Chapter 7

Harry woke the next morning feeling exhilarated. He stretched as he sat up and reached for his glasses. He looked over to see Draco just woke as well.

"We better get going. Hermione will be knocking on our door in about thirty minutes." Harry smirked.

"I call the shower first!" Draco jumped from bed and ran into the bathroom. Harry groaned as he stood. He walked to his trunk and dug through it. He pulled out the letter his mom wrote to Snape and put it in his bag for class. After that, he pulled out the journal he found that both his parents wrote to him.

"Finally!" Harry said, looking up to see Draco leaving the bathroom. He quickly showered and dressed in his robes. Looking at himself dressed in the Slytherin green, he smirked.

"I have to say, Potter. Slytherin looks good on you." Draco said as he straightened his tie.

Harry shrugged. He grabbed his bag and was headed out the door when he ran into Hermione, hand raised to knock. He gave Draco a look saying 'told you so'.

"You boys ready? We don't want to be late to breakfast, then being late to first class." Hermione said, folding her arms across her chest, foot tapping the floor.

"Yeah. Let's go." Harry said.

The three of them headed to the Great Hall. On their way, they spotted Neville and waved. He gave a wave back and continued to fill his plate.

The three sat at the end of the table, loading their plates with food. After a few minutes they looked up to see a dark haired man walking towards them.

"Hello, Severus. Harry, Hermione, this is my Godfather, Severus Snape. He's also the head of Slytherin house and Potions professor." Draco introduced them.

"Nice to meet you, sir." Hermione said politely.

"Hello, children. Here is this year's timetables. Study them well. Do not be late to any class. I have no interest in taking points from my own House for tardiness." He handed each student their paper and began to walk away.

Harry quickly jumped up and called to him. "Excuse me, Professor Snape?"

"What is it?" He eyed the raven haired boy, knowing exactly who he was.

"I found a letter in my parents trunk. It's addressed to you. I think it's from my Mother. She asked me in her letter to me for me to deliver it to you if something ever happened to her." Harry reached into his bag and pull the letter out, handing it to Snape.

Snape eyed it, then took it. He then turned and walked away. Harry joined his friends and finished breakfast before heading to their first lesson.

Snape walked into his class and sat behind his desk. He ran his fingers over Lily's handwriting. He opened the envelope and began to read the letter inside.

My Dearest Severus,

If you are reading this, then that means I'm no longer with you. If Harry should give you this on his first day, please, look after my son. I know during school the two of us lost touch, but know you never left my heart. I love James, but I will always love you. For the friendship and kindness you showed me in the earlier years of our life. I never got to tell you this, but I am pregnant with another child. Well, was if you're reading this. And I decided that you would be this ones Godfather. I am unsure of the gender, but whatever the gender, I know you would have been an amazing Godfather, Severus. I am truly sorry we never got to make true amends. Please, do me one last thing and watch over Harry. Make sure he stays out of trouble and away from harm while at Hogwarts.

All My Love,
Lily

Severus laid the letter down and wiped the tears from his face. He always loved Lily. And he knew it was his fault they stopped being close friends. As much as he detested James, Harry was still half of Lily, and he would make sure to take the boy under his wing and do what she asked.

He hid the letter in his desk and readied himself for his first class. As the First Year Slytherin and Gryffindor students come in, he stood at the front of the class, watching. He noticed how Harry and Draco stuck together, the witch, Hermione, not far from them. He tapped the board with his wand and the days lesson appeared.

Harry, Draco and Hermione watched as Snape walked around the room, talking of many different potions they would be making that year. Hermione furiously writing down notes from the board and anything the Professor said. At the end of the class, Snape nodded to the three, giving Harry a small smile, not a noticeable one, of course, but one Harry could tell was a smile.

Draco and Harry gave each other a look as they walked out. "This year is already going better than before. I hope this changes a lot of things, Snape being on my side from the beginning."

Draco clapped Harry on the back. "Don't worry, mate. Things will be different."

A/N: Hello my lovelies! So, to answer one reviewer, I will most definitely try and have a new chapter posted every week. I don't want to let anyone down!
