"Santana! Hurry up!" Brittany shouts, bouncing a whimpering Chloe in her arms.
"I can't find my black slacks!" Santana shouts.
"Bathroom sink!" Brittany shouts back.
It takes Santana another ten minutes before she comes down.
"Is this alright?" she asks her wife.
"You look very dashing." Brittany says kissing her cheek and handing her Chloe. "Get her buckled up. I have to pee before we leave."
"Come on little one." Santana says taking Chloe out. "We should listen to mama or she'll get mad."
Chloe babbles in her baby talk, she's seven months old now and becoming more active. But they've also noticed that she has Santana's temper when she wants something. Thankfully most of the time she's like Brittany, very happy. As Santana buckles Chloe into her car seat, she continues to babble.
"We're so lucky you're more like your mama." Santana says kissing her forehead.
Chloe babbles, waving her little arms.
"Is that so," Santana says smiling at her daughter.
"Having a conversation with our daughter?" Brittany asks walking over.
"Yes, I am," Santana says turning, staring at her wife.
Brittany is stunning. She's wearing a long blue dress, with a plunging neck line.
"Wow," Santana says staring at her.
She swears that her wife wasn't wearing this ten minutes ago but then again she might have been more focused on her daughter.
"It's not too much right?" Brittany asks.
"It's perfect," Santana says pulling her into a kiss.
Santana is wearing a dress shirt and her best pants. Her mami had insisted that everyone dress up and when her family dressed up, they go big.
"We'd better go before we're late and your mami gets mad." Brittany says.
"I'm so glad to have you with me for this party. I was lonely at the last one we had before I met you." Santana says.
They arrive at the Lopez Manor at the same time as Christina, Sterling and their kids.
"I see we aren't the only ones running slightly late." Christina says.
"San was taking her sweet time." Brittany says. "You look amazing."
Christina is wearing a green floor length gown with a exposed back.
"So do you," Christina says grabbing Brittany's arm and the pair head in.
"And we're left with the kids." Sterling says smiling at Santana.
"I know," Santana says, cradling Chloe who is sleeping as Sterling ushers the kids in.
"Finally, everyone is here!" Maria says cradling Diego and Asia's month-old son Ian.
"Sorry mami," both Santana and Christina say.
"Mario! Grab some more beers!" Maria shouts.
"We can get stuff. It's your anniversary." Brittany says.
"Don't worry, we're just happy everyone is here." Maria says giving her a side hug.
Everyone is in the living room. The older kids have just left to go find somewhere to play. The younger kids are set up with drawing. The three babies/toddler are sleeping.
"Happy anniversary!" José says to their parents.
"Happy anniversary!" everyone else shouts.
"I'm so happy you all could come." Maria says smiling at all of them.
"Like we would miss this." Amelia says.
"Yeah mami," Diego says.
While everyone is talking to Maria, Mario pulls Santana and Brittany aside.
"What is it dad?" Santana says.
"I just wanted to thank your wonderful wife again for helping with the cops again. It means so much to both me and your mami that everyone is here." Mairo says giving Brittany a hug.
It surprises Santana a little as her dad is the stoic one except with the grandkids. But then again Brittany makes everyone love her and want to help her. She's glad yet again that her family and Brittany get along so well.
"I'm glad to help anyway I can." Brittany says beaming.
She's aware that Mario is a harder man and is so glad that he likes her.
"And I wanted to let you both know that I'll need Santana on Monday to fly to LA to meet with a few associates." Mario tells them.
"Oh," Santana says.
She used to like to travel but hasn't really since getting together with Brittany.
"And me and Chloe shouldn't go with her, right?" Brittany says.
"Yes, it would be safer for you to stay. I wouldn't bring it up now since your mami forbade work talk, but I just got word about the meeting." Mario says.
"Thanks, dad, for the heads up." Santana says.
"No work talks over there!" Maria shouts.
"Don't worry, we're not." Brittany says heading over to Asia.
Santana and Mario are joined by Diego who has some questions about babies which brings the rest of the men over along with Amelia.
"I have no idea what I'm doing." Diego admits.
"None of us do." Santana says.
Over near the kitchen, Asia and Brittany are talking about babies.
"Ian is just starting to sleep a bit more at night." Asia says.
"I'm so glad that Choe got Santana's need for sleep as she started sleeping through the night around a month." Brittany says.
"You're so damn lucky." Asia says.
"I know, everyone says that." Brittany says. "How are you and Diego doing?"
"Good, tired, but good. We have a date night set up for next week." Asia tells her.
"Those are invaluable, trust me." Brittany says. "If you ever need someone to watch him, we're more than happy to."
"Same goes for you." Asia says.
A few minutes later, the cook comes out to announce that dinner is ready. They don't normally have a cook but Mario hired one to give his wife a break since it's their 40th anniversary.
"I can't believe mami's not cooking." Antonio says and everyone murmurs their agreement.
"Your mami deserves a break from cooking all the time." Mario says.
The kids have joined them, sitting at a separate table, they've already fallen into conversation. Their food is already on the table. Katherine has their toddler son in her lap. Maria has Diego and Asia's one month old and Brittany has Chloe sleeping in a car seat next to her.
"Before we all eat, I want to say a few words." Mario says earning him a sharp look from Dawn. "And yes Dawn, I really will be quick."
Everyone chuckles at Dawn who is always yelling at Mario when he makes speeches about hurrying up as she's hungry.
"I hope so," Dawn huffs.
"It's nice to see your dad's relationship with everyone and how different each is." Brittany whispers to Santana.
"I honestly think it's now a joke between my dad and Dawn." Santana whispers back.
"Thank you all for-"
Before Mario can say anything else ten-gun men burst in and start shooting.
The whole Lopez clan jump into action, tables being flipped and guns drawn.
Santana has her gun drawn and is firing at the masked men. As she does this, she's also putting herself between her family and the gun men. Brittany clinging to her with Chloe protectively behind both of them.
"Get behind this." Santana says flipping a table as she continues to shot.
"San," Brittany whimpers as a bullet flies past them.
"Just stay behind me and the table." Santana says.
She keeps her eyes forward even though she wants to look behind her to check on Brittany and Chloe.
After several minutes of bullets flying, the gun men run out of ammo while the Lopezs are still firing.
"Out," the lead guy shouts.
The ten men leave, carrying two of them that were hit.
"Everyone okay!" Mario loudly says.
"We're okay," Diego says for his family.
"A bullet grazed his left arm, but otherwise we're fine." Asia adds.
"We're fine, no injuries." José says holding his wife and son close.
"Me and the kids are fine, but Sterling was shot in the shoulder. Bleeding has stopped for the moment." Christina says.
"And I was grazed on the leg." Sterling adds.
He's being pampered by his wife.
"We've both been grazed." Amelia says holding a napkin to her wife's leg.
"Just some scrapes and bumps for us. Antonio hit his head pretty hard." Dawn says her stomach growling.
"Here," Maria says handing her a roll.
"Thank you," Dawn says munching on it.
They're all checking on each other. Santana perhaps more than any other.
"Are you okay? Is Chloe okay?" Santana asks looking them up and down.
"We're fine San." Brittany says picking Chloe up.
"Are you sure?" Santana asks.
"San, sit down. You're hurt." Brittany says concerned when she sees blood on her wife's arm.
"It's nothing just a graze." Santana says waving it off.
"San's been grazed, but me and Chloe are fine!" Brittany loudly says.
"Your father possibly broke his arm and I have someone's blood on me but I'm fine." Maria says.
Santana isn't concerned about her siblings and parents. She's still looking over Brittany and Chloe.
"San, sit down." Brittany orders.
Santana sits down and let's Brittany fret over her.
"Ow," Santana groans when Brittany wraps a napkin around her arm.
"I called Sue and she's bringing Rex." Christina says knowing they need medical attention.
She's concerned about her husband.
"Britt-"
"San, for the last time we are fine. You stood in front of us to take any bullets that headed our way. I'm just thankful that you weren't hurt too bad." Brittany says snuggling into Santana's side.
When Sue arrives, she looks around to see everyone spread out nursing some injuries.
"What the hell have you all been into." Sue says shaking her head. "Rex, check over any grazes. Stich any that need it and bandage it up. I'll handle Sterling."
She already knows that Sterling has the worst injury.
Rex starts with Santana.
"Is this the only graze?" Rex asks.
"Yes," Santana says grimacing as he cleans the wound.
"Are you doing okay honey?" Brittany softly asks, squeezing her hand.
"It hurts like a motherfucker, but I'll be fine once I'm patched up." Santana says.
Brittany watches as Rex finishes patching up Santana and moves on to Diego.
"What's going to happen now?" Brittany softly asks.
While Santana has told her a lot of the family's business, she's kept her away from it as much as possible. Not wanting her to get in trouble. Brittany figures that at some point they'll seek revenge but would like to know more overall.
"We find them and kill them." Santana simply says.
"Is there anything I can do?" Brittany asks.
"Britt," Santana sighs. "I don't want you involved in the family business. If I end up in jail at least you'll be free to raise Chloe. I hate to think it, but it is possible."
"San," Brittany softly sighs, wrapping her arms around her. "Nothing will happen to you."
"I hope so," Santana says wrapping her injury free arm around her.
When the doctors have patched everyone, Sue looks around.
"You all need to rest at least two days before doing anything stupid." Sue tells them before her and Rex head out.
Mario clears his throat and they all turn their attention to him.
"From this point forward, our only business is finding out who did this and getting our revenge." he says.
"We will," Santana agrees.
