Chapter 6

Harry finished packing the last of his belongings before leaving for Platform 9 ¾. He had just shut his trunk when there was a knock on his door.

"Come in!" Harry turned to see Hermione and Draco standing in the doorway.

"Hey, guys. Just finishing up."

"Come on, mate. We'll be late if you don't put a little fire under your arse. Ouch. What was that for?" Draco rubbed his arm.

"Language. Do you need some help?" Hermione asked.

"Just got to grab Hedwig and I'm ready."

Hermione nodded. She took the owl while Draco helped Harry load the trunk onto a trolley. Once done, the three left the Three Broomsticks and out onto the streets of London. It was a short walk to King's Cross Station. There, Hagrid stood just inside.

"'Ello, 'Arry. I got ye ticket here. Don't forget that. I'll be meeting ye at Hogwarts. You three have a good trip. I'll leave Malfoy to show you how to get to the train." Hagrid handed Harry his ticket and disappeared.

The three headed to the entry. There stood Hermione's parent, as well as Narcissa.

"Hello, children. Hermione, dear, nice to see you again. I was just talking business with your parents. They are lovely, even for Muggles."

"Mother!" Draco hissed.

"Oh, don't worry young Draco. Your Mother means no harm. She has told us all about your family. It's a pleasure to have you as a friend to our daughter." Hermione's father said to the young boy.

"Well, let's get going. Don't want these three to be left behind. Just follow me." Narcissa turned and led the way to the platform. Her and Draco went first. Hermione and her parents followed, Harry bringing up the rear. He stepped onto the Platform and still marveled at the sight.

"Come along, children. Draco, Dobby has already brought your things. Be a good boy this year. If you need anything, find Severus or write home." Narcissa bent down and pulled Draco into a hug. "I love you, my little Dragon."

"Love you, too, Mother."

"Write to us as much as you can."

"Stay up on studies."

Hermione smile at her parents. "I will. I'll let you know everything. I love you." She said as she hugged them.

Harry smiled, watching them with their parents, a small tinge of hurt knowing he couldn't with his.

"Harry, you look after yourself. Same goes for you. Write if you need anything." Narcissa said to him, also pulling him into a hug.

Harry closed his eyes as he wrapped his arms around her. He whispered a thank you.

"I found us a cabin. Let's get going before someone takes it." Draco said. The three climbed aboard and to their cabin, waving out the windows at their parents. The train began a slow start out and was shortly reaching its speed to cruise along to Hogwarts.

In true Hermione fashion, she pulled a book from her bag and began reading. Draco and Harry gave each other a smirk. The two of them found their own to do until the Trolley came. They each bought sweets and began talking about Hermione's new found heritage.

"So, dad finally told me the truth. His great-great grandfather was a wizard. The bloodline had just about died out until me. They married Muggles until they were sure the magic died out."

"Merlin. Why on earth would they do that?" Draco asked.

"Don't know really. I suppose it's because as they come to be with their Muggle spouse they wanted a normal life. Haven't gotten to that fact yet, but I will. I'm sure it is written down somewhere in our family." Hermione replied.

Harry watched out the window as the scenery flew by. After awhile, the trio heard a commotion out side their cabin. A pudgy boy stopped and looked inside then opened the door.

"Have you all seen a toad? Trevor got loose." He said, breathlessly.

They shook their heads at him. "No, sorry. I'll help you look." Hermione said.

They searched their compartment top to bottom, finally finding him hiding in the small cupboard closet.

"Thank you. I'm Neville Longbottom, by the way."

"I'm Hermione Granger. This is Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter."

"Nice to meet you. I've heard a lot about you, Harry. Grandmum told me. Our parent were friends." Neville said as he sat beside Hermione.

"Hello, Neville. You have a compartment of your own?"

He shook his head. "No. I lost Trevor as soon as I got on. Been looking for him ever since."

Harry and Draco looked at each other, remembering what Luna said. "You can share with us. Welcome." Draco said, holding his hand out.

Neville took his hand. The four of them began easy conversations while they headed towards Hogwarts. Before they arrived, Hermione left to change while the boys stayed in the compartment.

"We're here!" Hermione barged in, yelling with excitement.

"Oi! Knock first, Granger! Luckily I had my pants up just before you barged in. " Draco said.

"Oh, shut it! Come on!" Hermione just about dragged each boy by the arm and ran them outside. Thankfully, they were all able to grab their bags before she took off.

Once outside, they met with Hagrid, who was rounding all the First Years towards him. The four were the first to line up and took the first boat. Even though Harry and Draco both had already lived this, their heart couldn't help but beat faster. Mainly at the chance to start over and do things right.

Once to land, they walked up the stairs to the Great Hall doors. Professor McGonagall stood waiting. She made her introductions before leading them inside. Harry and Draco felt instantly at home.

"When I call your name, step forward. I'll place the Sorting Hat on your head, then you will then head to the table of your House." She called several students before Harry or Draco heard their name.

"Draco Malfoy."

Draco walked up, sat down and waited. 'Please put me where I'd be of great importance.' He thought.

"Hmm...back again I see. Oh yes, you cannot hide things from me. I believe where you would be best fit will be" "SLYTHERIN!"

Draco eyes went wide. He looked at Harry who nodded. He walked to the Slytherin table and sat at the end.

"Harry Potter." The room went quiet.

As Draco done before, Harry sat and thought to the hat, 'Please put me where I truly am meant to be.'

"Back again I see. Oh, yes, as I told your friend, you cannot hide things from me. I'll put you where you should have been before." "SLYTHERIN!"

Harry gave a slight smile and sat across from Draco.

"Neville Longbottom."

Neville walked nervously to the stool and sat. "GRYFFINDOR!" The Sorting Hat yelled.

"Hermione Granger."

Hermione walked confidently to the stool.

"Ah, I see a thirst for proving yourself. You are Cunning and Ambitious. You want to show everyone you are capable of anything. I know just where to put you." "SLYTHERIN!"

Draco and Harry beamed at Hermione. She jumped off the stool and went to sit beside her friends. She was excited to be joining them.

Harry and Draco smiled to each other. Knowing this was perfect for them to all be together to do what they needed done for their new future.
