Knuckles gently held onto a tired and sore Sonic.
Suddenly she collapsed.
"Sonic!" they said and gathered around her.
"Sonic, what's wrong?" Amy asked and Cosmo covered her mouth in shock.
"What happened?"
"Say something!" Knuckles said.
"Why isn't she waking up?" Amy asked and Tails felt Sonic's forehead.
"She's okay. I think she's just exhausted." he said.
"Yeah, I guess she still has to recover from that battle." Knuckles said and they nodded.
Later at Cream's house Vanilla was putting Sonic to bed.
"You rest now, Sonic." Vanilla said.
Later, everyone gathered in the living room, where Cosmo was recalling the events of earlier that day.
"Your friend Sonic was fighting against a Metarex." she said.
"A Metarex?" Amy said.
"I don't know how many there are, but they've been attacking planets all over the galaxy."
Several shots were shown of many Seedrians running from the Metarex, who had destroyed many civilizations.
"Their goal is to unify all the planets under one absolute rule." she said.
"Let me guess... their rule." Knuckles said.
A shot was shown of several Metarex Fighters in space.
"That's right. They've already extinguished so many planets."
"What do you mean, "extinguished"?" Amy asked.
A shot is shown of a Metarex stealing a Planet Egg.
"The Metarex don't just conquer planets. They take the Planet Eggs." Cosmo said.
"What?" Knuckles said.
"The Planet Eggs are like the hearts of planets."
A shot was shown of many planets dying as a result of having their Planet Eggs stolen.
"Without them, planets lose their power to nurture and sustain life. They become just cold, barren rocks drifting through space."
Then the shots ended.
"And now that they've taken your Planet Egg, your world will soon wither away, just like the others have." she said.
"Our planet will die?" Amy said and Cosmo nodded.
"That's right." she said.
"Excuse my asking, but how do we know you're not on their side?" Knuckles asked.
"Because I'm not! The Metarex are vicious, and they'll wipe out anything that gets in their way. I am not with them; you have to believe me!"
"I wish I could."
"I came here so that what happened to me might not happen to all of you. My planet is gone. Everyone I loved - my family, my friends, are..." she said as tears came from her eyes, and she buried her face in her hands. "Everything... everything is gone!"
Later, Tails shut the door to Sonic's room and turned to Amy, who had also left the room.
"She's calmed down a little. I think she'll be okay." Tails said.
"I can't believe that Knuckles was giving that poor thing such a hard time." Amy said.
"That's Knuckles." he said and she opened the door to Sonic's room, only to find the bed empty.
"Sonic's gone!"
"Oh no!" he said so they ran to the window and Amy looked at Sonic's empty bed. "She must have gone out the window!"
"She doesn't even say goodbye!"
"That's Sonic for ya. No matter what, she just takes off. She can't even stay still when she's passed out."
Meanwhile Sonic ran through the Mobian countryside and scaled a tall mountain. She looked down at the area where yesterday's battle occurred.
"That's weird... There's no wind." she said.
At Angle Island Knuckles was looking at the Master Emerald with Chomps next to him.
"Something's not right. I don't trust that Cosmo." he said.
"So, is it true, Knuckles?" someone asked and they turned around to see Rouge float down.
"Is what true, Rouge?"
"A little birdie told me that all seven Chaos Emeralds are gone."
"It's true. Sonic thought it'd be a good idea to scatter them into space." he said with a raised eyebrow then turned around and didn't see her fly away. "And not only that, a Metarex attacked, then Cosmo-" he said then realized Rouge was gone.
"See you around, Knuckie!"
"Hey! Rouge! Come back here! You've got a lot of nerve flying off while I'm still talking!" he said but she was already flying off the island. "Rouge!"
Outside Cream's house Cream was playing with Cheese and Cosmo was admiring the Mobian sky.
"Such a pretty place..." Cosmo said.
"I'm glad you like it! Our planet's great. Maybe you can learn to love it here." Cream said.
"Chao chao!" Cheese said.
"Maybe..." Cosmo said beaming. "She doesn't understand." she said to herself while Tails and Amy were bringing tea to Vanilla. "Without the planet Egg... her planet cannot survive. " she said to herself. "You know, Cream, if we don't get the Planet Egg back..." she said out loud.
"We will." someone said and Cosmo turned to see Cream looking at her. "We've got Sonic on our side. She'll make everything okay."
"But Cream, Sonic isn't strong without the Chaos Emeralds." Cosmos aid then Sonic immediately showed up.
"Well, then I guess we'll go have to find 'em." Sonic said and Cosmo blinked.
"I wish you had them now."
"Maybe there was something I could have done instead of sending of sending the Chaos Emeralds away. But it seemed like a good idea at the time."
There was a flashback to last night, when Super Sonic scattered the Chaos Emeralds.
"Chaos Control!" she said.
She used Chaos Control to scatter the Chaos Emeralds across the galaxy causing her to relinquish her Super ability and plummet to Mobius as the flashback ends.
"At least he didn't get the Emeralds." she said then saw how she got them back.
Then the door opened, and Tails and Amy walked outside.
"You must have been pretty wiped out after fighting that thing." Tails said.
"I was. But I transformed into Super Sonic and I thought it would be a cinch, but boy, was I wrong!" she said.
"Sonic, listen. The Metarex are extremely powerful. They've traveled through space and taken every Egg from every planet they've encountered except yours." Cosmo said.
"There's nothin' to worry about as long as Sonic's on the scene, Cosmo! We'll get all the Planet Eggs back!" she said. "I promise!"
'Even if I have to expose what I truly can do now.' she thought and put her hand on her medallion.
"A dangerous quest in outer space! Could anything be more romantic?" Amy said.
"Cheese and I wouldn't miss an adventure like this!" Cream said and stood up.
"You can count me in, Sonic!" Tails said.
"Great, then it's settled!" Sonic said. "We're going into outer space!" she said then pointed to the sky.
Later the group was descending the stairs into Tails' workshop.
"Tails, to go into space, won't we need a spaceship?" Amy asked and Tails pressed a button, turning on the overhead lights.
"Ta-daa!" he said and the light reveal a huge spaceship built by and Sonic gave an impressed whistle.
"It's so big!" Amy and Cream said together.
"It's a multi-purpose fully mobile flying fortress! I call it the Blue Typhoon, and with a few quick adjustments, we can even fly into space! Only..."
"Only what?" Sonic asked.
"I was planning on using the Chaos Emeralds as the power source. Now what are we gonna use?" he said and Amy pointed to something above her.
"I know what we can use!" she said.
At Angel Island Knuckles was searching for Rouge with on the other side.
"I shouldn't have told that batty Rouge anything." he said and saw a mountain and lake in front of him. "Oh no!" he said and turned around to see that the Master Emerald was gone. "The Master Emerald's gone!"
Back at Tails' workshop Amy was seated in a chair, carefully loading the Master Emerald into position. Tails supervised from the cockpit of the Blue Typhoon.
"The readings look good, Amy." he said.
"The Master Emerald oughta give us enough power to go interstellar!" she said then the group turned to see an angry Knuckles run in.
"What's the idea?!" he said.
"We're gonna borrow your Master Emerald for a little while." Sonic said.
"No way! It goes back where it was!"
"But we need it to go into outer space." Amy said.
"Outer space?" he said incredulous.
"We have to find the seven Chaos Emeralds so we have enough power to defeat Metarex." Cosmo said.
"We're going to travel across the galaxy, battle Metarex, and save planets! Doesn't it sound like the best adventure ever?" Cream said.
"It sounds just peachy." Knuckles said then looked at Sonic. "Now gimme back that Emerald, Sonic, or I'll come up there and take it!" he yelled and Cream shook in fury.
"Listen to you! You should be ashamed!"
"The fate of the entire galaxy is at stake!" Cosmo said and Knuckles cowered back as Amy approached him, hammer drawn.
"But if you won't listen to reason... maybe I could knock some reason into you. It'd be a pleasure." Amy said as her eye twinkled dangerously.
"H-Hey, let's calm down..." he said while Amy inched forward again and they started aggravating the poor him. "Sonic, please help me!" he said panicking.
"I'd like to, but I don't get involved in fights I can't win. You're on your own." Sonic said.
A montage started of the group working on the Typhoon. Tails, and Amy inspected the engine. Then, Tails showed the Typhoon's blueprints to Sonic.
"...See, if I take these wires, and attach them to the transformer which connects the Master Emerald..." he said and she nodded while Knuckles carried supplies.
And Sonic ran by with an equal amount of parts.
At the Blue Typhoon Cockpit Tails was looking over the controls and typed on a keyboard.
"So is the initial takeoff sequence ready? Prepare to activate the Master Emerald!" he said.
In space above Mobius Dark Oak broadcasted a message to a new Metarex, called Metarex Spike, who was approaching Mobius and Earth.
"Do not let them leave the planet. Stop the development of the spacecraft and destroy them." he said over the radio.
Then Metarex Spike entered the atmosphere.
At Green Hill Amy, Cream, and Cheese were carefully bringing food supplies toward the Typhoon.
"This should be the last of the supplies we have to haul from home. Of course, now we have to load everything onto the ship." Amy said.
"I can hardly believe it. Pretty soon we'll be taking off and speeding through-" Cream said then turned to see Cosmo sitting alone on a tree stump. "Hi, Cosmo." she said Cosmo looked up as Cream placed her bags down. "Would you mind carrying these downhill, please?" she asked and Cosmo looked startled but stood up anyway.
"Oh, okay." Cosmo said and struggled to pick up the bags.
"Are you sure you can handle it?"
"I got it." Cosmo said and hurriedly picked up the supplies, but found them too heavy.
Their weight caused her to stumble, drop them, and roll down the hill. Cream covers her mouth.
"She doesn't have it!" Cosmo said and the food spilled everywhere. "I'm okay..."
"Cosmo!" Cream said and she and Amy rushed over to her.
"Are you all right?" Amy asked.
"I think so..." Cosmo said and sat up.
The sun was blotted out for the briefest moment. Knowing what was happening, Cosmo's lips quivered in absolute fright. An object flew over them, and an explosion could be seen in the distance.
"A Metarex..." she said and a Metarex Spike picked itself up, having survived the rough landing.
"-=- following directive number one -=-
"-=- destroy the enemy spacecraft -=-" Metarex Spike said and attempted to blast Tails' workshop with its hands, but missed. "-=- adjust firing error -=-
-=- 296 tangent 8 -=-"
Spike tilted its hands slightly to the right, and was about to fire again, but Sonic buzzed right past it and bounced off of its head, distracting it. Knuckles leapt into the fray and tackled Spike into the ground. Even though Spike was embedded in the ground, it wasn't defenseless. A golden sword materialized in its exposed hand, and Spike used it to slice a nearby tree.
"I don't think we're gonna stop that thing this way!" Knuckles said.
"You're right, but we gotta try!" Sonic said.
Metarex Spike stood up and pointed its sword at the two Mobians.
"-=- it is futile for you to oppose us -=-
-=- you are never going to leave this planet alive -=-"
Typhoon now out in the open and Tails was on the bridge watching the fight.
Then he rushed to his seat and typed on a keyboard, bringing up some diagrams.
"I still have a few adjustments to make, but we can work on those in the air, so I guess we're ready." he said and nodded.
At Green Hill Amy was talking to Tails via wrist communicator.
"You're ready? We're leaving now?" Amy said on comlink.
"Soon, but we have to activate the Master Emerald first, so we need Knuckles." Tails said over comlink. "Would you mind finding him for me?" he asked and rubbed the back of his head.
Amy closed the com.
"The time's almost here! Cream, go find Knuckles and tell him that Tails needs him on the ship. Cosmo, you come with me and help me get the supplies aboard." she said.
"What's going on?" Cosmo asked nervous.
"Tails is almost ready to power up his new ship, and he needs Knuckles to activate the Master Emerald." Amy said grim.
Cream and Cosmo were surprised.
Meanwhile Sonic dodged Metarex Spike's hand as it pounded the ground, then sliced a tree in half.
"Hey! Up here!" she said.
Spike stood up in front of her and charged its finger lasers, but Knuckles punched it into the ground again from behind. He leapt up to the tree where Sonic was.
"Huh? Hey, I think I finally stopped him." he said.
Suddenly metal objects protruded from the fifteen holes in its chest.
"I don't think so!" Sonic said.
The metal objects were spike missiles that were launched at them. So they leapt atop the missiles, directing them away from themselves. Sonic looked back in horror that the missiles were headed straight toward the Blue Typhoon.
At the Blue Typhoon Tails pressed a few buttons that warm up the engines.
"Radar system activated!" he said and looked to his right and screamed as the fifteen missiles were speeding toward the bridge.
At Green Hill Sonic immediately blazed through the missiles, saving Tails.
"It stinks to get blasted out of the sky before we left the ground!" she said.
One of the stray missiles exploded behind her. She looked up to see Metarex Spike approaching and fired its finger lasers and razed the forest near the Typhoon., Knuckles was there to ran circles around Spike, causing it to fall into a sinkhole.
"Happy landing, pal!" he said.
"Knuckles!" someone said so he looked up to see Cream flying at a distance. "Tails needs you on the ship! He plans to beat the Metarex!"
"I just did!"
Suddenly Spike started to stand up. It took a swipe at Knuckles, who dodged. Sonic stomped it back into the hole, but it stood up again.
"Go on, Knuckles. I got this guy!" she said.
At Tails' workshop Amy and Cosmo put down the food just outside the cargo bay of the Typhoon.
"You know, Cosmo, you might want to carry more than one at a time." Amy said.
"Right." Cosmo said and tried to load the pack on her back into the Typhoon, but its weight caused her to fall.
"Why don't you just take it easy." Amy said and waved in amusement.
On the Blue Typhoon Tails looked at the holo-monitor, then pressed two buttons.
"The main engine's ready." Tails said and pressed another button. "Connecting to the Master Emerald! You copy?"
On the control room one of the readings on the dash in front of Cream rose.
"Main engine now connected to the Master Emerald." she said and the engines started to warm up.
In the Engine room Knuckles stood before the Master Emerald as it glowed brightly.
"The seven Chaos Emeralds are the servers. Our hearts intensify their power. The controller serves to unify the chaos!" he said and extended his hands brighter. "We need you and the seven Chaos Emeralds great power to find the Planet Eggs!"
"Ignition!" Cream said and the engine roared to life, and the turbines spin. "Okay, the engine's fired up!" she then hurried home.
A few minutes later she was at her house and Vanilla was knitting when she opened the door.
"Mother?" she said and Vanilla looked up. "Mother, would it be all right if I go out into space with everybody?"
"You mean on that nice spaceship that Tails built? Sure, sweetie. Just don't touch any buttons." Vanilla said.
"Thanks, Mother!" Cream said and they hugged.
"Cream..."
"Goodbye, Mother... Goodbye." Cream thought.
At Green Hill Sonic landed several hits on Metarex Spike, but the giant Metarex warrior landed unscathed in front of her.
"Hurry it up, guys..." someone said and Sonic turned to see it was Tails' voice coming from behind him in the Typhoon.
"Huh?" he said.
The ground rumbled as the Typhoon prepared to launch.
On the Blue Typhoon Bridge.
"The acceleration thruster's almost charged!" Tails said and several meters increase. "Takeoff time."
At Green Hill the ground collapsed as the Blue Typhoon started to rise.
"-=- you are doomed -=-" Metarex Spike said and fired fifteen more missiles from its chest.
"Great." Sonic said and spun after the missiles, destroyed them all, and landed on the hull of the craft. "It's been fun, but we have to be runnin' along now!"
In the Engine room.
"Master Emerald, we need you! Release the power of Chaos to us!" Knuckles said.
In the Control room.
"We're almost there. 80... 90... 95... The chamber's energy supply is at full capacity." Cream said now back on the Blue Typhoon.
Outside Sonic watched as Metarex Spike fly toward them.
"Sonic, we're gonna use the main cannon! Stand by!" Tails said over the loudspeaker.
Then the ship's runway folded back, and a giant cannon emerged.
The ship's energy was diverted to the cannon, Sonic Driver.
"Transferring power from the energy chamber to the main cannon! Cannon pressurization sequence now in progress." Tails said over intercom and Sonic ran inside the cannon. "Sequence complete. Sonic, do your thing!" he said and she stopped running and landed on the platform where she had to spin.
"Here goes!" she said and started spinning, thus charging the cannon.
In the Cargo hold Cosmo was worn from her work. Amy added the last of the food to the massive pile and sat down herself.
"Last one." she said.
"Attention, everyone! Brace yourselves!" Tails said over intercom.
On the bridge Spike landed in front of the Typhoon within range.
"Target Metarex dead ahead!" Tails said.
The targeting computer locked on to Metarex Spike just as it launched fifteen more missiles.
"Sonic Power Cannon, fire!" Knuckles and Tails said.
The Sonic Driver charged a massive amount of energy, then launched Sonic as a ball toward Spike. She decimated the missiles, then spun through Spike, leaving a burning hole in its chest. Metarex Spike exploded, finally defeated and she continued to helplessly spin as the Blue Typhoon took off.
"Hang on, Sonic." Amy said and flew toward Sonic in a support craft as the hedgehog continued to fall and Sonic slowly opened her eyes.
"Hi, Amy!" Sonic said and Amy opened her canopy and prepared to catch her.
"I got yaaaa!" Amy said and managed to take her hand, and fly back to the Typhoon. "Mission accomplished!"
On the Bridge.
"An excellent catch, guys! Now get ready!" Tails said.
The Sonic Driver was stored back inside the ship, and the ship's power was transferred back to main engine. Additionally, two extra wings were projected.
"Retracting main cannon! Rerouting energy to the main engine! Forward wings deployed! All right, Blue Typhoon... here we go."
Outside the Blue Typhoon activated its main engine, and it took off, headed for space. Amy's spaceship flew alongside it.
On the Cargo hold.
"Let's go up to the bridge!" Cream said and stood up.
Then she ran out of the room, followed by Cheese, and Cosmo.
A few minutes later Amy appeared on the bridge, and Sonic weakly smiled at her. Cream and Cosmo were next. The former looked down.
"Hey." Amy said.
"What a beautiful view! I've always wanted to know what our planet looks like from this high up." Cream said.
Sonic looked up at Amy and scratched the back of her head, until she realized there was something in her quills. She took it out and held it up.
"I wonder what this is?" she said. "Unless..." she said quietly with an idea what it is.
On Eggman's base it was sunset, and Decoe looked up from a console.
"You wonder what what is?" Tails asked over the radio.
"This thing on my head." Sonic said over the radio.
"I'm afraid I have bad news, Doctor. Sonic seems to have discovered your electronic bug." Decoe said and Eggman laughed.
"I planted it on her before she woke up. Clever, aren't I? Now, fire up the engines and follow that spaceship." he said. "But judging by the look on her face she already has an idea what it is."
"Roger!" Bocoe said and pulled a lever. "Engine... fired up!" he said and engine ignited.
"Don't let them get away! Full speed ahead!" Bokkun said.
Outside.
"Hey! I give the orders around here!" Eggman said inside.
"Sorry, Doctor." Bokkun said.
Rouge flew after the Crimson Egg, which was flying after the Blue Typhoon, which in turn was flying out into open space.
