Authors Notes- Here I am with yet another Transformer Prime fanfic. This time feature the rare and barely seen (at least to me.) June/Arcee pairing. And as you know I don't own Transformers Prime that belongs to Hasbro. I only own the plot. Now that we got that out of the way here is the first chapter of Kindred Spirits.

Chapter One: Late Night Wanderings

There were a lot of things June Darby never expected in her life. She never expected to ever have the job she had she had today. Never thought she would have kids, let alone a son like Jack. Who despite her doubts had turned out absolutely fine. And the one other thing she never thought she would experience in her life as she lay there in bed. Was being introduced to the Autobots. June sighed and rolled onto her side, glancing briefly at her alarm clock, she saw that it was around four in the morning. And she was laying here thinking about this stuff.

When she should be sleeping. And yet she was wide awake despite the fact that she had just got off work a few hours ago. She should be sleeping, and yet she couldn't. Sighing June tossed the covers off of herself, and swing her legs over the side. Getting up she stepped out of her bedroom, stopping she listened. Jack was sound asleep in his room, so she didn't have to worry about waking him up. Or him sneaking up on her as she threw on a sweater, and headed towards the front door.

Casting one final glance at the darkened living room before quietly closing the door, and locking it. June sighed as a cool breeze brushed through her hair, blue eyes sliding closed as she sighed again. Since sleep alluded her she decided to do the one thing she knew always helped when he was too restless to fall sleep. Jog. Looking around once more, she trotted down the sidewalk, and down the street. Something was bothering her, and if June was being honest she was more than certain it had something to do with what she endured at the hands of MECH.

As well as that multi-legged Decepticon. And since then June had felt a little uneasy. She had constantly found herself looking over her shoulder, and jumped at every sound. Sure, with Arcee and the rest of the Autobots around she had nothing to fear from either the Decepticons or from MECH. But still... June looked over her shoulder once more, eyes scanning the area. Seeing nothing she continued on. As she did June forced then forced her thoughts to the Autobots in question. It was funny, she thought, all her life she never really thought about the existence of aliens. Sure, she had read and watched countless bits of media on aliens and alien abduction. And had more than one nightmare about the subject. Though never in all her life did she ever think that she, or rather her son would be friends with them.

Hell, one of them was currently residing in her own garage as she thought about it. Arcee. At the thought of the blue femme June had to admit that she found herself drawn to her. Stopping to catch her breath, running her hands through her sweat soaked hair. Sweat trickling down her face. Sure, June had been rather enamored with Optimus Prime when she had first met him.

In fact she still was. But there was just something about Arcee. Maybe it was because Arcee was close to her son, or maybe it was something else. Something June couldn't put her finger on but June thought, as she pushed her hair out of her face. And turned to make her way home. That whatever it was she felt about the Autobot in question, it would be a positive thing. Nodding to herself June walked up the steps of her house intent on finally getting some sleep. Unbeknownst to her. She was being watched.

Things had not gone as he planned. Silas thought, as he sat in the darkened depths of MECH's newest hideout. A scowl etched on his scarred face, his thoughts going back to the previous encounter with the Autobots. When he, with the help of the rogue Decepticon Airachnid had managed to lure Jack and his Autobot companion using the boys own mother as bait.

And at first it had seemed like things were going in MECH's favor. Until things had suddenly gone downhill from there. And while they had obtained new information about the living machines even if their prey had escaped. But as he and his men disappeared a new idea began to form in his twisted mind, as he peered down at his laptop. An image of June Darby smiling up at him. A plan that would once again involve June. This time however, Silas thought, a cold smile forming on his lips.

This time she would not escape...
