Over the next few weeks, Ruby and Yang visited Stryker, who grew an extra 3 ft and 200 Ibs, and the Indominus Rex really took a liking to Yang. The two would rough house against each other, and Yang proved tough enough to be rough with him. Today, Ruby and Yang brought cookies with them. Stryker loved the cookies. He had become addicted to these sugar treats.
After having five cookies, Stryker felt a new presence, and growled with his quill sticking up more than usual. The girls looked in the direction Stryker was looking and saw their dad, Taiyang Xiao Long, come through the trees. His face bore an unreadable expression seeing both his girls sitting next to a large animal more than capable of killing them both.
"Explanation, NOW!" Taiyang said.
So Ruby and Yang explained how Stryker was found and how he saved Ruby's life.
Taiyang thought for a moment before saying, "Okay, he can stay. But if he hurts either of you, he's dead."
"Don't worry dad," said Ruby, "he won't hurt us." Stryker sniffed Ruby to see if she still had more cookies.
"Sorry Stryker, I'm out of cookies," said Ruby. Stryker then chuffed in sadness.
Over the next few months, Stryker was now able to stay by the house. He managed to make friends with their dog Zwei, but Zwei still felt a little uncomfortable around the Indominus Rex, seeing as he was not fully grown. Taiyang was still concerned about how Stryker would be like, but seeing him defend both his girls against a pack of Beowolves changed his mind instantly.
One day, after hunting, Stryker was walking back to the house for a nap. He then heard a caw and saw a crow flying by. Then, the crow turned into a man. He had graying black, spiky hair, brilliant vermilion eyes, and slight stubble along his jawline. Along with a red, tattered cloak, he wore a gray dress shirt with a long tail, black dress pants and black dress shoes. He had a sword on his back that was his weapon. He was Qrow Branwen, Uncle of Yang and Ruby. But Stryker didn't know that.
"What," said Qrow, "never seen a crow turn into a man?"
Stryker was down on all fours growling deeply.
"Hey," said Qrow, as he reached for his weapon, "This doesn't need to get violent."
"Stryker!" cried Ruby. The huntsman and Indominus Rex looked back to see Ruby.
"What are you growling at?" Ruby then looked past to see her uncle.
"UNCLE QROW!" she cried, and she ran up to him with rose petals behind her. Ruby grappled onto his arm and was dangling from it.
"Hey kiddo," said Qrow, "let's go inside."
The two went inside, and then Stryker saw a raven looking at him. He stared right back at it before it flew off. Inside, Qrow asked about Stryker.
"So, any idea on what he is?"
"No idea," said Taiyang, "Ruby found him in the woods a few months ago and he seems really protective of the girls."
"Nothing on Remnant looks like him," said Yang, "we looked at every book and every known predator on the planet and nothing comes close to him."
"Yeah," said Ruby, "he is one of a kind."
"I bet he is," said Qrow.
"Are you kidding?" asked Taiyang, "That thing has Ruby's eagerness and Yang's stubbornness. He can be a merciless killing machine but is as playful as a dog when it comes to the girls. What's more, it that he keeps growing every day."
Qrow thought back to when Ozpin had said that there was a strange energy serge in the same area that Ruby found Stryker. Could Stryker be the source. He shook the thought off and spent the day with his family.
That night, Taiyang actually let Ruby sleep out of the house with Stryker.
"Good night Stryker," said Ruby. She then fell into a deep sleep.
Ruby opened her eyes to see herself in a room like there was in a lab with tours. She then saw people walking with a red headed woman in front.
"The de-extinction was right up our ally, but let's face it," said the woman, "No one's impressed by a dinosaur any more."
Dinosaur, Ruby thought.
"So when you want to be impressed," asked the woman, "what do you want?"
"We wanna be thrilled," said a man.
"Don't we all." The woman then showed an image of Stryker and said, "The Indominus Rex, our first genetically modified hybrid."
"How did you get two different types of dinosaurs too... you know?"
"Indominus wasn't bread," said a scientist, "They was designed. The siblings will be fifty feet long when fully grown. Bigger than the T rex."
Ruby then saw another Indominus kill Stryker before seeing the same one eating people, and being beaten by a large two legged animal with small arms and a massive head, with a smaller animal, with sickle claws on it's feet, before seeing a see creature drag the Indominus to the water.
Ruby then woke up and looked over to her friend, who was sleeping very peacefully.
"Indominus Rex," said Ruby to herself quietly.
