Chapter 4

*Thanks to AristaNyx for being Beta this morning before work!*

Harry opened his eyes, drowsily, and looked around. He was in a small room, a bed, chest of drawers and a small bathroom. He climbed out of the bed and walked to the bathroom. He went to the sink and turned the water on and washed his face. He looked up and seen himself, although it wasn't him. It was his younger self. He quickly ran to get his glasses and ran back. He touched his face and laughed.

He was brought from his realization that it worked by a knocking, well, more like a banging, on the door.

"'Arry! You awake? C'mon now, we got things to buy for yer new school year."

Harry laughed as he quickly threw on his shoes, seeing as how he woke up in his clothes. He ran to the door and looked up to see Hagrid standing there, looking down at him.

"Morning, Hagrid. Let's get going."

Draco woke to the sound of knocking on his door.

"Draco, dear. It's time to get up. We have your school shopping to do." Narcissa threw open the heavy curtains in the room to wake him up.

Draco looked around. He was back in his room. He jumped out of bed and ran to hos bathroom. He looked in the mirror to see himself, but younger.

"It worked. It actually bloody worked." He said to himself.

"Draco? Are you alright?" His mother asked from the doorway.

"Yes, Mother. Just fine. I'll go get ready."

Narcissa nodded and left the room, shutting the door behind her. Draco quickly changed and went downstairs. He knew this time, things would absolutely be different.

Harry walked beside Hagrid towards Gringott's bank. He marveled at how everything looked now, compared to what it looked like in his past, or old life, he wasn't quite sure how to put it. They walked into the bank, gave the old, grumpy goblin his key and set off towards his parent's vault.

"Here we are. Careful now, 'Arry." Hagrid helped him out of the cart. The goblin opened the vault to reveal the contents. Harry stepped inside and placed what he knew would be more than enough to get what he needed. As he was leaving, he noticed a trunk sitting in the corner. As he was walking towards it, Hagrid called to him.

"I want to take this with me. How can I get it out?" He asked the goblin.

"I can have it sent to where ever you would like, young sir."

"Send it to the Leaky Cauldron, room eleven please."

"Of course, sir."

Harry nodded and left with Hagrid. He was determined to see what was in it.

Draco walked into Diagon Alley with his parents and looked around. It was just as magical as he had remembered it.

"I have business to attend to at the bank. I will meet you both in a few hours." Lucius said before walking away, his cloak swishing behind him.

Draco and Narcissa started off at Madam Malkin's for robes. When they walked in, that's when Draco knew this was where the change needed to start.

"Hogwarts I presume?"

"Yes, maam."

"Right this way. Just stand there on that pedestal and we will get you sized."

Draco stood there, waiting. He knew any minute Harry would be walking through the doors. He tried to figure out what to say to him. He didn't know if Harry would remember, like he did.

"Alright, Mister Malfoy. Let's get those measurements."

Draco held his arms up as his measurements were taken. He stared in the mirrors at the door, waiting. Not long after, in walked Harry.

Harry stopped out front of Madame Malkin's. This is where he remembers meeting Draco for the first time. He took a deep breath and walked in.

"Be with you in a moment. Just have a seat please."

Harry nodded and sat in the chair behind Draco. The two looked at each other in the mirror and noddes. It was then the two of them knew they both remembered.

Once the two were done getting measured, they waited by the door to receive their robes.

"You remember?" Draco was the first to ask.

Harry nodded. "Yeah. You?"

Draco nodded. "Lovegood must have known this was where things should have started out."

"She's clever that way. I also think this is where we are supposed to befriend Hermione."

Draco sighed. "I don't even know how to approach that. You know as well as I do that my father would never agree to that friendship."

"He will if we find a way to show him Hermione isn't just some Muggleborn. She is important, not just to this that we are doing, but also important to me. She's my best friend."

Draco sat for a moment, thinking. "I know what to do. Have you ever heard of an inheritance test?" Harry shook his head. "Well, we find Hermione and go to Gringotts. They can do it there."

"Brilliant. If I know Hermione, she is at the bookstore. All we have to do is find her, and make small conversation with her before we go. We can't just come out and say anything."

"Let's just go to the bookstore and see what happens." Draco stood up motioned Harry to follow him.

"Mother, I'm going to the bookstore with my new friend, Harry. Do you mind?"

Narcissa turned around to look at her son. "Of course not, my dragon." Realization suddenly hit Narcissa. "Well, Harry Potter? My dear, how lovely to meet you." Narcissa gave him a sweet smile. "You boys behave. I'll meet you in the courtyard behind Gringotts in an hour."

The boys nodded and left the store. They arrived at the bookstore and walked in. Harry looked around, and wasn't long before he spotted her.

He nudged Draco and pointed. Draco looked to see the bushy haired brunette browsing the shelves, an arm full of tomes already. He had a plan.

He motioned for Harry to follow. Once on the level Hermione was on, Draco looked at the section she was browsing.

"May I make a suggestion?" He spoke up, startling her. "I apologize. I didn't mean to startle you. I'm Draco Malfoy. This is my friend, Harry Potter." Draco pointed over his shoulder.

Hermione's eyes widened at the mention of Harry's name. "Um, hi. I'm Hermione Granger." She held her tiny hand out from under the stack of tomes. Draco and Harry shook it.

"So, I assume you're Muggleborn from the stack in your arms?" Draco asked. She nodded. "Well, I suggest this." He reached on the shelf above her and pulled down the book.

"Magical and Creature Inheritance and How to Unlock Them." Hermione read aloud. "What exactly is a Magical Inheritance?"

"You see, witches and wizards, Pureblood and Muggleborn, can go to Gringotts to take this test, for a fee, and find out just where their magic comes from. Harry and I were on our way there after leaving here. Care to join us? See if you have any witch or wizard ancestors?" Draco asked, giving Harry a wink.

Hermione immediately shook her head. "Yes, please. Just let me tell my parents." She ran off in the direction of the register where her parents were waiting.

"That was bloody brilliant." Harry said as they walked out the store to wait on the young witch.

"You just have to know how to be suave about things, Potter." Draco smirked.

"Alright. I'm ready." Hermione joined them in the alley.

"Alright, mates. Let's go see shall we?" Draco led the way to Gringotts, Harry and Hermione hot on his heels.
