A-FORCE Begins! (A humor fic)

"So... how exactly did we end up with a A-Force team, exactly?" Steve Rogers, Captain America, asked mildly.

They were having a informal meeting, with him, Iron Man, and the three 'ringleaders' of the new team, Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Jennifer Walters/She Hulk and Janet van Dyne, the Wasp.

There was a uncomfortable minute as the three women shifted uncomfortably. Then Carol pointed at Jen, "It's HER fault."

"Oh thanks for throwing me under the bus," Jen rolled her eyes.

"Ladies?" Tony Stark, Iron Man, said.

Janet sighed, "You know I have fairly regular coffee dates? For lady heroes."

As one of the longest active heroines, Wasp was held in great respect, plus maintained a network of friends and allies. She had also been mentoring younger heroines.

Tony remembered when Firebird joined the West Coast Avengers. He had hit on her, not aware she was a devout Christian and very uncomfortable. She had asked Janet for advice, she told him to back off, and later Tony had apologized to the lady...

"Anyway, we were having a wine day when an Avengers Alert came in," Carol said wryly, "and EVERYONE there went."

"Which explains why there was Vindicator of Alpha Flight, Medusa of the Inhumans and several X-Women," Steve noted.

"So we handled it, and a reporter asked Jen what team we were," Janet said.

"And I said A-Force as a joke," Jennifer sighed. "I didn't think they'd take it SERIOUSLY."

All three women sighed.

"It's trending on twitter, there's already a fanclub," Tony mused.

"And someone photoshopped a awesome group shot for unofficial t-shirts," Steve added, amused.

All three sighed AGAIN.

"Well, I don't see why we can't have a A-Force team, anyway," Steve shrugged.

Notes: So, Marvel did A-Force as a tie in to Secret Wars, and it was just a army of lady heroes tossed together for no reason. Which was fine.

But it sold SO well that Marvel decided they wanted to do a ongoing... and then had top explain how A-Force formed. Which ended up being a fairly poor, badly written story to be honest.

It seemed to be it could just be a pre-existing THING in Marvel continuity, an informal group of friends who became a team mostly by accident.
