Chapter 5

*As always, thanks to my beta AristaNyx for looking it over!*

Draco, Harry and Hermione walked into Gringotts and down the long walkway to the head goblin's desk. He looked up at them over the rim of his glasses.

"What can I do for you?" He asked in a menacing voice.

"We would like to have an inheritance test done." Draco responded.

The goblin looked accusingly at the three and nodded after a few moments. "Very well. It will be 10 Galleons each."

"Oh." Hermione said, quietly, her head falling.

"What is it?" Harry quietly asked.

"I don't have that kind of wizard money. I have just enough to spend on school things."

"Don't worry. I've got it." Draco winked at her.

"No, I couldn't let you do that."

"You want to find out if you have any wizarding ancestors, don't you?" Hermione nodded. "Alright then. I've got it."

Draco and Harry handed the goblin the money and he motioned for them to follow him. They were led to a small room behind the main desk.

"Each of you, line up there. Place your hand on the pillar before you. There will be a tiny prick hitting your palm. It is to draw blood to see any magical inheritances. Once the test is complete, your results will appear here, on this table." The goblin pointed as he spoke. "Who will go first?"

They looked at each other. "I will." Harry spoke up. He done as instructed. He winced when he felt the prick, but it quickly faded.

The table in front began to glow, followed by the sound of what appeared to be papers shuffling. The three walked to the table to look.

"Harry James Potter. Son of James and Lily Potter. Ancestors include; Potter, House of Black and Noble Family of Perevell. Family home, Godric Hollow, Perevell Manor. Blood status, Half-Blood." Harry read aloud. "Wait, what is this? Creature Inheritance, Dragon?"

"Ah, yes. Some children posses creature inheritance as well. It is simply explained that someone in your family ancestrial bloodline possessed some form of a creature that done well for the family." The goblin explained to them. "Now, who will be next?"

Draco looked at Hermione, who shook her head. "I will." He stepped up to the pillar and placed his hand on it. He winced as his palm was stuck. After a few moments, the same happened for him on the table before them.

"Draco Abraxis Malfoy. Son of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy. Ancestors include; Malfoy and House of Black. Family home, Malfoy Manor. Blood status, Pureblood. Creature inheritance, Veela." Draco looked at the goblin confused. "I thought only female were Veela?"

The goblin nodded. "It is very rare to have a male Veela. Usually only one in a few generations."

Draco shrugged his shoulders. "Alright, Hermione. Your turn."

Hermione let out a breath. "Alright." She stepped to the pillar, placed her hand upon it, and like the boys before her, winced when it was struck. After a moment, the table lit up once again and she began to read.

"Hermione Jean Granger. Daughter of Henry and Jean Granger. Ancestors; Hector Dagworth-Granger. Family home: Granger Village. Blood status, Half-Blood. Creature inheritance, Elven." Hermione gasped.

"I'm not a Muggle born? I have wizard ancestors?" Her eyes lit up and a wide smile spread across her face. "I need to go back to the bookstore!"

"Well, who would have known. She isn't a muggle born after all." Draco said quietly to Harry. He nodded.

The goblin waved his hand at the table. Three rolls of parchment flew to each one of them.

"A parchment of your inheritance test. I suggest you look into each creature inheritance before your 14th birthday." The goblin led them back out into the main lobby of the bank.

"I guess I will see the both of you next week. I must speak to my father about this." Hermione said as she held up the scroll.

Harry and Draco waved bye to the witch once they walked out of Gringotts. They walked down the alley to the back to meet back up with Narcissa. She was sitting on a bench when they arrived.

"Hello, my dragon. Hello, Harry." She greeted the boys.

"Hello, Mrs. Malfoy." Harry turned to Draco. "I'll see you next week." He held out his hand.

"Next week, then." Draco took his outstretched hand.

The two boys parted ways. Harry went back to The Leaky Cauldron and up to his room. Sitting in a cage on the dresser was a beautiful snowy white owl.

"Hello, Hedwig." He said with tears in his eyes. He walked over to her and opened the cage. She flew out onto him and he stoked her, lovingly.

He noticed the trunk from his vault sitting beside the bed. He decided now was as good time as any to go through it. He sat on the bed and looked at it. The trunk was wooden with intricate designs across the top. In the middle had his name, behind his name was a insignia, he assumed was from his dad's side of the family.

As soon as he touched the trunk, it unlocked. He opened the lid to see nothing but two letters. He picked up the first one.

My Dearest Harry,

If you're reading this, then that means I am no longer with you. For that, I am truly sorry, my love. Know that I fought with all my heart to keep you safe. If you're reading this, it also means you are about to start Hogwarts. My dear boy, you will love it. It is a home away. In this trunk I have left an album of photos of my years at Hogwarts and photos of us as a family. How I wish I could watch you grow up. Since the day of your birth, I have always wondered who you would grow up to be.

I hope you come to be an amazing young wizard. Make plenty of friends. You will need them as you get older. I must tell you, if you come across a man named Severus Snape, please give him the letter I have in the trunk. One day, you will know his significance to me, and I do hope you two can become close. You both mean the world to me. Your father is my everything, of course, but Severus was my first, real friend.

My dear, I must end this letter. Always know how much I love you. I am always with you.

I Love You. Always.

Mum

Harry wiped the tears from his eyes as he laid his mother's letter to the side. He picked up the next with his name on it.

Harry, my boy.

I'm sorry I cannot be with you as you start school. Once you get older, you will understand why your mother and I are no longer with you. I have left you with some of my most prized possesions.

You will think the trunk is empty, but reach inside and you will feel a cloak. It has been passed down for generations in my Father's family. It is the cloak of Invisibility. You will know when you need it. Keep it close. I also have in the trunk something me and three of my friends made. It will also help you along the way.

Son, how I wish I could be with you as you get older. Your Mother and I are so sorry things have turned out the way they have if you're reading this.

Just know, your Godfather, Sirius Black, is an amazing friend. Do not be turned around by rumors you may hear about him. He has been the most loyal to me. I hope one day, you can meet him.

I love you, Son. I'll always be with you.

Dad

Harry cried even harder. He reached down into the trunk and felt the material of the cloak. He pulled it out and held it up. A smile spread across his face. He laid it to the side and looked into the trunk. There, he found the album his mother left with the letter addressed to Snape. He also found a key with a tag that simply had Godrics Hollow written on it.

Harry spent the next hour looking at the photos of his parents and their friends. He already knowing who they were. He also found his parent's old school robes.

Harry decided to pack his school belongings in the trunk and take it with him to Hogwarts. He called to have his food sent to the room that night. He sat and read over things that were left in the trunk. He drifted off to sleep happy that night.
