Super Sonic was zipping around through space above Earth.
Several small light shone before fading and she emerged amidst the wreckage of several destroyed robots panting from the exertion.
'He's tougher than I thought. I'd better finish this.' she though and looked up.
Dark Oak uncrossed his arms and drew a large golden sword. They charged toward each other, colliding in a bright light and Super Sonic was thrown backward panting as Dark Oak floated down, his cape rippling.
"Your defeat is certain. Give me the Chaos Emeralds, and I will spare your life." Dark Oak said and she spread out her hands and let the seven Chaos Emeralds orbit her.
"If you want them you're gonna have to find them! Chaos Control!" she said and he watched as she used Chaos Control to scatter the Emeralds across the universe.
Without the power of the Emeralds, she plummeted to Mobius below and he looked down at a sparking injury he had received in his conflict with her.
"Sonic has only delayed my triumph. Those emeralds will be mine." he said and started to broadcast a message through the entire galaxy. "Alert my forces across the galaxy. Begin my search for the Chaos Emeralds at once. Do not rest until you bring them all to me."
Several red eyes flashed behind him as he flew away from Earth and contacted the rest of his army, known as the Metarex.
"Remove the Planet Egg." he said and disappeared in a red twinkle as something descended toward Earth.
As Sonic fell, she reverted back to her normal form.
At Green Hill it was nighttime, and Amy and Cream were with Tails as he was stargazing with a camera ready to record and a picnic set up.
"How much longer do we have to wait, Tails?" Cream asked.
"I'm not exactly sure, Cream. Not too long." Tails said.
"This would be so romantic if Sonic were here to see it with me! Soon the whole sky will be filled with shooting stars!" Amy said and he looked up from the camera.
"According to the astronomers, we'll only get a meteor shower this humongus once every five hundred years or so. We're really lucky to be here." he said and looked back through the camera.
"I certainly wouldn't want to wait that long to see it again, would you?" Cream said.
"Chao!" Cheese said.
"If Sonic was here, it would be way more romantic." Amy said.
"She's probably on another adventure." Tails said.
"Amy, you should wish about Sonic upon a shooting star." Cream said.
"We should all make a wish!" Amy said and Tails looked up, confused.
"Why should we do that?" he asked.
"Chris told us when you make a wish whenever you see a shooting star, it'll come true, remember, Tails?" Cream said.
"Chris told us about it." Amy said.
"Yeah. It's too bad Chris and Chuck aren't here to see this with us right now." Tails said.
Just then everyone looked up as a shooting star flew past. Tails looked back through the camera.
"Ah!" Amy and Cream said.
"It's starting!" Tails said as many more shooting stars fled by.
"They look like fireworks!" Cream said.
"I'm sure glad I brought a camera." he said when one of the shooting stars headed right toward them. "Huh?"
"That sure is a weird looking meteor." Amy said.
"If I didn't know better, I'd say it's heading straight for us!" Cream said.
Tails looked up and they ducked as the object sailed right over them. It exploded in the distance. Smoke billowed from the impact zone as they ran there.
"That's no shooting star." Amy said and they ran over.
The object was a crashed spaceship. A young alien girl was unconscious nearby, clearly thrown from the ship. Tails held her up and she started to stir.
"She needs help." he said.
"Your house is the closest one around here, Cream. I think we should take her there." Amy said.
"We'll go tell Mother you're coming!" Cream said and flapped her ears, and she and Cheese took off."
"I wonder who she is, and where she came from..." Tails said to himself then looked up at the shooting stars.
Within the walls of Eggman's new tower base, Sonic was unconscious in a bed.
A bright light was shining on her from above. Then she slowly opened her eyes and looked around.
"It's about time." someone said so she turned to see Eggman sitting in a seat nearby and Eggman turned to him.
"Robotnik... what happened?" she asked.
"I've been sitting here for the better part of a week waiting for you to wake up and tell me." Eggman said.
In a flashback, Eggman and Bokkun were jogging together.
"I was out jogging to maintain my perfect physique when I spotted something." he narrated.
They stopped when they saw an injured and unconscious Sonic on the beach.
"You were in pretty bad shape, Sonic. You were battered like a fishstick." he said and the flashback ended. "It was a tough decision. I didn't know whether to save you, or wait for the tide to come in!" he said and laughed.
"You were in terrible shape, Sonic. Dr. Eggman saved your life." Bocoe said.
Decoe rubbed behind head.
"If he hadn't, he wouldn't have anybody to pick on." he said.
Bokkun floated down to Sonic's bed with a mug.
"So how'd you end up passed out on the beach, anyway?" he asked.
"I was fighting somebody." Sonic said and jumped up, splashing the drink onto his face and shrugs. "Hey, sorry, but I can't say anymore!" she said and dashed away, causing him to spin around.
"You're leaving?" Eggman said and she darted back.
"See you later, Robotnik." she said and left again.
"Hey! You owe us, Sonic!" Decoe said.
"You run fast, but when it comes to paying your debts, you sure are a slowpoke!" Bocoe said.
"Yeah!"
"What a deadbeat! Guhh!" Bokkun said.
"What should I do..." Eggman said to himself.
"Sonic, you ingrate!"
"That is the last time we help you!" Bocoe said.
"Yeah! Patients like you make me sick!" Decoe said.
Unbeknownst to Eggman, Rouge had been spying on him this whole time.
At Cream's house the alien girl was dreaming. In her dream, she is running from something. The wall exploded near her. A large Metarex creature could be seen. Its eyes glow red, and it turns to her.
"Cosmo! Run away!" someone said and Cosmo, was scared for her life.
Fortunately, it was all a dream, and her eyes snapped open.
"Look; she's waking up." someone said.
Vanilla, Tails, Cream, and Amy were looking at her in concern while Cosmo tried to sit up.
"Careful, dear. Don't try to get up." Vanilla said and Cosmo turned to them.
"You were in a big crash. You're really lucky that you didn't have any serious injuries." Amy said.
"Maybe you could tell us your name and where you and your ship came here from." Cream said and Cosmo slowly nodded.
"Just as I thought." Amy said aside of Cream.
"What's your name?"
"I'm..." Cosmo started but covered her mouth and shook her head. "I can't."
"You mean... you can't remember?" Cream said confused.
"I can, but I... can't tell you." Cosmo said and the others were surprised.
"Why?" Tails asked.
"I'm looking for somebody on this planet named Sonic the Hedgehog. It's very important that I speak with her as soon as possible before it's too late." she said and Amy tapped her foot.
"You can talk to us. We'll help you if we can. What's the matter?" Tails said and she looked down, ashamed.
"I can't tell you."
Amy was angry, thinking Cosmo was in love with Sonic.
"Well, I have a right to know what this is all about!" she said.
"Huh?"
"Sonic's my girlfriend, and you better not be trying to move in on her!" Amy said and Cream put her hand on Amy's chest to calm her down.
"Amy, she didn't come here to date her!" Cream said while Cosmo blinked in surprise.
"We're friends with Sonic, so maybe we can help." Tails said.
"Friends?" Cosmo said.
"My name's Miles Prower, but everybody calls me by my nickname Tails."
"I'm Cream. We're very happy to meet-" Cream said but was cut off by a still upset Amy.
"And my name's Amy Rose! You aren't gonna be here long, are you?!" Amy said.
"Sonic is out right now. I don't know when she's coming back. Why don't you talk to us instead?" Tails said.
"I'm sorry." Cosmo said.
"You really can't?"
Cosmo slowly nodded and Tails scratched his head in confusion.
Suddenly they heard a noise from outside and Tails, Amy, and Cream moved over to the window.
"What's that?" Cream asked.
Then the clouds started to part, and a dark figure descends into Mobius' atmosphere.
"It's somethin' big..." Tails said.
"You should stay in bed." Vanilla said and they turned around to see her helping a shaky Cosmo to stand and walk to the window.
The dark figure was more prominent now appearing to be made of metal. A fearful Cosmo appeared to recognize it.
"It's another Metarex..." Cosmo said.
At Angel Island Knuckles was sleeping with Chomps next to him in front of the Master Emerald. Then they woke up and saw the metallic monster, known as Metarex Carrer, descending into the forest below. Unlocking its arms, it dwarfs the entire forest.
"This looks like... trouble." Knuckles said.
"Uh hu! Uh hu!" Chomps said and its giant red eye started glowing.
The horns on its head started glowing, and red lightning streaks across the forest, destroying trees and essentially obliterating the forest.
"If that thing isn't stopped, it's gonna burn up every tree in the forest!" Knuckles said as the entire forest was ablaze. "Hey! Knock it off, ya firebug!" he said, leapt down from the island and tried to punch the Metarex Carrer, but no damage was done.
Carrer swept him away with its left hand and Knuckles flew a good several hundred feet away, and landed on his feet. Just then, several rockets sped down, and struck Carrer, doing no damage. Knuckles looked up to see the X-Tornado.
"Knuckles!" Tails said.
"All right. Maybe we can stop him together." Knuckles said and Chomps nodded.
Cosmo was also in the X-Tornado.
"This doesn't look good." Tails said as Metarex Carrer kept destroying the forest and Knuckles charged toward it.
"Looks like our only choice is to keep pounding away!" Knuckles said.
"We're going on the attack. Are you ready?" Tails asked Cosmo.
"Yes." Cosmo said.
As Tails turned the X-Tornado toward Metarex Carrer, Amy, Cream, and Cheese approached saddened when they saw Carrer still striking the forest with lightning.
"The whole forest's on fire..." Cream said.
"This can't be a coincidence." Amy said as the X-Tornado looped around Carrer. "I have a feeling that girl may know why this is happening. I wish there was a way to convince her to talk to us."
The moment was tense. Cosmo watched as Knuckles leapt toward Carrer, but the giant Metarex swooped him away. The X-Tornado blast Carrer, doing no damage.
"Our lasers have no effect." Tails said.
"You need to use much stronger attacks if you're ever going to beat a Metarex." Cosmo said.
"Do you know why it came here, or why it's destroying all the trees?"
"Its mission... is to find the life force of this planet and steal it away."
Just then Sonic blazed by the X-Tornado, slamming into Metarex Carrer with incredible force and knocking it over.
"It's Sonic!" Amy and Cream said.
"Chao!" Cheese said.
Tails and Cosmo also saw Sonic.
"She's back!" Tails said smiling.
In her excitement, Cosmo leapt up, and banged her head on the X-Tornado's canopy.
"Are... you okay?" Tails asked.
"Yes." she said and looked up. "So that's Sonic. Our final hope."
But Carrer wasn't done. It promptly stood up again, but was still smoking from the damage Sonic had done to it.
"You're the one who's goin' down in flames now!" she said and smugly rubbed her nose.
"Heads up, Sonic!" Tails said and the X-Tornado launched a ring to her, and she caught it.
"Thanks, Tails!" she said and executed a ring-powered spin toward Carrer, but the giant Metarex's armor caused her to bounce off.
Carrer then opened several compartments in its chest, and several claws moved toward Sonic, but she dodged them. Knuckles flew at Carrer, but was punched back by one of its claws and landed roughly next to Sonic, bruised and battered.
"It's... pretty tough." he said and Sonic looked up at Carrer.
"Yeah, but we can beat him, buddy." she said and Knuckles stood up.
"Got a plan."
"Double team him. Let's go!" she said and raced back into battle, followed by Knuckles.
In the X-Tornado, Cosmo looked down at Sonic.
"I thought Sonic would move much more quickly than she does." she said and Tails noticed that Sonic wasn't moving as fast as usual.
"Something's not right. Sonic is not moving as fast as she usually does." he said.
Metarex Carrer supercharged its horns, and unleashed red lightning around Sonic and Knuckles. The X-Tornado fired more missiles at Carrer, but to no avail.
"This is impossible. No matter how hard we hit that thing, it keeps going!" Tails said.
"You'll have to use the Chaos Emeralds to stop this thing. I'll distract it with a frontal attack so you can move in and finish it off." Knuckles said.
"I'd like to, but I don't happen to have the Chaos Emeralds with me right now." Sonic said and he was a mixture of confused and shocked.
"Wh... where are they?" he asked and she rubbed her head.
"Well, I kinda got into this fight out in space, and the bad guy was gonna take 'em from me, so I sent 'em away." she said and he blinked.
"You finally had all seven Chaos Emeralds together... and you threw them away?"
"Exactly." she said and he grabbed her.
"Are you crazy?! What are we gonna do?!"
"I guess we're gonna have to find 'em again!" she said unfazed. "I don't wanna do it either. But we don't have a choice."
They were too busy squabbling that they didn't see one of Carrer's claws coming at them and punched both of them away. Amy and Cream ran to the edge of a cliff.
"Oh no!" Amy said.
"Are you okay?" Cream asked and another claw sped toward them.
"Look out!" Amy said and tackled Cream to the ground as the claw soared right over their heads.
"Chao-chao-chao-chao!" Cheese said frantically.
A bright blue light suddenly emerged out of the ground in front of Metarex Carrer and smoke rose from the area.
"PROCEEDING WITH PLANET EGG REMOVAL." Carrer said and the ground started to open up where the light was coming from.
"Oh no!" Cosmo said.
Amy and Cream shield their eyes as the light became even brighter. As it died down, there was a smoldering crater where it once was. A glowing stone rose from the crater and started to float upward.
"What in the world is that?" Knuckles said.
Tails and Cosmo also saw the stone.
"He's found the Planet Egg..." Cosmo said.
"What's the Planet Egg?" Tails asked.
"It's the life force that sustains your world."
As a result of the Planet Egg's removal, the ground started to become parched, and the trees started dying.
"The Planet Egg is what gives your world the power to support life. Without it, every living thing here will soon perish." she said.
The sky changed from red to blue as the shocked Mobians look on. Metarex Carrer took hold of the Planet Egg.
"PROCEDURE COMPLETE. LIFT OFF!" Carrer said and started levitating.
"Hold it!" Sonic said and spun into the air, but one of Carrer's claws shocked her, causing her to fall back to the ground.
"I got ya." Knuckles said, dove toward her and caught her at the last possible moment. "You OK?" he asked and she nodded as Amy and Cream ran in.
"Sonic! Knuckles!" Amy said as Carrer turned around and took off into the air.
"I'll stop that thing!" Tails said as Carrer folded up its claws and blast into space.
Then he started to feel the turbulence of the upper atmosphere of Mobius.
"I can't go any higher 'cause this plane wasn't designed to travel into space!" he said and looked back to see that Cosmo looked dizzy. "Are you all right, Cosmo?"
"I'm just... a little... dizzy..." Cosmo said and shook her head.
"I'm sorry. I just wish I got the Planet Egg back." he said and she reached up to the canopy.
"Could you... open this for a moment, please?" she asked and he tuned to look. "You can open it while you're flying, can't you?"
"Yeah, but I'm not sure it's a good idea to do it at this altitude."
"Please, Tails."
"Okay, if you really want me to..." he said and opened the canopy, and they felt the wind blowing through them. "There you go- Whaah!"
Before he knew it, Cosmo leapt out of the X Tornado and dove toward the ground below.
On the ground, Knuckles, Amy, Cream, and Cheese were concerned about Sonic.
"You didn't put up much of a fight against that thing, Sonic. Are you sure you're feeling okay?" Knuckles said.
"You don't seem like your old self." Amy said.
"It's been a long day, so I guess I'm a little tired." Sonic said.
'Maybe I should've used them and took my medallion off this time.' she thought.
Just then Cosmo floated to the ground in front of them. Dusting herself off, she turned to Sonic.
"My name is Cosmo. I've come a long way to see you. I need to speak with you, Sonic." she said.
"O-Okay." she said.
"I have sought you out because I know you have the power to control the Chaos Emeralds. I have come here because you are the one who can rescue the galaxy."
"I am?"
Meanwhile, Tails noticed something on Angel Island.
"What's that?" he asked and the Master Emerald was pulsating with light.
"Guys! It's happening!" someone said and the group turned to see Tails, having landed, running toward them.
"What's happening?" Tails and Knuckles said as the Master Emerald continued glowing in bursts.
Then Master Emerald's glow died down.
