Headcanon 13
A/N: This is just a headcanon of what I think Buzz's parents were like and why they weren't around as much, and what happened to them since they weren't shown or mentioned alot in the show.
Although that Buzz's parents loved him very much, their jobs as galactic agents was just…. It was just taking up half of their time, which left them little time to spend time with and be there for their son like they wanted to, so that's why they let Buzz mostly stayed with his grandmother, Nana Lightyear, who was more than happy to watch over her grandson but sometimes, it felt that she was mostly his parent than his grandmother but she understands it's not her daughter's and son-in-laws fault they have such a busy job. However, even with the limited time with their son, they still try their best to be there for their son and spend as much time with him as possible.
However, when Buzz was 5 years old, him and his Nana got the devastating news that both his parents past away from a dangerous mission that they were on. Buzz didn't understand death at the time at that young age until his Nana explained it to him when he got the news about his parents, when he realized that he was never going to see his parents again, he was completely heartbroken.
After his parents' death, his Nana gained custody of him and took over raising him completely as his legal guardian. Buzz had to go to therapy to help deal with his parents' death for a while because his Nana figured that he would need it to help him get through his tough time.
Nana raised him the best of her ability and put in enough effort to be there for him, she managed to do a good job because he grew up to be an outstanding young man with a really bright future, a future that was so bright that you'd think it was a star.
