Two weeks later in August, Kat and Ana came back from their vacation.
"That was awesome!" they say as a trophy hits Ana on the head.
Lucy tries to calm Luke down as he was tossing his things in anger.
"Luke, calm down!" Lucy says, stopping Luke from breaking another trophy.
Luke goes to burn his trophy, but Leni holds him.
"Stop, Luke." Leni says.
"Luke will hate!" Luke hissed. Penny comes to see Shane, but sees Luke breaking another trophy.
Lucy uses magic to stop Luke from breaking anything else.
"It's okay, Luke." Lucy says taking him to Haiku and Stephen's place for the night.
Lance and Sharon were grounding Shane for this whole situation.
He looked ashamed of what he did. He couldn't exactly look at anyone.
"You better be lucky we're letting you do your gigs! And the finals!" Lance says. "Because that's all you'll be doing for the rest of the year! That and weekend chores!"
He nods shamefully.
"We didn't raise you to be cruel. You hurt Luke and crushed his self-esteem." Sharon says. "We're disappointed in you and how you acted."
Shane looked guilty.
"Luke wants to die…" Luke says, sitting on Stephen's roof.
Lucy ran and used magic before he jumped, stopping him as their magic powers collided. They were both falling as Lucy turned them over so she'd take most of the fall and it hurt.
Haiku was horrified to see this as Luke was fine, thanks to Lucy, but Lucy was holding her arm.
Haiku healed them both. "Luke, you need help. Seriously, it's bad enough Lucy's suicidal, but you being suicidal is another level." She says. Luke walked off.
"Luke, I can't trust you to be on your own." Lucy says and calls Jeremy. "You need a therapist."
Jeremy takes Luke for a drive in his car.
"Hey, buddy, do you want to talk to me?" He asked.
"No one loves Luke. Everyone abuses Luke and hurts Luke…" Luke sucks his thumb and sniffs. "Luke is hated by everyone…"
"Luke, I know none of that is true." Jeremy says.
"It is! Shane made me a waterboy and lied about getting me back on the squad and he tried to tell everyone I hurt him when I didn't!" Luke sobbed.
"I'm so sorry to hear that." Jeremy says.
"Now it feels like I'll never cheer, never have friends, never have my family love me, or ever celebrate my birthday again!" Luke cries. "I feel like I lost everything!"
"You'll have all that, Luke. I know you will." Jeremy says, taking pity on Luke. It was clear he was afraid of Shane and Jeremy wondered if his whole family hated him.
A week later, school started back. Luke went to Oakley Academy, a bit happy that he was finally a high school senior.
Melony and Garrett came up to him as he decorated his locker with some stuff Luna gave him.
ANH would be soon. It had to be delayed to late September because Luke wasn't ready. He was a mess.
Kids booed Penny when she came in. They were chanting Justice for Luke!
At lunch, Penny left. She couldn't deal with this and ran out of the school.
"Hey, Garrett." Melony says, covered in chocolate pudding.
"What happened to you?" Garrett asked.
"Bullies. They say this is all because of that movie. They won't let it go." Melony says.
Cuphead was more popular than Mugman this year and that was saying a lot.
"How's your girlfriend?" a kid asked.
"Which one?" Cuphead asked, eating a crab meat stick.
"You have multiple ones?" Another kid asked.
Cuphead nods. "Which one are you askin' me about? I have three." He asked.
"Lucy." the kid says.
Later, Shane and Penny were demoted from being captains to being water boy and water girl as Howard wanted Luke to be the only captain this season. Luke was surprised by this.
"Really?!" Luke says, squealing. "Yay!"
Howard smiled.
Sal sent invites to his party on the 14th and made sure to invite Luke.
Shane came home depressed as people taunted him, calling him things like water boy, abuser, and liar. Kids were marching around, chanting "Justice For Luke! Justice For Luke!" Shane looked down.
Luke was the most famous person in the world again and most wanted him to win ANH this season. Others wanted him to tie with Remy and Luke would accept that as well.
Luke did his homework alone before calling Ollie.
"Hey." Luke says.
"I heard you're cheer captain. So cool! Congrats!" Ollie says.
"Thanks! I heard your birthday is on the 13th! Of September!" Luke says.
"It is! How did you know?!" Ollie says.
"I just know these things." Luke says. "How old are you gonna be?"
"18. And not a day older." Ollie says. "June turned 15 this summer in July. We went to this cool indoor water park in Tennessee that had this awesome lazy river with an amazing immersive tunnel. You have to join us next time we go! You'll love it!"
"Sounds fun! I'd love to join you for that." Luke says. "Have you started planning your birthday yet?"
"Some of it. When are we doing ANH practice? It's all right if you aren't ready to do it yet, but I just want to know when you would like to do it. I'll be down for whenever." Ollie says. "I want you to be comfortable with your scheduling."
"Next week is fine." Luke says.
