Chapter 19: Midnight's Intruder.
The Beacon dance was in full swing. Teachers were chatting, students were dancing. Pretty much nothing was going wrong. Even Glynda was having a good time, dancing with Ozpin as he showed ever so gracefulness and professionalism.
As the slow songs continued, Weiss was having the time of her life, giggling and laughing of joy as Aoihi danced with her. Dipping her and spinning her with his right index finger. Eventually, they stopped for a moment as Aoihi brought Weiss into a princess carry.
"Whoa! Ah! A-A-Aoihi!" She exclaimed with a blush. "W-what a-are y-you d-doing."
"Giving you a short break so we can continue on dancing as much as we want, Weiss." Aoihi replied with a smile as Weiss blushed even more. But more melting at how sweet and considerate he was of her and her health.
"O-okay." She then conceded. "I am wearing pumps so it would be smart for my feet to rest before I dance again."
He simply nodded and smiled as he brought her over to a chair and gently seated her onto it.
"How about I get us some refreshments?" He offered, as Weiss smiled at how courteous he was.
"Hmm… I suppose some chocolate-covered strawberries and punch wouldn't sound too bad." Her voice then got flirtatious. "Maybe we can feed each other with the strawberries?"
Aoihi gave a chuckle and gently nuzzled Weiss on the nose.
"Of course, my dear." He stated in a charming fashion. "Wouldn't hurt to enjoy some fun in feeding each other."
Weiss gave a giggle as she watched Aoihi walk off to the refreshment table, where Ruby was there trying to NOT be socially awkward. They apparently heard the ENTIRE interaction between Aoihi and Weiss.
"Dang!" Ruby soon remarked as she saw Aoihi walk over. "Talk about a smooth talker, Aoihi. You really are melting Weiss's icy heart tonight."
Aoihi simply gave a chuckle as he grabbed some refreshments for him and Weiss.
"Well, my intention is to give her a very wonderful night, and truly show my love for her without saying any words."
Ruby smiled and chuckled at this.
"Well, I think you're doing a good job." She replied. "Weiss really does like you, but I think she made it obvious enough."
Aoihi simply shrugged as he began to get a plate of refreshments for him and Weiss to share.
Back at the seat, Weiss was smiling and looking at Aoihi affectionately as she sat and allowed her feet to rest. However, as she did, Neptune soon walked over to her.
"Oh! Did Aoihi dump you?" He asked in a voice of clear stupidity. Weiss was quick to shake her head.
"Actually, Neptune, Aoihi's just getting refreshments for me and him." She then smiled as she saw Aoihi return. "He's actually QUITE the gentleman. Not to mention a very excellent dancer."
Aoihi simply said nothing as he sat down next to Weiss and gently fed her a strawberry and in a way to JUST piss Neptune off more. The gesture was rewarded with a smile from Weiss as she hummed in happiness at the taste of the chocolate-covered strawberry.
"Mmm. These are good." She remarked. Aoihi could only smile back at her as Neptune scowled in rage and jealousy.
"Why did you choose HIM as your date, Weiss?! I would be a far better choice than him! For I'm cooler! Hotter! And far more charming!"
"More like more stupid." Aoihi stated bluntly as Weiss stifled a laugh from it.
"Aoihi's actually got a point, Neptune." Weiss remarked. "You are clearly a player who only wants to hook up with girls for superficial reasons. Not to mention you are too ignorant to know that no means no. In a simple explanation, you don't know when to back off and how to accept being rejected."
Neptune just scoffed at this.
"Oh yeah? And what does that prove? Huh? That you can't accept ANYONE who is a real man and NOT autistic?!"
That did it. With an angry scream Weiss punched Neptune hard in the face and stared down at him with a furious expression.
"Don't you DARE think that Aoihi's capabilities, intelligence, and independence are hindered by his autism, Neptune! Believe it or not, Aoihi is actually a VERY incredible huntsman in training, and NONE of his accomplishments were completed with sheer luck! He WORKED for his skill! He worked for it, and perhaps 50 times harder than ANY of us will ever know! He's managed to use his Autism for his advantage in the battlefield! And that shows how incredible he is! Not to mention all the blood, sweat and tears he put into his fighting style and studies! Don't you DARE diss him for being different! Or I WILL make you pay!"
Sun, who was nearby, heard the commotion and shook his head at Neptune.
"Just give it up, Neptune. Weiss doesn't want to be with you. Quit being a fool and let it go."
Reluctantly, Neptune listened to Sun as they walked away from Weiss and Aoihi.
As she then turned around, Weiss saw Aoihi looking at her in surprise.
"I…. Was not expecting you to be so passionate in defending me." He said with a tone that clearly stated his shock.
Weiss huffed. "Well! As your date and lover, it's MY prerogative to stand up for you, Aoihi. After all, you deserve to be seen for the amazing person you are and not just some hated reject. You're FAR more than just your autism. I mean it.
A smile came across Aoihi's lips as he wrapped Weiss between his arms and nuzzled her.
"Thank you." He whispered. "It means so much."
Weiss only gave a loving smile as she nuzzled back.
"Can we dance again?" She then asked with a soft voice which only made Aoihi smile more.
"Of course." He replied as he then lead her out to the floor again.
As the slow dance began, Aoihi and Weiss once again did the usual routine of steps, dips, and spins. However, things were different this time. The affection, the romance, there was a blissful tension and feeling to it. Something was drawing them closer and closer, and they couldn't mistake it.
Without a word, Aoihi gave a small blush and glanced at Weiss with his eyes. Her eyes met his, and as if it was telepathic, she got the message from him.
"Go ahead." She uttered softly, as Aoihi simply nodded in response.
Weiss's left hand was on Aoihi's lower back, while Aoihi's right was in her's. Aoihi's left hand, connected with Weiss's right as they slowly edged closer together as they danced. The world practically fading away from their view as they only focused on each other.
Gradually, as the song reached its end, Weiss stood on the toes of her pumps as she and Aoihi pulled each other in. Their heartbeats synchronizing as they were right up against each other.
This was where IT happened….
Their first kiss.
The taste in each other's mouths was indescribable as they held this moment for a good minute. Breaking from the kiss, Aoihi and Weiss smiled and blushed at one another as they settled into each other's arms more and practically snuggled. A hum of happiness sounded from Weiss as she gazed at Aoihi lovingly.
"I can't say what is already said enough, Aoihi. I truly can't. But regardless, I love you."
"I know, and I love you too." Aoihi replied just as lovingly. "After this, let's plan our first date as a couple, Weiss."
Weiss smiled at this.
"Sounds good to me."
Unbeknownst to the two, Ruby, Blake, and Yang were on the second tier and leaning against the handrails. They had saw EVERYTHING happening between Weiss and Aoihi and were practically screeching with joy.
"Ahh! They're officially together! They had their first kiss!"
"I know!" Yang chimed into her sister's remark.
"Good to know they finally got together." Blake added with a smile. "Weiss and Aoihi had pretty much been right for each other."
Both Ruby and Yang couldn't help but agree as they continued to look out onto the dance floor. Jaune and Pyrrha were dancing not too differently from Aoihi and Weiss, showing a romantic spark between them, as did Ren and Nora. However, seeing Jaune and Pyhrra kiss as well, really opened things up to them.
"You know." Yang then began. "I think we really needed this."
"You did a good job planning this, Yang." Ruby remarked as Yang smiled and brought her little sister into a bone crushing hug.
"Thanks, sis! But it wasn't just me! Weiss had much to be thanked for as well!"
"Makes this party all the more worth it for us." Blake soon commented with a smile. "I'm so glad for coming here tonight, for I actually needed this too. Aoihi and Weiss centrally did, considering that they are officially a couple and all."
The sisters nodded in agreement as they continued to watch Aoihi and Weiss dance. Eventually, though, Ruby was beginning to feel awkward again, as Blake and Yang were seconds away from hitting the dance floor again.
"You both enjoy yourselves. I'm going for a walk outsides."
Both Yang and Blake nodded as they watched Ruby walk down the stairs and head out the door. However, just as Ruby made it out into the crisp night air she saw a figure heading towards the Beacon Tower from the roof tops.
She began to give chase. Ruby ran as fast as she could in her black pumps. She eventually reached the Beacon Tower and found Atlas guards laying unconscious left and right. Promptly she took out her scroll and typed in a code to summon her locker. The locker landed and she quickly took out Crescent Rose.
"Time to kick some butt!" She said to herself as she dashed into the Beacon tower.
Taking the elevator, Ruby rode to the same room where the mysterious intruder had gone. Holding it in it's scythe form, Ruby exited the elevator on the right floor and glanced about as she only continued to look about, seeing more and more unconscious guards laying on the floor. She exhaled, and was about to leave, when her aura sensed something or someone nearby.
"CLASH!"
She was glad that she took a page out of Aoihi's book and trusted her aura's sensing ability. Ruby had JUST blocked an attack from the mysterious intruder and her twin short swords. The intruder leaped back and slid her hand on the ground, before releasing shards of glass aimed at Ruby.
"Hey!" The young huntress cried as she managed to dodge the attack before charging in with Crescent Rose again
They both clashed and parried for a few moments before the intruder took out a fire dust-infused arrow and fired it at Ruby as her swords were combined into a bow. Ruby dodged it but stumbled thanks to her high-heeled shoes. The figure would have probably killed her if it weren't for Ironwood coming in. The figure fled into the night, as Ironwood, saw her, and saw Ruby wincing in pain.
"Are you okay, Miss Rose?" The Atlas General asked politely as Ruby nodded.
"I will be!" The girl in the red dress replied. "My ankle is just sore. Nothing serious." She then winced again. "Can I PLEASE take these death traps off?"
General Ironwood couldn't help but chuckle at this. However, they had not noticed the static-fulled image of a black queen chess piece on the screen nearby. Oh, if only they had.
