One-shot XVII: Birthday.

*Modern AU!*

Little drabbles about things that would happen for the twins' birthday.

Song.

The twins' fifth birthday party was approaching and Zuko wondered what the menu would be for a bunch of hyperactive kids, maybe something small and not too fat. While looking at the different options and comparing the prices on the kitchen table, he saw Tenzin come in overly excited, humming a song and had that look that said he would empty the fridge, instead of stopping him, Zuko took out his phone slyly and started recording, just in time because the boy started singing.

"And the kitchen, big kitchen, in my little house, like that" he sang without looking at his father, he was tenderly waving his hands to indicate that something was big or small "with a big oven, that gives me cookies... delicious cookies with chocolate chips."

He knew that his children had a strange fondness for singing all the songs they learned in kinder, but Tenzin went a little further and when the lyrics ran out, he sang lengthening the lyrics with everything he had around at his disposal. He watched the little boy take a slice of pizza out of the fridge and happily sing to himself about how much he loved that food.

Zuko finished the video, it was just the first one he could record, Tenzin always found out and was embarrassed but he was so happy for his birthday party that he apparently did not care that his song was immortalized.

Clothes.

Aang struggled a bit with his little girl, it was supposed that two weeks ago she had asked him for the princess dress, which was pink like the one in that Barbie movie that she loved to see with her brother, he had even looked for the tiara with hearts and he himself was starting to make Anelisse's dress, but aunt Katara had the great idea to put them the first Harry Potter movie and then the next one, and the next one (although that one scared them a bit) and so on until in a few days they saw them all , like other movies and series of magic and witches.

Now Izumi no longer wanted to be the princess who exchanged places with the pauper (which her brother thanked her because she would force him to wear a blue dress) instead she wanted to be a witch.

"Witches are much cooler" her daughter began to talk about her when she went to ask him for a change of choice of her wardrobe "they fly on brooms and use beautiful magic wands."

"But the princesses are also great" Aang said looking how the pink dress skirt was almost finished "they are pretty and smart."

"But they don't do magic, daddy. They don't fly and have to save them. Witches only do like this..." Izumi moved a tree branch that she had been using as a magic wand for three days "and the bad guy leaves or they can fly very high and flee from evil, that's why I'll be a witch."

"What do you think of a pink cape?" Aang asked, looking the almost closed skirt again, the girl seemed to think about it for a moment and she nodded excitedly.

"Also, a hat."

Aang nodded and completely changed the design of his daughter's outfit, he just hoped that Tenzin wouldn't do the same or Izumi would change her mind again.

Gifts.

At age of five, Izumi and Tenzin had one of their biggest dilemmas: what they would ask their parents for birthday gift, although they each had a gift, that year they decided to ask for a gift that was for both of them. Although they were already clear what they wanted there was another topic that was not completely clear about.

"I like the blue easy oven, it's nice and simple... and it has two cake molds" Tenzin said very seriously after using the printer in his father's studio to print a photo of it.

"But I want white with glitters... it has glitters, and nothing is better than glitters, you can also make cookies in it" the girl said holding her own print of the easy oven that she wanted.

"It only has one cake mold, that's silly."

"Well, blue is stupid, it's ugly and square, nobody likes square things."

"It is not ugly."

"What are you doing, kids?" Zuko entered inside the bedroom after realizing that the children had been locked up for a long time.

"We are in a very important discussion; we decided our shared gift" Izumi answered with all the seriousness in the world.

"We don't know what easy oven to ask for" Tenzin continued "if this one that is very epic" he pointed to his printed image "or that one that is weird, but Izumi likes it" the girl looked at him badly.

Zuko froze for a moment, he never imagined that there were so many models and that his children would fight to decide which one they wanted, he only bought a pink one that he thought (naively) was the only one there was. The children explained almost loudly why their choice was the best, while Zuko wondered how to fix the situation.

"What do you think of a pink and white one that is shaped like a real oven?"

"I don't know, I like blue."

"I like the glitters."

"The pink has many glitters and more baking molds" with that last one he seemed to convince his son at least a little bit "so you won't fight for which one is better, it has a bit of both."

The children thought about it for a moment, not very convinced, but after a while they decided that what their father told them was fine. Zuko only hopes that the gift was okay.

Men cry.

And the time most awaited by children and adults at a party arrived: the piñata.

All the kids (even the not-so-kids) gathered to see the huge Harry Potter piñata, the twins were supposed should be at a candy collecting action plan, but Bumi was the most excited about it. As the tradition said (Zuko trying to get Bumi away from a bat) the twins went first and the younger children hit the piñata, thus going up to the older children and to the parents concern, it seemed that none of them could handle the piñata, at least not until they arrived to Bumi.

Anyone who had a small child pushed them away as fast as they could but, unfortunately, Zuko's reflexes failed him and he saw the right moment when the piñata broke, Tenzin ran to the candy and Bumi threw the bat that almost hitting the child; however, Tenzin was not saved because when he was about to take some sweets, Bumi elbowed him right in the face although this did not stop the child and using all his strength not to cry, he filled the bag as much as he could than his sister even though she was unharmed.

After a couple of minutes, the children arrived with their parents who were a bit distressed. Izumi arrived comforting Tenzin who was starting to have watery eyes and was touching his forehead.

"Daddy, is it true that men cry?" the girl asked when she was in front of Zuko, he just nodded while Aang went to look at his son.

"You don't have to hold back, okay" Zuko said.

"No dad... daddy. A man only cries after a battle" the boy lifted the candy bag from him for a moment and started crying, he also accused Bumi of hitting him.
