After Titania's mirror was stolen by thieves hired by Demona. Even though Elisa and Goliath were there to attempt to stop them. It was delivered directly to Demona's door where thieves got their money and were ordered to leave. Demona wrapping the mirror in chains then summoned Puck who was then bound by them. Demona then has a spark of anger and jealousy to various degrees over seeing Goliath and Elisa. Luckily for him, Demona was not exact with her wording thus there was a lot of wiggle room for him to do what he wanted without going against what she said. What she said and what she wanted were not the same thing after all. To make it so that human Elisa Maza did not exist he merely turned her into a gargoyle thought this was how she was since she was originally hatched.
Back to the Clocktower...
Where Elisa, Goliath, and the rest of the Manhattan Clan were talking about what they were going to do next. Where Elisa was shocked to learn there was a third race that consisted of quite possibly all the mythical creatures that were said to exist at one point.
Elisa did not believe at first but Goliath and the others seem claimed it was common knowledge and that humans were the second race. That Titania was the Queen of the race.
It was then that everything went black for a moment and when she came too.
"Goliath!? This great you have been turned into a gargoyle" Elisa exclaimed as hugged him after he touched the tip of her wing.
"I am no different than I was before. It was you that had changed" he told her
"What that can not be possible as..." Elisa said trailing off at the end
She was then taken out the outside of the clocktower that overlooked their area of the city where Goliath asked her to recall how they first met and she went over it. When he questioned why that would be needed if she were always a gargoyle.
Recalling how the third race, Oberon's Children were creatures of pure magic that were shapeshifters. Doing something like this should be possible for them considering her previous encounters with magic
'This does not seem right though as they claimed I have always been human but all my memories claim the reverse' she thought
That is the reason she was so overjoyed to see Goliath as a gargoyle because to the current her he and the others had always been humans. Was this an effect of the spell used on her or something else?
Of course, Elisa played along and accepted the fact that she was supposed to be human and the form she was in now was not her true form at all. However, that did not mean her memories just automatically changed back to normal though.
It was similar to the time that Demona had used a spell from the Grimorum spellbook on Goliath that left him in a state where he would be a mindless slave who followed the orders of whoever held the page the spell was on. However, that turned out not to be the case as no one was aware that the spell did not make someone mindless it merely robbed control of the person's body from their conscious mind. It was like the spell ripped correct of their body from them and left them as a passenger in their own body.
The only way they were able to confirm this was that Elisa used a spell to defeat the spell by ordering Goliath to act for the rest of his life as if he were not under a spell. Thus everyone thought that she had managed to break the spell by giving it an order that seemed counter...or so they all thought. While Elisa was new to actual magic, she had an idea of the various ways humans assumed magic would have worked from countless works of fiction that were created throughout human history. Since magic was indeed real then how many of those stories were based in fact and which ones that described magic were the closest to how things really worked were always things she thought about and still thought about from time to time.
Thus Elisa wondered did they broke the spell or did they used the spell to trick it into giving back control to Goliath however he is still under the effects of the spell. It is just the spell is now the one that is forced into the backseat to serve as the passager while Goliath keeps control of his body. Using the spell in a sense not to break it or counter it but instead, merely trick it into following an order such as that one.
Although she was not sure if this was an answer to that question if the magic Puck used and the magic from the spell in the Grimorum were similar. The answer she got was that you can not break spells like that merely trick them into a state such as what Elisa did. Thus when Goliath and the others told her she had always been a human and they had always been gargoyles. All the memories she had of it being the reverse did not just go back to how they were before the spell had been used on her.
