A/N: Okay, I'm back. I really worked my butt writing this. I had to rewrite this whole chapter because of some...flaws. But I did it! It's Friday and here I am :). I'm not one who breaks promises haha. Enjoy.
I just want to have a word on this matter. To the guest who wrote a review honestly. One with constructive feedback and caused be a whole paradigm shift in my story. Thanks for the review I guess, even though it was rude. Honestly, it made me feel bad a bit. But I'm unstoppable. Here's the review for anyone who is curious.
You do suck at writing him properly and the fact you have just blurting shit out to people he would recognise as dead is just bloody stupid.
He's be just as suspicious as they are, especially when any moron with half a brain cell would be able to tell when to keep their mouth shut or hold back on the information they give out to bunch people who should be dead and a random kid asking questions.
I mean, yeah I did say I suck at writing Harry. Oh well...
Disclaimer: All known characters are not mine (unfortunately). But Jasper is!
...
"Impossible" Jasper whispered unbelievingly
He then quickly collected himself. "Your age?"
"Err 17"
"Birthdate?" Jasper asked.
"Why would I even tell you?" he answered, positively confused.
"You just gotta trust me. I'm here to help"
"Why would I trust you? Who are you anyway? You're too young" Harry asked warily, his eyes squinting.
"I'm someone on your side at the moment. You have to trust me, we don't even have time before they come and kill you" Jasper slipped out, he covered his mouth, eyes wide.
"Kill me? What? Why? Who will?" Harry frowned. "Where did you say I was again?"
"We're at my family's cottage. H-Harry. They think you're a death eater, or someone who works for Voldemort" Jasper told him hesitantly.
Harry was shocked. How could anyone think he would work for Voldemort? He also noticed how the boy didn't flinch from Voldemort's name. They must be somewhere far from the UK atleast. They have the London accent though. Where was his wand again? He looked around him for when he needs it.
"Where's the cottage at? and I'm not a death eater. It's that much clear. From my name"
"All I can say is that we're in England. The thing is, we still don't actively know who you are, and if you're a death eater or not. But I promise that I just want to help you here. You really just gotta trust me" Jasper was confused by Harry's last statement.
"but how?"
"What do you mean"
"How can I trust you if I don't even know you? I'm not an idiot"
"I, ok, I don't know how to prove myself to you. But there's truly some people who I overhead that want to kill you. The people are good, I assure you, they just went through some tough times and they're a bit paranoid now. Although I'm certain you're not a death eater for reasons. Including that you don't seem to recognize me, and you would've killed me by now. I just need to make sure, and then we can clarify to them that you aren't an enemy"
"Alright I guess. To be honest with you, I doubt you're a death eater either. First 'cause you're awfully young-"
"-I'm 15"
"Exactly. Because you're awfully young to be one, and if you were, you'd probably recognize me. Though I'm not sure whether to be relieved or worried that you don't. Now what are you going to do?" Harry realized that he was in no danger with this boy. But there was still the chance that his parents are death eaters or murderers.
"I just really need to make sure who you are. Thought I kind of recognized you"
"er ok I reckon"
"Great" Jasper sighed in relief.
"Hang on, you said something that made me wonder who you are. What do you mean I 'don't' recognize you? Are you famous or something?"
"Maybe? Something like that" Jasper replied, still not fully giving his identity. Jasper was one of the Potters. It's easy to say that he's easily recognizable by everyone who Voldemort terrorized because of what happened to his brother. It made him a target to Death eaters, him and Amelia both. His dad is also head auror, which gained some reputation. Not that they need any more than what they have.
Harry was confused. He could swear he saw his parents, that the mediwitch somehow was his mum. That his dad was standing in front of him, looking exactly like the photos with a few wrinkles around his eyes. He barely called at them when everything became black. Maybe it was a dream? He vaguely remembered being hit with the killing curse by Voldemort. How was he alive? There's also a sort of uncomfortable feeling within his insides. The pain from his left leg is coming back.
"Do you have any siblings?" Jasper hesitantly asked.
"Erm, no" Harry answered him.
Now Jasper was surely confused. The person is claiming he is Harry. His parents are James and Lily Potter, and he's 17, just like Harry. Yet he claims to have no siblings. This is confusing. Jasper mentally tables the information for later.
"Do you have a godfather" Jasper tried.
"Sirius Black" Harry choked out.
Jasper squinted his eyes, something's not right. "House? Do you play quidditch?
"Hey! What's with all these questions? How do these things matter anyway?"
"You're right. I don't know why I asked those last ones" Jasper replied flatly.
"I just don't get how I saw my parents here. She was the mediwitch who healed me, right?
Harry asked, trying to make sense of what happened. His gaze darted around.
Something's so not right, Jasper concluded. He suddenly realized, his grip tightened as he asked, "James and Lily Potter. What happened to them?"
"They died when I was one. Which is what I don't get. How are they here? Am I dead or something?" Harry stopped abruptly. He was hit by a sudden realization. He was hit by Avada Kedavra. He flashbacks to the time in the forest. The pain he felt. The feeling of being moved somewhere. Then the green grass and a boy yelling for his parents. Harry blinked, shouldn't he be...dead?
Jasper went unnaturally still, his mouth wide open and eyes wide open. He didn't notice how Harry also stilled, coming to a realization of his situation. "What'd you say? They died? When?" He managed to not make his voice shaky.
Harry looked back at Jasper. Something has happened for some reason, and he's not dead. Instead, he's stuck with a teenager asking him weird questions. He decides to see how this plays out. "I thought everyone knew. Apparently, not everyone wherever we are. They died in Halloween"
"Come again? What? How?!" Jasper truly couldn't help himself. Apparently this guy, who claims he is Harry, is saying that Lily and James Potter died? What's the world coming into? This is completely different to what Jasper knows happened in October 1981.
"Voldemort of course. Don't tell me you don't know him. What was your name again?" He answered.
"I..Name's Jasper. I do know him. Now hang on, I've got more questions for you," James collected himself one again. Trying to make out what's going on.
"Go ahead then" Harry leaned back on the pillows.
"So I have heard of Harry Potter, it's just you don't match him. At all. Anyway I sorta trust you now. I think. You said Sirius Black was your godfather. What do you know about him" Jasper asked. He realized how the...guy—he doesn't know what to call him— sort of choked up when he said his name.
"Sirius? He's my godfather. Passed away two years ago" Harry answered grimacing. His shoulders tense.
"What? He also died? What's the world coming into?" Jasper almost lost it.
"Listen. I'm being honest. What's it gotta do with you anyway? It's not like you know him anyway" Harry frowned. What's wrong with him?
Jasper swallowed, "Remus Lupin?" he asked hesitantly.
"Uh, he's a werewolf. He's also married"
"Married?! " Jasper blurted out, his eyes wide. Moony? His godfather? Nope, Jasper can't even imagine his godfather married.
"Er yeah. He also has a son. I'm the godfather" Harry offered.
"Merlin…" Jasper can't believe what he's hearing. "Wait. If your parents died, who raised you? I'm assuming your godfather?" Jasper frowned.
"Uh no. By er, distant relatives. They're, uh, muggles" Harry answered flatly.
Aunt Petunia? Jasper thought with horror. He shook his head and conjured a chair. He heavily sat on it, rubbing his face. This is too much. This is too eerie.
"So you're basically saying that you are Harry Potter, 17, your parents and godfather are dead. Remus Lupin is married and has a kid. You were also raised by your muggle relatives. You gotta be kidding me" Jasper sarcastically said. Better show some indifference.
"Uh Yeah. it's not like I'm making this up." Harry confusedly answered. He thought every wizard and witch knew his story. Not trying to be smug or anything, he's thankful they don't know the-boy-who-lived, yet it was odd. "How do you even know my godfather and Remus?"
"Gimme some minutes to think this out," Jasper mumbled, ignoring the last part. Okay Okay, so. He's saying his name is Harry Potter. He's 17. His parents and godfather are dead. He knows Remus and said he's married to Tonks. When Jasper is pretty aware none of that actually happened. His mind suddenly remembered the time where he and his best friend, Ethan, were interested in parallel and alternate universes, and they read a lot about that. They read about the magical theories that talked about it, and a suspicious guy who claimed to have lived in a parallel universe in 1328, who then was declared crazy and was executed. Then that murderer woman who claimed she created a spell that transfers you to another reality, she was also executed. Jasper's head jerks at the thought with surprise. Could it be? Parallel travelling? It's not too unbelievable, Jasper thought. Though he remembered his dad and Uncle Siri saying it wasn't possible, with that he grimaced. But everything does make sense with the knowledge of a possible alternate universe. This means this guy is Harry Potter. He's his brother from another universe, literally. Jasper looked up and studied 'Harry's' facial features for a while. This is how his brother from this universe would've looked, if that hadn't happened.
He does look like dad, except with Mum's eyes, he concluded. Neither he nor Amelia were lucky to get their mum's brilliant green eyes, only Harry did...at least that's what they always told them, and what the photos showed. That Harry had black hair like dad's and brilliant green eyes like Mum's. Jasper has hazel eyes like his dad's, without glasses, and black messy hair like his dad's. Amelia had hazel eyes also like their dad's, but with mum's beautiful red hair. Neither of them wore glasses though, Jasper thought as he gazed at 'Harry'.
"Have you always worn glasses?" Jasper asked him skeptically.
"Uh yes."
So yes, this alternate universe Harry had a James Potter with glasses too. According to the books, there shouldn't be too many differences. Differences that played with fate, yes, but not change in looks. So apparently, in October 1981, in the other universe, James and Lily Potter died instead, and Harry lived. Which wasn't exactly the case in this universe, seen as James and Lily Potter are alive and well. Jasper still couldn't comprehend everything, but he knew it wasn't right for this Harry to die, to be killed by his dad and Uncles. That's just wrong. Besides, he got enough proof he's not dangerous nor working for Voldemort. And his theory is making more sense by the second.
"Hey! How come you have my cloak?!" Harry pointed at the bundle on Jasper's arms.
"Huh?"
"My invisibility cloak!" Harry explained
Oh, Jasper thought. Then it's this Harry who inherited James Potter's invisibility cloak, not him. Of course, there's no person called 'Jasper Potter' in the other universe, so the cloak went to this Harry. He was about to make up a lie, when he heard footsteps coming up the stairs. Oh no. Oh no oh no. Jasper was quick on his feet.
"Pretend you're unconscious!" he quickly whispered and ducked under the cloak. He stood in the furthest corner. Shite, there was no time to render him unconscious, Jasper thought. Harry effortlessly masked his face, making him look unconscious. The door opened just in time they secured their positions. Shite shite shite shite shite shite shite, Jasper replayed the mantra in his head. His dad enters, behind him Moony and Padfoot.
"Okay guys. It'll be fast and quick" his dad whispered, looking behind him.
Fast and quick? Oh merlin, they're gonna kill him. Oh no, he has to do something. He thinks quickly. Though he could see his godfather's gaze at him. Of course, with his heightened wolf senses. He's going to have to expose himself soon. He watched as his dad raised his wand, pointed towards Harry. It was as if everything was in slow motion, his dad's lips started moving, that's when Jasper jumped from under the invisibility cloak. The silver bundle fell into the floor, as Jasper stood between his dad and Harry. "NO DAD! STOP!" He yelled, spreading his arms.
"Jasper?!" his dad choked out, surprised.
A/N: So this is it. It's definitely got more words than usual. This is not one of my best chapters. ehm ehm... please don't judge too harshly.
