"Okay slow down Forkle. You're freaking me out here." Keefe said as he ran his hands through his hair and trying to get sleep to leave his eyes.
"I'm sorry to wake you at such a late hour, but we must act soon." Mr. Forkle said as he paced.
"You said there is another Moonlark? Does that mean Foster has a real sister, like not just Amy?"
"Yes. I went down after our radars started picking up weird signals from one of the girls we keep tabs on."
"GIRLS? How many humans are you tracking? Or better yet, how many failed Moonlarks are wondering the Forbidden Cities?" Keefe said in a low voice, if his father heard about this, who knew what would happen.
"That's not important right now Mr. Sencen. I know you're not the happiest being around all of us with your new abilities, correct?"
"I guess," Keefe mumbled, "But what does that have to do with anything?"
"I'm giving you a break that is also helping me and the collective tremendously."
"You want me to find her and bring her here? I thought you said you already found her?"
Mr. Forkle sighed, "I did, but that's not what I need you to do." He paused, looking unsure.
"I can handle anything you need."
"I know you can, but I don't think you realize what you're getting yourself into right now Keefe."
"Well just tell me and I can decide if I can do it or not." Keefe said as he stood in front of Forkle.
"As you wish, just know that the Collective and I would be doing everything we can to make sure you are as safe as possible."
"Forkle just spit it out!" Keefe yelled.
"I need you to go to the Forbidden Cities, find her, and keep tabs on her until I can prepare the Lost Cities for another Moonlark."
"That's not that bad, I mean-"
"Keefe I don't think you understand, you're basically going to be living with humans for who knows how long. It won't be nearly as long as I did, seeing that she's already 16 but I'm not sure when the Council will be ready for her."
"I understand Mr. Forkle I swear. I can do this." Keefe was excited, this is exactly what he needed.
"Okay, I also need you to figure out what abilities she manifested as. We were really close with Abbigail so I know she's a telepath but the reason we thought she wouldn't manifest was because the genetics would've made her manifest as way too many things." Mr. Forkle paused, "But I fear she manifested as a lot anyways. I wouldn't be this worried if the Neverseen hadn't found Sophie last time. They'll be more determined if they find out there is an undiscovered Moonlark."
Keefe smiled, "Her name is Abbigail?"
"Yes, her name is Abbigail Gray. She lives in a place called Alabama."
"When do I get to go?" Keefe asked excitedly, "I'm ready to meet her, if she's anything like Foster, it's going to be great."
"From what I've gathered the two of them are very similar, but Miss Gray is much more confident than Miss Foster was when she was living in the Lost Cities. This might be because she was more desperate to figure out her abilities, but we'll soon know the answers to all of our questions." Mr. Forkle trailed off, "You'll leave by tomorrow night."
"Oh and Keefe⦠No one can know. Especially Miss Foster."
