The afternoon arrived quickly. Kendra had taken a good shower to make herself presentable. She had put on her uniform by zipping up her black jacket. She touched her hair and she cut it down to her neck starting a new life. His feelings were locked away in a box as if they never existed. She had heard of the soldier's death. She looked at herself in the mirror before leaving her room, carrying her backpack.
"Here we go," she encourages herself.
She hid a silver pendant containing a photo of her father and Michael that they had taken in the infirmary. The day it came out, the days before. It was a nurse who captured this moment.
Kendra thought it all seemed so long ago, when everything had changed in just a few days. The assistant put Teyla's necklace on before leaving her apartment. She joined Doctor Beckett when she saw Michael, lying on a stretcher.
Under the watchful eye of John and Ronon, Kendra placed a hand on Michael's forehead. She fell into a trance, while Teyla narrowed her eyes when she saw her necklace. Kendra dove into Michael's mind, analyzing each of his memories hidden deep within. He glimpsed his life as a wraith, the queen he served, and the innocents whose lives he had taken.
Kendra came back to herself. She didn't say a single word as she wiped away a tear that threatened to fall. The stargate opened and she walked through, closing her eyes. She arrived at the alpha site. She didn't take her eyes off Michael. She caught Ronon's gaze and he finally walked away.
Kendra assisted Doctor Beckett in preparing the retrovirus. She didn't say a single word. She felt a bad feeling run down her spine. She has a tight collar when getting up. Carson jumped.
"Is everything okay, Kendra ?" asked Carson.
"No," she whispers.
Carson frowned. He put down his syrige before running after Kendra. She saw two soldiers, Michael squeezed Teyle's throat, threatening to kill her. Their greetings crossed. Kendra felt her heart sink as she saw the hostility in Michael's eyes.
"Put down your weapons !" orders Michael.
Kendra jumped as the two soldiers put down their weapons. Teyla gasped as he grabbed a gun, threatening her. He ends up retreating, taking the young woman hostage.
Kendra joins the team pursuing Michael. She saw soldiers searching the forest. But, she left on her own, approaching the stargate. She approached discreetly while Michael dialed an address.
Teyla was scribbling the address of the door set up on a slate. The vortex has opened. Michael frowned as he turned around. Kendra cried out when she saw a ball near her feet. Michael shot him disappointed.
"Come out of your hiding place" he ordered.
Kendra obeyed, raising her hands. Michael was disturbed when he saw the panic in the young woman's eyes.
"What are you doing here ?" he asked.
"I'm coming to arrest you," Kendra responds.
The young woman arrived near Teyla. The Athosian was lifted up as Kendra stood in front of her to protect her.
"How did you find me ?" Michael questions.
"Our bond, I feel your presence and you feel mine. As well as our emotions" explains Kendra.
"This is nonsense," he refutes.
"You think ?" she questioned.
Her eyes shone, Lyra spoke.
"Don't underestimate our connection," advises the young woman.
"You seem to have recovered from this charade" he remarks.
"It wasn't an act, you're going to pay for what you did to me" warns Lyra.
Michael glared at him. Kendra's eyes lit up. He ran towards the two young women, taking them away by force. Ronon fired as they walked through the door. The vortex has closed.
Teyla and Kendra were pushed deeper into a forest. They were threatened while climbing a slope leading to a rocky cliff. Michael panted as he leaned towards a tree.
"We'll rest upstairs," he said.
Kendra frowned as she noticed a change in his voice. She turned around, feeling deep pain. She closed her eyes but the pain was getting stronger and stronger.
"I feel a disturbing presence" whispers Teyla.
Michael raised his head, showing eyes with dilated pupils, straight like those of cats.
"Michael…" Kendra whispered.
He looked before forcing them up the steep slope. Once, arriving at the top of the hill. He knocked out Teyla before the detacher. He pointed his gun at her. Kendra gasped as she backed away. He forced Kendra to sit down before knocking her out.
A few hours later, the two women woke up. Kendra grimaced as Teyla slowly got up. Kendra repeated her movement when she noticed Michael's absence. Teyla looked around before walking over to the window.
She got stuck, appearing like a statue when she saw a hive ship. Soldiers emerged, occupying the territory. Kendra looked up when she saw Michael. He had green skin, white hair, sharp fangs.
He looked at his compatriots.
"That's what I felt attracted to," he declares.
Panic took over Kendra's body. Michael turned to clutching his locket. Her heart was beating rapidly as Teyla stepped in front of her.
"They know we're here," says Teyla.
"I'm finally going to join my people," he says.
Kendra grimaced at his words.
"We will become enemies again in this case" indicates the Athosian.
Kendra squeezed Teyla's arm. The Athosian looked at him while her friend lowered her head.
"We always have been," Michael said.
"What are you going to do with us ? Eat us ?" Teyla questions.
"It's not the desire that I lack," he admits.
"You will die if you kill me," Kendra says.
"What are you talking about ?" he asks.
"While you were unconscious, I delved deep into your memory. I strengthened our connection to the point of linking my life to his. If you die, I die and vice versa" explains Kendra.
"You're lying," he replies.
"None" admits the young woman.
He growled as he held out his hand ready to devour her but gunshots rang out. Kendra lowered her head as Teyla took her arm. Ronon fired at the arriving wraith troopers. Michael fell into unconsciousness as a wraith commander appeared and leaned towards him.
They all escaped through the stargate back to Atlantis. A few hours later, Kendra is kept alone in her room, wearing a white tank top and shorts. She sighed before lying down and closing her eyes to immerse herself in Morpheus' arms.
She remembered all the moments she had spent with him when he was still human. A sad smile graced her lips as she clutched her locket thinking of all the things she had lost.
Three months later...
October 18, 2006
Kendra finishes writing reports for several city teams. Kate was in the middle of a session. Kendra had been feeling bad for a few days. She had vomited twice in the space of a week. She thought she had caught the stomach bug transmitted by Zelenka when they ate together last week.
A pain in her stomach makes her grimace. She finished her tasks before leaving the office. She went to the infirmary crossing paths with Doctor Beckett.
"Hello Kendra" he greeted with a smile.
"Hello, I'm sorry to bother you but could you give me something to help with the urge to vomit ?" she asked.
"Ah I'm afraid I'm running out of medicine, Doctor Zelenka has used up all the stock," admits Carson.
Kendra grimaced as she stood by the wall.
"Lie down, I'll check you," Carson says.
Kendra's head turned before she settled down. She passed out on Carson before they called nurses. Two hours later, Kendra woke up, pale.
Carson approached the young woman with the results of his analyses. He sat down smiling.
"Congratulations, you're pregnant," he admits.
Kendra looked at her in surprise before hearing her heart beat rapidly.
