Kanji's pov

Professor Ozpin and I walked to a room where there was a desk, a bed, a dresser, and a TV along with a bookshelf.

"This will be your room, Kanji." Professor Ozpin explained.

"I will not stay here, Ozpin . I just wanted to make sure Ruby was okay. That is all now I will take my leave." I said as I was about to take my leave.

"Kanji, it's almost been five years since your parents' death, and the dropping of the hydrogen bomb, the prototype of the Payload bomb was drop on the Atoll Islands that destroyed your village but also mutated you turning you into a beast living day by day moving from place to place not knowing what you are and what actually happened that day." Professor Ozpin said.

"Shut up, Ozpin, before I do something that you will regret." I replied.

"Give me a chance to help you find the answers you seek."

Then I saw Ozpin holding a piece of paper, and he handed it to me. I took it and looked at it. It was a cave drawing of large reptile-like creature with dorsal plates that were similar to my own a creature I was familiar with.

"Why are you showing me this Ozpin?" I asked.

"You should have died five years ago. The Payload bomb prototype had enough radioactive dust to blow up a continent. What I am saying is this creature may have saved your life and did so merge with you giving you his powers." Ozpin explained,

"Ozpin, I stay on one condition, no uniforms, and I keep my weapons on me at all times." I said, and Ozpin nodded and left the room,

"Kanji, I just want to let you know your father would be very proud of you he was once a student here at Beacon." Ozpin said, then he shut the door.

I just looked at the photo, then I sat it on the desk, and then I headed off to bed.

No One's Pov

In the new room of Team RWBY, Weiss Schnee was sleeping soundly in her bed. Her eyes flutter open and she stretches her arms above herself, yawning, while Ruby Rose, dressed in her strangely-colored school uniform, creeps up on her side and suddenly blows a whistle, causing Weiss to fall off the bed.

"Good morning, team RWBY!" Ruby shouted.

"What in the world is wrong with you?" Weiss asked from the floor.

Ruby ignores the question. "Now that you're awake, we can officially begin our first order of business.

Weiss was getting up and brushing herself off. "Excuse me?"

Yang was holding a collection of objects - pillows, pamphlets, a candle-holder - in her arms, also dressed alongside Blake. "Decorating!"

"What?!" Weiss asked again

Blake then lifts her suitcase. "We still have to unpack." Then the suitcase opens, spilling its contents. "Aaaand clean."

Weiss does not look enthusiastic, especially when Ruby knocks her back again with the blow of her whistle.

"Aaaalright!" Weiss, Blake, Yang, and their fearless leader Ruby have begun their first mission!" Ruby said then raises her fist into the air. "Banzai!"

"Banzai!" Blake and Yang said doing the same at her sides. they turn at an angle as Weiss lays on the floor.

Yang places a poster of six guys in various poses named "THE ACHIEVE MEN" on her part of the room. Weiss positions the painting of the Forever Fall forest to perfection and walks away. Blake is busy putting away her books on the shelves, picking up a copy of Ninjas of Love, and widening her eyes as she warily looks around before putting it back. Ruby positions Crescent Rose at an exact angle against the curtains so she can perfectly slash a diagonal portion off. A quick zoom around the room and the repaired curtains ends with the girls admiring their handiwork... with one problem. The beds are cramped together in the center of the floor.

"This isn't going to work." Weiss said.

"It is a bit cramped." Blake remarks.

"Maybe we should ditch some of our stuff…" Yang suggested.

"Or we could ditch the beds... and replace them with bunk beds!" Ruby added excitedly.

"Umm, that sounds incredibly dangerous." Weiss retorted.

"And super-awesome!" Yang said excitedly.

"It does seem efficient." Blake added.

"Well, we should put it to a vote!" Weiss retorted.

"I think we just did." Ruby replied.

To the sounds of two dings and a single buzz, Blake thumbs up the idea, Yang makes a double-rocker gesture, and Weiss angrily curls her fists at her side. Decided, they rush at the beds, where sounds of jackhammering and sawing are heard until they gather back at the front of the room.

"Objective: Complete!" Ruby remarks

While Weiss' bed is simply on the ground next to her art and luggage, Blake's bed is next to her books, which are used to raise Yang's bed over it by placing the novels on the posts, and Ruby's is hanging from ropes on the ceiling with a blanket used as a tent over it.

"Allllright! Our second order of business iiiiiiiis...! Ruby said as the room spins until she lands on her bed and a book lands in her lap. "Classes…" She then pulls out a pencil.

"Now, we have a few classes together today. At 9, we've got to be-"

"What?! Did you say 9 o'clock?" Weiss asked.

" Uuuum…" Ruby remarks.

"It's 8:55, you dunce!" Weiss yelled.

Weiss is the first rushing out of the room and down the hall, the members of RWBY and JNPR peeking out from their doorways to look at her go.

Ruby was flabbergasted until she decided. "To class!

Ruby runs out, followed by Yang and Blake.

"Class...?" Jaune asked.

Jaune loses his balance and ends up toppling Nora Valkyrie, Pyrrha Nikos, and Lie Ren on top of him. He manages to get out from under them and start dashing.

"We're gonna be late!" Jaune yelled.

In the courtyard, Professor Ozpin and Glynda Goodwitch watch the two teams hurry through the school. Glynda looks at her watch, and Ozpin simply sips his drink.

Meanwhile, Kanji was already in class, having come early, and then he saw Team RWBY and Team JNPR come in and take seats.

The sight of an axe-blunderbuss weapon pans down to the boards displaying various species of Grimm - King Taijitu, Death Stalker, Beowolf, Boarbatusk, Nevermore, and Ursa - behind an elderly teacher named Peter Port.

"Monsters! Deeeemons... Prowlers of the night! Yes, the creatures of Grimm have many names, but I merely refer to them as prey! Ha-ha!" Professor Port laughed.

The members of RWBY, seated on the front row, are in varying stages of interest; Blake and Yang are sitting up and paying attention, Weiss is taking notes, and Ruby has her head propped in her hand as she takes a quick nap until she is woken back up by Port's bad joke, which receives a cricket-filled silence as a result while Kanji just sat there with his hood on doing the same thing Ruby did.

"Uhhhh... And you shall, too, upon graduating from this prestigious academy! Now, as I was saying: Vale, as well as the other three kingdoms, are safe havens in an otherwise treacherous world! Our planet is absolutely teeming with creatures that would love nothing more than to tear you to pieces! And that's where we come in. Huntsmen! Huntresses... Professor Port said then gives Yang a wink, which she groans uncomfortably at. "Individuals who have sworn to protect those who can not protect themselves! From what, you ask? Why, the very world!"

Then, a random student raises his fist. "Ayyyy-yep!" He stands like this for a moment as everyone looks at him strangely before sitting down, embarrassed.

"That is what you are training to become. But first: A story. A tale of a young, handsome man... Me! When I was a boy…" Professor Port started to say.

His words fade into the background, and a series of "blah"s when Weiss notices Ruby is very focused on penciling the paper in front of her.

"...Despite smelling of cabbages, my grandfather was a wise man. 'Peter', he told me…" Professor Port said.

The speech evolves into more "blah"s as Ruby chuckles at her creation and shows it to her teammates: a ball-with-limbs-and-a-head drawing of the teacher with stink lines coming from him and "Professor Poop" written underneath. Ruby blows a quick raspberry. Blake and Yang laugh, but Weiss looks annoyed.

"Ah-heh-hem!" Professor Port said as he waits until he has their attention again. "In the end, the Beowolf was no match for my sheer tenacity, and I returned to my village with the beast in captivity, and my head held high, celebrated as a hero!"

The teacher takes a bow as Weiss slowly gets more and more frustrated with Ruby's antics.

"The moral of this story? A true Huntsman must be honorable!" Professor Port said.

Ruby is balancing an apple on a book with her pencil held only by her finger while making a silly face.

"A true Huntsman must be dependable!" Professor Port added.

Ruby has fallen asleep again in the first class of the year.

"A true Huntsman must be strategic, well-educated, and wise!" Professor Port added.

Ruby is not-so-subtly picking her nose, much to Weiss' building anger.

" So, who among you believes themselves to be the embodiment of these traits?"

Weiss was still angry, and she raised her hand. I do, sir!

"As do I." Kanji replied

"Well, then, let's find out!" Professor Port said he turned to gesture at the three glowing red eyes surrounded by shadow shaking the three cages that trapped it. Step forward, and face your opponents!

Weiss now back in her regular attire, readying her Myrtenaster at the growling creature in the cage. Her teammates cheer her on from their seats in the front row as Kanji crosses his arms, waiting for his match-up.

Yang was raising her fist. Goooo, Weiss!

Blake was waving a small flag saying, "RWBY."Fight well!"

"Yeah, represent Teeeeam RWBY!" Ruby cheered.

Weiss lowered her sword and looked over at her "leader." "Ruby! I'm trying to focus!"

Ruby looking sheepish. Oh, um... Sorry...

"Allllright!" Professor Port said next to the cage, pulling out Blowhard. "Let the match... begin!"

The professor swings down and breaks the lock, dropping the cage door and revealing the Boarbatusk inside, which immediately charges at Weiss. She uses Myrtenaster to deflect its attack and roll to the side, readying herself for its next move. The Grimm stands a distance away from its enemy, studying her.

"Ha-ha! Wasn't expecting that, were you?" Professor Port asked.

"Hang in there, Weiss!" Ruby said.

Weiss is now speeding towards the oncoming Boarbatusk, sticking her blade straight at its skull until they meet and Myrtenaster is trapped in the beast's tusks. Weiss is still hanging on to the hilt and is tossed around as she struggles to get the rapier back.

"Bold, new approach. I like it!" Professor Port said.

"Come on, Weiss, show it who's boss!" Ruby shouted.

Weiss turns to glare at Ruby, only for the Boarbatusk to turn its head and rip the sword from her grip. Myrtenaster lands far away from its master, who is knocked back by the creature's tusks.

"Oh-ho! Now, what will you do without your weapon?" Professor Port asked.

Weiss looks up just in time to see the Boarbatusk charge again, rolling out of the way just in time to avoid getting trampled and make it crash into a desk. Weiss rushes at her sword and slides to get it back in her hand.

"Weiss! Go for its belly! There's no armor underneath." Ruby suggested.

Weiss turned to Ruby. "Stop telling me what to do!"

Ruby looks hurt at Weiss' rebuttal. Meanwhile, the Boarbatusk leaps into the air and rolls into a ball, spinning rapidly in the air and landing on the ground, consistently gaining speed until it launches itself at Weiss. It comes closer and closer, but Weiss activates one of her blue-white circles and blocks the roll, leaping up into the now-black snowflake symbol and turning it blue again so she can drive the blade into the Boarbatusk's stomach. It squeals and falls silent while Weiss gasps in relief.

Bravo! Bra-vo! It appears we are indeed in the presence of a true Huntress-in-training!" Professor Port said as Weiss stands up at attention from her exhausted position, and Ruby continues to frown. "Now, Mr. Kanji, what would your strategy be for your opponents?"

Kanji came up as he sat his yumi and katana at his seat, then he pulled up his hood.

"Release the Grimm." Kanji said.

Professor Port nodded and brought down Blowhard on the locks of the two cages, releasing a Beowolf, and it was an alpha and an Ursa

"Began." Professor Port said, but Kanji and the Alpha Beowolf stared at each other, then the Alpha growl, and then Kanji let out a loud roar.

The Alpha Beowolf then charged at Kanji while Kanji charged at the Alpha Beowolf and then grabbed the Beowolf by his throat and bite into it. Then he pushed the Girmm on the ground and stepped on it, but then the Ursa swiped its massive paw at Kanji, knocking him across the room.

The Beowolf got up, and the two Girmm stood a distance away from their enemy, studying Kanji

"Ha-ha! You weren't expecting that, were you?" Professor Port asked.

"Hang in there, Kanji," Ruby said.

Then Kanji's dorsal plates on his tail started glowing blue, then Kanji stood up as the dorsal plates on his back and his eyes were glowing blue then he unleashed his Atomic Breath on the Ursa killing it.

The Alpha Beowolf charged, but Kanji punched it in its face and delivered an elbow to the back of its head.

Then he grabbed the Beowolf's jaw and forced its mouth open, and he delivered a kiss of death firing his Atomic Breath down the Beowolf's throat, which caused the head to be detached from its body.

The body fell to the ground as everyone in the room was shocked, but Kanji let out a victory roar.

"SKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOONNNNGGKK

Then Kanji dropped the Girmm's head on the ground.

"What great power you have, Young Kanji impressive, but I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today. Be sure to cover the assigned readings, and... stay vigilant! Class dismissed!" Professor Port said.

Weiss glares and turns away, walking hurriedly to the exit past her teammates.

Jaune was watching her leave. "Sheesh, what's with her?"

The remaining members of Team RWBY look at each other with the same question.

Kanji's Pov

Weiss is still storming off, but Ruby turns a corner and manages to catch up with her as I watch the scene play out.

"Weiss!" Ruby called out.

Weiss then turned around. "What?"

"What's wrong with you? Why are you being?" Ruby asked but was cut off by Weiss.

"What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you? You're supposed to be a leader, and all you've been so far is a nuisance!" Weiss snapped.

Ruby scoffs. "What did I do?"

"That's just it - you've done nothing to earn your position! Back in the forest, you acted like a child, and you've only continued to do so!" Weiss retorted.

"Weiss, where is this coming from? What happened to all the talk about 'working together'? I thought you believed in acting as a team?" Ruby asked.

Weiss: Not a team led by you. I've studied and trained. And quite frankly, I deserve better." Weiss turns her back to Ruby, trying to reach out but dropping her hand with the following words. "Ozpin made a mistake." Then she walks away as Ruby looks dejected.

Hey, are you ok?" she looked behind her to see me. After a few seconds, she wrapped her arms around me, buried her face in my chest, and started crying. It pissed me off to see her like this! Who the fuck is Weiss to talk to her that way?! I looked down to her and she was still crying, I spoke up and said, "Hey, it's ok, please don't cry." She looked up at me with tears streaming down her cheeks and said, "Is she right, did Ozpin make a mistake?

"That remains to be seen, though I have to be brutally honest here, you are a little immature for this position." I said.

She just looked down saddened by what I said but I wasn't done talking yet, I put my finger under her chin and brought her head up to look at me and wiped the tears from her eyes and continued, "But everyone on this world including Ozpin made mistakes but this one is not one of them it's gonna be a lot of work, so with a lot of work, things can change, and trust me, things you'll have to do is necessary."

She looked at me straight in the eyes, silent, and still, I couldn't help but do the same. She snapped out of her little trance and looked down to see how close together we were and jumped back blushing and said, "s-sorry." I blushed a little as well, I smiled and said, "It's alright, I don't mind." She looked at me for a little bit and smiled. She then said, "Thank you for cheering me up."

I patted her on the head. "No problem." I said as I walked past her and added, "Now I'm gonna go talk some sense into Weiss, if talking doesn't work then I'll just have to beat the hell out of her."

"Please don't!" Ruby said worriedly as I chuckled and replied, "No promises."

I soon saw Weiss, and then I placed a hand on her shoulder and made a creepy voice.

"You want some candy, little girl?" I asked.

she screamed and back handed me and I fell down in pain and laughter and I yelled, "Fucking worth it!"

"Are you out of your mind?!" She yelled

"Yes!" I said as I got up.

"Why are you even here?" Weiss asked.

"To talk or beat some sense out of you." I answered.

"Beat?" Weiss asked.

"Don't worry about it, I promised Ruby that'll be a last resort."

"Oh, so this is what this is about." she said coldly

"Oh for Oum sake, why do you hate her so much, she's just a kid?" I asked.

"That's it! That's all Ruby's acting like, she was messing up at the initiation, she almost got herself killed, twice, and comes up with stupid ideas! She's just a small child who doesn't belong here." Weiss explained.

"What about me? I'm a child the same age as her and I don't hear you bitching about me!" I exclaimed as I was starting to get pissed off

"Oh don't even get me started on you, you're loud, rude, destructive, and reckless beyond all belief and while everyone including myself had to work hard and apply to attend here you just show up and Ozpin lets you in. You're as pathetic as Ruby!" I snapped as I grabbed Weiss by the throat with one hand lifted her off the ground and my eyes glowed blue "I WILL SLAUGHTER AND BRING DESTRUCTION TO YOUR ENTIRE RACIST FAMILY YOU TINY INSECT IF YOU EVER SAY THAT AGAIN."

Then I let her go, and she was frozen in total fear. I took a whole five minutes to calm down, but she was still frozen in fear, but eventually, she regained her senses and just looked at me.

"What are you?" Weiss asked.

"You don't want to know Weiss now listen and listen good Weiss, I know that Ruby can be childish but Ozpin chose her for a reason, and I know it's a good one, she may be reckless now, but with a little help from her teammates and perhaps a few other things, I think that she can become something more." I said.

She looked down, now regretting what she said about Ruby. I put my hand on her shoulder and said, "So clean up your act, quit being cruel, and quit being a bitch."

"Hey." she said offended, I laughed a little for a sec and then said, "You think you can do that?"

"I,... I can try." she replied

"Eh, good enough for me. Whelp Imma go to the next class to get it over with. You coming?" I asked.

"Yes." Weiss answered.

No One's Pov

The full moon shines over the green lights of Beacon, and in the room of Team RWBY, the door opens, and Weiss' shadow is seen against the hall's light. Blake is sleeping under the covers, Yang is spread out on her bed and snoring, and when Weiss lifts the blanket of Ruby's tent, she finds the occupant with her head resting on notes, a pencil in her hand, and open books all around her. Weiss, looking amazed at Ruby's determination, clears her throat and gently shakes the other girl awake, who takes a second to regain consciousness and start flailing in surprise.'

"Weiss! I-I was studying, and then I fell asleep! I'm sorry…" Ruby started to say.

Weiss places a hand over Ruby's mouth and puts a finger to her own so Ruby understands the need for lowering her voice. Weiss looks near Ruby's pillow and spots an empty Beacon coffee mug.

Weiss then lowered her hand. :How do you take your coffee?"

"I... I don't…" Ruby started to say.

Weiss getting irritated,"Answer the question!"

"Uhh, cream and five sugars!"

Weiss sighs. "Don't move." She ducks under to her own bed and comes up a moment later with a fresh cup, offering it to Ruby. "Here."

"Um... Thanks, Weiss." Ruby said.

Weiss smiles, then looks apologetic. "Ruby, I think you have what it takes to be a good leader." Weiss said as Ruby smiles appreciatively. "Just know that I am going to be the best teammate you'll ever have!" they share a smile. "Good luck studying! Then she ducks under, only to come up and point at one of Ruby's papers. "That's wrong, by the way." Then she ducks under again, and her voice comes from the doorway this time. "Hey, Ruby?"

"Uh-huh?" Ruby asked.

Weiss was standing in the door with her hand on the knob. "I always wanted bunk beds as a kid." She said then she started to close the door.

Ruby, grinning at the progress with her friend, goes back to her notes.
