[I OWN NOTHING]

CHAPTER 2: NORMAN AND DEREK LEAVE

FOREWARN: THERE'S A BIT OF SWEARING IN THIS CHAPTER. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

I'm sorry to say that Fireman Sam was wrong - Norman decided that he WAS gonna run away, and do it he did.

Norman was already talking about his idea to run away from home. And he told Derek that he could come too.

"Norman, are you sure this is a good idea?" Derek asked.

"Trust me, Derek," said Norman, "I've never been sure in all my life."

"It's just, well," Derek began, "Well, we could get into a lot of trouble."

"We're already in trouble with the campfire, remember." Norman said. "What's a little more trouble gonna do?"

Derek was worried about this, but he reluctantly agreed to join Norman.

Later that day, Norman Price was busy writing a letter, telling anyone who read it that he and Derek were running away.

The letter read, "Dear anyone who reads this letter:'

'Don't bother looking for us, cause me and Derek are running away to Newtown and we will never ever EVER be coming back, EVER!'

'GOODBYE FOREVER, YOU SMELLY OLD PIG-FACES!'

'NORMAN PRICE'

"Done." Norman said to himself. Immediately, he began to feel much happier. "When everyone's asleep tonight, We'll sneak out the back door, and run away!" He chuckled naughtily to himself. "This is so exciting!"

Derek chuckled too, albeit a bit weakly, and worried.

Finally, night-time arrived. When Norman and Derek were sure Dilys was sound asleep, the got up, and grabbed their backpacks. Quietly, they snuck out the bedroom into the kitchen, and raided the cupboards for snacks and drinks, and filled up their backpacks. Then they put said backpacks on their backs.

They snuck downstairs, really quietly, then Norman grabbed the picnic hamper Dilys had packed that morning, and then, they very very carefully pushed the back door to the shop open, and snuck out into the night. And then, they ran out down the road. Then, Norman stopped, and turned round, staring at the shop, and then he shouted out at the top of his voice very loudly, "GOODBYE FOREVER, YOU GREAT BIG FAT SHITHEAD OF A MAM!"

And then, off Norman Price and his cousin ran, down the road, over the hill, out of town, past the Floods' house, and off down the road to the forest. Neither of them cared about what Dilys, Fireman Sam, or anyone else would say if they found out they had gone. They didn't care if they never even saw Pontypandy again. All that mattered was going far far away, and never ever coming back. EVER.

'Mam's gonna be really sorry when she finds me and Derek gone!' Norman thought to himself.

Norman took one last long look at Pontypandy in the distance.

"So long, Pontypandy." he said, and carried on going, disappearing into the night, with Derek right behind him.

almost an hour or so later, Norman was now skipping merrily along the road, as happy as a jackrabbit, as merry as a schoolboy, and he was feeling very pleased with himself. "Haha!" he chuckled naughtily to himself. "THis is the best thing I've ever done! I don't know why I never thought of this before!"

"Yeah," Derek agreed. "You know," he added, "I'm beginning to enjoy this little adventure! It's almost as exciting as when I was rescued by Fireman Sam when I first came!"

"I've never actually admitted it to you or Auntie Dilys," he admitted, "but, I've never been rescued by a fireman before."

And the 2 similar looking naughty kids walked away down the road, chatting together.
