Chapter 14
After all the candidates hand in their consent forms. Then they head for their gates and stood in front of them until they were given the word.
Anko looked at the time, she knew that by now, the other chunin would have unlock the teams gates "Alright heads up, you maggots! The second part of the test has begun!"
With that said, the teams rushed into the forest to begin their search for teams with the scroll opposite to their own.
Team 7 was walking farther into the forest but then stops as they heard a scream rip through the air. "It seems t-that some of other teams have already found e-each other" Hinata said as she swallowed a nervous lump forming in her throat. "T-The test alone is frightening but having it h-here..."
Naruto puts his hands behind his head and grins "Oh come on, there's nothing to be scared of. It's gonna be a piece of cake." A few moments after, he makes a face and turns his back to his teammates, walks a few paces away from them "Excuse me...I gotta you know..."
Hinata was confused at what Naruto meant but Sasuke knew as he saw the blonde starting to unbuckle his belt. He quickly went over to him and whacked him upside the head "I know you're an idiot but I thought you would have more common sense than that!" He palmed his face "Spare us what little dignity you have left and find a bush!"
As Naruto goes into the bushes, Hinata walked up to Sasuke and asked "Um...what was that all about?"
His cheeks turn a little red as he shook his head "It's nothing, don't worry about it"
Naruto came back grinning a few moments later "Oh man, what a relief"
After sharing a look of agreement, Hinata and Sasuke charged at Naruto. Hinata pulled out shuriken and threw them at Naruto, who clumsily dodged them due to the surprise attack. This gave Sasuke the chance to deliver an uppercut attack from his right, sending Naruto crashing against one of the abnormally large trees.
Naruto shakily gets up and rubs his injured cheek "What the hell was that about?!"
"Where's Naruto?!" Hinata asked in a demanding tone
"What are you talking about?! I am Naruto!" He said confused
"Then where's the cut on your cheek?" Sasuke asked
The imposter's eyes widen
"I guess you didn't know the real Naruto got a cut on his face before this test" Sasuke said glaring at the imposter
Hinata added "Plus the real Naruto is right-handed, so his shuriken holster would be on his right leg however you have it on your left leg"
Sasuke grips his kunai tightly "Your transformation skills are even worse than Naruto's. Tell us who you are!"
The ninja undo the transformation, showing his appearance to be a rain ninja in a off white jumpsuit and some kind of device over his mouth "Alright, you got me, so what?! I'm still gonna your stroll, now hand it over or else" He glares "So which one of you has it?" When he sees neither of them backing down, he says "Fine...then I'll just have to take it from you!" He charges at them
Sasuke jumps into the air, forming hand signs "Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!" He sends small but powerful balls of fire towards the enemy. However he dodged all of them and met Sasuke in the air where their kunais canceled each other out.
Hinata followed them from below, waiting for her chance to strike. The sound of someone struggling reached her ears, she looks to her left and sees Naruto tied up on the ground
"Hey, get me out of this!" He said squirming in the ropes
"Hold still, Naruto!" Hinata said throwing her kunai toward him, cutting the ropes
He stopped struggling "Thank you"
Sasuke glanced down for a second to see that Hinata has freed Naruto, which gave the rain ninja an opening "Ha, better keep your mind on the game!" He said, throwing kunai knives towards the young uchiha.
Sasuke was on top of a branch when he saw them coming his way, he jumps, grabbing the edge of the branch to keep himself from falling. When the kunai hit the branch, his eyes widen at the small piece of paper hanging from one of them "A paper bomb?!"
The bomb explodes causing him to let go of the branch and go straight for the ground. Luckily he manages to land on his hands and knees, however before he could get up, the rain ninja appeared behind him "Sorry, this is one test you fail. Now hand over the scroll or you die!"
"I won't give you that chance!" Hinata quickly came up from behind and threw her kunai at the ninja. He moves to the side, dodging it and goes to strike her with his own. But she pushes his arm upward, away from her and attacks the chakra points in that same arm.
"Argh! You little...!" He glares at her, holding his arm and then tries to kick her. Hinata sees this and makes a X forms with her arms, blocking his kick. She tries to attack him with her gentle fist but he jumps into the air to avoid it.
Sasuke use that opportunity to attack, Focus my chakra...he activates his sharingan, picks up the kunai Hinata threw at his foot and then kicked it towards the enemy. When he saw that it distracted the rain ninja, he jumps into the air with a menacing look in his eyes and stabs him hard in his side, the blood of his enemy spatters on his face.
Naruto ran up to Hinata, who was looking at the confrontation above them, looks up and calls out "Hey, you got him!"
Sasuke glances at his teammates "Don't just stand there! Chances are this guy's not alone! Watch out the others could strike any second now!"
With his one good arm, the rain ninja pushes Sasuke off and holds his side "I wish...I came alone so it's not to arouse suspicion...argh...big mistake" he confessed before running off
Sasuke lands on the ground, looking in the direction the ninja ran off in So much for him...for not
"Alright! We did it!" Naruto said as he and Hinata walked up to Sasuke
"What's this 'we'? Hinata and I were the ones who did damage while you got caught, you loser" Saauke said deactivating his sharingan
"Hey, he just caught me off guard, it won't happen again, believe it!" He replied angrily
Hinata steps between them "Look, the important t-thing is he's done and we're safe" She takes out a handkerchief from her pouch and hands it to Sasuke "Let's come up with our n-next plan of action, ok?"
Sasuke takes it, wiping the blood off his face and nods "You're right, let's move away from here. Other teams maybe on their way because of the commotion we caused"
Naruto huffed but said nothing and followed Sasuke's lead, moving to another area. As soon as they were in a different spot, the team sat in a circle to discuss their next move.
Sasuke spoke first "What just happened proves we can't just trust appearances. We have to come up with a way of knowing that each of us is who we say we are and not some imposter using a transformation jutsu"
Naruto hummed in agreement
"Then I believe the r-right thing to do is to have a password" Hinata suggests
Sasuke nods "That's exactly what I had in mind"
"What kind of password?" Naruto asked
"A secret one, something known only to the three of us and don't trust anyone who doesn't know it, no matter what" Sasuke firmly said
While listening to him, Hinata quickly glances at their surroundings and notices a bamboo pole sticking out of the ground I don't think that's suppose to be there She then focuses her attention back on Sasuke as he was about to give the password
"Listen closely because I only wanna say this once. The question will be: When does a ninja strike? And the response is: a ninja waits until the time is right, when his enemy sleeps and drops his guard, with his weapons lie forgotten in the stillness of the night that is the moment for a ninja to strike" He finished
Hinata recognized the password as an old rhyme that she heard when she was young
Sasuke looked at his teammates expressions, Hinata's was realization and understanding while Naruto's was one of confusion "So, you got it?"
Hinata nods "Yes, I understand"
"Mmmm you got one a little shorter?" Naruto ask
"No, Naruto that's it" Sasuke replied
"Naruto, do you want me to repeat it?" Hinata asked
Being stubborn as he is and not wanting to look like a fool, He said "Ah no thanks, I got, no problem. I just thought it was gonna be a passWORD, not a pass speech"
Sasuke stands up "Alright then, I'll take the scroll"
Naruto gets up as while "Wait a minute, Sasuke! I-" He winced in pain as something flew pass him, cutting his other cheek. He looked in the direction it came from "What was that?"
A large gust sweeps pass them followed by a huge explosion. The one behind it is the female grass ninja with the abnormal tongue "Alright, you two fan out into the woods and keep your eyes open" She said to her teammates "I'll handle this alone"
Sasuke was hiding under the bushes, with a few scratches, waiting for the enemy when he heard movement behind him. He quickly turns around and sees Hinata was ok, minus the scratches she had.
Both of them hesitate to go near the other. The blast had cause them to separate, so they didn't know if the other was an imposter or not. They stood looking at each other for a few moments, then Sasuke had up his kunai "Answer the question: when does a ninja strike?"
She answers "A ninja waits until the time is right, when h-his enemy sleeps and drops his guard, with his weapons lie forgotten in the s-stillness of the night that is the moment for a ninja to strike"
Sasuke lowers his weapon, letting out a sigh of relief "Good, it's really you" He walks up to her but stops when she stood in her fighting stance
"I-I know we agreed on that password, but I know someone was eavesdropping on us, so how can I know you're really Sasuke?" She asked
Sasuke looks at her wide eye for a moment then smiles that smile that makes her heart race. "I'm the real Sasuke because only the real one was with you the day you were stuffing your face in the cinnamon bun I brought"
She blushed furiously at the memory of that day, embarrassed at her actions "O-Ok, I believe you b-but p-please keep that d-day to yourself"
"I will, don't worry" He goes up to her and checks her over "You ok?"
Still blushing, she nods and checks him over "A-And you?"
He nods as well
"Hey!"
They both turn to see Naruto heading towards them
"What's up, you guys ok?" He asked
Hinata held out her hand causing him to stop few feet away from them "Wait a-a minute, we need the password"
He grins "Oh, right no problem. A ninja waits until the time is right, when his enemy sleeps and drops his guard, with his weapons lie forgotten in the stillness of the night that is the moment for a ninja to strike"
Sasuke and Hinata smiled at him then threw their knives, which he hit the ground in order to avoid them
"Hey! What was that?! You could have killed me!" He complained
"Got to hand it to you, you're quicker than the last one" Sasuke said
"Huh?"
Hinata gets back into her fighting stance, giving him a stern look "What have you done with the real Naruto?"
"What are you two talking about? I'm the real Naruto, I answered the question perfectly" he argued
"Exactly, that's what's wrong. The Naruto I know couldn't that word for word, not in a million years. You have a better chance teaching it to a hamster" Sasuke replied
Hinata inwardly sighs I wish Sasuke wouldn't say that about him, the real Naruto wasn't able to answer it now but he would have eventually if he studied it "And the way you dodged our attacks, that is not the way he moves!"
"So come on out, whoever you are! Party's over!" Sasuke demanded
The imposter grins evilly, licking their lips "Well, aren't we the clever ones?" She said then reveals herself "Tell me if your teammate is really that dim-witted, why would you come up with a password he'd never be able to remember?"
"You see it wasn't meant for Naruto, so much is for anybody who might happen to be nearby trying to eavesdrop on us. It was meant as a trap and you stumble right into it" Sasuke answered smirking
"And it wasn't hard to tell that the bamboo pole didn't belong in the type of environment this forest has" Hinata added
The grass ninja removes her hat, leering at the two, smiling "I'm impressed, you two certainly haven't drop you guard, have you? This promises to be very entertaining" she hisses, licking the edge of her hat
A shiver went down Hinata's spine as she looks at her T-There's something about this one...this feeling...it's so...unnerving. However I do hope Naruto is alright, wherever he is. She then gasps as she saw the grass ninja pull out an earth scroll
"Ahh you'd love to get your hands on our earth scroll, wouldn't you? It would go do nicely with your heaven scroll" She said. Hinata and Sasuke watches in disgust as she swallows the scroll whole "When this is all over, one of us will have both scrolls..."
Both Sasuke and Hinata gasps
The grass ninja pulled back the skin surrounding her eye, showing a predatory look "...And the other will be dead!"
The images of blood spatter, feeling of bearing pain and suffering hit them causing Hinata to fall on her knees and Sasuke on his behind.
He pants as he was trying to figure out what happened I-Is this...an illusion? He launches on his hands and knees and throws up. After that, he tries to stand but flops back on his behind No...it's more than that. Her thirst for blood is almost palpable! Looking into her eyes...I saw the moment of my own death. W-Who is she...what is she?! "H...Hinata?!" His eyes widen as he saw her clutching her hands close to her heart, trembling furiously. S-She's got it worse than me. We've got to get out of here...away from her. He looks at the grass ninja S-She's death!
She laughs evilly "You're paralyzed with fear"
Sasuke struggles to get up but seems unable to W-What's wrong with me? Move...Come on, move Sasuke move! He reaches for his kunai That's it, you can do this with his trembling hand, he grabs hold of his kunai and pulls it out Yes! He starts getting to his feet That's right, even if it's just a little you've got to move
The grass ninja nod once, impressed "Very good, now what happens?"
Sasuke eyes widen again as he felt himself unable to move It's not use...I...can't move
"S-Sasuke" a soft voice called to him
He glances besides him and sees Hinata has gotten out of her state of fear though still trembling "H-Hinata, a-are you alright?"
Just like him, she tries to move but fails "I-I can't move"
"Ahh so you've regain your ability to talk, I honestly thought you'd stay like that until I end you both" the grass ninja started approaching them, pulling out two kunai knives "Oh well, still you needn't worry, I'll make it quick...though I don't have to tell you that, do I? You've seen it with your own eyes"
Sasuke still tries to move but his body wouldn't budge I-I can't let it end like this He looks over and sees Hinata desperately trying her best to move I-I won't let her die
"I excepted you to be more of a challenge...how disappointing" the grass ninja threw the kunai, one heading for each other of them
Move, Sasuke...You've got to move Sasuke told his body...Move...
The enemy widen her eyes as she watched happened next
MOVE! He raises his kunai and stabs himself in the thigh, grunting in pain as his blood spatter onto the ground. He activates his sharingan, dodging the kunai heading towards him and picks up Hinata, escaping into the trees.
The grass ninja approaches the spot where Sasuke previous was and looks at the blood soaked soil below A desperate move...but a clever one, he overcame the fear with pain. She looks in the direction they escaped So..this prey is not so helpless after all
In the trees above, Sasuke held Hinata close with one arm wrapped around her while his other hand held on to the kunai still emblemed in his thigh. Hinata realizes she can move again but still clutches onto him "S-Sasuke" She looks up and gasps at what she saw "Your t-thigh..."
Saauke painfully groans as he pulls it out, more blood comes out messing the branch they were on.
Hinata gasps, sitting up as she looked at the wound with concern "It's deep, w-we need to-"
Sasuke pulled her right back to his chest to make stop talking. He holds her tightly as he frantically looks below Gotta move...gotta get away from her...but How?! Where?!
Hinata looks at him, noticing his arms shaking around her and the fear in his eyes The last I saw him like this was with Zabuza...no this time is different, this enemy...she gives off a far worse feeling than Zabuza ever did. Suddenly she notices the area around them darken, glances to the side and sees a large snake about to attack "Sasuke, move!" She pushes him and herself out of the way, avoiding the snake's bite
From mid air, Sasuke watches the snake "Unbelievable, I didn't even notice it! I'm losing it!" The snake coils around the tree they were on and goes after him. Sasuke panics as when he saw the snake coming at him, an image of the grass ninja followed after it "NO, STAY AWAY" He yelled, throwing shuriken at the snake's head, killing it
Sasuke lands onto another branch across the tree from where Hinata stood. They gasps as they saw the surface of the snake's neck breaking, watching the grass ninja coming out
"I sense your fear and desperation..." She said and Sasuke eyes widen in terror "...it's only natural, the prey must never let down it's guard, not even for a moment." She looks at him with an evil smile, her long tongue sticking out, cackling evilly "...in the presence of it's predator!"
Hinata stood where she was with an expression of horror on her face as she watched the grass ninja's body stretch and coil around the tree snake like, going after her teammate "Sasuke!"
Kunais were thrown from above, stopping the enemy in her tracks.
"Looks like I came just in time!"
They all up and sees Naruto, standing on a branch way above them with his arms crossed "Oh and by the way, what was that password again?"
"Naruto, get out of here! What are you thinking?! You don't know what you're up against!" Sasuke yelled "Hurry, go now while you still can!"
"So Naruto, you manage to escape from my friend, well done" the grass ninja said amused
I get it, so that wasn't just some old random giant snake attack, the snake was sent by her...or it or whatever this demon is Naruto thought focusing on her
Sasuke looks up at his blonde teammate He doesn't get it...he doesn't know what he's dealing with...Then his sight turns to Hinata What do I do?... He thought, trying to think of a way them out of this situation
"Ok, ok I don't know what's going on here but you've been picking on my friends and I don't like that. So you just better slither on back into your hole, snake lady, before I make a pair of shoes out of you!" Naruto said
Both Sasuke's mouth and eyes widen from the threat Naruto made Huh?! Little idiot, he's just gonna get all three of us killed, I've got to do something but what?
Hinata looked at Naruto He doesn't even know what we're up against but he still acts the same way before any battle but... Her sight goes onto Sasuke, her eyes showing concern Sasuke isn't acting like himself, he never acts this way, not even when we were fighting Zabuza and Haku. Her eyes widen as she saw him deactivate his sharingan but what he said next shocked her the most.
"You can have it" Sasuke said to the grass ninja
Naruto looked at him in confusion and Hinata looked with disbelief
Sasuke digs into his pouch and pulls out the heaven "The scroll, right? That's what you want, alright then take it and leave us in peace!"
Both his teammates gasps in shock
"Sasuke, you crazy or what?! We're just gonna hand over the scroll to the enemy?! No way, what's wrong with you?!" Naruto yelled
"Shut up and stay out of it!" He yelled back
"What?!"
The grass ninja sits up, smiling "Very wise, very sensible. Sometimes the helpless prey, if they had to save their own skins realize that their only hope is to distract the predator with even more precious"
"Take it" Before Sasuke could toss the scroll, a hand came and took it away from him. He was shock to see his blue haired teammate in front of him, holding the scroll tightly in her hands. "Hinata, please stay out of this, we-"
A slap echoed throughout the forest
Naruto's eyes widen, he couldn't believe what just happened. Hinata had slapped Sasuke hard across his face "Hinata..."
Sasuke held a hand to his injured cheek, looking at her with disbelief "H-Hinata, why-"
"Who are you?" She said softly
He was confused at her question "What?"
Hinata looks up at him, her eyes glistened with unshed tears "Who are you?! Where is Sasuke?!"
"What are you talking about?! I'm the real Sasuke!"
"You're a liar!" She yelled
Sasuke just stood there, shocked
"The Sasuke I know would never do this, h-he would never hand over something like this. He would fight at his best to keep it away from the enemy!" She said as her tears began to fall, running down her face "He...He wouldn't take the cowardly way out"
Sasuke looks at her, his heart clutching at her words, it clutches more at the sight of her tears. In her eyes, he could see that she was scared too but she didn't show any sign of wanting to give up.
"You give me the confidence and courage I have not to run away. But what about you? ...Have you chock? Is that why you feel the need to run?"
He clutched his fist, look at the branch he was standing on in shame "Hinata..."
"Sad but truth" The two turn their attention to the enemy, she stood and rolled up her sleeve, revealing black markings on her arm "It doesn't matter, as far as the scroll goes, I can simply kill you and take it" She bites her thumbs and ran the blood over her marked arm.
From above, Naruto knew what she was about to do, he took out his kunai and jump down, heading straight for her "Let's see you try it!" I have to stop her!
But he was too late "Summoning Jutsu!" In an instant, she was standing on top of a giant snake. The snake tries to attack Naruto, but he jumps out of the way.
"Let's not worry about him for now, go for the girl" she ordered
The giant snakes goes after Hinata
Hinata clutches the scroll to her chest and jumps around, avoiding the snake attacks. After minutes of avoiding the snake, she starts getting tired and pants.
Damnit Sasuke, why are you just watching this?!...Naruto thought looking at his black haired teammate and looks back at Hinata ...She can't keep this up forever. He sees the snake advances again using it's head and she dodges it again. However she was so busy avoiding the head, she didn't see the tail coming from behind, luckily Naruto jumped in and saved her before it hit.
Hinata was on her knees, panting "T-Thank you, Naruto." Looking up, her eyes widen as she sees the scroll in his hand "What are you-"
"I'll take care of the scroll, you rest" And without letting her speak, he takes off as the new target of the snake.
Sasuke remained standing in the place he was in, watching his teammates. He could understand why Naruto would keep going, he didn't see what Sasuke saw. But why Hinata? He didn't understand how she could keep fighting after she've seen what their enemy is capable of. Hinata was right, he had chocked. After that experience of his own death, anyone would have. But not her, Hinata saw her own death too but still she kept going. She said he gave her courage but where was his courage now?
After looking into his eyes and seeing the display of power Naruto showed, the grass ninja opened her palm and blew a powerful Fire jutsu at him, the impact causes him to breakthrough a couple of branches below.
"That fire in his eyes, there's no mistaking it" She said looking down at him. Then she smiles Ohhh things have gotten very interesting... She looks over to Sasuke "Now then, let's see how you do, Sasuke!"
The giant snake heads straight for him. He couldn't force himself to move and watched as it was coming for him. But before the snake could get, Naruto and Hinata stopped the snake in it's tracks, their kunais deep in the surface of it's mouth.
"Hey kid, you're not scared, are you?" Naruto pants, looking up at Sasuke "You scaredy cat!"
Sasuke gasps as he saw the look in Naruto's eyes, instead of a blue hue, they were the color of blood.
"Standing there like a frozen rabbit, no way! You're not the Sasuke I know!" Naruto said
"Naruto, please..." Hinata said in a scolding manner before looking at Sasuke "As long as we work together as a team, we'll be able to do this, isn't that right Sasuke?"
Sasuke eyes widen as he remembered that those were the same words he said to her the day the demon brothers attacked them Hinata...
A extremely long tongue slithered down and coiled around Naruto. His team gasped as they saw him being lifted up into the air "Naruto!" They voiced
"Hey...oh man, disgusting! Put me down before I yank this tongue out of your head!" Naruto yelled as he struggled
The grass ninja brings him closer to her Extraordinary, so The Nine Tail brat lives..."I see, when your angry is aroused some of The Nine Tails Fox's chakra is released" She marks a hand sign, purple flames appeared on her fingertips "what an interesting childhood you must have had". She uses her tongue to lift up his jacket, revealing the seal on his abdomen "The spell wit in you has appeared on your skin"
"Five Palm Seal!" Naruto let's out a silence scream as she stabs around the seal hard with her flaming fingers. As she removes her hand, five smaller seals appeared. She watches as he falls unconscious in her grip For twelve years, the seal has remained unbroken. Soon the demon's chakra and the boy's will be as one... She reaches into Naruto's pouch and pulls out scroll ...but for now he's just in my way. Since she was done with him, the grass ninja throws him
"Naruto!" Hinata quickly pulls out the kunai she was using to hold the snake and throws it at Naruto, it went through his jacket and straight into a tree where he now hangs from. She looks at Sasuke "Sasuke, we must do something!"
He grind his teeth as he slightly trembles
"I'm scared too, Sasuke but can you really watch as this happens?"
His heartbeat increase and he tightens his fist
Tears began to fill Hinata's eyes "Please, Sasuke Fight!" She yelled
A memory comes back to him, the image of his brother with the sharingan eyes appeared, he remembered what his brother said:
"Foolish little brother, you can't kill me. Your hate's not strong enough, you're not strong enough, your life's too precious to you. So run...that's right, run away and live...live with the shame"
No! The sharingan appears in his eyes once again and any fear he had before was replaced with anger and determination.
Mm it's happened at last, his Uchiha blood has finally come to a boil...The grass ninja thought as she looked at him
"Sasuke...!" Hinata smiles, happy to see that he was back to his old self
I think play with him for a little and learn the full extent of his powers The grass ninja undo the summoning jutsu, causing the giant snake to disappear which leaves behind a large amount of smoke that blew harsh in the wind. Hinata shields herself from the smoke while Sasuke looks up pass the smoke and sees the enemy on branches above them.
"Hinata, go take care of Naruto. I'll handle her" Sasuke said
Hinata's eyes widen "B-But wouldn't it be best for us to fight together against her?" She didn't want him to fight this monster alone.
"That kunai holding Naruto up won't last for long, it's best if you get him down now and take him somewhere safe..."
She hesitates "That's t-true but-"
"And besides..." He gives her a small smile "You and that loser did your share, it's time I did mine"
T-That smile again...She blushes, holding a hand to her chest to calm her beating heart. Biting her lower lip, she thinks it over and makes a decision "O-Ok, I'll go b-but I'm coming back as soon as I'm sure he'll be safe!"
Sasuke nods at her and watches her take off, he was glad that the grass ninja didn't try and stop her as she got Naruto down and went to find somewhere safe.
He pulls out a kunai and holds it with his teeth All I cared about was surviving in order to defeat my brother...what a fool I've been. I see the truth now! Naruto...Hinata, if I haven't the courage to face this demon, how can I ever hope to face him?!
With that in mind, the battle between Sasuke and the grass ninja began. Sasuke ran straight for her, jumping into the air and throwing kunai knives. She dodges them effortlessly, he hops from tree to tree to get close and they start hand to hand combat. Both moved with such speed, dodging and blocking each other's attacks. The grass ninja moved with speed that no one would be able to follow with their eyes but with his sharingan, Sasuke could see everything.
I can see...He dodges another one of her attacks and strokes her with his fire ball jutsu, engulfing her in the flames ...I CAN SEE!
However the grass ninja escaped the jutsu unharmed, she moved through the smoke and tries to get him but Sasuke jumps out of the way. Now both were a distance from the other, waiting for the next move.

Hinata was standing on the branch of a tree, a couple of feet away from the fight. She had found a place yards away from here, where she knew Naruto would be safe. As soon as she covered the opening, she rushed back to see if she could help Sasuke. Hinata arrived at the time when he performed his fire ball jutsu, now she was looking at them, nervous about the next move.
The grass ninja gives out a powerful gust of wind, which Sasuke avoids by jumping onto the branches above. He jumps down from the branch and grabbed her from behind. He holds her upside tightly, letting them fall through the air and soon they reached a branch below, where the grass ninja's head made very hard contact with the branch, due to the force of the fall.
Hinata cringed at the sight of that, it was almost as if she could hear the bone break from where she was There's no way she could still be alive after that...
However to Sasuke and Hinata's surprise, the grass ninja they were looking at turned into a pile of mud. "Substitution...!" Sasuke said
"Look out, Sasuke!" Hinata shouted
He looks in her direction realizing that she came back. He quickly listens and jumps out of the way as more kunai knives came flying at him. He jumps down from the tree, using strong thread to keep himself from fall. As soon as he lands safety, the grass ninja came out and starts punching him, striking his face and stomach with her fist, then kneeing him hard in his stomach sending him flying a few feet away, where he laid motionless.
She slowly walks up to him, looking down at his body "What a disappointment you turn out to be. Your ancestors weep, the uchiha clan should thank me for killing you, silly little worm"
What she didn't know is that Sasuke had secretly hooked up small bombs on the back of her clothes, they went off as soon as she finish speaking.
It cause the distraction he needed to get away far enough for his next attack. He throws mini windmill shuriken, with the thread attach to them, pass her. He moves the shuriken around with the thread quickly in the position he wanted them to be. When they were in position, he pulls hard on the thread, causing the grass ninja to be tied up onto the tree.
She struggles against the thread "T-This is the...sharingan triple...windmill attack!"
Sasuke held one of the threads in his mouth and performed hand signs "Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu!" Then powerful flames, even more powerful and intense from his previous fire jutsu, came traveling through the threads and strike the grass ninja directly. She screams echoed loudly through the forest as she was being burned alive.
After the flames died down, Sasuke released the thread from his mouth and pants heavily. Hinata saw this and quickly came down, to check if he was alright. She stopped beside him, laying one hand on his back and on his chest, holding him up right "You did it, Sasuke! You used too m-much of your chakra for that last attack, but it ended this fight. It's ok now"
But the battle wasn't over. While they were distracted, the grass ninja broke free from the thread and made a hand sign, causing both Sasuke and Hinata to become immobile again.
"N-No...impossible!" Sasuke said struggling to move
Hinata struggles as well "S-She shouldn't be able to move after that a-attack"
"Such mastery of the sharingan..." The grass ninja voiced starts changing "...at so young in age. You're a true Uchiha after all, yes you'll do nicely"
Sasuke and Hinata does their best to move again but they are still unable to. Hinata looks up and see the symbol on the grass ninja's headband change from grass to sound T-This person was a sound ninja all along...
"You are definitely his brother, if anything your eyes are even keener than Itachi's" the sound ninja said
"Who are you?! What do you want?!" Sasuke yelled
"My name is Orochimaru but as to what I want, that will have to wait until we meet again, which won't happen until you finish this test with best score of all" He said holding up the heaven scroll and burning it before their eyes
"No...the scroll" Hinata in despair as the scroll turns to ashes
"First, you'll have to defeat the hidden sound ninja who serve me" He said
Hinata shook her head, the despair in her eyes turn to anger "Y-You treat this as if it's a game but it's not! If you are finished here, then be in your way! I hope we never meet you again!"
Orochimaru looks at the two, seeing Hinata was still unable to move but sees that Sasuke had manage to pull out another kunai again. He probably planning to do the same thing as before when he couldn't move...
He turns his eyes to Hinata for a minute, which send a violent shiver down her spine and smiles I see what I need to do now...
Orochimaru looks back at Sasuke "There are different ways a prey reacts when it comes to a predator, there are 2 ways that I find most amusing. I've already told you the first. The second is that if the predator goes after what's most precious to the prey, the prey will fight to defend it." He finishes glancing at Hinata
Sasuke pales as he realizes what Orochimaru is talking about N-No... "Don't you...!"
Let's see if you take the bait..."I'm curious to see what kind of prey you truly are, let's find out shall we?" With that said, he forms a hand sign, his neck stretches and moves, going after Hinata.
Hinata watched in terror as he come straight for her, his mouth opened showing his fangs. There was nothing she could do, she still couldn't move. She just closed her eyes tightly, waiting for him to strike her. However, after a minute of waiting, nothing happened. Although she was scared to open her eyes, she was curious to why nothing happened. In the end, her curiosity got the best of her, she opens her eyes slightly, what she saw caused them to go wide.
Sasuke was standing right in front of her with Orochimaru biting down on his neck. She stood there in shock and disbelief at what had happened. Sasuke had just saved her by using himself as her shield "S-Sasuke..."
After letting go of him, a black mark appeared on Sasuke's neck.
Hinata watches as he holds his neck, grunting loudly in pain "Sasuke!" Without realizing she could move again, she grabs hold of him as he sinks to his knees. She looks over to Orochimaru, her eyes showing tears of anger and sadness "W-What have you done to him?!"
"I just gave him a little parting gift. Very soon, Sasuke will seek me out and desire my power" he begins to faze into the tree "In the mean time, I enjoyed the demonstration of the powers you already possess." With that, he disappears.
Sasuke's screams of pain rip through the forest. Hinata was on her knees, holding Sasuke close to her as she was trying her to figure out what that monster did to him "P-Please, Sasuke hold on!" She takes his hand into her and winces at the tight grip he gave "It'll be ok, I-I'm here, you'll be alright"
Sasuke opens one of his eyes, looking at the sadness and concern in Hinata's expression "H-H-Hinata..." He manages to say before falling unconscious on her chest
"Sasuke...Sasuke!" She calls him but he doesn't respond. Looking at the marks his neck, she couldn't help but start crying "I-I'm s-sorry...I-I wasn't strong enough...I-I'm so sorry"
Hinata's teary eyes looks up into the orange sky, knowing nighttime will come soon "I-I don't k-know what to d-do...what a-am I going to d-do?"
