The next day was Lucy's birthday. Luke had headed to church early as he and Shane were in the choir, and they would get their breakfast at church. Everyone else was having breakfast in the dining room.
Charity had started taking the kids to church every Sunday after Lynn had passed. The siblings enjoyed it a lot. But they couldn't skip church just because it was Lucy's birthday. Especially since the choir's Christmas program was today.
"Best behavior today. No fighting, no arguments, no snide comments, and no attitudes. If I find out that you're not behaving, you will be in trouble." Charity says to Kat, Ana, and the siblings.
They nodded.
After breakfast, Charity sent the siblings off to Sunday School before heading to her class with Forest as she teaches a Sunday School class with him.
All the siblings could think about was Lucy's party at the pizza place after church.
Lucy sat alone as Sunday School began.
After Sunday School was the main service, when the program would be taking place. The siblings took their seats as Sharon and Charity took out their cameras to record and take pictures.
After church, Luke ran off with Shane in tow as they were joining Stephen and his parents for lunch, then to hang out at his house.
Lucy ran off to be alone once the Louds got to the pizza place for the small party.
"This party they planned for me is driving a wedge…" Lucy says, tearing up.
Luna convinces her to open a few gifts.
With Luke, he and Shane were at Jean Juan's with Stephen and his parents.
Maggie and Haiku were there
"So when are you moving?" Haiku asked. Luke ate in silence until Stephen broke the silence.
"Sooo…I heard that it's someone's birthday tomorrow…" Stephen says, smiling straight at Luke, who smiled at Stephen.
Stephen got the waiter's attention. The waiter came up to Stephen.
"It's my friend's birthday. Bring out your nicest dessert, with candles on it." Stephen tells the waiter.
"Of course, of course! I'll prepare it at once!" The waiter says with a smile as he rushes to the kitchen. Soon, he came out. Luke gasped when he saw the chocolate lasagna with 17 candles on it, not knowing what to say.
"I love it!" Luke says. He was sad that his family wasn't here to see this with him. Stephen patted his back as the waiters sang "Happy Birthday" to Luke in French.
Lucy ditched her own party when Luan accidentally bleached her. She was humiliated again.
She saw the scene at Jean Juan's and came in just as the waiters finished singing to Luke. Luke thought of a wish as he leaned close enough to the chocolate lasagna.
He wished that his family wouldn't screw up his birthweek and blew out the candles. Lucy was just watching as Stephen and his family and Shane cheered for Luke.
Lucy ran off, ashamed. That should be her. Not them. "I deserved to be bleached." Lucy sobbed, having a bad birthday, worse than usual.
The siblings look for Lucy, but find Luke instead as he was eating his third piece of chocolate lasagna.
"Hey, Luke." Leni says. Luke smiled at Leni with chocolate around his mouth.
"Look at you!" Luna says, giggling. Luke clapped his hands and smiled at Luna.
Lucy was heading home, looking down. Kids laughed at her.
Lucy sighed. "Worst birthday ever." she says, entering the manor.
Meanwhile, Charity finds Luke, who was smiling.
"He's happy for once so we're staying here for now, then going to Stephen's house." Leni says. Charity nodded to state her approval of this.
Haiku noticed Lucy wasn't with them, looking concerned. She couldn't mention Lucy or Luke would be mad.
Lucy was at home, upset as she watched TV. Her hair was white and her dress was white. She noticed the family had decorated the manor for her, mostly the living room.
"Huh?" Lucy asked, looking at the decorations. No one was home but her. She then noticed the banner on the wall.
"Heh…" Lucy says, smiling, and decides to celebrate alone. She always felt like the odd one out. She saw the cake Luke made for her yesterday. And it was only for her. Nobody else. He always knew to make Lucy her own cake so she wouldn't have to share it.
Lucy smiled and tasted it as she choked on it. It seemed that someone messed with Luke's death by chocolate cake recipe.
She looked down and began to cry. She didn't care much for her birthday, but this day was awful. First, she gets bleached. Now this.
Forest came home and knew exactly what was going on. Luan was trying to make sure Luke was to blame for ruining Lucy's birthday so she could go to her friend's party tomorrow. She had lied about telling her friend to change the date of her party. And Luan had ruined Luke's recipe on purpose.
The family later came home and saw this. Forest then told Charity what was going on. Lucy was sniffling.
"Luan Leslie, you better start talking! Now!" Charity screamed, holding her by the arm.
"Lucy's creepy friends ruined my gig." Luan says.
"So bleaching her and ruining Luke's traditional cake recipe for her was your way of revenge. That was not nice at all, young lady. Not in the slightest bit." Charity said sternly.
"Lucy, are you okay?" Leni asked as Lucy sobbed. Sharon carried Lucy upstairs to get de-bleached.
"Words do not express how livid I am with you right now, Luan." Forest says. "What you did today was very out of line. And you're going to be punished for it."
"I hope you didn't hijack Luke's party. You already ruined Lucy's birthday." Lincoln says to Luan.
"Starting tonight, Luan, you're on dish duty. And that will repeat every night until Spring Break. And furthermore, there will be no social media or anything social for you during that punishment period. And while I'm at it, you better enjoy this week. Because after it ends, you won't be doing anything fun until Spring Break. And you will have weekend chores every weekend as well. As soon as we're done here, you can go cancel all your upcoming gigs and your dates with Benny for the next 4 months before handing your phone to your father. And you'll only use your laptop for school. I hope this was worth it, young lady." Charity says to Luan.
Lucy was soon cleaned up as Leni decided to watch VOM to celebrate Lucy's birthday. Lucy watched it with her.
Luke made Lucy her cake the right way before giving it to her as she gladly ate the whole thing.
Luan dejectedly went upstairs to cancel her gigs and dates before handing her phone to Forest.
"I hope your little stunt was worth it, young lady. Use this time to think about your actions." Forest says before closing Luan's door and going downstairs.
Luan looked down. She really screwed things up.
