Aubrey sat on the couch between Jeremy and their Aunt Jenna, it was family game night and the only reason she had even bothered to come down and participate was because of her brother and aunt.

Elena, of course, wasn't present, she was 'up in her room' pouting because their parents wouldn't let her skip out on family night and go to a party that was being thrown that she wanted to go to, Jeremy and Bree both knew that Elena had snuck out, and went to the party anyway and also knew that she wouldn't get punished for it either because she never did.

It had been two years since Bree had met JJ, John B, Pope, and Kie, and they still were friends and Bree had been right about her assumption they would be best friends. They texted almost every day and had a few group chats.

It had also been almost one year since Bree and JJ started dating and Bree was looking forward to going back to the Outer Banks this summer, which they were planning to do and even John and Jenna were going to join them this year.

They were going on the first of June, and it was currently May 23, though she didn't show her excitement around Elena or their parents Jeremy knew how excited Bree was, and he understood why she had managed to arrange for him to meet JJ and the 14-year-old saw that the two were good for each other, he hadn't seen Bree that happy since they were kids before Elena turned everyone against her.

Everything was going fine. Jenna was winning the game they were currently playing, and the two siblings were playfully 'fighting' over the last cookie on the plate on the coffee table. The phone rang and Miranda answered it, after a short conversation she hung up and looked at Grayson.

"That was Elena, she snuck out and went to that party, and now she wants us to come and pick her up."

Grayson grabbed the keys, "all right then."

Miranda looked at her sister, "We will be back in a few minutes, and we can continue the game."

Jenna nodded at her older sister and the two left the house. Aubrey scoffed once they were gone, "god had that been Jer or me, they would have been so pissed that we snuck out and would have threatened to ground us and made us find our own way home, but no perfect little Elena never gets punished for anything like Jer and I would have."

Jeremy nodded, "right, Bree? It's so unfair, like Elena is clearly their favorite, even though they are not supposed to have a favorite."

Aubrey's phone rang, and she smiled seeing that it was JJ, calling, she answered and walked into the kitchen for a little privacy as Jeremy and Jenna were still sitting on the couch giving the ravenette teasing looks, both knowing who was calling. "Hey, beautiful."

Bree couldn't help the blush that coated her cheeks at that just like every other time he complimented her "Hey babe."

"How are you tonight?"

"I'm all right, it's not been that bad of a day, we were having a family game night, and Jer and Aunt Jen are the only reasons that I even bothered to participate, but Elena snuck out to a party that Grayson and Miranda said she couldn't go to and then called for them to come and pick her up which is where they are right now." Aubrey had stopped calling them her parents, they treated her like shit, so she just stopped seeing them as parental figures. "How about you? How are things with your dad?"

"Well, at least they haven't been too horrible to you today and well I'm pretty good, I'm sleeping over at John B's and haven't seen Dad all day and probably won't for a few more days. I'm on my way over to John B's right now."

"Well that's good, I'm glad that you have somewhere to go when your dad goes AWOL like that, and guess what?"

"Yeah, I'm lucky to have a best friend like John B, and what?"

"Eight more days and then I get to see you and the others..."

"Awesome, Rey, I can't wait to see you."

A blush coated her cheeks as a smile slipped on her face, "I can't wait to see you either, babe." Bree was leaning against the kitchen island as she talked to her boyfriend on the phone. She saw her aunt answer the landline as it rang and the look on her face. "Hey, something is going on, and I'm going to see what it is, but I'll either text you later tonight or tomorrow."

"All right, baby, I'll talk to you later."

"Bye, babe." then she hung up the phone and no they hadn't said the L word yet, they both knew they loved the other but wanted to say it for the first time in person.

Bree slipped her phone back into her pocket and walked back into the living room, "what's going on, Aunt Jen?"

She blew out a breath, "That was the sheriff and there was an accident, your parent's car drove off Wickery Bridge. Elena was in the backseat and is the only survivor, they want us to come down to the hospital."

The two siblings nodded.

Aubrey had a blank look on her face, she honestly felt nothing at the news of the death of her 'parents' he didn't react at all.

Jeremy looked sad, but it didn't destroy him like it would have had they been better parents to him, he was treated better than Aubrey but still put second best to Elena in their eyes. But they were still his parents, and he was sad that they died.

The trio left the house, with Jenna driving to the hospital when they arrived, Jenna was asked to make the official identification for Grayson and Miranda's bodies. Then they were led to the room Elena was unconscious in.

Aubrey kept her head down so that no one would notice her lack of emotion towards the death of her so-called parents and judge her even more than they already do, since they think she's the devil's spawn because of the lies Elena had told everyone about her.

They sat around waiting for Elena to wake up. Aubrey pulled her phone out of her jeans pocket and opened her texts with JJ.

Rey💞:

So Grayson and Miranda are dead, car accident, they drove off Wickery Bridge... that was the call Aunt Jen got when we were on the phone earlier.

Jay 💕:

Awh man babe I'm sorry, even if they were shitty parents they still were your parents.

Rey💞:

I know that I should care that they died because they were still my parents, but I just don't, I don't feel anything towards them... but this means we probably aren't going to be coming out there anymore.

Jay 💕:

It's all right, baby... there's always next summer for us to get to see you in person again.

Rey💞:

Yeah, I know, but I was really looking forward to seeing you and the others again. It's almost been an entire year.

Elena gasped as she sat up.

Rey💞:

I got to go, babe, but I'll text you later.

The next morning, JJ had gone home again to find an empty house, but he was thankful for that at that moment.

He made his way into his bedroom, digging in the back of his closet he pulled out an envelope with his name written on it in fancy cursive handwriting, he hadn't touched it since the mysterious blonde woman had given it to him two weeks ago.

She had said to only use it in case of an emergency, and JJ classified what he was planning to do as an emergency, so he opened the envelope.

His eyes widened seeing that it was a hell of a stack of cash... why did the mysterious blonde woman that he had never met before that moment give him money and a couple grand by the looks of it...

He had a feeling that this would be able to help him with his little plan, if Rey couldn't come to him this summer, he was going to go to her.

But he wasn't going to tell her it was going to be a surprise; he hoped it would help make her feel better as well. He knew that she wasn't close with them, but still, they were her parents, and he knew she would probably be hit with it all after the shock wore off, and he wanted to be there for her when it happened.

He didn't know why the woman had given him so much money, but he was frankly grateful because it meant that he could do this and be there for his girlfriend when she needed him.

He grabbed enough cash to get him through the trip and put the rest back where he had hidden the envelope before, knowing that his father wouldn't go digging through his closet because he wouldn't take the time if it wasn't in plain sight.

JJ then sent a group text to his friends in the one GC that they didn't add Aubrey to and told them his plan to surprise his girlfriend so that at least someone would know where he was.

I really can't wait for you guys to see what I have in store for this book, (: who was the mysterious blonde woman? Guess you guys will just have to wait and see, though you could probably guess if you wanted to, XD I mean I'm not being very subtle with it, just not mentioning her name yet.
