It was a strange night in the United States capital; Washington D.C. While a blackout wasn't too out of the ordinary, especially in such a large city, this one was different. The generators that powered the city didn't appear to be malfunctioning and were in working condition, but yet the lights would flicker on and off uncontrollably for no reason. One area in particular had it worse of all, so that was where the investigation as to what was causing the outages started.
Detectives and officers searched around a construction site for anything out of the ordinary. One such detective checked around some bulldozers, parked in place until construction resumed the next day. At first it seemed like he was checking out another dead end, but things quickly changed when one of the bulldozer's lights suddenly turned on and the engine flared to life. "Huh?" Turning around, he saw the bulldozer coming right at him. "Aaah!" He screamed as he quickly ran out of the way. But before he could take the time to breathe, the other bulldozers also activated on their own and started driving forward. "What is going on?!" The detective screamed as he dodged the bulldozers left and right.
In another part of the site, the other detectives heard the noise and looked in the direction of the commotion, seeing the lights of the dozers on. "What's going on over there?" One of them asked before they heard the screams of the fellow detective.
"Hurry! Officer in trouble!" Another yelled as the detectives ran to assist.
Back at the attack site, all of the dozers had crashed into something and stopped. Thankfully for the detective, none of those things crashed into were him. Coming out of his hiding place, he looked around at the destruction, silently glad he wasn't a part of that. But what really caught his interest was a yellow glow coming from the ground where some of the machines were previously parked. Curious as to what it was, he slowly walked towards the object, caution in every step. The closer he got, the better look he got at the object. It was covered in dirt, but nothing a quick wipe with the hands couldn't fix.
He crouched down and wiped the dirt away, unearthing the glowing object, a large yellow orb. Unknown to him, he had just found the Yellow Cosmos Stone. "What on earth?" He asked himself and he reached to grab the stone to inspect it more closely. Big mistake as once he made contact with the stone, electricity was sent coursing through his body at an immersive rate. The power of the Cosmos Stone was so great it actually lit his body up like a Christmas tree. If the detective didn't let go of the stone soon he would die, but his muscles were failing him and he couldn't let go. He couldn't even talk besides the gibberish coming out of his mouth.
Luckily for the detective, the other officers quickly arrived and saw what was happening to him. "Oh, my god!" One exclaimed.
"He's been electrocuted!" Another shouted.
"Don't just stand there! Help him!" Another barked before action was quickly taken. Two bulky officers grabbed the detective and pulled him away from where he was squatting and laid him on the ground. This made the detective drop the Cosmos Stone as it rolled back into its hole.
The glowing around the detective ceased. He was twitching from all the electricity currently inside of him, but he was still alive. "Call an ambulance and get this man to the hospital now!" The lead officer ordered the rest of his team. The other officers saluted and quickly went to work to try and save the detective's life.
The lead officer looked down at the stone that no doubt was the cause of all of the chaos the past week. He didn't know what it was, but he knew he couldn't leave it here for someone else to come across and end up like the detective. Possibly even worse if they were alone. Pulling out a paper cloth, he wrapped it around the orb and picked it up. The cloth acted like a shield for the officer and protected him from the electrical powers. He had to bring this in. But not to the station. Something this dangerous required the President's immediate attention.
(Intro Theme)
A loud roar came from Terry as he charged towards his opponent. The Pachycephalosaurus in front of him crouched down in anticipation. "Wait for it." She heard a boy tell her. "Wait for it." He said again as Terry got closer. Just as the Tyrannosaurus lowered his jaws for a bite, Rod gave the command. "Now!"
Diamond leapt into action and immediately sidestepped out of the path of Terry's bite. "Quick, Terry, counter!" Max said to his partner. The theropod swung his tail in her direction, but Diamond's smaller size and greater speed let her leap over his attack and bash her hard head onto his side, knocking the larger dinosaur down.
Terry fell to the floor and Diamond stood on top of him triumphantly. "And I win again!" She said smugly before hopping off Terry and going over to the side of the training room where Rod was standing.
"Nice one, Diamond!" Rod congratulated her, placing his hands around her snout. "That makes ten wins in a row!"
"Was there ever any doubt?" She replied before they both shared a laugh. "Ha, ha, ha, ha!"
"You OK, Terry?" Max asked as his partner got back up.
"Other than my pride being wounded, I'm fine." Terry said as he shook himself and looked towards Diamond and Rod. "You just got lucky that time."
"It's not really luck, Terry. Diamond is smaller than you and has an easier time dodging your attacks than you do with hers." Rod explained.
"Yeah, well, if this wasn't a 'first hit wins' match then I would be the one with the ten-win streak." Terry huffed proudly.
"Yeah, we are the champs of traditional battling!" Max agreed and struck a pose with a puffed-out chest like a superhero.
Rod rolled his eyes with a smile. "I know what you're tryin' to do, Max, and it's not gonna work." He told him.
The taller brunet's eyes widened and shifted around nervously. "Uh, what are you talking about? I'm not trying to pull anything."
"You're trying to bait me into doing something stupid like what me and Laura did to you in Oklahoma." Rod said, smiling at both the memory and Max's reaction to being caught.
Even still, Max couldn't help but laugh. "Ha, ha! I'm still not quite over that!"
"And I'm still a little miffed about how you got Lola's card in Cambodia, so I'd say we're even." Rod laughed back. "Do you know how long that report on Angkor Wat took to write?"
"Couldn't have been that long." Diamond commented.
"Not when you don't have a computer to go off of." Rod responded flatly.
"Ha! Can't blame me for that one!" Terry joked.
"Of course not. I blame….other people for that." Rod said as his mood became more serious and the fun atmosphere was gone in seconds.
It didn't take Max long to realize he touched a nerve. "Oh, Rod. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-"
"It's fine." Rod waved off his concern as he walked over to the window overlooking the sanctuary and looked out of it.
Seeing as things were going south, Diamond ushered Max and Terry away. "Why don't you guys go and do something with Chomp while I take care of this?" She suggested.
"OK." Max agreed reluctantly as he walked out of the room.
"If you say so." Terry agreed and followed Max, the door closing behind him.
Seeing they were gone, Diamond walked over to Rod and joined him in looking out the window. "No one here holds anything against you and your sister. You know that, right?"
"I know." Rod replied, sounding like he had heard that many times before. "But that doesn't mean that it still doesn't hurt after hearing about what Seth and Dr.Z did to everyone, especially Cretacia and Dr. Ancient."
"Well, Seth is currently suffering in Hell, so all we've got to do is put that old bastard in his place and we can finally say that they've been avenged." Diamond reminded him.
Rod smiled and looked up at her. If there was one thing that brought them together as close friends, it was their shared desire for revenge against a certain, white-bearded individual. "Yeah. We'll take him down together."
Just then, the door to the room opened. Looking in that direction, Rod and Diamond saw Angel enter the room. "There Rod and Diamond, you are. Sent by Spectre, I was. You and Laura, he wishes to speak to."
After taking a couple of seconds to translate her Yoda speak, Rod was able to figure out what it was she said. "Did he say why?" He asked the Diceratops.
The ceratopsian shook her head. "No reason, he gave. It is important, he only said."
"If Spectre needs someone for something important, then chances are that it's another Cosmos Stone hunt." Rod said as he walked towards the board holding everyone's cards.
"Guess he saw how well we fought against Terry and decided he could use our help." Diamond thought aloud proudly.
Rod just chuckled and shook his head at her pride. "Something tells me that it's a little more than that." He said before picking up Diamond's card from its slot. Immediately, the Pachycephalosaurus glowed rainbow colors and appeared as a card in Rod's hand. Putting the card into his pocket, Rod turned to Angel. "All right, Angel, lead the way."

"A Washington D.C. detective is in critical condition after an investigation the previous night was done on the recent blackouts plaguing the city." The Anchorwoman reported from a TV on the Space Pirate ship that the four of them were watching. "According to witnesses, the cause of both incidents was a mysterious yellow orb found at the site of the investigation."
Once she said that, the screen showed the Yellow Cosmos Stone before it was paused by Spectre. "I called it, called it, called it, called it!" He sang off-key.
"Egh!" Foolscap groaned while he and Sheer covered their ears before taking the remote. "No one doubted you. You don't need to sing about it." He said before unpausing the TV and continuing the report.
"Immediately following, the orb was taken to the US Government where the President had this to say."
The screen once again changed to show the President of the United States at a conference. You decide what his real name is. "This strange stone that we have discovered is something that we have never encountered before." He spoke over the flashes and clicks of cameras. "Just touching it without any covering will put you into a critical state of paralysis and almost certainly death if the contact isn't cut almost immediately. As such, me and the rest of the Cabinet have decided that until we can figure out what to do with this electrical sphere, we have locked it away in the most secure location we know."
"Fort Knox?" A reporter in the crowd asked.
"We considered that, however, not only did we agree that was too obvious of a place, but if what I believe this stone is connected to is true, and I am not saying such thoughts out loud to the public, then we agreed it was better to instead have it secured within the city." The President said.
Seeing the speech was finished, Spectre turned off the TV and turned his hover chair to face his team. "This complicates things."
"Yeah, why is it always the same woman who reports everything? You'd think other countries would have their own reporters." Gavro scratched his chin in thought.
"As usual, Gavro gets it wrong." Foolscap rolled his eyes before correcting his brother. "What he meant is that it'll be hard locating it from within the city."
"And once again, you fail in proving to be any smarter." Spectre rolled his eyes. "We can easily figure out where the President is hiding it, I doubt he'd have any major reservations with helping us. The problem is the location. We will be heading to the capital of one of the most powerful nations on Earth."
"And anytime there's a dinosaur or Cosmos Stone involved, the Alpha Gang is going to be there." Sheer said, a hand on her chin as she pondered the information.
"Exactly." Spectre pointed a finger at her while nodding before turning to the other two. "No doubt they will use this as an excuse to launch an invasion. And with the monsters they have, they could take the city in just a few hours."
"I would say the military should be better prepared for that happening, but we all know they can't handle dinosaurs without their own." Foolscap said as he reclined in his chair. Reaching into his coat, he pulled out three cards he was given. "Guess that explains the extra cards this time."
"That's more to deal with the improved Alpha Gang if our recent battles against them are anything to go off of." Spectre answered. "To protect D.C and get the Cosmos Stone, I've decided to bring along some extra help."
"You mean the kids are coming with us this time?" Gavro asked.
"I tried to recruit them, but they all had other things going on." Spectre said.
"What could be more important than grabbing a Cosmos Stone from the Alpha Gang?" Sheer wondered aloud.

"For the last time, Rocko. We are not invading Sesame Street just so you can get revenge on Elmo as part of your 'feud'." Rex told the Altirhinus outside the Dinoseum construction site, using air quotes for feud.
"Oh, come on!" The iguanodont whined. "That stupid muppet's asking for it!"
"Those tweets weren't even directed at you!"

"Zoe, can you help me with the groceries?" Mrs. Drake asked her daughter as she placed a bag on the table.
"Not now, Mom! I'm trying to get a kill streak here!" Zoe replied as she bashed the buttons on her controller for the war game she was playing, moving her body on the couch like the plane she was piloting.
"You can just pause the game and-"
"You can't pause an online game, Mom!"

"Hehe." Max chuckled as he sat at his computer and clicked on another video.
This video showed Bali on a large skateboard, helmet and knee pads included, pushing it with his left foot to gain momentum. Once he felt he had enough force, the Daspletosaurus placed his foot on the skateboard and did a small jump. While he was in the air, the board flipped around before returning to its position just as Bali came back down, landing perfectly. "Skateboards." He whispered to the camera.
"Ha, ha!" Max laughed at the video before a thought came into his head that made him slowly from. "Is this really how I should be spending my free time? Watching dumb videos instead of something productive." He asked himself, his frown increasing with every word before it snapped back up to a smile. "Of course it is!" He said as he clicked another video.
DK
"Eh, it's probably homework or something." Sheer shrugged it off.
"So, if we're not working with the kids, then who else could you have gotten?" Foolscap asked his boss. "Because they're the only other ones besides us who know how to handle dinosaurs."
"Implying they learned from us when it was the other way around." Sheer muttered.
"I wasn't implying anything other than the rest of the town can't handle it!" Foolscap yelled back in retort.
"At first I decided I might have to abandon my post here and join you." Spectre replied to Foolscap's question. "However, it seems Seikatsu decided to have luck on our side today as we have some allies from the Future that are more than willing to help us."
He gestured to the door behind them and the trio turned around as the door lifted up slowly, most likely for dramatic effect, and revealed Rod and Laura standing proudly on the other side, each with a card in their hands. In Rod's was obviously Diamond, and in Laura's was Teddy the Therizinosaurus.
"If there's anyone who can help us, it'd be these two." Spectre told his crew as he gestured to the two new kid recruits.
"What? You saying we can't do it ourselves?" Gavro asked his boss. "We've done plenty of missions before."
"None that involved breaking into a government facility." Sheer pointed out.
"Which is good because you'd somehow screw it up." Foolscap added with a sneer.
Before Gavro could retort, Spectre coughed to get their attention. "Ahem! While sneaking in and stealing the stone would be a fun heist mission, we could do something like Ocean's Eleven or National Treasure, that isn't the plan."
"It's not?" The three pirates asked in unison.
Rod stepped up and took over the explanation. "Guys, we're not a ragtag team of nobodies. We're the most trusted allies of the D-Team. There is no reason why the President and the other higher-ups wouldn't listen to us when we say what that stone really is."
"Then what's with the extra precautions?" Sheer asked.
"Because." Laura spoke up this time. "Knowing Grand- I mean Dr.Z." She stopped herself from mentioning her grandfather by anything other than his name. "He would no doubt take advantage of this moment as an excuse to invade Washington and take over America."
"And we all know that will spell disaster for everyone." Rod said as he glared coldly at the thought. "I'll bet he's plotting his invasion at this exact moment."

"It always fails!" Dr.Z's distressed voice wailed throughout Zeta Point. "It always FUCKING FAILS!" His shouting was so loud that it not only shook the island, but also the sea and sky surrounding it. In his lab, the doctor paced around furiously as he continued his ranting. "EVERY FUCKING PLAN I EVER HAD! EVERY FUCKING INVENTION! SCHEME! The late-night romp at the club." He spoke the last part normally before screaming again. "IS ALWAYS FUCKING RUINED BY THOSE DAMN BRATS AND THEIR STUPID DINOSAURS!"
"DR.Z!" Helga's angry voice echoed throughout the room as she slammed open the door, which was motion detected so that just shows that she's mad. "What have I told you about using such language!?" She demanded an answer from him.
"But, Helga!" Dr.Z whined like a little kid scolded by their parent. "Those brats keep ruining everything for me! No matter what I do, they find a way to ruin my plans. I tried suing them, but the court would take my case because it's, quote, 'too stupid'! I've tried stealing them outright, but they keep kicking my aaa-" He stopped himself when Helga moved right in front of the doctor in record speed, glaring at the tiny doctor as a fiery background surrounded her, like a demon. Swallowing a huge gulp, Dr.Z continued. "Ahem. I even tried canceling them, and that didn't work!"
"To be fair, calling out a politician for lying isn't anything new." Ursula said. She and Zander were sitting on the couch on the other side of the room. I mean, the complete other side from their boss's furry.
"And who can forget your little incident in that video?" Zander rhetorically asked as they all flash-backed to that event.
"I've come to make an announcement!" Dr.Z said to the camera recording in front of him, the slurs in his voice making it clear he was drinking shortly before recording. "The D-Team are a bunch of bitch-ass motherfuckers! They stole my fucking deck!" To anyone who was listening, his slurring made it sound like he was saying a different D-word. "That's right, they used their greasy bratty hands and stole my fucking deck! And then they keep showing it off in my face, and I say that's disgusting! So I'm making a call-out post on my Youtube account. Ancient, you have a pathetic deck. And guess what?! Here's what my deck looks like!" But before he could continue, the video was pulled and his account was suspended forever.
"Those jerks just couldn't handle the truth!" Dr.Z slammed his fist onto the table in anger once the flashback ended.
"Yes, that was clearly what went wrong." Ursula rolled her eyes at his naivety.
"I've warned you about drinking irresponsibly, Doctor." Helga scolded him with a glare.
"That's still no reason to delete my seventy alternative accounts!" The old man shot back. Helga didn't respond, instead just glared at him, this one an icy cold that figuratively froze Dr.Z in a block of ice. "I-I mean, you made the right choice warning me, Helga." He looked down and nervously kicked the floor.
"Hmmmph." Giving a nod of satisfaction at her work, Helga left to continue cleaning elsewhere.
As soon as she left, Ed came running in with an excited look on his face. "Dr.Z, Dr.Z! You won't believe what just happened!"
"Doesn't it involve me getting my accounts back?" Dr.Z asked, having his head on the table and arms covering his head.
"Uh, no. They were serious about you never having an account again. And no hacking can fix that." Ed replied.
"Then I'm not interested." The old doctor pouted like a child.
"Well, there's a new Cosmos Stone activated, and it's in D.C." Ed said anyway.
An eye poked out from between Dr.Z's arms. "You mean Washington D.C.?" He asked his minion.
"Well, it ain't Washington State, I can tell you that." Ed jokingly replied before adding. "It was even on the news, too."
Like a PC booting up, Dr.Z's head slowly rose from the table. Before anyone could respond with anything, he slammed his fist onto a large red button in the center of the table. A bright red sign with the words 'Emergency Meeting' in white buzzed on and an alarm went off around the island.
About ten minutes later, everyone, or at least everyone who responded, gathered in the main room as Dr.Z stood in front of the whiteboard, ready to address them. "Ever since I have begun my crusade for the title of Dinosaur King, I've known that the rest of the world was only a matter of time." The doctor explained to the group as he paced in front of the board before stopping and grabbing a marker. "And now destiny has given me the opportunity to make my move against the rest of the world." He said as he started drawing something on the board.
"In order to prevent those pests of other nations from interfering with my plans, we need to conquer them before they conquer us." He finished drawing and stepped back to reveal that his drawing was that of the White House. "And what better country to conquer first than my own birth country!" He said as he put a dinosaur sock puppet on his left hand. "By the end of today, not only will we have another Cosmos Stone, but America will be crushed underneath us!" He declared as he punched the board with the puppet hand, making it spin so rapidly it almost flew off its hinges.
Those present, namely Zayid and his men, cheered at the notion. "Yes!" "Let's do this!" "Down with America!" Were just some of the chants.
Once the cheering toned down, Thud stepped up with a question. "So, Dr.Z, how many sock puppets will it take to invade Washington?" He asked.
After taking a long, silent moment to process what he was just asked, the doctor facepalmed himself with his free hand. "Ugh." He groaned before yelling at the dimwitted Ankylosaurus. "We're not gonna be using sock puppets! We're using real dinosaurs! You dinosaurs!" He pointed at Thud and the other clones accompanying him.
"Oooh." Thud said in realization before another question came into his head. "So what's the sock puppet for, again?"
Deciding just a verbal response wasn't enough, Dr.Z took off the puppet from his hand and started slapping Thud across the face with it. "Here's what the sock puppet's for, you dope, son of a gun!"
After about a minute of slapping, Ursula stepped up with a concern of hers. "Uh, Dr.Z?" She raised her hand to get his attention.
The doctor stopped slapping the Ankylosaurus Clone, who just backed away to where he originally sat, and looked at who asked the question. "What is it now, Ursula?"
"Are you sure this is really a safe idea, invading America?" The greenette asked upfront.
"Ursula's got a point." Ed spoke up. "Attacking America on American soil typically doesn't end well for the aggressors. Maybe we should just focus on the Stone?" He suggested.
"Oh, please." Dr.Z waves off their concerns. "Osama was an idiot, and Japan's a horrible place full of terrible people." He stated without any hesitation.
"WHOA!" Many in the room gasped at the racist comment.
"What?" The old man said in reply to everyone else's shock, sounding almost surprised at their tone. "Never mind that's where the brats live, Japan has a whole list of things wrong with them!" He pointed out. "I could give some examples right now if you still don't believe me."
"NO! NO!" "That's fine!" "We'll take your word for it!" The trio quickly blurted out simultaneously.
"Jeez." Pyro muttered with an eye roll. "I am a sociopathic monster who was created solely for destruction and death, and even I wouldn't go that far."
"Regardless of your feelings towards lesser nations." Dr.Z growled as he continued. "The plan is so simple that even a complete moron like Thud should be able to follow."
"Unlikely!" Bailey called out from the audience.
Dr.Z ignored her and wrote out a diagram of his plan on the whiteboard. "With our combined forces of dinosaurs and weaponry, we are gonna march right into the White House and take our prizes!" The doctor announced as he stepped back and showed poor drawings of his forces attacking the White House, which now had fire added to it.
"That wouldn't be the wisest move, Doctor." Everyone jumped at the sudden interruption and turned to a corner of the room to see Seth emerge from the shadows.
"What are you talking about? It's a perfect plan." Dr.Z retorted to his 'henchman's' comment.
Seth slowly shook his head and approached the board. "It is unlikely the President would have the stone in the White House with him. That would only encourage criminals like us to attack there. No, he would have had to store it somewhere much more secure." He took the marker from his 'boss' and started drawing on the board. "And given my knowledge about the most secure places in Washington, there's one place that would be the perfect hiding spot for such a powerful artifact." He stepped back and revealed their new target. "The National Archives."
"A museum?" Ursula raised an eyebrow. "One of the deadliest artifacts known to both man and dinosaur, and they store it in a museum where any idiot can just grab it."
"I never said it was in the Archives themselves." Seth corrected the greenette woman. "Underground from the public are a system of vaults that they use to store their documents, such as the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. These vaults are impossible for anyone outside of the employed to access. At least, they were until now."
Everyone looked at him in confusion, so he continued explaining his plan. Reaching into his pocket, Seth pulled out a small radio and tossed it to Dr.Z. "Whoa-ooh-oooh!" The doctor stammered as he nearly dropped his catch.
"I will monitor things from here and pinpoint the location of the Stone, which I will communicate to you through that radio." Seth explained his plan.
"All right." Dr.Z said as he stuffed the radio away and turned back to his minions. "Okay, new plan. Ursula, you, Zander, and Ed will strike the White House with your dinosaurs. Zayid, you and your men will take out the guards surrounding the vaults while I sneak in with Pyro and take the Stone."
"Wait, you're coming?" Zander asked.
"Of course!" Dr.Z yelled as he grabbed the marker and threw it at the tall man. "You really think I'm just going to sit here while you take all the glory from our moment of triumph!" He declared as he stood triumphant with a fist in the air and imaginary, blue lightning behind him. "Plus, I am not overestimating your chances to not botch this."
"If you have concerns about them screw this up." Pyro stepped forward, gesturing to the trio and thieves with his head. "Then maybe you want to give them better dinosaurs than that." He shifted his gesture to the other dinosaurs present.
"Errr." Bailey growled as she rubbed the large claw of her right hand against a nail file. "Stupid hangclaw."
Fang was currently rubbing his back against the wall, trying, and failing, to scratch an itch that was now starting to plague his whole body. "Oh, these ticks!" He screamed before trying to bite them off. "Nnnnnoooommm! Nnnnnooooommm!" With that not working, he tried rolling on the floor to get the parasites off. "Yaaaaah! Yaaaaah! Ooooooommmmm! Aaaaaaaggggghhhhh!" It didn't work.
And as for Thud, he just say there with a thinking look on his face. "Wood fired pizza. How will pizza get a job now?" He asked no one in particular.
Pyro looked back at the doctor with an unamused look on his face, his point proven. "Ehehe." Dr.Z chuckled nervously. Despite that fact, he shook his head to clear his thoughts and looked confident again. "Eh, they've been training. They have to be better at battling than they are at everything else." He answered. "Plus." He added with a whisper. "Giving those three clowns the elements Fire, Water, and Earth just seems appropriate. Like this is what they should have had if the brats didn't steal all the stones for themselves. Anyway, if push comes to shove and they somehow get defeated, then you'll just attack the White House, burn it to the ground, kill everybody. You know, the basic stuff.
This seemed to definitely brighten Pyro's mood as an unnerving smile crept onto his face. "Burning and murdering. Now you have my erection."
Dr.Z just blinked a few times in response to that comment. "Don't you mean-"
"No." Pyro cut the doctor off.
"Uhuhuhuhuh." Dr.Z shivered at the image. "Well, that's one appointment with bleach I'll be needing." He muttered to himself before addressing the rest of his minions. "All right, Alpha Gang! All of you get ready because we leave for our invasion within the hour!"
"YES, SIR!" Everyone present saluted. Everyone that is except for Seth, who just smiled.

In the skies above the US capital, two small Space Pirate ships approached their destinations. In one, Rod and Laura headed towards the National Archives. In the other, Sheer, Foolscap, and Gavro were all smushed together and heading for the White House. "I'm calling the union after this." Foolscap grumbled, being the one piloting as it was his ship they were in. "Pilots shouldn't have to operate under these conditions." Sharing a pod with Sheer was bad enough, but add his muscular brother and it's a miracle they can breathe.
"This is the only other pod we have since Gavro's is still getting repaired." Sheer pointed out while squished against the window, referencing how the buff guardian's ship was destroyed after Sharphorn struck it with lightning. "And keep your eyes open! We're nearing the drop-off zone, and you're the only one with the arm mobility."
"Oh, I'm sorry. Between being squished between you two, it's a little hard to see outside!" Foolscap sarcastically snapped back at Sheer's comment before placing three cards on his bandana. Unlike when Ursula summons dinosaurs in enclosed spaces these guys came prepared, and instead of blowing up the ship, the three dinosaurs were beamed onto the ground below them.
"Here's the plan." Spectre told his team in a flashback. "We'll split into two teams. Rod, Laura, you both will be the first team. Your task is to go to the Archives, explain everything to the guards, and grab the Cosmos Stone before the Alpha Gang does. Sheer, you, Foolscap, and Gavro are tasked with defending the White House from a possible invasion, as well as possibly explaining it to the President, in case we need his permission to get the stone."
"And if they decide not to attack the White House and just go for the Cosmos Stone?" Foolscap asked.
"Oh, they'll be there too." Rod answered bitterly at the thought of his former grandfather. "I know Dr.Z. That opportunist won't let this slip by."
"Precisely." Spectre pointed in the boy's direction.
"OK, but that then leads to the second problem with this plan. How are they supposed to defend themselves if they run into the enemy?" Foolscap pointed out.
"Firstly, you will send out your dinosaurs, about two or three, nearby to assist them with negotiations. Secondly, for the dinos they themselves are bringing, I manufactured these just for the occasion." Behind him, the floor opened up, with accompanying steam, and two platforms raised up. Latched onto the tops of them were two devices Rod and Laura recognized almost immediately.
"Wait, are those…." Laura started but trailed off.
"Alpha Scanners." Rod finished for her.
Sure enough, the two devices were exactly the same the Alpha Scanners the two of them had previously used. The only difference was that instead of the omega symbol on the back, there was the golden D of the D-Team in its place.
"I prefer to call them Dino Scanners. But essentially, yes, they are." Spectre replied as he grabbed a device in each hand and handed them over to the kids. "I've copied the design of the Alpha Scanner and replicated it so you two would have an easier time using your dinosaurs with a device you are more familiar with." He explained.
"Wow, thanks, Spectre!" Laura kindly beamed as she inspected the device in her hands.
Rod stayed silent while doing the same until another thought came into his head. "Wait, if these function the same as the Alpha Scanners, then how are they powered? We needed one of the stones to use the originals."
"And you seem to forget that we have six of them at our disposal." Spectre jokingly sneered as he pressed a button at the bottom of both devices. The small container at the bottom where the stone was stored opened up and revealed that both Scanners contained one of the D-Team's stones, Lightning for Rod and Fire for Laura. "And before you say 'I can't take this! These are Max's stones'. He donated them himself for the day." He quickly diminished that classic refusal excuse.
"I wasn't thinking that." Rod said as he reinserted the container into the device.
"Don't people usually say that when they were thinking of it?" Gavro pointed out.
"He does have a point, Rod." Laura added.
"Well, I wasn't." Rod said in defense, sounding slightly irritated.
"Look, not important what he meant." Spectre broke up the fight. "What is important is getting the stone and defending the capital from the Alpha Gang's attack!" He declared his a pumped, purple energy crackling, fist.
"YES, SIR!" Everyone saluted, no exceptions this time.
The loud flashing of an alarm broke the trio out of their flashback. "Uh, what's that?" Gavro asked nervously.
"It's an alarm, dipstick!" A panicked Foolscap yelled at his brother.
"I meant why is there an alarm going off!" Gavro said in retaliation, his rising fear noticeable from the tone of his voice.
"We've probably entered the restricted airspace zone!" Sheer answered, her tone also showing panic, just not as much as the two men.
Sure enough, just as she said that, a voice came on the speaker. "Unidentified fliers, land this aircraft immediately and identify yourselves! You are flying within restricted D.C. airspace!" An angry male voice came from the radio.
"Yeah, yeah! We got that, you dunce!" Foolscap angrily shouted at the radio. Sheer and even Gavro looked at the pilot with horror as they both knew who was on the other side of that call. A few seconds later, Foolscap recovered from the adrenaline rush and looked even more horrified when he realized his mistake. "Uh, I, uh, mean I love you." Sheer started banging her head against the window, or at least attempted to given her lack of head mobility, as she knew Foolscap screwed up again.
"….You have five seconds to land this vessel before you are shot down." The voice warned them after a long pause.
Sheer and Gavro's faces paled even more at the threat. Foolscap's did too, but he tried to keep his cool. "D-don't worry, guys! He's bluffing! He's not really gonna shoot us down!" He stammered.
"Five." The countdown began.
"I'm pretty sure that doesn't sound like bluffing." Gavro pointed out.
"Four."
"Uh-uh-uh-uh-it's just a scare tactic!" Foolscap gripped straws in retort.
"Three."
"Wait, we're here about the yellow stone you found last night! We know what it is!" Sheer tried to explain.
"Two." Unfortunately it fell on deaf ears.
"Oh, this is gonna hurt." Foolscap said as he tried to hide behind his brother. "Gavro, get up here at take the blast." He said as he struggled to move.
"I'm not killing myself for you!" The red pirate said in offense.
"On-OH MY GOD!" The voice suddenly screamed in panic.
"Huh?" The trio said in confusion.
The man on the other side didn't respond. In fact, it didn't sound like he was there anymore and dropped his communicator. The pirates heard the running of footsteps and shouting of words, but couldn't make out any of them. All except the unmistakable word of 'Dinosaurs'!"
The trio just looked at each other. "You don't think?" Foolscap tried to say.
"I don't think. I know." Gavro pointed out his window to the ground below them. Following his direction, all three of them saw that the Alpha Gang was below them on the White House lawn, already having their dinosaurs out and on the attack.
DK
At about the same time, Rod and Laura arrived at their destination with much greater ease. However, gaining access to the vaults was a bit more tricky then they may have liked. They found a guard and, after heading to a secluded spot so no one would eavesdrop, explained the situation to him. Thankfully, he recognized the two kids as friends of the D-Team and listened to what they had to say. "And that's why we or someone else need to get into the vaults now and grab that stone before the Alpha Gang takes it and possibly uses it to destroy the city." Rod finished the summary of their mission.
The guard pondered the information he just received. "Hmmm. I see no reason to distrust your words, young man." He told Rod. "However, what you ask for is beyond my jurisdiction. The best I can do if notify my superiors, who would then take it to the President himself. But I cannot say how long that will take, or if they will even believe you."
"Spectre thought this might happen, so he sent his team to meet with the President and explain it to him personally and get his permission." Rod explained. As they talked, Laura noticed a man walking around the entrance of the museum.
It wasn't this man's appearance that roused her curiosity, nothing unusual there, it was the way he walked that made her wary. He was constantly looking over his shoulder, no doubt making sure he wasn't being followed or spied on. Thankfully, he didn't seem to notice the little girl behind the wall of the building watching his movements. But what really made her worried was the fact he kept putting his arm into his jacket. She was certain he had a weapon concealed in there.
Not wanting to wait and see if she was right, Laura quickly but silently bolted back to where her brother and the guard were still talking. "Rod!" She hastily whispered when she got close to him, as to not possibly alert the man nearby she was onto him.
Hearing his sister's concerned whisper was enough to get both Rod's and the guard's attention. "What is it, Laura?" He turned around and asked her.
"There's someone walking around the front of the museum." She pointed in the direction she just came from. "I don't know why exactly, but I'm positive they are here for the Cosmos Stone."
Rod's eyes widened at this revelation. "Are you sure?" He asked her while gripping both of her shoulders in seriousness.
Laura nodded firmly. "The way they were walking, it…." She hesitated as she was almost afraid to say the name. "It was just like the way Seth walked."
Hearing that name made Rod's blood freeze. The guard noticed this, Seth's invasion of the dinosaurs' hometown was worldwide knowledge at this point, and tried to assure them. "Don't worry, children. It's practically impossible for that man to find the vaults where the stone is held."
As if the jinx gods heard him, there was suddenly a huge explosion that nearly knocked the three of them off their feet. "Whoaaaaaa!"
A large plume of smoke came from the other side of the building while alarms and panicked screams of guests filled the air. "I'm gonna take a guess and think they found the way into the vaults!" Laura said as they looked in the direction of the blast.
"OK! Forget permission! You two need to move now!" The guard said urgently before running over to a nearby vent near the ground. With a strong kick, the cover came off, revealing a pathway inside. "Head down these vents until you come across a loose floor tile! Unravel it and it will lead to a passageway into the vaults where your stone is! Watch out for traps!" He instructed them before running off to call for backup and figure out just what happened at the blast zone.
Both siblings looked at the vent and then at each other. "All set?" Rod asks his sister.
Laura smiled confidently at her brother. "You bet!" Rod smiled back before they both said. "Let's go!"
Being the older of the two, Rod took the lead while Laura crawled in after him. Unfortunately, the guard didn't give them specific directions on the pathway in the vents to take, and there was a passage leading ahead, to the left, and to the right. He had to quickly decide which way to take. Even if they split up and took a different path each, which was already unwise as they needed to stick together for safety, there would still be a path not taken that could very easily have the tile they were looking for.
"Rod, hurry up! We don't have much time!" Laura urged from behind him.
His sister's voice managed to snap him out of his daze. Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Rod did the one thing he could in a situation like this; eni-mini-mani-mo. "Eni-mini-mani-mo-" He mumbled to himself as he pointed a finger in the direction of the path he would take. He was just at the hollering and letting go part when he noticed something down the right passage. It was a bit far, but one of the floor tiles seemed loose. Yes, this has to be it. "This way!" He told Laura as he crawled down the vent.
He kept crawling until he was right in front of the tile. Sure enough, the corner was slightly lifted, like it was pealed. "Oooofff!" Laura said as she crashed into her brother when he unexpectedly stopped. "Warn me next time before you stop." She hissed at him.
"Sorry." Rod apologized, looking back with a sheepish smile before turning back to the tile with a serious look. "This has to be the way into the vaults." He told her before gripping the loose corner and lifting it up with surprising ease. Guess this was used more than he thought.
The tile slowly peeled away from the floor like a food can and revealed another dark passage, only this one was clearly going down. "Seems we're going for a ride." Rod warned Laura as he shifted his position so now he was sitting, legs dangling over the vent passage. "Be careful!" He warned her before lowering himself in. "Whoaa!" He screamed as he slid down.
"Wait for me!" Laura said as she copied her brother in shifting her position and also lowered herself in after him. "Aaaaah!" She screamed as she went down.
On the other side of the museum, a large hole was now there thanks to the 39 Thieves explosives that made an easy passage into the vault. Right now, Dr.Z was walking down that passage now with Zayid and ten other members of his group. He didn't say anything, but the doctor had a huge smirk on his face. This was his lucky day. Ursula and the others will take the White House, and he will have the Cosmos Stone that will power this whole city. "No." He thought eagerly. "The whole country. Wait, even better. The whole world!" His grin only became larger at the idea.
Things were going well for him. Almost too well for those with a more critical mind. But all that meticulous planning was Seth's thing. Dr.Z was an in the now kind of person. And right now he saw a clear path to the next Cosmos Stone and his crowning as Dinosaur King. In fact, they had just reached a large, steel door when they heard voices shouting behind. "They went this way!"
"Watch yourselves!"
"They could be armed!"
No doubt their commotion caught the attention of the local law. "Typical." Dr.Z rolled his eyes. "Some idiots just have to go and play the heroes." He turned to Zayid. "Zayid, you and your men take care of these fools. Take no prisoners. Define that how you will." He instructed, not really caring what happens to either group, before turning his attention to the door and pulling out his Alpha Scanner and card. "Pyro, be a dear and unlock this please." He requested the card before swiping it.
Few seconds later, and a large hole slowly melted through the door, briefly revealing the Acrocanthosaurus on the other side before he was recalled in a red glow and his summoner walked through the hole. "Hehe." Dr.Z chuckled as he disappeared into the darkness.
On the other side of the door, Zayid and his men drew their weapons and waited for their pursuers to come to them, making the hunters the prey. "They're over there!" A guard called before the sound of rushing feet filled the narrow passage. The thieves clicked their guns and waited for the first sign of life to show itself.
Eventually, the guard did reach them, all together and not just one, like expected. But that didn't matter as they were still sitting ducks. "Fire!" Zayid ordered, thrusting his sword in the direction of their targets.
The men obeyed and all hell was let loose as ten guns began rapidly firing at the guards, many getting shot and injured almost immediately. "It's an ambush!" A guard cried out in terror.
"Take cover!" Another yelled as the soldiers quickly shielded themselves behind the large rubble made from the explosion.
"Fall back!" The lead guard, the same one who helped Rod and Laura earlier, ordered the others. Knowing better than to stay, the guard quickly began to retreat, making sure to keep themselves low to the ground as to avoid the flying bullets.
"Don't let them get away! After them!" Zayid ordered his men. The gunners stopped shooting for the moment and followed after the retreating guards.
Due to them not having to keep themselves crouched it didn't take long for them to catch up with the guards. "Look out!" One of the guards yelled as the thieves prepared to fire on them again. This time they were right on top of them, so they had no way of covering themselves now.
But just as the fingers lay themselves on the triggers, three loud bellows could be heard through the tunnel. This momentarily stunned the thieves as they looked around frantically for the source. They knew those had to be dinosaur roars, but they didn't know how to react. Indeed, they expected all the dinosaurs to be occupied at the White House, stopping the attack there.
This moment of panic and hesitation allowed Mia, Romeo, and Juliet to burst into the passage, unintentionally creating even more rubble for the humans to hide behind. The three hadrosaurs roared at their opponents, putting themselves between the guards and the terrorists. The thieves, once over their initial shock, responded by aiming their guns at the giant reptiles. They had orders to take them back alive, but that didn't mean that they couldn't shoot to cripple.
DK
Fang roared loudly as he stomped towards the White House, slowly for dramatic effect. On his left was Bailey, and on his right was Thud, both following at a similar pace. Behind the three dinosaurs, the Alpha Gang had parked their ship outside of the lawn and were currently trying to climb the fence. Such a task is already pretty much impossible, but for three gluttons of punishment, it was a nightmare. Especially once they reached the sharp spikes at the top. "Oww, OWW!" Ursula yelled as her palm made contact.
"Ooooh!" Zander moaned in pain as he put his whole arm up there.
"Ouchie!" Ed squealed as he heaved himself up, and had his stomach poked by the spikes, fortunately not cutting any skin.
The trio's suffering ended when they all were able to shift their weights to the other side of the fence and fall onto the White House lawn. "Oooooh." They all groaned in pain while lying down to recuperate before Ed spoke up. "Now I'll never be able to ride a skateboard again." He nearly cried.
"Ed, don't kid yourself. No one believed you could've riden a bike before, no one believes you could've rode a skateboard now. You wouldn't have that much weight if you did." Ursula weakly pointed out.
"Hmph!" Ed huffed in annoyance at the insult. "I said I couldn't, never said it was a hobby!"
"Whatever." Ursula waved him off before lifting her head to glare at Zander. "Tell me why we had to land the ship outside of the fence?" She asked him, daring him to try and make sense of his reasoning.
"Because." Zander said as he sat up. "The White House lawn is tripped with lasers that would instantly have gone off once we landed, assuming they didn't shoot us down first with the missiles they have stationed. And since none of our Alpha Crafts or likewise have stealth modes, we had to park out of eyesight." He reasoned.
While she could see the reasoning, Ursula still wasn't pleased with the answer. "If you were so worried about security catching us, then we could've just summoned our dinos from the ship and then landed it." She pointed out.
"After the last few times you tried that, I think we've established you can't summon dinosaurs that way without destroying the ship!" Zander yelled at her.
Ursula surprisingly shrunk back at his tone, which was a first, probably due to the embarrassment of the truth. "Oh…..right."
"Uh, guys? Shouldn't we be focusing on the invasion?" Ed pointed to the dinosaurs advancing towards the building in front of them.
"Oh, yeah. I forgot that's why we're here." Zander said as he and Ursula got up and pulled out their Alpha Scanners.
"Of course you did." Ursula said before finally taking into account the loud alarm that was going off. "Ehh, I am not listening to that all day!" She growled while covering her ears.
"Finally something we can agree on!" Bailey responded as she was doing the same, using her large claws as earplugs and careful not to damage her ear membrane. "One of you idiots use a Move Card and fix this stupid thing!"
"You heard her, Zander! Fix this stupid thing!" Ursula turned Bailey's anger, and her own, onto Zander.
"Why're you yelling at me?! Why not yell at Ed!" Zander shouted in a whimpering tone from the two women's rage.
"You're the one with the Alpha Scanner!" Ed pointed to the object in the tall man's hands. "I gave mine to Dr.Z, remember?"
"It's hard to focus when everyone's yelling at me!" Zander exclaimed as he put his hands to his ears to block out both noises.
Seeing as both men were being useless right now, Ursula groaned in frustration. "Ugh, fine! I'll do it myself." She said as she quickly swiped a Fire Move Card.
Fire gathered in Fang's mouth before he launched a Fire Cannon at the White House roof, destroying the missile launcher located there and causing the snipers in the blast zone to be knocked back. He repeated the process several times until firing one last cannon towards the center window of the Oval Office, or rather Yellow Oval Office as the real one is not in the residence. The bulletproof window did nothing against this ammunition, and the Fire Cannon scored a direct hit. From the smoke coming from the area, and the yells and screams from inside the building, no doubt a fire was started.
"Excellent shot, Fang!" Ursula praised him. "That fire should keep them distracted and make them have to take men off the defense to save the place!" She said proudly at her work.
"But won't Dr.Z be mad if the White House burns down?" Ed asked her.
"Ah, it's nothing we can't just fix. Besides, he said do whatever it takes to secure victory!" Ursula reminded him before turning back to Fang. "And now, Fang, show them the power of Chungkingosaurus!"
"You got i-" Fang paused as he reran the sentence in his head and turned around to face his summoner. "What did you just call me?"
"What? I got your species name right, finally." Ursula responded, confused by the green theropod's tone. "Took me a whole week to get it right." She said with a small, smug smile, closed eyes, and shifting shoulders.
"That's not what I'm called. It's CARCHARODONTOSAURUS!" He roared in angry annoyance at her. "Chungkingosaurus is a completely different dinosaur! How can you get that name right, but not one of a dinosaur you actually have?!"
"Get over yourself." Bailey rolled her eyes at Fang's childish tirade before focusing on the target in front of them. "We've got a job to do."
"Fine." Fang grumbled, rolling his own eyes, before he and Bailey couched down in preparation to charge.
As for Thud, he looked up and noticed the ship above them. "Hey, Bailey?"
"Not now, Thud." She growled in annoyance, expecting a stupid question.
"But I think it's important." He tried to convince her.
He obviously failed. "That thing is called the sky, now can we focus!"
"But shouldn't we be concerned about that thingy in the sky with Spectre's emblem on it?" He gestured with his head.
"What?" Bailey asked in confusion while Fang followed the Ankylosaur's direction.
"He means we're about to have some party crashers." He said as he lifted Bailey's head up with his arm so she also saw the ship.
From behind the dinosaurs, the Alpha Gang also noticed the ship. "Great! Just when things were going our way!" Zander whined.
"Calm yourself, Zander. We might be lucky." Ursula told him in an attempt to reassure him, or more accurately to stop his whining.
The ship's covering retracted and the three pirates flew out. Or, more accurately, fell out as they were still smushed together until the covering freed them. "Ah!" Foolscap and Sheer gasped as they were pushed out, being much smaller than Gavro, who simply just flew down to their level once the two of them regained control of their wings. "That's it! Gavro, you're flying home after this!" Foolscap glared at his jacked brother.
"You can't blame me for your poor posture!" Gavro retorted.
"No, but I can-"
"Can it and let's get this battle started already!" Sheer said as he got out her first dinosaur just as The ship left as it was auto-piloted to get out of the firing range.
"LANZHOUSAURUS, TAKE 'EM DOWN!"
With a green glow, Blossom landed in front of the clone trio and roared as a Battlefield appeared.
"Grrr." Foolscap glared at Gavro, hating to have to agree with Sheer right now. "You're lucky we have a job to do." He said with venom in his voice before getting out his own card, Gavro following suit.
"COME OUT, TUOJIANGOSAURUS!"
"GOJIRASAURUS"
The two most recent dinosaurs of the D-Team joined the third most recent addition on the ground and also roared at their opponents, who roared back.
From their position, the Alpha Gang took in their opponents. "I don't remember seeing these guys." Ed commented, having not been on the mission to get Nightmare and having been defeated before seeing Blossom.
"Well, there is…." Zander stopped when he pointed at the Tuojiangosaurus. "Oh, no." He and Ed nervously turned around to see how Ursula would react.
As expected, the greenette woman was glaring at the stegosaur from their last mission. "My old enemy." She hissed harshly before she actually smirked and pulled out a small radio and turned it on. "Dr.Z, it seems your hunch was correct. They're all here." She said as she raised it to her ear.
"Of course I was right!" Dr.Z's voice came from the other side. "However, just because all those pirates are there doesn't mean you should go throwing the fight! Even if I get the stone, taking the capital is still a priority!" He reminded her. "Take out all their dinosaurs so we can start really showing the world our power!" He declared before hanging up.
"With pleasure." Ursula responded with a wicked smile, even though her boss wasn't on the line anymore, and put the radio away before addressing her teammates. "All right, boys. Time for a little fun." She said as she inputted commands into her Alpha Scanner, Zander following suit.
With a roar from Fang, followed by ones from Bailey and Thud, the three invading dinosaurs charged forward. With a signaling roar from Blossom, the defenders raced to meet them halfway. The battle for the US capital had begun.
DK
After he had hung up his call, Dr.Z smiled proudly to himself. "Well, that's one less problem to worry about." He said before taking in his surroundings, which were completely pitch-black, and frowned. "Too bad that whole 'Battlefield's light up rooms and stuff' thing isn't working here! The fuck!" He yelled to no one.
Reaching into his pocket, the doctor pulled out Pyro's card. "I guess I'll need Pyro to light things up for me." But just as he was about to swipe the card, he paused and pondered an important detail. "Wait, do I really want to let the wild, uncontrollable dinosaur, whose whole gimmick is setting things on fire, out into a small room with poor ventilation?" Even though he can be an idiot at times, it didn't take Dr.Z any time to answer that obvious question. "Yeah, not pulling the pin on that grenade."
Putting the card away, he instead simply pressed a button on his Scanner that turned on the screen and then proceeded to use it like a discount phone flashlight. "Really should've thought to bring a flashlight." He muttered to himself, seeing as it didn't light up very far and he constantly had to keep turning it back on every time the screen went dark.
DK
"Whoaa!" Both Rod and Laura screamed as they came to the end of their inconvenient ride down the vent. Since the vent obviously wasn't designed to be a way in, despite what the guard implied, they ended up coming down through the ceiling and landed on each other. "Ooof!" Rod groaned as he was the one on the bottom.
"Well, now we know what it's like to be Ursula and the others." Laura said from atop her brother before getting off and allowing him to stand.
"Don't know if that's something to be proud of." Rod commented as he dusted himself off and looked around at their pitch-black surroundings. "So, what do we do now?"
"Assuming we took the right vent down, I'd say we're in the vaults." Laura answered. "But I don't know where we're supposed to go."
"Hmmm." Rod pondered a plan before he got the same one as his former grandfather and used the Dino Scanner's screen to get some light. However, this was only the first part of the plan. Pointing it up, he looked at the ceiling and asked his sister. "Do you think that's high enough?"
"High enough for what?" She asked him as she followed the light's trail.
"High enough for me to call out Diamond so she can literally use her head to light this room up without bringing the place down on us." Her brother answered.
"Egh." Laura grimaced at the thought. Looking up, it was tricky to tell just how much headroom Diamond would have, especially when the Dino Scanner screen light went out and Rod had to set it up again. Still, she was able to give a consensus after some thought. "I guess so if she's gonna have to have her head lowered so the dome is facing ahead of us."
"Let's hope." Rod said as he pulled out the card.
"DINO SLASH! LIGHT UP, PACHYCEPHALOSAURUS!"
With a bright rainbow glow that lit up the whole corridor, Diamond appeared with a roar. Thankfully for the two siblings, their calculation was right and her head avoided contact with the ceiling and lit up the room. "OK!" The Pachycephalosaurus said with enthusiasm, pawing the floor like an excited bull about to charge. "Who am I crushing now?!"
"No crushing, Diamond." Rod told her. "We just need you to light the way so we can figure out where we are going."
Diamond frowned, as best as a dinosaur could, mind you, at that plan. "Serious? What am I; Rudolph? Can't you just use a flashlight?!" She asked the siblings annoyingly.
"Well, we didn't expect to be searching for the Cosmos Stone in a pitch-black, underground safe." Laura pointed out.
"Ugh." Diamond groaned as she rolled her eyes. "And here I thought you two were supposed to be one step ahead of everyone else." She muttered quietly so that the two kids didn't hear her. Nevertheless, she complied. "Might as well put this stupid head to some use." She thought bitterly to herself before taking the lead, Rod and Laura close behind.
DK
It all went smoothly for a while, no one really said anything as there wasn't much to talk about. At the same time, Dr.Z was continuing his search in another area. "Come on. Where is it? Where is it? Where is i-" He stopped when his Scanner went dark again and he had to turn it back on as he has been doing every few seconds. "Oh, for the love of- How is anybody supposed to steal anything from these vaults?! And, actually, what kind of vaults are these? This is like a freaking labyrinth. Haven't we dealt with enough of those?" He complained to himself while searching. The lack of company, or rather lack of someone to boss around, was taking a slow toll on him. It seemed like a good idea to find the stone himself at the time, but he was never used to doing this much fieldwork.
"Seriously, everything looks the god damn same in this god damn-" Pause to turn the light on again. But once he did, the doctor noticed something on the wall in front of him. "Wait, a button!" He quickly ran over to the object and examined it. "OK, shiny, red buttons usually are presented like this because they want someone to press it. But, in a place like this, the people they want to press it are those who are there to steal something. No doubt they know that, and this will lead to some kind of trap. So, the logical answer would be to ignore the button and just move on." In a surprise move a genius, Dr.Z ignored the temptation of the button and continued down the hall.
For about three seconds before coming back to it. "Still, better than walking around here for several more hours." He said as he pushed the button. Surprisingly, nothing happened. "What the?" He wondered as he pushed it again. Once more, nothing happened. "Come on! What kind of sick joke is this?!" The old man growled as he started rapidly pressing the button.
However, the button wasn't a dud. Instead, it was activating on the other side of the vault. The side where Rod, Laura, and Diamond were. Within the walls, gears turned and shifted. Oblivious to what was going on behind the scenes, the trio continued down the hall, Diamond continuing to light the way.
From behind, one of the wall pieces silently retracted, and out of it slowly came a device aiming itself at the trio, more specifically Diamond. Without much hesitation, it fired a small, but still painful laser at the Pachycephalosaur's shoulder. "Agh!" Diamond roared in pain from the shot.
"Diamond! What's wrong!?" Laura nearly screamed from all the chaos in just a few seconds.
"Someone shot me!" Diamond roared in pain as she looked back at the scorch mark on her shoulder.
Rod frantically started looking around for who or what fired the shot. When he located the laser, what he saw was not good. "Uh, I don't think it was someONE." He said as he tapped Laura's shoulder, who was facing Diamond in trying to help tend to the wound. His sister turned around and saw what he was seeing.
Many of those same laser guns were coming out of the wall and aiming at not just Diamond, but Rod and Laura too. "What do we do?" Laura nervously asked as she clutched her brother's arm in fear.
"Stay beneath me." Diamond said as she slowly positioned herself so she was directly above the two kids. "And RUN!" She screamed before she bolted just as the lasers started firing. It was no secret Diamond was very fast, on par with some of the fastest like Ace and Utah, but she had to slow down slightly to make sure Laura, and especially Rod, were shielded from the lasers. As a result, she was bombarded with lasers from all sides. If it wasn't for her thick skin she'd probably be dead by now, but that wouldn't last forever as she could constantly feel the stinging get worse and deeper. Soon they might break the skin and hit her organs.
Laura and Rod weren't oblivious to this. Diamond's constant roars of pain, followed by her limping, told them that she was in great pain that was growing with every shot. "What's going on?! Doesn't whoever runs this security know we're on their side?!" Rod exclaimed and he and Laura ran with hands on their heads.
"I'm guessing they have to be automatic, and there's nobody available to turn them off!" Laura responded.
"Well, we'll to turn them off ourselves then, or else they could seriously hurt Diamond or us!" Rod said.
"Hang on! I've got a plan!" Laura said as she hastily grabbed her Dino Scanner and card.
"DINO SLASH! SLICE 'EM UP, THERIZINOSAURUS!"
"Use Claw Blade on those lasers!" She commanded before Teddy even fully materialized.
The command still went through and Teddy wasted no time in activating the Super Move. His body glowed as his already large claws grew until they touched the ceiling. With one swipe from the left, every laser on that side of the wall, or at least those within range, were destroyed in small explosions. A backwards swipe from the other claw did the same to the right side.
Even with this impressive display, there were still some lasers left ahead that began firing at Teddy now. Thinking fast, the Therizinosaurus used his enlarged claws as a shield and blocked the projectiles from piercing him. "Everyone stay behind me!" He told his teammates as he prepared to charge forward.
"No, really? I thought I should go up front and get shot at while you should be the one in the back." Diamond said both bitterly and sarcastically.
Teddy winced at her tone, but kept his defenses up. "It was just a-" He tried to say before he was cut off by Diamond.
"Just go, you coward!" She practically roared at him. Not needing to be told twice, Teddy ran ahead of the group with his arms covering himself still. Once he got within range, he unfurled his arms and neutralized the rest of the weapons.
From where he was, Dr.Z stopped his button pressing when he heard the explosions from the lasers blowing up. "What the heck was that?" He wondered allowed as he went down the hall he heard the sound come from.
Back with Teddy, his claws shrank back to normal size and he panted to catch his breath. "Nice job, Teddy!" Laura congratulated him as she and the others caught up with the clawed dinosaur.
"It was nothing." Teddy waved off the praise. "I'm just glad I could help."
"Yeah, yeah. You had your time to shine. Now let's get moving! We've got a Cosmos Stone to find!" Diamond snapped as she rudely pushed herself up front.
"Diamond, you don't have to yell at him." Rod berated her for her attitude.
"Mmm-hmm!" His sister nodded in agreement, even crossing her arms with an upset look on her face.
"It's fine." Teddy told the siblings. While the Pachycephalosaur's constant rudeness to him did hurt, his pacifistic nature kept him from doing or saying much in retaliation. Perhaps he just didn't want to fight her out of fear she could severely hurt him, or maybe he just didn't want to pick a fight that was ultimately not worth it. Whatever the reason was for his choices, he at least knew Diamond's reasons. "She just doesn't want anything to go wrong."
While Rod silently nodded in slight understanding, it's not like Diamond was the only one of the D-Team's dinosaurs who got upset during missions due to stress, Laura still wasn't in agreement. "You say that like you believe she thinks you'll mess everything up!" Teddy quietly looking down with closed eyes gave her the answer. "Even after all this time, she still thinks you're not worthy of basic respect?!" Laura partially shouted.
"Hey, wimp! You done talking, or can we get a move on!?" Diamond called from ahead.
"O-oh! Coming!" Teddy hastily replied, almost submissively, as he turned around and walked after her.
Rod and Laura ran ahead and slowed to a walk when they caught up to Diamond. Looking behind herself, she noticed how Teddy kept his distance from her. This made her frown with concern. From what she has been told by others, Diamond has always disliked Teddy, maybe even hated him, from the day he first joined the D-Team. The same day he saved their grandpa, or former grandpa as far as her parents and Rod were concerned, from falling to his death. 'Traitor' Is what she called him when she first met him. There was possibly no bigger insult or shame than to be labeled that single seven-letter word.
Perhaps that was why she had taken to a friendship with him during their stay. She didn't admit it in front of her family, but she didn't know how to feel about Dr.Z. Yes, she was angry with him for everything he did with Seth from stranding them in the present to shooting Cretacia. But for whatever reason, she couldn't bring herself to hate him, unlike her brother who wanted nothing more to do with him. Teddy claims that despite everything he suffered, he still saw good in Dr.Z and considered him his father. Perhaps that was the same with her. Maybe she just didn't want to live with a grudge like Diamond was currently.
Speaking of which, the Pachycephalosaurus suddenly came to a stop as she sniffed the air. She picked up a scent she was both dreading and eagerly awaiting to come across again. Her eyes narrowed as she slowly approached where the scent was coming from, like a theropod stalking its prey.
While the two kids didn't pay much mind to this change, debatable if they even noticed, Teddy started to grow concerned with the change in her body posture. "Uh, Diamond? What's wrong?" He whispered to her. She wasn't limping from her wounds, but that didn't exactly ease his worries.
"Sssssh!" She snapped her head back and glared at him with a look that could melt skin from bone. "Be useful for once and stay out of my way. I've waiting a long time for this."
Rod immediately caught onto what she meant and gripped his Dino Scanner with anticipation. This was the moment they'd both been waiting for. Laura, just like Teddy, felt unwelcome by her brother's sudden excitement.
Back with Dr.Z, he continued walking down the hall he heard the earlier noises come from. Could it be that some guards followed him down here? No, they'd all be too busy fighting off his minions in vain. As he tiptoed, he noticed a light coming from around the corner. Immediately, concern for the noises went away as he believed he had found what he was really looking for. "Oh-ho-ho! I've hit the jackpot!" He said eagerly, jumping up and down like a little kid and he hastily ran for the light.
However, when he went around the corner, he did not find the Cosmos Stone. Instead, he found a very furious, but also pleased, looking Pachycephalosaurus. "I'm going to kill you." She told him.
"Uh-oh." Dr.Z simply said as his pupils shrank with fear.
"And then kill you again!" Diamond finished her threat with a roar.
"Aaaaaaaaah!" Dr.Z screamed like a literal girl and hightailed it back the way he came.
"You're not getting away from me!" Diamond said before charging after him.
"Diamond, no!" Teddy cried out, sticking his claw out.
"Diamond, yes!" Both she and Rod said together as the boy quickly followed after the angry Pachycephalosaurus.
"'Huh! Huh! Huh! Huh!'" Dr.Z panted heavily as he ran faster down the dark hallway than he had in probably his entire life. This was one of the reasons he never went on missions if he could help it, despite the unreliability of his minions. "Just gotta! 'Huh!' Keep! 'Huh!" Running! 'Huh!'" His lungs felt like they were on fire and his ribs were rattling like, well, rattles. He needed to stop to catch his breath. If his out-of-shape body wasn't going to kill him, then other than the bloodthirsty Pachycephalosaurus behind him it would probably be-
His train of thought was cut off when he slammed his face into a wall directly in his path. "Ooooh." The doctor groaned as he stumbled away from the impact. "Brrrrrbbbbb!" He shook his head to reorganize himself, but it was too late.
Two stomps came from behind him. Nervously turning in that direction, Dr.Z could see Diamond looking at him with a look that said either if she was happy or mad that he would get no mercy. "Nowhere left to run." She said almost gleefully.
Dr.Z looked around frantically for an escape. "Uh! Uh! Uh! Uh!" Not finding anything that could help, he tried to reason with his 'child' as she slowly approached him, forcing his back against the wall. "N-now my baby-"
"Boy? Was that what you were going to say?" Diamond practically dared him to answer. "Because for someone who raised me since I was an egg they stole from real parents, you not being able to tell I was a girl just speaks about your 'parenting'." She leaned closer until her snot practically touched him.
"W-well, how was I supposed to know? I wasn't going to violate your privates just to get an idea of your gender. It's your own fault for not speaking to me. I would have easily been able to tell you were a girl by your voice." Dr.Z retorted, crossing his arms as he felt he got her on that one.
He actually just made things worse. "Maybe I wasn't talking to you because you EXPERIMENTED ON ME AS A BABY!" Diamond screamed so loud she shook the entire hall. "I don't even want to know what could have even possessed you to think that was even remotely an acceptable idea. Do you know what it's like living with this head!?" She gestured to her glowing spot. "Never mind the constant migraines I've had for the rest of my childhood, it was almost impossible to sleep at night as my head's glow was like my own personal nightlight that I never asked for! Even now I still have problems with it when it comes to sleeping. It's gotten to the point that the only thing keeping me from being mocked is the fact the rest of the herd knows I will kick their asses if they even think about making a bald joke!"
Once again, Dr.Z found something he might be able to convince her that he had good intentions. "S-s-see! It's thanks to me you have that power! I made you strong! I made you mighty!" He said with clenched fists.
"And now that might is going to be used to wipe you off the face of the Earth forever." Diamond said, basically sealing the old doctor's fate.
Looking down at her legs, Dr.Z noticed Rod standing there with a hand on his hip, his Scanner in the other, looking pleased at the situation. "Et tu, Rod?" He said weakly to his grandson, hoping he wouldn't betray his own family.
Rod just frowned and looked at this former grandfather with disgust. "Sorry, Doctor. But you've ruined one too many lives." He said coldly
Realizing that he now had no way of escape, Dr.Z swallowed a large gulp and he closed his eyes and looked away from the end. Diamond roared loudly as she readied her head to bash the Alpha Gang leader into smithereens. "Goodbye, 'Daddy!'" She said almost mockingly.
But just as she moved in for the kill, something slammed into her from the side that made her miss her intended target and instead slam into the side wall. "Huh?" Dr.Z opened his eyes and saw who his savior was.
"What?!" Rod gasped when he saw who it was.
Standing up, Diamond looked in the direction of who tackled her and looked furiously at Teddy. "I knew it!" She hissed.
"Diamond, stop this!" Teddy tried to plead with her.
"Shut your damn mouth, TRAITOR!" Diamond roared back at him.
"I'm not a traitor! I'm only stopping you from doing something you'd regret!" The Therizinosaurus tried to defend himself verbally, having his claws ready for when he inevitably had to do it physically too.
"The only thing I regret is that I didn't kill you when you first snuck into our herd!" Diamond screamed as she charged at him. Using his large claws, Teddy was able to block each of her head strikes.
"Diamond, stop it! We can deal with him later! We need to deal with Dr.Z!" Rod tried to get his partner to stop, but she either ignored him or didn't hear him in her blind rage. Hearing footsteps behind him, he saw Laura finally catch up to them. "Laura, Teddy's gone crazy! Call him back so we can finish our mission!"
But Laura did nothing and instead said. "No, Rod. I'm not doing that." She told him firmly.
Rod looked at her like she had just morphed into a completely different person. "What?! Are you crazy?!"
"I agree with Teddy! I can't let you kill Grandpa!" She basically cried at him.
That last would almost made her brother's heart skip a beat. "What did you call him?!"
"You heard me loud and clear!" The younger pinkette said, tears now coming out of her eyes.
As both sibling pairs fought amongst themselves, Dr.Z took this moment as a chance to escape. "Better they destroy each other than destroy me." He thought as he crept along the wall. However, suddenly his hand sank into part of the wall, almost like he had pushed a button. "That doesn't look good." He said aloud, not that the others in the area heard him.
Instead, they got the first-hand experience as the floor beneath them opened up to reveal a trap door. They barely had any time to react to the moving floor as they were so focused on each other that it wasn't until they fell in that they realized what had happened. "Aaaaaaah!" All four screamed at once.
Once the screams faded into nothing, Dr.Z looked down the hole. "Huh." He simply said as the floor covered it up. "Well, that happened." But that simplicity soon was replaced with joy as he had just escaped death's door and couldn't help but celebrate with a small song and dance. "Oh, no, not I! I will survive! Oh, as long as I know to love I know I'll stay alive! I've got all my life to live! I've got all my love to give! And I'll survive! I will survi-aaaayyyeeee!" The victory dance was cut short as reason number two of why he doesn't go on missions kicked in; his back still was weak.
But as he tried to fix it, to barely any avail, a voice came in through his radio. "Doctor, come in." Seth said from the other side.
Unable to move most of his body, Dr.Z struggled but eventually was able to grab the device from his pocket and hold it up to his ear. "Well look who's finally remembered they were a part of this mission, too!" He snapped with grit teeth.
"Forgive me, Doctor. But hacking into the Government's data files and locating the Cosmos Stone was not an easy task." Seth explained as he continued to type into his computer.
"What, were there too many passwords to choose from?" The old man said jokingly.
Seth said nothing for a while and just glared at the radio. "That's not what I'm here to talk about." He told Dr.Z. "I've been able to get a more precise location of the Cosmos Stone."
"You did?!" Dr.Z exclaimed before eagerly asking. "Where?!"
"I can't say exactly where, but it should be in the level below you." Seth answered.
"Wait, what do you mean by 'level below me'?" The doctor asked, already afraid of the answer.
"There's another level of that vault used to store more objects that even most Government Officials don't know about." Seth confirmed Dr.Z's fears.
"That's...wonderful news." Dr.Z forced himself to say with an equally forced smile. "Thank you for your help, Seth." He said before hanging up and placing the radio away. After that struggle, he did what any man would do in his situation and started crying. "BWAHHAHAHA! It's not fair! WHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYY?!"
But as all hope seemed lost for the old doctor, an idea suddenly popped into his head. An idea so genius it unstiffened his back. "Wait, that pit has to end somewhere." He said to himself as he looked down at the floor.
Down below in the pit: Rod, Laura, Teddy, and Diamond all landed at the bottom. Thankfully, the dinosaurs landed first. "Oooof!"
"Ooooh." Teddy groaned as he lifted his head up. The room they found themselves in was a dark as everywhere else, only having light thanks to Diamond's head. "Where are we?" He asked anyone.
From atop him, Laura sat up and looked around. "I think this must be some kind of holding cell from thieves."
"Errrrgh." Diamond growled as she stood up. "NO!" She screamed as she ran to the nearest wall and bashed her head against it. Unfortunately, this cell was surrounded by strong steel that not even a headbutt from a Pachycephalosaurus. "No! No! No!" She screamed with every hit to the point she started crying. She was so close, so close to her revenge. And now, because of that backstabber, she may never get it.
Speaking of him, Teddy slowly walked over to Diamond and reached out a claw. "Diamond, let me help you." He quietly requested.
She didn't respond at first, making Teddy think he'd have to speak up and try again. But he was then greeted by a slap to the face from the Pachycephalosaur's tail. "You've done enough." She said with hatred, and also disappointment.
Seeing that exchange, Laura turned to his brother to see what he was thinking. But she found him standing away from her, back turned and arms crossed.

The battle for the White House continued to rage on. Neither side was giving the other the edge. Nightmare ran across the lawn, hissing at Bailey, who was running beside her and snarling back. The Baryonyx moved towards Nightmare like a race car cutting off its opponent and proceeded to swipe her elongated claw at the Gojirasaurus. Nightmare responded to this by backflipping out of harm's way. Immediately after landing, she launched herself forward and hit Bailey with her head. This attack knocked the Clone Baryonyx down before she slowly got back up and roared angrily at her enemy. "You'll pay for that!" She vowed.
"I'd like to see you try." Nightmare calmly responded.
"Oh, we'll do more than try." Zander said as he got out a Water Move Card. "We'll succeed in taking you down! Shockwave!" He announced as she swiped the card. A whirlpool appeared around Bailey. Looking wickedly at her target, the spinosaurid roared as the tendrils were sent straight for Nightmare.
"Then we'll just counter with Defense Burst." Gavro said as he placed the Move Card on his chest plate.
A white glow surrounded Nightmare as she spread her arms out just as the attack hit. But instead of damaging her, or engulfing her in her own whirlpool, it formed into a ball of energy that she sent back to her opponent with the bash of her head. "Whoa!" Bailey exclaimed as the energy ball sped for her and she quickly moved out of the way to dodge the attack.
"What?!" Nightmare was surprised at her enemy being able to dodge that fast of an attack.
What surprised her even more was when Bailey took advantage of that surprise and got in close for a sneak attack. "That was a dirty trick." She told the Triassic theropod as she bit onto her neck and dragged her to the ground. "I'd be more upset if I didn't do the same thing all the time."
"Let go of me!" Nightmare snarled, which was not easy to do when your throat was being held, before she used her powerful legs to kick and scratch Bailey's chest. However, the Baryonyx held strong.
"You're sneakiness might work on other dinosaurs. But Bailey's training has made her much more swift and agile that she can counter any of your pathetic attacks." Zander bragged while pushing up his sunglasses before he grinned and got out another Move Card. "And she can still hit you like a truck. As demonstrated with this Water Sword!"
Still holding onto Nightmare, Bailey glowed blue as the Move activated. Despite desperate attempts to break free, Nightmare was helpless as the Water Sword came out of Bailey's mouth, forcefully pushing the Gojirasaurus across the yard. To make sure that her opponent was down, Bailey slashed her with the sword. Despite all of this, Nightmare still held on, but barely. "Come on, Nightmare! You can beat her!" Gavro encouraged.
"No, she can't!" Both Zander and Bailey bragged as Bailey shut off the Water Sword. But when she looked back at where her victim was supposed to be, she saw nothing. "What the hell?" She wondered as she looked around for her opponent. She expected her to be limping only inches away from where she stood but saw nothing.
What she didn't expect was for Nightmare to leap onto her back and start biting on her neck. "Yes, I can!" She told Bailey as the Baryonyx tried to through her off like a ragged bull at a rodeo.
At the same time, Foolscap and Ed decided to both use a Move Card to get the upper hand in their fight, which right now saw Crystal and Thud in a headlock with Thud only slightly having the advantage. "Quake Saber!" The two men yelled simultaneously as they swiped their cards
With both Earth Element dinosaurs still in their headlock, their tails began to glow as purple crystals appeared before they both expanded into Quake Sabers. Backing up so they would be able to see each other more clearly, the two of them swung their tails at each other.
The two Quake Sabers make contact with each other and bounced off each other, creating small sparks on impact. Seeing that didn't work, the two wielders tried again, only to meet the same result. Trying to slice the other repeatedly with their Quake Sabers made the two thyreophorans engage in a very familiar kind of battle. One that Thud clearly caught onto and couldn't help but mimic. "Phewmmm! Phewmm! Phewmm! Phewmm!" He said every time they made contact.
"What are you doing?" Crystal asked, making sure to keep her eyes focused on the Ankylosaur's tail.
"I'm making sound effects." Thud responded.
This only made Crystal more confused. "Why?"
"Because it's like we're having a Light Saber duel. Haven't you ever seen Star Wars?" The Ankylosaurus Clone asked her.
The Tuojiangosaurus just shook her head, now only slightly less confused. "I've only been here for about a week. I don't know what the heck a Star Wars is." She explained while continuing to try and slice Thud, with unfortunately little success.
"Oh, you've been missing out!" Thud told her as he countered all of Crystal's advances.
Also at the same time as that battle, Blossom and Fang were also duking it out. The Lanzhousaurus put her years of training to good use as she repeatedly hit Fang's face with her tail when he tried to go in and bite her. Of course, she couldn't help but mock the green carnivore's predicament. "Why're you hitting yourself?! Why're you hitting yourself?! Why're you hitting yourself?!" She laughed as she continued her attack.
"Oww! You're the one hitting me!" Fang snarled as he was unable to back away from the tail assault since she was hitting him too fast to dodge.
He finally got some relief when it seemed Blossom got bored and backed away to try a different approach. Fang tensed up and was prepared for her to attack head-on. What he failed to expect was for the iguanodont to dash behind him. "On the contrary, you've brought this upon yourself challenging me." She said as she lowered her head before charging straight forward and headbutting the Carcharodontosaur's rear.
"Ah!" Fang hissed as he fell onto his stomach, that attack being very close to his gonads. "Did you have to hit there or all places?!" He snarled as she turned his head around to look at his enemy.
"If you thought that was painful then you'll feel even more once you taste Power Drain!" Sheer said as she placed the Move Card on her choker.
Just as Blossom started to glow green, Ursula counter-attacked with her own Move Card. "I think you'll be the one feeling the pain once you get some Magma Blaster!"
Since her Move Card was swiped first, Blossom finished preparing her attack before Fang and began to zap his energy away. But to both her and Sheer's surprise, he held on, barely deterred by the Power Drain, and began gathering the magma in his mouth. "If you want my power so badly, then you can have it!" With the stomp of a foot, he fired straight towards the Lanzhousaurus.
"Whoa!" Blossom barely had time to stop her draining and dodge. "Agh!" She hissed as a result of the attack grazing her left flank. Having leapt out of the way, the ornithopod fell to the ground when her escape was cut off by the magma column. This gave Fang the opportunity he needed to get his revenge.
Slowly walking over to the downed Blossom for dramatic effect, he grabbed her torso in his shark-like jaws and began biting down. "What was it you said earlier?" He mockingly asked before he bit down. "Oh, right! Why're you hitting yourself?! Why're you hitting yourself?! Why're you hitting yourself?! Ahahahaha!" He laughed as he also began to shake her around for more damage. After a while, the Carcharodontosaurus Clone decided he had enough, he was supposed to keep her alive for his master after all, and simply tossed her away like trash.
Landing hard on the ground, Blossom struggled to, but eventually made it onto her feet. At the same time, Crystal and Nightmare rendezvoused with her as the Tuojiangosaurus backed up after her Move Card deactivated and the Gojirasaurus made a safe landing after Bailey threw her off her back. "Tch." Sheer frowned at their current situation.
"This isn't looking good." Gavro said as he and Foolscap flew over to Sheer.
"I hate to say it, but Gavro's right. Those three are not like how they were before." Foolscap said as the three clones stood proudly while their own dinosaurs were all panting heavily. "I'm guessing they did some severe practicing since their last mission."
"At the rate this battle is going, our own dinosaurs will be defeated without a doubt." Sheer said grimly.
"So what's the plan then?" Foolscap asked before pointing out. "If we retreat, then they'll take the White House and who knows what'll happen."
"We're not going to retreat!" Sheer snapped at Foolscap for even suggesting the idea, making him since at her glare and tone.
"S-sorry." He quickly apologized.
Sheer didn't reply and instead shifty her gaze to the battlefield. "Best course of action would be to end this battle and start the next one." She said as she recalled Blossom.
"Would be more merciful to our dinos." Gavro agreed as he did the same to Nightmare.
"I hope this works." Foolscap relented as he followed suit with Crystal.
From their side of the battlefield, the Alpha Gang couldn't believe what they were seeing. "Did they just recall their dinosaurs?" Zander asked with disbelief he actually raised his sunglasses to confirm what he just saw.
"I think they did." Ed said with similar shock.
Ursula was also shocked but quickly got over it. They still had a job to do. "Perfect." She said with a wicked smile before thrusting her hand forward in a commanding position. "Fang, Bailey, Thud! Now's our chance! Attack the White House with everything you got!"
Eagerly, the trio of clone dinosaurs roared and charged forward, expecting no more resistance. But they were fools in thinking that this was an act of surrender from the Space Pirates as each grabbed a secondary dinosaur card and placed those on their summoners.
"DICERATOPS!"
"DELTADROMEUS!"
"SHANTUNGOSAURUS!"
Summoned by Sheer, Gavro, and Foolscap respectively: Angel, Delta, and Confucius now appeared in the place of the previous dinosaurs. This took the Alpha Gang by surprise while their dinosaurs skidded to a halt. "Ooooh, whawha?!" Ed exclaimed.
"What kind of cheating this is?!" Ursula demanded to know with fists close to her face and clenched in anger. "You can't just switch dinosaurs in the middle of a fight!"
"Well, technically it isn't a bad strategy." Zander pointed out. "Besides, we normally fight the brat's six dinosaurs at once, so this isn't anything new." He added before a thought occurred to him. "Speaking of which, I wonder why they didn't show up?"
"Maybe they were busy with other things." Ed guessed.
"What could be more important than saving the White House?" Zander asked.

"Ugh!" Rex groaned as he rubbed a hand slowly down his face as he had been making barely any progress with an argument between Sweet Tooth and Sushi. "For the last time, I don't care who took the last cookie from the cookie jar!"

"I don't care if it's racist, I'll say that if I want to! I'm one of the Dinosaur Kings!" Zoe yelled into her headset as she continued her gaming. The player from the other side asked a question regarding that statement, which only made the pinkette angrier. "Yes, I am a girl! But calling me Dinosaur Queen sounds like I only got the position because of my boyfriend. So that's why I'm called Dinosaur King Zoe, you got that?!" She pulled off her headset and screamed into the mike. Little did she know that within a few minutes, she'll find herself suspended from online play for her behavior.

As for Max, he was currently taking a nap in his room. Chomp was currently sleeping on his head while Terry just watched and shook his head. "There are tons of things he needs to do, and he chooses to nap. I don't think I've ever seen procrastination this bad."
You'd be surprised, Terry.

Ursula barely resisted to urge to bash Zander's head in like she normally does for Ed and took a deep breath to regain her composure. "Never mind that. The good guys never play fair, anyway. Besides, our dinosaurs still have loads of energy left, so we can easily take these new dinos down without any problem." She said as battle resumed.

Back down in the vault, things were looking bleak. "ErrrrrAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" Diamond yelled as she charged at the wall for the umpteenth time. And just like all the other times, she didn't make so much as a dent. Whoever made these walls had designed them to be strong enough to hold back dinosaurs. But that didn't deter the enraged herbivore as she charged for the wall again. "EEEEEEYAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" Only to meet the same, pitiful result.
Not too far away, Teddy just watched sadly as Diamond tried again and again to break down the wall to no avail. Not far from him, Rod also watched with a look of pain. Not from physical pain, but emotional from what his sister did. Laura had tried multiple times to talk to him, but he always just got up and sat down somewhere else whenever she approached him. However, the young pinkette wasn't going to do nothing. She knew she needed to talk to her brother if they were ever going to get out of there and get the Cosmos Stone before their grandpa did.
She tried again and sat next to her brother. Surprisingly, this time he didn't get up and move somewhere else. This was a good sign. "Hopefully this means he's ready to talk." Laura thought as she said what she had practiced in her head during their little 'chase'. "I just hope this works." She said with her eyes slammed shut as she finally spoke.
"I'm mad at Grandpa, too." She told her brother. Rod said nothing, only barely moving his eye to look at her. Laura sighed and continued. "I know what happened earlier makes it seem like I'm not, but I am. After hearing about all the horrible things he has done to not only Rex and his parents, but to our own family, it's hard to not have a massive grudge."
After what seemed like hours of silence, besides Diamond's bashing and screaming, Rod finally spoke. "Then why don't you?" He asked her. He still wasn't looking at her, but his tone was less cold and more confused.
Now this time it was Laura who said nothing as she just looked over at Diamond, prompting Rod to follow her gaze. "Maybe it's because I'm younger and more naive, but I still remember the good times we've had with him. How he genuinely seemed to care about us and our parents. How we all used to be a happy family." She looked down at the pleasant memories, a sad smile on her face. "I remember when Grandpa would take us to the museum, showing off all the different dinosaur fossils, and then take us out for ice cream afterwards. I remember how he always brought tons of gifts for us every Christmas, always having a big smile on his face as he even dressed like Santa, and would then take us out to see all the decorations." Tears started to run down her cheeks. "Sometimes….I just wish things can go back to the way they used to be." She couldn't take it anymore and started to lightly sob. Rod couldn't stay completely mad at her after hearing that. He too remembered the good times they had with their former- no, just grandfather. It was thanks to his teachings he was accepted into various programs at such a young age. He remembered the proud look in his eyes when he told him the news, and the warm hug to at followed. Breaking his sternness, Rod embraced his sister, wiping the tears from her cheeks.
Diamond heard their conversation and temporarily stopped her bashing at the wall to give her two cents. "It doesn't matter anymore." She said, still sounding defiant despite the siblings' current mood. "Whether if he was good back then doesn't change the fact that he's nothing but a pure evil man now that must be destroyed!" She stomped her foot for emphasis.
"That's why I had to stop you." Teddy finally spoke up.
Diamond turned around and looked at him with utter confusion. "What?"
Teddy lifted his head off the floor, stood back up, and began his story. "When I was first released I was just like you when it came to Dr.Z. I wanted nothing to do with him. I went on a rampage and attacked everything, similar to what you did." He said as he recalled seeing all the destruction he caused from reports.
Diamond was about to retort that she didn't go on a rampage, but held her tongue when she realized she was still overly aggressive that day, smashing anything with a reflection and attacking every dinosaur she came across.
Seeing that she wasn't going to speak up, Teddy continued his story. "Everything escalated once he started following me on a blimp. No matter what I did, he kept on following. I thought he was going to capture me again and use me for more experiments. But then something happened that changed everything."
This perked Diamond's attention. She knew very little about what happened that day, besides that Teddy saved Dr.Z from falling to his death. "What happened?" She asked with genuine curiosity.
Teddy looked up at the ceiling they came down from earlier. "You can thank the Kings for this, but they managed to get the doctor to realize something he unfortunately hadn't with you. He realized just how cruel he was to me, and I can only assume all of his dinosaur children." He explained as he recalled one memory in particular from that day.
"I'm sorry- I just wanted you to grow up to be strong." Dr.Z was starting to tear up as he also remembered how the Therizinosaurus struggled and cried in his restraints when he combined his card with a Move Card, all while he smiled wickedly. He whimpered at the realization. "I thought I was showing you tough love!" He cried with streams of tears coming out of his eyes. This outburst only made the Therizinosaurus back away in horror as he thought Dr.Z was yelling at him again.
"I'll admit I didn't realize it immediately, but as he continued to follow me I realized something. Yes, he was horrible to you, me, Grumpy, and the Deinonychus. But I could also tell that deep down he genuinely cared and wanted to make it up to us for his cruelty. Whether if he would actually have, I must confess I have doubts to this day. However, when I last saw him, I didn't see the evil scientist everyone else has. I saw someone who was a good man, but had greatly lost his way."
Diamond listened carefully to every word Teddy spoke. Despite all their time together, she never bothered to ask the Therizinosaurus why he did what he did that day. True, she did demand an answer from him when they first met again at the lab, but ignoring the fact that she definitely wasn't actually listening at that moment, that wasn't genuinely asking, just more anger and an excuse to attack him.
Still, one thing he said was nagging at her. "Even if he is as good as you say he is, why did you stop me earlier? Why did you say you would stop me if I attacked him for 'no good reason?'" She asked Teddy.
The herbivorous theropod shifted his gaze down to his massive claws, which he held out in front of himself. "Besides me believing that he should be put in rehab instead of killed, I did it more for your own sake."
If Diamond wasn't confused before, she definitely was now. "My own sake?!" She repeated with utter bewilderment. "How could stopping me from killing him help me more than help him?!"
"What would have happened if you did take his life?" Teddy asked her. "Would you truly feel satisfied? Or would you perhaps have realized you made a mistake and regret that decision for the rest of your life, wishing there was a way to undo it? Even worse, you might not be satisfied and start going mad with rage. Attacking and destroying everything and everyone, the only option left would be to put you down. And I couldn't live with myself if either of those happened to you." He explained, the dreadful thoughts making him near tears.
"Why?" Diamond asked.
Teddy paused, unsure if he should say it, but ultimately decided he should. "Because we're family, Diamond. You, me, Grumpy, Denno, Danno, Sue. We might not have all loved him, but we were all hatched and raised by Dr.Z. In whatever way, he is our father, and that, in turn, makes us siblings. And no brother should allow his sister to go through that kind of suffering."
Diamond's heart skipped a beat when she heard that. After everything she did to him, how awfully she's been treating him. "Oh, Seikatsu." She just realized. "I've become just like Dr.Z!" But despite all of that, Teddy still saw her as family and wanted to protect her.
If that wasn't enough to make her tear up, it was when Teddy gently wrapped an arm around the Pachycephalosaurus and pulled her in for a hug. Diamond, uncharacteristically, accepted the embrace and nuzzled him in return.
Now that both pairs of siblings had forgiven each other and saw eye-to-eye, one matter still remained. "Now, how are we supposed to get out of here?" Rod asked as he reluctantly broke the hug between him and Laura.
"I could try using my Laser Ray." Diamond suggested as she and Teddy also pulled away. "But with how wide it is, I don't know if that would be enough to tear down the wall."
Teddy pondered this information before an idea came into his head. "Maybe it could work in a Fusion Move?" He suggested.
Diamond looked up at her brother with a look of interest. "What kind of Fusion Move are you thinking?"
He quickly gave her his answer and a few minutes later, the walls of the cell gave way as Teddy slashed through them with spinning claws. "It worked!" Laura beamed as she and Rod quickly ran out.
"Yeah, but how are we supposed to find the Cosmos Stone in all of this?" Diamond asked as she stepped out, gesturing to the massive halls ahead of them.
"We can't." Rod told her. "At least, not right now. We should focus on finding Grandpa and making sure he and the rest of the Alpha Gang are out of D.C! With them gone, it'll be easier to locate the stone! I doubt any of them found it while we were trapped." He explained his plan.
"Sounds good, but how can we get out?" Teddy asked. "We only got here through a trap door. It could take forever to find another way out."
"Not quite." Laura said. "Teddy, do you think you can climb out, clearing a path with your Claw Blade?"
The Therizinosaurus looked up at the ceiling. "I scaled a glass building before. I think I could do it. But what about Diamond?" He knew Rod and Laura could easily ride on him, but could his sister.
The Pachycephalosaurus responded not with words, but by gently leaping onto his back, arms over his shoulders. "Just don't climb too fast." She jokingly warned him as Rod and Laura climbed onto her legs.
With the knowledge of his teammate's safety and trust in him, Teddy immediately went to work. "Claw Blade!" He called out as his claws once again grew into enormous sizes. Now came the question, would they be sharp enough to carve a hole up the vault. "Here goes nothing!" He told everyone holding on as he swiped the ceiling. The others braced themselves as rubble and debris fell, thankfully not towards them as Teddy shoved it away.
"It worked!" Laura cheered.
"Get us out of here, Bro!" Diamond enthusiastically chimed in.
"No problem!" Teddy said as he began to grab onto the walls of the hole he made and continued on digging until they made it to the first floor. Then it became a matter of retracing their steps as they went back the way they came, deciding not to dig out completely have leave a massive hole leading into the vaults.
When the four of them got to the vent Rod and Laura fell down to get in, that's when they hit a slight problem. And by slight, I mean solved quickly with Diamond ramming her head into a wall, revealing a hidden stairway. "To be honest, I didn't expect that to work." She said proudly as she and Teddy let the kids onto their backs and they ran up the stairs.
"Let's go!" Rod exclaimed, gently tapping Diamond with his legs as a signal to move.
"Freedom, ho!" Laura cheered as she did something similar with Teddy.
The Secret Dinosaur siblings both roared like horses rearing up and neighing before they dashed up the stairs. Not even ten seconds later and they emerged on the other side. "We did it!" Teddy cheered.
"Finally some sunlight!" Diamond sighed in relief at no longer being the flashlight.
"Now's not the time to celebrate, you two." Rod reminded them.
"Rod's right, we've got to go help the others!" Laura added.
But they couldn't even take a step forward before there was an explosion directly in front of them. And out of the flames appeared a familiar, and unwelcome face. "Hey, kids, wanna see a dead body?!" Pyro spooked them.
"Aaaah!" Everyone literally jumped back at the sudden appearance of the Alpha Dinosaur.
It only got worse when Dr.Z appeared next to him. "Hi! What's up, guys?!" He shouted at them before getting straight to the point. "Now gimme me it!" He demanded with a stretched-out hand.
"T-the what?" Teddy asked, still slightly spoked, even with Laura gently rubbing his neck to calm him down.
"Well, your loyalty to me again would be nice." Dr.Z said with an evil smile before he got serious again. "But how about we start with that Cosmos Stone I know you have!"
"What makes you think we have it?" Diamond retorted the question back at the doctor.
"Hmmhmm!" Dr.Z softly chuckled before explaining. "I know it was located on the floor you brats fell into. And since I knew you'd escape somehow, I figured you'd grab the stone while you're at it. Then it just became a simple waiting game for my prey to emerge."
"We'll, joke's on you, old man. We don't have it." Diamond smugly retorted.
"What?!" The doctor shrieked with eyes widened.
Pyro, however, remained unfazed. "Oh, I get it. You were scared that even if you did get the stone that we'd still take over the capital." He said before chuckling to himself. "Hehehe. Clever kids you are."
"Who are you calling kids?" Diamond retorted. "If anything, you're the kid here since you've only been alive for little over a year."
"Still more mature than you are." Pyro waved off the potential insult. Even if it was technically true, why did he care?
Diamond was about to retort, but Rod put his hand on her to let her know to stand down. "He's just trying to bait you into attacking him blindly. Don't fall for it." He whispered into her ear. The Pachycephalosaurus looked back at him and nodded with a grunt.
"Honestly, I expected more from both of you." Dr.Z spoke up to the pair of Secret Dinosaurs. "While my niece and nephew betraying me is one thing, I would've thought you'd stay with me after all I've given you."
"If you think I'm grateful for this power, then-" Diamond's comment/threat was cut off by a laugh from Dr.Z, only confusing her. "Huh?"
"Ehahahahaha! No, you thick-headed moron. I'm not talking about your power. I'm talking about basically giving you a life to live." He explained.
It was then Teddy who decided to speak up, something that was always nagging him that he never admitted. Hopefully, this would confirm or deny a theory he had. "What do you mean?" He asked cautiously.
Dr.Z folded his arms, closed his eyes for dramatic effect, and explained his backstory. "Earlier you claimed I 'kidnapped you from your parents'. What kind of heartless monster do you take me for?" He asked, feigning hurt by clutching his heart dramatically. "All of my Secret Dinosaur children I found as eggs, alone and/or abandoned for whatever reason by their parents. It took it upon myself to raise you two and the other four from hatchlings to adults." As the old man told the story, he recalled each experience in finding the eggs: from shining a lamp on one egg when he found it in a cave to struggling to carry all the Deinonychus eggs at once.
Diamond's eyes widened at this information. "W-what?" All this time she thought he stole her from her birth parents. This has to be a lie.
"So, you see, without me you'd never even be alive." Dr.Z finished before noticing the shocked expressions and smirked. "Don't believe me? Ask Spectre, or even Seikatsu. I'm sure your goddess played a part in helping me locate your eggs."
Diamond actually took a step back in shock. The way he seemed so calm about this and dared them to prove him wrong basically sealed the deal for her. He was telling the truth. He didn't steal her egg. If anything, he saved her.
Teddy, never taking his eyes off his opponents, slowly nodded. "I had a feeling as such."
"Exactly." Dr.Z nodded. "Now be a good boy, throw that brat off your back, and come home with me so that-"
"Make no mistake, Father." The Therizinosaurus said as he lowered his head so Laura could hop off. "I may not hold the same grudge against you that the rest of my siblings do, and I also may hate fighting, but that doesn't mean I will sit idly by while you continue to threaten others." He flared his claws, showing he wasn't going to back down from the fight.
Dr.Z could only sigh in disappointment. "And here I was hoping you'd see reason."
That was the cue for Pyro to go in for the attack. The Acrocanthosaurus roared as he charged forward. Teddy got into a fighting stance and readied his claws. The sail on the carcharodontosaurid's back began to light up and he unleashed a Fire Blaster upon Teddy.

Back at the vault entrance, the battle between the 39 Thieves and the hadrosaurs was still in a standstill. The dinosaurs' bodies were bloodied by the scrapes of bullets. By all accounts, they should have been killed. However, Seth was clear to Zayid and his men that all dinosaurs are to be taken alive, and they were not going to try and test his generosity so they avoided all the vitals. This didn't mean that Mia and the Saurolophus were just being meat shields. The terrorists had to be careful anytime the hadrosaurs lunged at them and tried to crush them underneath their forelegs. These attacks also allowed guards who stayed behind to briefly fire upon their attackers before retreating.
It was all about what would happen first; would the hadrosaurs fall victim to their wounds, or would the Thieves run out of bullets? And at the rate the battle was going it seemed more like it would be the former outcome. "I don't think we can hold on much longer!" Romeo said with pain as he struggled to keep his standing.
"We can't give up, dear! The others are counting on us!" Juliet hissed in reply. She didn't want to admit it, but she was also dangerously nearing her limit.
Mia was also not faring much better, but she kept quiet about it. The last thing they needed was no morale. If they got carded here, well…it was not something she wanted to know what came next. Thankfully, she did have one last ace up her sleeve. "Romeo, Juliet!" She called out to her allies. "I have a plan! Be ready to attack when I give the signal!"
While she didn't give the details, the Saurolophus already figured out what she was referring to; her Diving Press Move Card. Unfortunately, Zayid was able to hear this through the gunfire. However, instead of panicking or telling his men to counterattack, he simply smirked. "I wouldn't try anything if I were you." He warned the Maiasaura before signaling one of his men to come over to him.
Before Mia could demand to know what they were talking about, she heard a very familiar wailing coming from the mystery man's arms. Her pupils shrunk, and her blood froze, as she realized the man had Shep in his arms. "SHEP!" She cried out in complete horror.
"M-Mama!" The baby cried out to his mother. Not his first words, but currently the only one who could say.
Romeo and Juliet saw what was going on and stared with shock while Mia now started hyperventilating. "How is he here? He's supposed to be safe in the card while I fight?!" Were the thoughts ringing through her head.
But things only got worse when Zayid lifted his sword and held it up to the baby Maiasaura. "I think you should be able to tell what this means." He said with an evil smile. "If you want your baby back alive-"
But Mia wasn't listening. Instead, she started taking deep, heavy breaths as her vision began to change. Change to that of blood red. The two Saurolophus saw her morphing of mindset and quickly backed away. "Now you've done it." Juliet said to the thieves.
However, none of them were paying attention as they believed they had won and just looked at the, what they thought to be frozen with fear Mia, as Zayid finished listing his demands. "So, we got a deal?" He asked the mother hadrosaur, inching the sword closer to the baby as it struggled.
Mia didn't respond. Instead, she just pawed the ground and shook her head like s furious bull before she charged forward at near blinding speed. She went straight for the man holding her kid and used her head to hit him with all her force. The man dropped Shep and was sent flying until he crashed into the back wall. When his allies turned around to see how badly he was hurt, they saw instead a large, bloody stain where the man should be.
Any confidence they had at the moment left faster than the captor hit the wall. They didn't have the dinosaurs trapped anymore. Now they were trapped with them. And from the look Mia was giving Zayid in particular, she was ready to make another mess. "Run away!" Zayid called out to his men.
"Run away! Run away! Run away!" The men dropped their weapons, minus Zayid who sheathed his sword, and ran up the stairs, past the hadrosaurs as fast as their legs could carry them.
Juliet and Romeo emerged from the hole shortly after with Mia quickly following with Shep in her mouth. The Maiasaura mother put her baby down on the grass and nuzzled him gently. "Are you all right, my baby?! Did they hurt you?!" She frantically asked, her rage now back to panic.
The baby Maiasaura simply responded by placing his forelegs on her snout and nuzzling it. "It seems he's fine." Juliet told her.
"Oh, thank Seikatsu." Mia nearly cried with relief.
Seeing the Maiasauras were happily reunited, Romeo turned to his mate, who was the least damaged of them. "Juliet, dear, you go and help the others. I'll stay here and comfort Mia while looking after Shep." He told her.
The orange Saurolophus nodded and gave him a quick nuzzle. "I promise I'll be back soon." She said before she took off towards the White House, leaving the others back to recover.

Speaking of the White House, the battle there was also reaching its climax. Thud kept constantly swinging his tail towards Delta, but the blue theropod dodged every swing with ease. "Errr!" Thud groaned with frustration as a Move Card was activated. "Spike Arrows!" He called out as thagomizer shaped spikes fired from his tail towards the Deltadromeus.
Delta, who had his eyes closed at that exact moment, just calmly exhaled before bending his back and dodging the attack Matrix style, including the arm movements. Of course, he knew even someone as dumb as Thud wouldn't concentrate all his fire at one spot and then proceeded to curl up into a ball and roll out of the way like a somersault as arrows struck where he previously stood. "You're not supposed to dodge!" Ed yelled at his intended target as Thud ran out of arrows to fire. "Dodging is out!"
Delta uncurled himself and then proceeded to leap onto Thud's back. "It's called survival of the fittest!" He responded as he jumped with every word. When he finished that remark, the Clone Ankylosaurus couldn't take anymore and returned to his card once the Deltadromeus landed on him again.
"Gaaaah!" Ed gasped at Thud being knocked out before running to retrieve the card.
On the other end of the battlefield, Bailey repeatedly swiped her long claws at Angel. And with each swipe, the Diceratops countered with her horns. "Why…won't…you…just….die!" Bailey panted as her attacks started slowing down. Of the three clones, she was the one who used up the most energy in the fight before with Nightmare.
Something Angel picked up on easy. "Exhausted, you are. Fate, you have sealed." She told her opponent. "To retreat now, is the best option."
All the Diceratops' words did was frustrate Bailey further. "Grrr! Shut up and talk normal!" She snarled as she lunged with open jaws. However, instead of biting down on Angel, the Baryonyx Clone found herself suddenly stuck. Opening her eyes, Bailey looked in surprise as Angel had caught her jaws between her large horns. "What?!" She tried to speak, but found herself gagging from having her mouth open so wide.
"Blinds better judgement, your anger does." Angel gave one last piece of wisdom before she swung her head and tossed Bailey away. The spinosaurid was sent flying before she crashed on the other side of the lawn and was carded.
That just left Fang to deal with Confucius. And that was not going well for him either. Like with Bailey and Thud, the large theropod was exhausted from his previous battle. And when you add the fact that his opponent was larger than him, that equals a bad time for the Carcharodontosaurus Clone. Ursula was taking note of this as her Scanner started blinking red. "Grrrr!" She growled as she popped out a Move Card. "Do I have to do everything myself?" She muttered before she caught the card as it ejected and swiped it. "Go, Volcano Burst!"
Fire started to gather in Fang's mouth as he swung it around. But before he could either send a trail at the Shantungosaurus or have flames erupt from underneath him, Confucius went in for the attack. Just like when Ace battled Coal in China, he knew Fang's weakest point when using a Move Card was his mouth. So before the green carnivore could finish his attack, he tackled him to the ground and pressed his forelegs on Fang's neck.
"Ack! Gaak!" Fang choked on the flames as he desperately tried to free himself: kicking his legs, attempting to claw with his arms, and shaking his body as much as possible, but his opponent was not deterred in the slightest. Eventually, his tail started to slow down with its flailing before it eventually dropped to the ground and he returned to his card.
"I didn't choke him to death, if you're concerned about that." Confucius told Ursula as he backed away from the card. "He felt the effects of his own attack from inside himself, but he's still alive."
But Ursula wasn't listening to what the red ornithopod said. "Noooooo!" She wined as she grabbed the card. "How could we lose?! We were so close!"
"We would have won if they hadn't cheated and swapped their dinosaurs." Zander said bitterly as the trio regrouped with their cards.
"We should've thought of that!" Ed complained.
"Ahem!" The trio turned to where they heard Sheer clear her throat and saw the pirate trio hovering above Angel as she pawed the ground.
"I believe this is the part where you depart from this premise." Foolscap told them with a sneer.
"More like departs once she's done with you." Gavro joked, pointing down at the Diceratops.
"A bitch, payback is." Angel told the trio as she charged towards them.
Frozen with fear, the Alpha Gang could do nothing but hug each other as their previous prisoner got closer. "Aaaaaaah!" They screamed before they were sent flying by Angel's attack. "Blasting off again!" They said as they disappeared with a twinkle in the sky.
"Team Rocket, they are not." Angel said as she watched the twinkle disappear and went back to the group.
"Never mind that. At least the President is safe." Delta told her.
"Guys!" The six present looked to see Juliet running towards them. "Everything okay here?" She asked once she came to a stop.
"We should be the ones asking you that." Foolscap said as he noticed all the bloody marks covering the Saurolophus' body. "What happened with you?"
"We fought some terrorists in a tunnel. Managed to chase them off, but I'm the only one able to fight." Juliet answered.
"Well, we don't have to worry about anymore fighting today, so you're good." Gavro told her.
"I'm afraid that isn't true." Confucius said as he gestured up to the sky, still with the colors of a Battlefield.
"What? But we-" Foolscap started to wonder before Sheer cut him off with the realization.
"Oh, no! Rod and Laura!"
DK
Teddy didn't have time to use Claw Blade when Pyro used his attack on him, so he tried to block with his normal claws. This did nothing except expose his arms to the flames. "Perfect." Pyro thought as the fire did its job and burned the Therizinosaur's arms.
Teddy roared in pain as he stumbled back. "M-my hands!" He cried out as he felt numbness in them. "I can't feel my hands!" He desperately started shaking them to get feeling back into them. With his arms in such a state, he had no way of attacking or defending himself.
Exactly what Pyro wanted. "Hmhmhm." The Acrocanthosaurus chuckled darkly. "No more slashing for you." He said quietly before lunging forward with a roar. Teddy barely had time to register what he heard before Pyro bit down on his throat.
"Teddy!" Rod and Laura cried out in horror.
"I can see why they call you Teddy." Pyro mocked as he shook Teddy's long neck around while the Therizinosaurus resisted. Even as Teddy started getting his claws properly moving again, he couldn't do anything with Pyro this close. "Without those claws, you're basically as tearable as one. Ha! Tearable!" He laughed at his unintended pun before continuing his verbal assault. "And that's not even taking your personality into account."
But he didn't get to say anything else before he was interrupted. "HEY, ASSHOLE!" Shifting his pupils towards the source of the yell, Pyro found himself getting slammed into from behind by a very pissed-off Diamond. "Keep my brother's name out your FUCKING MOUTH!"
The attack hit Pyro with so much force that he let go of Teddy's neck before he was sent crashing into a nearby wall, the wind knocked out of him. Diamond stood panting from that adrenaline rush. Since she expected Pyro was not getting up from that for a while, she turned around to check on her brother. "Are you all right?" She asked Teddy.
"I'm fine now." Teddy said as he moved his right hand around, feeling it back to strength. "My hands are all better."
"Good, because we're not done yet." Diamond warned him as she turned to where Pyro crashed, knowing from the lack of red glow that he wasn't down and out.
She was right. "YOU BITCH!" The Alpha Acrocanthosaurus roared as he sprang out of the rubble with red-hot rage before charging towards them. "I'm gonna enjoy burning you!"
The Secret Dinosaur siblings immediately got into fighting stances. "Shall we show them our new Fusion Move?" Teddy asked Diamond, already knowing her answer but wanting to humor her.
His sister looked at him with a smirk like look, pleased by his new boldness. "I hoped you'd say that."
Diamond stepped forward and started glowing with a rainbow glow as her head started gathering energy. Dr.Z saw this and immediately recognized this from when he fought her in Rome. "Oh, shit. Pyro, don't look at the light!" He warned his dinosaur.
But it didn't matter as Pyro already had halted his attack and closed his eyes, which had little effect from the intense brightness. "No, really?! I thought I'd just stare at it!" He snapped at the old man.
But then something bizarre happened as Teddy stepped in front of Diamond while she kept charging her Super Move, making sure to keep his back to her head as he also started activating his own Super Move. "What the heck are they doing?" Dr.Z wondered to himself when he saw this, able to resist the blinding light from the angle and distance he was standing at. "If he stands in front of her, he's gonna be the one taking the full force of that Laser Ray. What could they be planning?"
"Get ready, Grandpa!" Rod called out to him.
"Because you're about to see our new Super Fusion Move!" Laura joined in.
"Flying Claws!" They said together as the Secret Dinos finished their charging.
"Flying what?!" Pyro yelled, still not able to see, much less move.
Diamond roared before lowering her head and firing her laser. Both Teddy and Pyro were picked up by the attack, but Teddy wasn't being damaged. Instead, he activated Gyro Claw and used to momentum that Diamond's Laser Ray created and spun straight for Pyro with excelled speed. The Acrocanthosaurus was helpless as the Therizinosaurus struck him repeatedly with his spinning claws, unable to dodge or even be knocked away as the Laser Ray pushed Teddy right back into his face.
Eventually, the combo ended as Diamond's ray dimmed down and Teddy stopped spinning. Both theropods in the air fell to the ground, but only Teddy landed on his feet. Pyro crash-landed on top of a tree. "All right!" Rod and Laura cheered and high-fived each other in victory while their dinosaurs roared celebratorily.
Dr.Z just stood there with a massive slacked jaw. "D-Wh-Ah-Eee!" He tried to say, but could not make any words.
As the doctor struggled to get his voice box working again after that display, two squawks were heard. Looking up, the siblings saw two Tupuxuara's flying towards them. "Hey, Flora, Fauna!" Teddy waved at them.
However, while the pterosaur sisters were descending towards them, they seemed to be picking up speed as they did so, a glow forming around Fauna as she did so. "Oh, boy." Diamond groaned as she knew they were competing to see who was faster again. "Duck!" She warned her allies as the flyers swooped in.
Thankfully, the sisters didn't come in near them. Unfortunately, that didn't include Dr.Z as he was blown away by them basically flying into him. "Waaah!" He screamed as he was face-planted into the grass.
Flapping their wings to slow themselves down, the two Tupuxuaras landed in front of Rod and Laura. "Ha! I win!" Fauna bragged to her sister, placing s wing on her chest.
"You cheated by using your Move!" Flora retorted.
"You never said I couldn't." Fauna said smugly, knowing she was right.
"That's because some rules are so obvious that you don't need to be told them!" Flora yelled, flapping her wings as it looked like she was about to start a fight.
Fauna turned to face her sister, wings also flapping. "I'm going to assume you're not going to try to imply anything with that." She warned her sister.
"Oh, that's right." Flora said in a mock realization. "You're-"
The impending fight was halted when an annoyed-looking Diamond stepped between them. "If you two are just gonna bitch about each other, then go do it somewhere else or help us!" She yelled, snorting at them for emphasis.
This managed to scare the pterosaurs straight as they quit their flapping and lowered their heads submissively. "Uh, yeah. Confucius sent us to pick you guys up when you got the Cosmos Stone." Fauna explained.
"Only I'm not seeing any of you with it." Flora pointed out before looking at them with pleading eyes. "Please tell me you didn't let the old man get it."
"That's not important right now." Rod said as he and Laura recalled their dinosaurs and each hopped onto a pterosaur's back, Rod with Flora and Laura with Fauna.
"It's too difficult to navigate those vaults. So let's make sure the Alpha Gang is gone and the President is safe." Laura explained their plan.
The Tupuxuara's looked at each other and shrugged. "Meh." They went with the plan and took off with the kids holding onto their necks as they ascended.
It was a good thing they left when they did, as Pyro roared with anger as he emerged from the blaze he created in his rage. "If you think you can use flying to escape from me then think again!" He roared at them before turning to look at the still flabbergasted Dr.Z. "Doctor, give me Fire Cannon and I'll shoot those brats down!"
The dinosaur's command managed to snap Dr.Z out of his stupor. "Uh, oh, yeah! Of course!" He stuttered out as he hastily pressed a button and ejected the Move Card. But as he brought the card to the slot to swipe it, he stopped. "Uh. Uh." The doctor's hand shook as he tried to swipe the attack. "What are you doing, Z? Just swipe the damn attack and roast those traitors!" He yelled in his head.
"Doctor, some time today would be nice!" Pyro's roaring at him didn't help Dr.Z's case as he now was sweating up a puddle of nervousness.
"Do it! Do it! JUST DO IIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTT!" Dr.Z screamed at himself, but still didn't move.
"DOCTOR, WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL-!" Pyro roared at the top of his lungs before he found himself getting struck from behind again. This time from a triple team of Nightmare, Crystal, and Blossom. "GODDAMNIT!" He yelled as he crashed to the ground again.
"THAT…DOES IT!" The Alpha Acrocanthosaurus snarled with pure rage as he got back up and turned to face his attackers, who showed surprisingly no fear or even caution. "I AM ON THE EDGE OF MY PATIENCE! IF ANYONE DOES ONE MORE THING TO PISS ME OFF TODAY I AM GOING TO-" He was cut off mid-sentence once again when the three dinosaurs glowed their respective colors and were called back to the pirates who summoned them.
"…" It was quiet for a few good minutes before Pyro's sanity broke and he exploded with rage. "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
DK
From atop their pterosaurs, Rod and Laura could hear the loud noise very clearly. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"Uh, Rod, do you hear that?" Laura asked her brother.
"I feel that." Came his response.
DK
Inside his bunker, the President was patiently waiting for any news from the outside when he also heard the screaming. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"What the devil is that noise?" He asked those in the room with him.
DK
At the D-Lab, several dinosaurs were drinking from the waterhole when they heard the screaming. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"The heck is that?" Beta asked as she looked up from her drinking with the others. It sounded like Pyro, but he clearly wasn't there.
DK
In his prison mindscape, Shi opened his eyes and he also heard the screaming. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"Errrrrr. Which of you is making that dreadful noise?!" He demanded out of his past lives, but none came forward. "No one, huh?" He replied, unconvinced.
DK
In the year 2129, Cretacia was currently having lunch with some friends, telling them about her son's accomplishments. "And then, when it seemed all was lost, they-" She stopped when she somehow heard Pyro's screaming.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"Huh?"
"Something wrong, Cretacia?" One of her friends asked.
Picking at her ear to make sure she wasn't hearing things, Cretacia shook her head. "Nothing. Probably just something in the wind."
DK
When Pyro was done with his rage, the entire area around him was nothing but ash as his outburst drained all his remaining energy and he returned to his card. From behind a large rock, Dr.Z slowly peeked out his head. He would also be furious if he hadn't been scared to the point all the fluids in his body froze solid.
Things did not get any better when the aircraft they used to get there hovered above him. "Dr.Z, we need to retreat now!" Ursula yelled from the open hatch. "Those dinosaurs could be here any minute!"
Seeing that was all the doctor needed to confirm everything and he sighed depressingly in defeat. He had failed to both take the US capital and the Cosmos Stone. This day, which was supposed to be his glorious triumph, ended with failure.
DK
Failure was one of the last things going through the heads of the D-Team's dinosaurs and allies as they all stood on a large stage on the White House lawn. Each of them were wearing a medal of heroism awarded to them and stood proudly while the President finished his speech. "And while he nearly faced certain defeat today, these brave heroes came to our rescue, ensuring our safety above all else." He gestured with his hand for someone to come up to the stage.
Someone entered stage right with a small box in their hands and stood next to the President. "We offer our thanks to these heroes of the Dinosaur Kingdom in the way we believe to be most appropriate." The President opened the box and grabbed the object inside. Turning to face the dinosaurs and company, they saw that it was the Yellow Cosmos Stone, wrapped in a towel to prevent the energy from electrocuting him. "I believe this stone is something that belongs to you." He said before handing the stone to Rod.
"Thank you, Mr. President." Rod said as he accepted the stone while the audience erupted into applause and camera flashes lit up the stage. As everyone else took in the attention, Rod turned to his sister. "We did it, Laura."
"We sure did." Laura nodded happily.
"I can't wait to see how the Kings will react." Diamond said.
Teddy put a claw to his chin in thought. "I wonder what they are doing now?" He asked aloud.

Of all the places Rex would find himself, a bar was one of the last places he thought today. But after what he went through, he needed something to null the pain. "Do you have anything nonalcoholic that would still be effective?" He immediately asked the barkeep as he sat at the table.
The barkeep, classically washing a glass, recognized the blond king and immediately had some reservations about serving him. "Uh, aren't you a little young to be here?"
"After what I had to experience, drinking age means nothing anymore." Rex told him.
"Oh, come on. I doubt it could be that bad." The barkeep tried to assure him with a hand on the shoulder.
Rex just looked the man in the eye. "I had to explain why Dinosaur Cards aren't NFTs."
"….I'll see what we have and make it a double." He said before walking off.
"Thank you." Rex groaned as he laid his head on the table.

"Yes! Yes! YEEEEEESSSS!" Zoe screamed as she was nearing the completion of a level she had been stuck on for years, or what felt like years. However, fate had other plans as just as she was about to reach the end goal she missed the platform and fell to her death. As the game over screen appeared, Zoe just sat there with her mouth agape as her controller fell out of her hands. She then reacted appropriately. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" She dramatically screamed to the heavens on her knees.

After waking up from his nap, Max went back to browsing online. And if the horrified look on his face said anything, he just made a critical mistake. "Oh, my god. They're drawing porn of me!" He internally screamed before reaching for his phone.
After dialing the number, it was picked up. "Yeah?" Tank's voice came from the other side. Within the next few hours, several homes would be broken into with arrests being made. "Don't be like these idiots." Tank said to the readers. "Or I will find you."
"What is wrong with you people?!" A horrified Spiny yelled.

After returning home from possibly his worse defeat yet, the only competition would be the Sanjo City Invasion eight months earlier, Dr.Z just sat at the dinner table to hopefully eat his problems away, as Helga wouldn't give him alcohol.
As the maid made the depressed doctor all his favorite meals to attempt to cheer him up, Seth sat across from him, per Dr.Z's request so he'd have someone to talk to and vent his frustration. "And then I don't know what happened, but I just froze." He said as he took a massive bite out of his liverwurst. "Those brats betrayed me for my worst enemies and yet I couldn't bring myself to punish them!" He slammed his fist on the table, shaking his dishes.
Seth took a sip from his wine while listening, as he was allowed to have alcohol, before giving his advice. "That's the problem with family. At first, it seems that they are your best supporters. But as time goes on, they soon become nothing but hindrances to your dreams." He frowned as he recalled all the overshadowing he had to endure from his younger brother every time he tried to contribute his brain to an ungrateful society. "And when you try to move past, they always find a way to use your relationship with them to chain you down."
Finishing his dinner, Seth stood up and prepared to leave for his lab. "If you truly want to achieve your goal of becoming Dinosaur King, then you're going to have to remove that weakness. Just like what I did to mine." He told the doctor before leaving.
Dr.Z took in what Seth told him. However, he was soon broken from his thoughts by Helga bringing him another dish, this time her renowned strudel. "I would take Seth's words with caution, Doctor." She warned him, glaring in the direction the man left.
When she came back to her senses, she had lost her memory of what happened after she went to find Rod and Laura in Chinatown. When Seth returned, he claimed innocence, having not seen her at all that faithful day, and assumed she must've been damaged when traveling. With her experience in dealing with children and especially the Doctor, she gained a good sense of lie detection. She knew Seth wasn't being completely honest with her about everything that happened.
But for now, she did nothing. Dr.Z still trusted him, and even claimed that he had forgiven Seth for using Rod and Laura to capture dinosaurs after seeing how successful they were, and would have a hard time believing any accusations she had about his righthand man with no proof. Right now her main objective was not getting rid of Seth, it was making sure Dr.Z was safe.
However, Seth was not unaware of Helga's lack of trust in him. "Next time, I'll need to dispose of her more properly." He thought as he entered his lab. He had much to work on for the coming weeks.
Next time on Dinosaur King:
Palace guard: The Princess has been kidnapped!
Zahrah: What is this?
(Holds up an oil lamp)
Zahrah: Heh! Maybe the genie inside can free me
(A blue glow comes out from the lamp)
Dr.Z: I am giving you four one last chance to prove yourselves worthy. Don't screw this up!
(Brontikens stands with Gigas, Maximus, and Armatus as all four roar together)
A/N: I LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEE!
You have no idea how sorry I am that this took nearly a whole fucking year to make. I really have no excuse other than poor scheduling. To hopefully help with this, I will now be adding a status update to my profile page so you can see just where I am on chapter productions going forward. Also prevents people from asking when's the new chapter as no matter how long it takes that just makes me not want to work on it.
I'm also adding things to my Discord server, such as a character Q&A and sneak peaks. So, if you want to join, go to my Flamewarrior04 Deviantart page to find the link.
I really hope next time I can get this chapter out before the end of the year. Crossing my fingers I don't sleep the year away again.
