With Enny out to investigate the 'Elder Dragon', The Dragon Riders remained within her residence and passed the time in all sorts of activities.
Snotlout, Eret, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut are at the training area with Palicos watching over them. Gobbler over by the Smithy area where he studied how the Weapons and Armor are made in this world.
Stoick, Valka, Dagur, and Mala would spend most of their time catching up on certain events that occurred in their lifetime as well as doing something mutual bonding with one another.
Hiccup, Astrid, and Fishlegs went to Enny's library to study some of the Monsters and their Local Habitats.
"To think that creatures besides dragons exist in this world, oh I can't wait to meet them all," Fishleg said, "Though I don't want to be eaten by one,"
"Relax, Fishlegs. With Enny watching over us, I'm sure it'll be fine," Hiccup said, "But on the bright side, we got to learn something about these creatures,"
Though they've seen three predators so far, there was still so much to see and the library pretty much covered the other monsters they haven't. All except for the Elder Dragons as the book they found was completely blank.
Either it's intention or Enny isn't one to fill in the details, they're still curious as to what these Elder Dragons look like. Their only source of information is none other than Enny herself.
After some time, a White Palico with black spots enters the library and meows at the three.
"Is Enny back?" Hiccup inquired, and the Palico nodded in response,
"If she's here, then I guess we'd better get going," Astrid declared, "Find out what she found,"
"Though I still can't fathom how something so small and furry could understand human language," Fishlegs said, "Even when we know it, it still surprises me,"
A Few Minutes Later...
After everyone gathered in the hall room, Enny's Palico ran up to its own on all fours and she proceeded to catch and carry it off the floor, "Thanks, Mochi. You've been a bundle of help,"
Mochi meows happily, and then it jumps out of her arms and stands next to her.
"Mochi? What kind of name is that?" Tuffnut questioned,
"It's a name that's foreign to your people," Enny revealed, "But my Palico aside, it's time we discuss your first Elder Dragon,"
"Does that mean we're going out?" Eret inquired,
"Sadly, no," Enny admitted, "Because Elder Dragons is something you just can't walk up to like other monsters,"
"Think you can share some details with these creatures," Gobber question, "As in, let us know why we shouldn't fight those things in the first place,"
"I guess you all have the right to know now," Enny said, and cleared her throat a few times, "In this world, the Monsters you've all seen belong to some Wyvern. But the one that stands at the top of them all is what is known as 'Elder Dragons'. Literal Forces of Nature itself,"
"Forces of Nature?" Valka repeated with a bewildered look on her face,
"Each Elder Dragon comes with a variety of skills and origins. There's one that controls the wind itself, There's one that controls water, and there's one that shifts the very earth itself. They're much stronger and smarter than any dragon you may have seen in your world,"
"Eh, we've seen a lot of stuff before. What makes you think that anything you have will surprise us," Snotlout remarked,
He took back as Enny pulled out a small bubble carrying what appeared to be black scales oozing with small black particles. Everyone was fixated on these scales as she presented them at the center of the table.
"Can any of you tell me what's inside this bubble?" Enny inquired,
Of course, the twins were trying to answer it with their imagination. But Hiccup provides a clear answer to all of them, "Dragon scales,"
"Exactly," Enny said, then she turned to Mochi, "Can you go and bring that book about Elder Dragons here?"
Mochi meowed in response and went to the library on all fours.
"Wasn't that book blank?" Fishlegs inquired,
"It isn't," Enny revealed, "I purposely concealed the contents of that book as a surprise for those who are going to see Elder Dragons shortly. Seeing that this is your first, that page will be available to all of you,"
Mochi soon returned with the book in question and Enny brought it onto the table and flipped the pages. Once she found the page containing said monster, the image of that monster revealed all of them, "Today's monster in session is an Elder Dragon 'Gore Magala' the Black Eclipse,"
"Gore Magala, that's a pretty wicked name," Tuffnut remarked, "You guys know what you mean, right?"
"Also, Black Eclipse? Can't be any more wicked than that," Ruffnut added,
"What makes this monster so dangerous?" Mala questioned,
"That scale is contaminated with one of the many pathogens known to this world. It affects both humans and monsters," Enny explained as she turned toward the bubble containing said scale, "The people call it the 'Frenzy Virus' and its effects on humans and monsters vary,"
"And how does this Frenzy Virus kill people?" Stoick asked,
"It doesn't, it's the monster that kills you. The virus itself is just a way of weakening as it negates the natural healing abilities of humans and makes you more prone to sustaining more damage by Gore Magala's claws and fangs," Enny explained, "As for Monsters, it heightens their senses of aggression. Making them dangerously strong and fast, hence why it's called the 'Frenzy Virus',"
"So this virus makes monsters mad and scary," Gobber summarized, "Reminds me of the Flightmare,"
"And the leeches that drove our dragons crazy," Hiccup added,
"That's just the first part of Gore Magala," Enny said, "The scales also as their way of sensory as they lack visible eyes to see. It may seem impossible, but Gore Magala is one of the few monsters who could do the impossible,"
"So it sees through its scales, perhaps this beast may prove a challenge among us Vikings should it even appear," Stoick commented,
"And one you all shouldn't dare to face," Enny revealed, "Because these scales can stick themselves on both predators and prey and the more scales they leave, the sharper its senses become. It'll even spray the entire area with its scales and sense them via the heat it gives off,"
Hiccup thoroughly looked into the page covering the details of Gore Magala, and noticed a particular detail of its body, "Are those claws by its wings?"
"That they are," Enny said, "Those claws are razor sharp, and can tear through any living creature with it. And in case you ask, those wings also act as Gore Magala's third set of limbs,"
"Those wings are limbs?!" Fishleg exclaimed, and everyone expressed the same shock as him,
"Yes," Enny responded, "With it, they can walk on six limbs and can still fly as Gore Magala has shown great skill in it. Another noteworthy feature of its wings and claw is that it almost resembles that of a cape when furled onto its back,"
Enny soon placed her hand on the picture of Gore Magala, and pulled it out of its page to display a holographic-like picture for the Dragon Riders.
"Truly breathtaking," Valka remarked with astonished eyes,
The twins reached out to grab the picture, though their hands only phase through since it's only a projection of Gore Magala.
"And look at all those scales," Astrid pointed, "From the top of its head down to its tail, it almost looks a lot like-,"
"A Nightfury," Hiccup finished, "Only longer and more dangerous,"
Toothless lightly roars at Hiccup as he gazes at the picture.
"It gets even more dangerous," Enny revealed, and everyone turned to her, "When Gore Magala becomes enraged against their adversary, they're capable of undergoing another form of aggression which is commonly known as 'Frenzy Mode' and in this state, they're more fierce and relentless in their attacks and the hairs of their wings grew so dark that the sky around their adversary would appear as if the sky had darken due to the phenomenon known as the Solar Eclipse,"
"So it darkens its surroundings when enraged? Truly dangerous, even for any dragon it may face upon its path," Mala remarked, and Dagur agreed to this statement as he knew of the threat it posed,
"I'm afraid to ask this, but I will ask it anyway," Fishlegs declared, "How do these things breed? Do they find another monster of their kin and meet in the end?"
"They don't, because their adult form is the Shagaru Magala," Enny revealed,
"Shagaru Magala? Wait, are you saying that Gore Magala is just a baby?" Hiccup presumed much to everyone's surprise,
"Correct," Enny replied and filled the page to reveal another monster, Shagaru Magala, "This is its adult form after a Gore Magala molts all of its darkened scales. They become Shagaru Magala, the Bright Eclipse,"
Enny once again pulled its picture into a hologram and everyone gazes in wonder as Shagaru Magala is vastly different than Gore Magala.
"Unlike the scales of Gore Magala, the scales of Shagaru Magala are much brighter due to the color being similar to glittering gold," Enny explained, "They no longer require these scales to see enemies as the horns fully open and allow its eyes to see everything more clearly. Instead, they use these scales to claim territory for themselves and prevent other Gore Magalas from molting their scales into their territories,"
"Prevent Gore Magalas? Why would they want to do that?" Valka questioned,
"If we go back to Fishlegs' question on how they reproduce. Shagara Magala reproduce asexually and the method earns the first half of Gore Magala's name," Enny revealed, "For offsprings of Shagara Magala are parasitic organisms to other monsters,"
"Parasitic?" Fishlegs squeaked in fear, and some expressed the same feeling as he did,
"That's right. The mist that Shagara Magala carries not only a much stronger variant of the Frenzy Virus but also carries its parasitic offspring. Then they'll feast within the host's body for nutrients, regardless of whether the host is alive or dead. Once they're ready, they'll burst themselves out of the host's body and grow into Gore Magala," Enny elaborately explained, "The juvenile form of Shagara Magala,"
Everyone just blinked at her as they tried to process this information in their minds. Eventually, the first to react was Fishlegs as he temporarily ran out of the room and puked whatever he had eaten earlier. After he returned, he looked sicker than he was before.
"Okay... That is something I will never forget. So I'm going to go out and scream at the edge until I actually forget about it," Snotlout declared as he walked out of the room,
Fishlegs and the twins followed suit despite how accustomed they were to such things. As for the rest, they just shuddered at the thought of this fate before Hiccup continued with the following question, "Is there anything else about these two? Other than how they reproduce?"
"There is. Unlike Gore Magala, there have only been sightings of two to three Shagaru Magala since they're considered a hazard amongst the populace as well as monster kind. But only the best hunters are capable of fighting and killing Gore Magala or Shagaru Magala. However, Hunters aren't the only ones capable of killing Gore Magala or Shagaru Magala,"
"What else is there?" Heather asked,
"The other Elder Dragons," Enny revealed, "You see, The Frenzy virus is ineffective towards another Elder Dragon. Even low-ranking Elder Dragons have proven to be immune to this sort of virus, but they'll only be able to fend off Shagaru"
"And when will we see these Elder Dragons?" Mala inquired,
"Soon, Mala. Soon," Enny replied, then closed the book, "For the next monster is somewhere deep in the Swamps, and we'll depart after the others are done screaming at the edge,"
"So I guess we'll be getting ready then," Astrid guessed,
"Indeed, pack everything you'll need for the journey," Enny declared, "Oh, and be prepared for what we'll be seeing there,"
With that said, everyone excluding Enny went out of the room and prepared for their impending departure to another location. However, Enny would reopen the book to a particular page and express some level of worry for their next monster as the page reveals itself to her.
Nerscylla, the Shadow Spider...
That's pretty much the end of the first Elder Dragon, you guys, and some of you expected Kushala Daora or Blackveil Vaal. But I want to let you all know that I'll be focusing on the Old World Monsters before the New World Monsters and I've decided to do it at random rather than by generation as I may have stated in one of my previous chapters.
Also, in the next chapter, expect other notable monsters to be mentioned and explained alongside Nerscylla and you may or may not know what kinds of monsters you'll see in the next chapter.
And finally, I want to let you all know that after finishing my first Reaction Fic. The Second Reaction Fic is currently under the works.
However, it won't be a RWBY Reaction Fic rather something else that others have yet to try. Of course, I will require aid since I'm bound to make mistakes here and there but I'll make it as entertaining as possible.
