Summary: If he'd ever been anything to her, it was fiercely protective. Kagome felt her twin's affection teetered on the line of obsessive, but Mikuni thought otherwise. The past is stained by shadows and nightmares alike. All she wants is closure, but things are never as simple as they seem. Especially with the looming threat of Tsubaki.

Pairing: Mikuni/Kagome

Chapter One

The raven-haired girl seated silently at the counter, a small doll in a red dress resting on the counter in front of her. Absentmindedly, she reached a hand out to toy with one of her braids that had been so carefully done. Even to the exact color of her own hair ties, the doll's hairstyle matched her own.

Just like it usually did.

A soft sigh fell from her lips. The snake curled around her shoulders to hide beneath the collar of her shirt had shifted, coiling a bit more securely around her. At the reminder of his presence, she lifted her other hand to gently caress the shape of him. A figure came to stand behind her, fingers gently smoothing her hair down in the back, and a chuckle came from the man.

"Heh, how cute," Mikuni cooed at the sight of the two at the counter. "You and Abel match again."

Kagome turned to glance at the blonde, noting his expression. She had to stifle her laugh as she reached to take Abel into her arms. "You say that as if you don't do it on purpose," she retorted, unable to keep the dry tone from her voice. Mikuni hummed in response, curiosity reflecting his amber eyes.

"Well, you're such a cutie, how can I not want to have two?" he responded. The words fell from his lips as if what he said was the most obvious thing in the world. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes.

"Is that why you also sew clothes for her that match mine?" she asked, arching a brow as she cradled Abel to her chest upon getting up from her seat. He sent her a knowing smile.

"Naturally," the blonde responded, his grin never faltering. It wasn't a surprise for her. She knew how he could be, after all. Probably better than anyone. She reached for Jeje beneath her shirt, gently tugging him out and handing him over to the blonde. The next second, she handed the doll over to him, which he readily accepted.

He nuzzled his cheek against the doll's cooing softly over her. Kagome observed him as he did so, unsure of how to feel about the affection he showered the doll. She knew, after all…-

He looked at her next, and she backtracked a step, swiftly shaking her head.

"Nope, not gonna happen," she stated. He promptly pouted at her response. "You're gonna mess up my hair if you do that to me."

He huffed, but relented either way at her logic. Still, he glared at her. "You won't let me cuddle you anymore," he stated, his tone faintly accusatory. Kagome rolled her eyes.

"You have Abel to coddle all you want," she responded.

"She's a doll…" he stated. "She doesn't have reactions, unlike you."

Kagome glanced at him before she moved to walk around him, a faint smile on her face. She patted his shoulder as she walked by him. "I'm sure you'll survive," she stated in a matter-of-fact tone. She didn't make it much further before she felt a pair of hands circle her hips. A faint gasp fell from her lips as he tugged her back to his chest, bending down so he could rest his cheek against her own. "Hey…!"

"I'll be careful and make sure your hair doesn't get messed up," Mikuni assured in an amused tone. He sighed a second later, seeming to relax against her as he held onto her. "I miss this. It's nice." He didn't let his grip let up as his eyes closed, falling to savor the moment. They were always so fleeting and far. Kagome was silent as he held her like that, and when he finally released her, she felt him tuck her hair back into place.

As she turned to look at him, he sent her a mischievous grin.

"You're such a cutie, especially when you're flustered," he stated. "Were you aware of that?"

Kagome sighed. "I'm gonna go tidy up around the shop for a while," she stated. Neither of them had been in there for a while, so some touch-up was much needed at this point. Mikuni nodded, lifting a hand to flick it in a nonchalant wave.

"Yeah, yeah," he responded. "Don't stay out too late," he cautioned.

Kagome nodded. She knew that he would have offered to tag along to help, but she knew he had other things to take care of. "I won't," she said. "I only plan to be there for an hour or two, maybe three," she said. "I'll be back before it even gets close to dark."

With those words, she departed from the apartment they shared. She felt him watching as she went, just as he always did.

Protective.

He was always so protective…

Her steps slowed halfway down the street, a hand coming up to graze the scar she kept hidden beneath her shirt. It was on her chest, far too close to where her heart was.

Of course, he was protective.

He had every reason to be, she knew.

True to her word, Kagome ended up departing from the shop after only two hours. She made her way down the street, the busy sound of the city bustling around her. As she turned the corner, she ended up running head-first into someone heading in the opposite direction.

She was knocked to the ground, landing with a faint huff. She heard the other person's surprised exclamation.

"Ah! Sorry!"

Kagome picked her head up, blue eyes landing on the hand outstretched for her to take, so he could help her back up after knocking her to the ground. She graciously accepted it, fixing her clothes back in place once she was on her feet again.

"You're not hurt, are you?" he asked. Kagome looked at him, noting him to be a teenager- a boy in high school, by the look of his uniform and school bag. She smiled and shook her head.

"No, don't worry about it," she stated in a soft, kind tone. "I'm fine." She didn't miss the way he sighed in relief as she said those words. She also didn't miss the strange aura that seemed to cling to his own. The type of it was one she knew well.

It was a vampire's aura. Not just any old vampire aura, either. It was the aura of a Servamp, just like Jeje.

"What's your name?" she asked, her intrigue sparked at the realization he had a Servamp with him. She couldn't help but wonder which one it was, but she refrained from asking that. After all, fate had a strange way of offering this information up in its own time. They'd cross paths again, sooner or later. She just had a feeling.

"Oh!" He exclaimed, looking back at her face. "Shirota Mahiru," he told her. "What about you?"

Kagome smiled as she nodded, committing the name to memory. "Kagome. Alicein Kagome. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mahiru-kun."

He nodded, a smile of agreement on his face. "You too, Kagome-san." Her friendly disposition made it easy to talk to her, but he soon realized that he had other things calling his attention. Kagome seemed to pick up on it, and she waved him off in understanding.

"If you need to go, don't let me keep you any longer," she said. He was confused for a moment as to how she knew that automatically. "Here's to hoping that fate allows us to cross paths again."

He nodded, lifting a hand to wave a quick farewell to her before he continued on his way. A second later, she did the same. She made her way down the street, a thoughtful hum falling from her lips.

She couldn't shake the uneasy feeling she felt burrowing deep in her chest.

There was already an influx of Subclass-level vampires plaguing the city, so she knew she shouldn't worry about him too much. Not when other things were much more pressing for her attention.

Auroua-chan: Tbh I really love Servamp still. Reading the manga makes me wanna write crossovers for these two.

Warning for Yandere Mikuni. He just loves his sister and wants to make sure no one hurts her… even if he has to make arrangements to get rid of people who get a tad bit too close to her. What she doesn't know, won't hurt her after all.
She was also close to Tsurugi, which is a different salt in the wound-type situation.

Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed. Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.

Please remember to Review&Favorite&Follow, thank you!

Bye for now~
