostages are not my jobs to stop Eggman. If you try to stop us, we'll treat you like an enemy." GUN Pilot said and one of the GUN Gunners pointed his gun at Rouge, causing her to let go. "Either way, we're doin' our job."
Outside the GUN Fort V3 unloaded its barrels of missile upon the Egg Battleship, further damaging it and snapping its oars.
On the Egg Battleship.
"They're still attacking me! What should I do now?" Eggman said.
"We could start filling out claim forms for your insurance company." Bocoe said.
On the X-Tornado.
"Those hostages need our help." Chris said.
"No sweat, Chris! Ready for action, Sonic?" Tails asked.
"Watch me!" Sonic said so the X-Tornado sped toward the GUN Fort V3, guns a blazing.
On the GUN Fort V3.
"Hey, whose side are they on?" GUN Pilot asked.
With the distraction, Rouge kicked the GUN Gunner aside, caught his gun, and snapped it in half.
"All I need is ten minutes tops." she said.
"Okay. But when your time runs out, I start shooting." GUN Gunner said and Rouge hurried away.
On the Egg Battleship.
"It appears they are holding their fire." Decoe said.
"Now's our chance. Head for the island, quickly!" Eggman said.
Outside as the Egg Battleship turned toward the island, Rouge flew out of the GUN Fort V3 toward Eggman's ship. Sonic and Knuckles saw this.
"Not her again!" Knuckles said.
"He's headin' for Eggman's ship. We have to distract him somehow!" Sonic said.
"Go for it, Tails!"
The X-Tornado bombarded the Egg Battleship with a pair of missiles to distract him while Rouge flew in through one of the Eggman emblem's eyes.
On the Egg Battleship Rouge landed inside the ship and looked around before moving on.
Outside the X-Tornado riddled the Egg Battleship with lasers.
In the Egg Battleship Eggman's console started sparking as a result of the damage it took. He tried to repair it.
"Why didn't I just become a dentist?" Eggman said.
Outside the X-Tornado blast the Egg Battleship again.
In the Egg Battleship the cockpit was now smoking and Decoe and Bocoe panicking.
"It's time to use our heavy artillery." Eggman said.
"You don't mean...?" Decoe and Bocoe said.
"I'll finish them with one blast!"
Decoe and Bocoe attempted to pull Eggman away from the controls.
"But you have to make the volcanoes erupt! Aren't you forgetting that you want to rule the world?" Decoe said.
Eggman threw Decoe and Bocoe off of him.
"I've just changed my mind! I want revenge!" he said.
A screen lowered, and Eggman started tapping buttons on the screen and console. His henchbots deadpan.
"He is dependable." Bocoe said.
"Yes; no matter what, Dr. Eggman never fails to let you down." Decoe said.
Outside a large cannon extended out of the top of the Egg Battleship. It twinkled in the sunlight before it started to charge with energy.
"What's that?" Sonic said.
Everyone was bathed in a red glow by the cannon.
On the Egg Battleship.
"Fire energy ray!" Eggman said.
Outside the cannon started crackling with energy.
"There's nothing we can do." Dr. Cadberry said.
Sonic and Knuckles leapt into the air toward the crackling energy. However, they were electrocuted by the energy, and fell toward the GUN Fort V3. The energy ball grew brighter.
"Surrender now, or we will fire the energy ray in ten seconds!" Decoe said.
Sonic and Knuckles were still falling.
"We don't have any time!" Knuckles said.
"We can't give up! Maybe if we attack it together!" Sonic said.
"It's worth a try!"
Then they landed on the GUN Fort V3, then immediately leapt into the air. They held hands before spinning rapidly together. Then they formed a deadly ball that hurtled toward the charging and growing energy ball. They collided with the cannon, destroying it completely. Eggman screamed as his console short out. Knuckles glided to safety, and Sonic landed on her back. The X-Tornado picked them up. They fist-bump, wink, and gave thumbs-ups to celebrate.
"All right!" Sonic and Knuckles said.
At the Egg Battleship Eggman, Decoe, and Bocoe ran around in panic as the Egg Battleship plummeted toward the sea.
"We are doomed!" Decoe said.
"Oh dear oh dear oh dear!" Eggman said. "Oh..." he said and paused in realization.
"We still have our hostages!" they said.
"Not anymore." someone said.
Rouge lead the freed prisoners into the cockpit. The prisoners pointed their weapons at Eggman, Decoe, and Bocoe, causing them to sweatdrop.
"Face it, Doc. There's no way out this time." Rouge said and the mad doctor used a diversionary tactic.
"Hey, where'd my Chaos Emerald go?" he said and Rouge looked around.
"Huh?" she said.
The diversion had worked. Eggman and his hench-bots were gone.
Outside the heavily-damaged Egg Battleship landed on the water and Eggman and his hench-bots had escaped in the Eggmobile.
"Stop pushing! Back off! I can't steer!" someone said.
Eggman flew the Eggmobile toward the island.
"Oh, Rouge..." Topaz said.
"Sorry..." Rouge said.
On the ship.
"Maybe this trip was a big mistake. Maybe we never should've come." Dr. Cadberry said.
Ella, Tanaka, and Amy left the deck, leaving just Chuck and Dr. Cadberry.
"If Eggman finds the ruins of Murasia, it could be dangerous." Chuck said.
"Yes... I'm beginning to think that Dr. Eggman was right, and that this place really is a hot spot."
Sonic and Knuckles said nothing as the X-Tornado flew toward the island.
