A/N: Hey everyone. I'm so sorry for this very late update. I went camping for a while, which in turn delayed me in writing new chapters, which delayed me in updating this. I've also been sick for a while, caught a cold. I'm feeling better now though. Anyway, I'm sorry, but don't worry, to make it up to you, the next update is next FRIDAY! So you don't have to wait too long ;)

...

James was the first to recover, instantly pulling his wand and easily rendering Harry unconscious. Lily was still in shock, her eyes watery and her hand covering her mouth. She turned her horror stricken face to James. Suddenly it was hard to breathe.

"I told you, Lily! It's all Voldemort's plan to deceive us!" His own eyes were brimmed with tears though. No one should go through this, Lily dimly thought. Why would someone make an irrational...irrational joke like that? Her tears were spilling all over. "James" she barely choked out, her knees buckling underneath her. James hurried to her, and engulfed her into a warm hug. One that spoke measures. One that said, 'I'm here for you'. But James was shaking, his nostrils were flaring, jaw tight. He could hear a buzzing in his ear, and his face was red with rage.

"Give me one reason not to Avada Kedavra the shite out of him right now, Lily" James angrily whispered. Lily only broke down harder. James sighed, realizing his mistake and continued comforting Lily. James knew he should've been more careful, he made a huge mistake by letting this person in their lives. Now he's going to pay for it, and Lily. Sirius was right all along, he gravely thought. Oh he should've known all along. Although the situation isn't too bad, no one's injured or worse, dead. James would do anything in his power for his family, even dying himself instead of one of his children, to protect them. He'd sacrifice anything as long as they live, and to grow up happy in this depressed, dark world.

After the accident, everyone was heartbroken. James almost went into depression. Lily miscarried their baby of 4 months, and James lost it even more. It then seemed like he built walls so high, that seemed impossible to shed. He forgot how to live for a while, and suddenly understood the gravity of this life. He thought that he must've done something to get this. Something wrong, and now he's getting punished. Why else would his children die? -It was too much for everyone. He doesn't really remember how he got out of it, but Lily was definitely a huge part. She was devastated and as lost as he was, but she was there for him. Then he realized that no one would bring him down. He wouldn't allow it. He wouldn't lose, no. So he got up, and taught himself and Lily how to walk away from their dark walls. They managed, and after that it was all blurred. At the beginning, they didn't want to risk getting another child that would bring them pain like the pain from their first two. But Lily insisted, saying that with children life becomes about living beyond yourself, something bigger and better. So they got their sweet Jasper 1983, and baby Amelia in 1985. They learned to live, and survive despite their scars. Their internal ones. They raised their beautiful son and daughter, and woke up to live again.

But today, today James was reminded once again how cruel life and people can be. No one gets what they want. Every person in this damned world suffers in a way that others don't. Everyone's got issues of their own, yet everyone thinks theirs are more significant. The truth is no one's issues are greater than someone's else, they're all equally hard. A thing that someone might take for granted, can be something someone else deeply desires. The world is such a messed up place. It's never easy.

Lily sniffed against his chest, leaning heavily into him. She then pulls away and walks to their bedroom without looking back.

She walked softly to the closet, and opened it. She closed the door, sat on her knees and took a deep breath.

"Lumos," she whispered quietly, and pulled a hatbox towards her.

The hatbox. The hatbox that had all the photos. The left of the photos, the reminders. The painful reminders. She carefully opened the hatbox and stared at it's contents. She slowly took some photos out and speculated on them, handling each one as a porcelain doll. As delicate pieces of glass that can break. The dates on the back ranging from 1980 - 1981. She takes one after one, tears streaming down her face.

James sighed, looked at the imposter, made sure the spell was in place, and went down looking for Padfoot. He looked all around the cottage, and didn't find them. Then he remembered their talk during breakfast and went out looking on the shore. There he found Padfoot and Moony, swimming alongside the kids. He stared at them for a while, listening to their laughs. Then Moony craned his neck and caught his eye. James gestured to him and made his way back to the living room. Remus is pretty smart, he understood. In a minute or so, Moony and Padfoot were in. Sirius was grinning from ear to ear, and James almost felt bad for what he was about to say. Sirius for some reason, was the most affected after it happened.

"Moony. Padfoot. I don't know what to say. Where to start. There's no easier way to break this to you" James whispered, his head leaning on his hands as he slumped on the couch.

"James?" Sirius asked, instantly frowning, his eyes worried.

Remus sat down next to him, his hand found its place on his knee, "How about the beginning?" He gave him a hesitant smile.

"I- I don't know what to say. He said his name is Harry! And he's 17 years old. And and...and he looked at me and Lily and...dear merlin" James pulled at his hair.

"James?" Sirius stressed out his name this time.

"And oh dear merlin. He called us mum and dad! Merlin's beard," Silence ensued around them, "It is a trick from Voldemort after all!" James shouted out loud, his breath erratic and abnormal.

"Where's Lily James?!" Remus stood up, his face suddenly serious, he took out his wand.

"I- I don't know. In our room, I saw her enter. I made him unconscious. We have to kill him!" James stood up as well, his eyes darting around and frantic. He was clenching and unclenching his hand.

"You need to calm down, James. In a situation like this, you should keep your mind. You were trained for this" Remus said sternly, staring at James.

"Right. Right," he sat back down again, "We'll kill him, alright? Padfoot?"

Sirius was standing frozen, his face shell shocked. "Sirius?" James tried again.

Sirius slowly turned his face towards James, then whispered "I told you he's dangerous"

"Siri. Siri," James stood up, his hands on Sirius's shoulders, "It's alright. It will be. No harm was done. We'll just have to kill him quick, alright? He is a death eater after all. Now let's talk in our office" He guided still shocked Sirius to their office. Remus closed the door behind them.

Little did they know that Jasper had heard every single word.

…..A while before…..

Jasper saw his godfather Remus, and Padfoot walk away, following his dad's gesture. Jasper instantly knew it was serious. And this time, he won't be left out, he thought determinedly. He wore his slippers, and started walking to their cottage. When Amelia called him, "Hey Jas! Jasper! Where are you going?" she yelled.

"Shh Shhhhh! I'm going to be right back. You stay where you are!" He closed the distance between them and told her.

"What? Why? Don't you wanna swim more?" she asked hurriedly.

"Yes yes, I do. Just wait here. I'll be right back. Don't act suspicious. Just swim." he tells her and starts walking again.

"But whyy? I wanna come too" Amelia started getting out of the water.

"Em! Stop it. Just, I'll be right back. I'll buy you a chocolate frog" he changed tactics.

"No. Two" She smirked at him.

"Deal" he answered, and walked once again.

"What? You actually agreed?! I could've asked for more!," he gave her a look, "Oh fiiine" she went back swimming.

Jasper sighed in relief and started walking once again. He stood near the entrance of the living room, hidden, when he heard his dad's voice.

"I- I don't know what to say. He said his name is Harry! And he's 17 years old. And and...and he looked at me and Lily and...dear merlin"

Jasper's mouth slacked open, his eyes widened. There's no way! His face lost the colour that it had a few minutes ago.

"And oh dear merlin. He called us mum and dad! Merlin's beard," Silence ensued around them, "It is a trick from Voldemort after all!" James shouted out loud, his breath erratic and abnormal. Continued his father's voice.

Jasper paled even further if that was possible. He covered his mouth with his hand. Merlin's beard. A death eater in their house? There's no way. Besides, the wards should've detected anyone with the mark, except Uncle Sev. The wards should've kicked any marked person out. How is this possible again?

Jasper continued hearing every single word. Till his dad mentioned killing him. He can't kill him! Jasper frantically thought. It wouldn't be fair. They didn't even hear him out. He's going to do something about it, Jasper thought. When he heard the office door close, he ran up to his room quickly, making no noise. He closed his bedroom's door quietly. Now what do I do? He wore a tee over his head and paced around. Suddenly a plan formed in his head. He hurriedly took his invisibility cloak out of his trunk, and threw it over his head. He checked for anyone in the hallway, when no one showed up, he tiptoed to the guest's room, where he was kept.

He didn't know that he was in for a great shock.

The door was open, he peeked his head inside. The bloke was sleeping. Then he remembered his dad's words, that he rendered him unconscious. He closed the door behind him. He did look like his dad a bit, he concluded. He spotted his mom's wand on the night table and quickly snatched it. "Rennervate" he whispered. He was greeted by emerald green eyes behind glasses that matched his dad's.

He sat up quickly, "What? Who are you?! Have you seen my mum and dad?! I just saw them"

"Shh, Shhh. Calm down. Muffliato," He whispered once again.

"You can do magic? How? Wait, where are we?" Harry instantly asked.

"I'm a wizard for sure. Our cottage has warding that makes it hard to trace magic. I'm allowed to do magic here even though I'm 15" Jasper quietly explained

"Oh, I see. Have you seen my parents?" he asked frantically once again.

"About that. Who exactly are your parents?" Jasper already decided to question him.

"Lily and James Potter" Harry quickly answered.

Jasper took a careful step behind, he still might be dangerous. He tightened his grip on his mom's wand.

"And who might you be, if I may ask" Jasper went professional mode, his eyes narrowed warily.

"What? Oh. Harry. Harry James Potter" Harry figured that if his parents are here, it's pretty safe to declare himself.

"Impossible" Jasper whispered unbelievingly
