Sick
A guest asked for one of Hanna getting sick in EF in season 3 and her first time to get sick around her parents.
Hanna sat straight up in her bed. Her stomach felt weird and her mouth was all watery. She was going to puke. She quickly scrambled to the bathroom trying her hardest not to get sick all over the floor. Thankfully, she made it in time.
She slowly made her way back to her room. She thought about going to wake her parents, but she didn't want to bother them. She often kept them up at night from her nightmares, and she wanted to let them get some sleep. Hanna climbed back into her bed and pulled her covers tightly around her. She was freezing and really wished she had more blankets. She closed her eyes and tried to go back to sleep, but her stomach hurt so much, and she was so cold.
After awhile Hanna realized sleep was not coming. She sat up to see if there was another blanket in her closet, but she must have done it too quickly because before she could even stop herself she threw up all over her bed. Hanna's eyes went wide as she realized what she just did. Luckily she was clean, but the bed was a mess. Hanna took a deep breath. She was going to have to go wake her parents.
Hanna carefully got out of her bed and walked down the hallway to her parents' room. She stopped outside the door and realized she hasn't been sick since she met them. She didn't know how they were going to react. She got sick a few times at the orphanage. The workers there weren't very attentive, and Hanna was mostly on her own. She also got in trouble once for not making it to the bathroom in time. Hanna was pretty sure her parents wouldn't get mad at her, but she was still nervous and really didn't want to have to wake them. She didn't have a choice though.
Hanna opened their door and didn't even make it three steps into the room before her mom sat up.
"Hanna?" Snow reached out and turned on the light beside her bed. She saw how pale her daughter looked and noticed she was shivering. "Sweetie are you okay?"
Hanna shook her head and walked over to her mom.
Snow stood up and pulled Hanna into her arms. "It's going to be okay."
"I'm sorry, Mom."
"Don't you be sorry," Snow kissed the top of her head and released her grip. "Here, why don't you lay down."
Hanna climbed into the middle of the bed.
David finally woke up from the stirring. "Hey princess, what are you doing here?"
"She's sick," Snow told him as she sat down on the bed next to Hanna. She reached out her hand to feel her forehead. "You are burning up."
"I'm really cold, Mom."
David got up from the bed. "I'll get some more blankets."
Snow pulled the covers from the bed up around Hanna. "I'm going to go get a cool cloth to help bring your fever down. Will you be okay for a minute?"
Hanna nodded.
"I'll be right back."
As soon as her mom left the room, her dad was back with more blankets.
David put the extra blankets on top of Hanna. "Is that better?"
"Yeah. Thanks, Dad."
David sat on the bed and wrapped his arm around Hanna, pulling her close.
Hanna leaned into her dad and felt even warmer now.
"I'm sorry you're sick, princess."
Hanna shrugged. "It's fine."
Hanna heard her mom come back into the room and felt her put the cloth on her forehead. She winced at the cold. "Mom…"
Snow sat down on the bed next to Hanna. "I know, baby, but it'll help bring your fever down."
"Okay," Hanna sighed. She was so tired and didn't have the energy to fight it. She closed her eyes, but quickly opened them again, remembering the mess in her room. "Mom…"
Snow brushed the hair from Hanna's face. "What is it, sweetie? What do you need?"
"Umm…well, I…" Hanna looked up at her mom and was nervous to tell her. She watched her mom smile down at her though and felt safe enough to tell her about the mess. "I made it to the bathroom the first time I got sick, but the second time…well, I threw up all over my bed. I'm really sorry. I…I can clean it up." Hanna pulled the cloth from her head and started to sit up. She really should have cleaned it up before she came in here. What was she thinking?
"Honey, it's alright," Snow assured her. "Lay back down, okay?"
Hanna nodded and laid back down again and felt her dad wrap his arms around her.
Snow put the cloth back on Hanna's head and pulled the blankets back up around her.
"We'll have it cleaned tomorrow," David told her.
"But it's really gross."
"We don't care about that," Snow said with a smile.
"So, you're really not mad?"
"Of course we're not mad," Snow told her.
David held Hanna tighter in his arms. "It's our job to clean up after you."
"And to take care of you when you're sick." Snow reached down and kissed the top of Hanna's head.
"I'm still really sorry about the mess and for waking you."
"Hanna, listen to me," Snow said. "I don't know who made you feel this way, but you never have to be sorry for being sick. Not ever. Okay?"
Hanna nodded her head and let out a sigh of relief. Deep down she knew her parents wouldn't be mad, but there was still that small part that was afraid they would be. Now, she knew for sure that they would never get mad at her over something like this. Ever since the curse was broken, they showed her time and time again that they loved her and that they would be there for her through everything. Hanna felt so lucky to have them. She closed her eyes, snuggled into her dad some more, and finally got the sleep she needed.
