Author's Notes: Hello and welcome to my new story! If you've read other stories of mine, you'll notice that this one might be a little different. This story is going to be a more mature one, since both Lucy and Natsu and most of the characters here are basically adults (23-25 years old). I decided to give it a try and write a story with a different scenario than what I'm usually used to, so I hope you guys like it as well. I hope you enjoy it and happy reading!
I was holding my phone in my hand, waiting patiently. My boyfriend, Sting, was right behind me and he wasn't exactly patient himself.
"Is it done?"
"Wait, these things take time."
I was waiting for my CV to be accepted. I had finally the opportunity to work at one of my favorite companies in the world.
"I'm sorry if this might be the last night I spend with my girlfriend." he kissed my neck softly, "Staring at your phone isn't going to make it happen faster, ya know?"
"I know... I'm just so nervous."
"You know what I can do to help you relax?" he whispered in my ear and continued kissing my neck.
"Sting... C'mon..."
He opened up my shirt, touching my chest and I couldn't help but moan. After that, my mind went completely blank and I lost myself in his touch.
After our moment of passion had ended, I grabbed my phone again and there was... nothing.
"Ugh, why is it taking so long?!"
"Do I need to help you relax again?" he teased.
"No..." I smiled, "I'm fine, I just... really want this job."
"I know... You've been talking about it all week, how could I not tell?" we both smiled, "I'm gonna miss you, Lucy."
"I'm sure Angel will keep you company while I'm gone." I answered sarcastically.
"Really? You're acting jealous now?"
"I am ALWAYS jealous." I smiled.
Angel was Sting's best friend. Well... I'm sure she would love to be more than just a friend, but I always tried not to pay much attention to it. She was always desperate for his attention and I knew that she was jealous that he spent more time with me than with her after we both started dating. Sting and I have been in a relationship for 3 years now and things were great, I had found the love of my life in college. He was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
He was about to become a lawyer, at least that's what he always worked hard for. As for me, I wanted to become an entrepreneur. I had finally found a chance to be a part of one of the biggest companies in the world, Fairy Tail, and it was a dream of mine to get in. Unfortunately, that company was in New York. They announced a few days ago that they were thinking about opening up another one here in Japan, but that would take months and I wasn't ready to wait that long. If I got accepted, I would leave tomorrow and I wouldn't be able to see Sting or my family for a while. It was heartbreaking to me, but I knew it was the opportunity of a lifetime and I had to do it.
"I'm going to miss you too." I smiled and kissed him, "I love you."
"I love you too."
We kissed for a few minutes and I could feel tears forming in my eyes. It was hard for me to go away, it was hard for me to leave him and my mother. Without expecting it, I was startled by the sound that came out of my phone. I grabbed it and I couldn't help but smile.
"I got it! I got an interview!" I hugged Sting and he hugged me back, "I can't believe it! I can't believe one of my dreams is about to come true!"
"I'm so happy for you, Lucy." he smiled, "You're gonna be the best business woman in that company and I'm gonna tell everyone how much of a badass my girlfriend is."
"Don't be so cocky... I might be lucky enough to have a chance there, but I could never be able to reach such a high level."
"Hey..." he grabbed my face and made me look at him, "You're my girlfriend and I won't allow you to say those things about yourself, you hear me?" he kissed me.
"I'm sorry... I'm just... nervous." I sat on his lap slowly, "And since this is a time for celebration... and I'm completely anxious..." I started removing his belt, "Why don't you make me relax again?"
He smiled at me and the next thing I knew, it was just the two of us again and the rest of the world didn't matter.
At the airport, my mother and Sting were staring at me like I was going to disappear forever from their lives. They were making it harder for me to leave. My mother held her arms and I hugged her.
"Oh, my dear Lucy..." she hugged me tight, "Take care. Remember to eat well and as soon as you don't feel good, come back home to me. You hear me?"
"Yes, mom!" I laughed, "I'm going to miss you."
"I'm going to miss you too, my sweet girl." she couldn't stop the tears.
The announcer was calling for the passengers and the plane would leave soon. I kissed Sting once again and hugged him to feel his body one last time. It was time for me to go. New York was shining, even at night. It glowed so bright. The cheerful advertisements showed the latest trends in large televisions. I was static for a few minutes, staring at everything. I was really in New York. I was really one step away from achieving my dream. I took a taxi and told him the address to my new apartment, it was near Central Park. It was going to feel weird living by myself for the first few months but it was an adventure that I was more than willing to take.
My apartment was on the fourth floor. The apartment was not huge, but it was enough for me to live for the next months. It had a beautiful suite, a luxury kitchen and bathroom and thankfully, my own walking closet. The living room was in the same room as the kitchen but everything was so well furnished that I felt like I was living in a dream. I unpacked my bags and sat on the couch for a few minutes to absorv everything. I was in a new country, starting a new job and a new life on my own. I couldn't be more excited, even though deep in my heart I knew that I would miss my mom and Sting very soon. It was already midnight and my day would be full tomorrow. I would go to the building where the company was located. I felt nerves all over my body just thinking about it. My room was just as beautiful as the rest of the apartment, the bed looked a lot more expensive than I had thought. I laid down on the bed, which was so comfortable and fell asleep. I was exhausted and ready for the next day.
It was 8 am. I got up and went to the bathroom to take a shower. I dressed in a dark blue suit and carefully hairstyled my hair into a cute but professional bun. After trying to raise my spirits, I went to a bakery and ordered my breakfast.
I ordered my latte and sat down on one of the tables. On the table next to me was a girl with dark blue hair who was staring at me. Before I could say anything, she was the first to talk.
"Hey, you're... new around here, right?"
"Y-Yeah..."
"Thought so... I had never seen your face here before."
"I just moved in yesterday." I smiled.
"Oh, really? Cool, I hope you enjoy your time here. The city might be a bit crowded sometimes, but you'll get used to it in no time." she smiled, "I'm Levy."
"Lucy." I smiled back, "Thanks for the advice, by the way."
"No problem!" she got up, "If we see each other again sometime, I promise I'll show you around if you want."
"Thanks..."
I didn't know what to say. She was the first person I had met since I arrived and she was so nice. I didn't know that the people here could be so welcoming. It was getting late and I needed to head to the interview. My heart was beating fast when I went down at the station and saw the big building in front of me. It was possible to see it from a distance, right there in the station, four blocks away. I imagined that company would be big, but I had no idea how big it really was. I took a deep breath and started to walk.
When I arrived at the reception, the interior was gorgeous. It had a gigantic and beautiful fountain in the middle of the entrance. I talked to the receptionist and told her my name. She picked up the phone and spoke for a few seconds. She asked me to take the elevator to the top floor. When I got out of the elevator, a woman with light skin and white short hair was waiting for me.
"Good morning, Miss Heartfilia. I'm Lisanna and welcome to Fairy Tail. Come with me, he's almost here to receive you."
I didn't understand who "he" was, but I followed her without asking anything. As we went along, I could see a glass room, on my left, with a large table and several chairs. I assumed that's where the meetings happen. I felt my heart beating with curiosity. Everyone was on their desk working, but as soon as Lisanna made a noise that seemed to inform the rest of the people in the room that someone had arrived, they all got up from their seats and looked in one direction. I did the same and tried to understand why everyone was so tense, and when my eyes turned around, I saw him.
Natsu Dragneel, the owner of the Fairy Tail company. If I get the job, basically he will be my boss. I understood why everyone was acting like that, he was the most important person in the room and they were showing him their respect. He looked in my direction and I was expecting it. When my eyes met him for the first time, I felt so nervous that I thought I was going to faint. He was accompanied by two men and the woman who was at the elevator waiting for me joined him as well.
He was young, younger than I was expecting at least. He had pink spicky hair and was wearing a black suit. I could tell he had some muscle down there, his posture was intense. There was something about him that didn't allow me look away, I couldn't tell if it was because he was soon to be my boss and his presence was making me nervous or if it was something else, but I couldn't move or react. Without even thinking twice, I whispered to myself.
"Oh my god..."
But somehow, that whisper had caught his attention and I was speechless. The moment he laid his eyes on me I felt like I was a prey in his eyes. my legs go limp. I didn't know what to do, I felt intimidated. All I could do was look away, staring at the ground. As soon as I lowered my gaze, he started walking and I heard the wooden doors with gold around them, being closed.
That was my first encounter with my boss and I was officially afraid for my life.
I stayed in the same place waiting for Lisanna to tell me what to do next or where to go. I looked around me and the office was full of natural light, thanks to the large windows on both sides of the room. It was really a prestigious building, there was no doubt about it. I felt a chill all over my body when I realized that I was right there, that I was really about to make one of my biggest dreams come true. I was so distracted looking at the city outside that I didn't even hear the first time someone called my name. I heard Lisanna's voice and suddenly looked in her direction. She was looking at me with a serious, almost boring look and signaled with her head for me to follow her. I had no idea where to, but as soon as I saw the big wooden doors in front of me, I knew I was about to enter my boss's office. I took a deep breath and tried to calm down. After all, this meeting was going to be definitive in my career, I could not waste it or ruin it. Lisanna grabbed the door handle and opened it slowly, looking at me.
"Shall we?"
I just nodded, I was too nervous and I was afraid my voice would sound too embarrassing if I said something at that moment.
As soon as I entered the room, I was amazed by the space inside. The decor was fantastic, everything was full of rich and luxurious things. In the center was a big table where all the meetings and interviews of new candidates were held, I was now one of them. I looked to the right and there was a huge window overlooking the beautiful city outside, but as soon as I looked in front of me, my body froze. There he was, sitting in a big black chair with some luxurious touches. I had to admit that I felt quite intimated by this place. As soon as Lisanna made her presence felt and caught his attention, his eyes looked in my direction and stayed on me, which made my body involuntarily shake again.
"Sit." he turned his attention to his assistant, "You may leave, Lisanna."
She just nodded and before she left, she looked at me and something gave me a strange feeling. It looked like she was looking at me with boredom, almost as if my presence was bothering her for some reason.
I did what he said and sat in one of the chairs that was closest to me. I stayed a few seconds waiting for him to say something, but he was too busy writing on some papers he had on his desk. He raised his head and raised his eyebrow.
"You can sit closer, you know? That's what this chair is for." he pointed with his finger at the chair that was right in front of his desk.
"E-Excuse me..."
I got up and sat back in the chair he talked about. I was so nervous that I could barely make eye contact with him, but I knew that I could not show like I was weak or I would not be hired and everything I had done until today would have been a waste.
"So, you're... Luigi Heartfilia, correct?"
"Umm, it's Lucy..."
"Lucy, right. Lisanna got all the papers messed up." he sighed, "So, why are you here?"
"I... want to work here."
"Yes, that's obvious. Otherwise, you wouldn't be standing in front of me right now. My question is, what exactly are you doing here?"
"I, um... I've always wanted to work here, it's always been one of my biggest dreams since I decided to become a business woman."
"And why here? There are lots of companies everywhere. Why Fairy Tail?"
"It's one of the biggest and best companies in the world."
"And you think that's a good reason for you to work here? After all, many big companies don't exactly have a good reputation after investigating what they're really doing."
"I don't think that's the case with Fairy Tail." I tried to smile so I didn't look nervous, "I did a little research before I came here."
"Is that so?" he raised his eyebrow, "What kind of research?"
"Everything about Fairy Tail. How you- I mean... how Mr. Dragneel built this company from the start and got where he got with effort, work, dedication..."
"I did not build this company. My father did. I'm surprised you didn't realize that when people talk about "Mr. Dragneel", they're not referring to me."
"I'm... I'm sorry, I didn't kno-"
"Let's be honest." he crossed his hands, "We are not here to talk about my father or the history of the company. We are here to talk about you, I want to know what motivates you to work in this company."
"I... feel that it would be a great virtue to work in a company like Fairy Tail, all the values that it supports, I also support them and I want to learn everything I have to learn in this company... Whatever it takes."
"Really? Whatever it takes? You know that some people here can make your life a living hell... including me." he looked straight into my eyes.
"It's a risk I'm willing to take." I looked down, "I need this job, I need to work on me, on my career. I want to build my future, and I hope to start it at Fairy Tail. My family... tried everything to get me this far... I don't..." I tried to hold back the tears, "I don't want to disappoint them."
"And what can you do, on a professional level?" he picked up the papers again, it was probably my application.
"I... Nothing."
"Hmm? I'm sorry, did you just say "nothing"?"
I shook my head slowly, afraid that that answer was enough for him to send me out the same door I walked in and back home without a job.
"You came to this company... without any kind of work experience?" I nodded, "This is your first job in the area?"
I nodded again, but this time I couldn't look him in the eye. He continued a few minutes looking at the paper and at me. I didn't know what he was thinking at that moment, he probably thought I was a real incompetent and stupid enough to try to get a job at one of the biggest companies in the world. Of course I wouldn't have that job, I was very far from ever being in a place like that. After a few minutes, his next words made my heart stop.
"You're hired."
"W-What?!"
"Didn't you hear? I said you're hired." he picked up the phone on his desk, "Kagura, send Lisanna in."
"I, uh... Thank you so much!"
He just nodded and at that moment, Lisanna came in the office and went to meet him. He gave her some hand papers.
"Take care of Miss Heartfilia's hiring papers, please. Starting tomorrow, she works in this company."
"S-Sir?" she looked at him with surprise, "Are you sure?"
She said it out loud without caring that I was in the same room as her. He nodded and she just got a neutral expression and looked at me with the same look as a few minutes ago. She took the papers he gave her and left the room without saying anything else.
"You can leave now. You'll start your work in a few days. Until then, Lisanna will show you everything about the company, where you have to go and what you need to do." I got up without saying anything else and before I could leave, he spoke again, "Don't make me regret it."
I opened the door slowly and left the office. As soon as I was outside and with no one around me, I raised my arms up and smiled in an inexplicable way. From today on, I was going to work at Fairy Tail.
My first two weeks in New York were not easy. I started feeling homesick, I missed my mom, Sting and some of my friends from college. My work was not exactly hard, but it was still a bit difficult to adapt, not to mention that the small lady with the white hair wasn't exactly as nice as she was to me on the first day I arrived at the company. I could ignore her, but I knew that the reason she didn't like me was because Natsu chose me for the job and she didn't think I was qualified. It was clear to me that Lisanna was interested in him, she was his assistant but I knew there was something more to it.
It was Friday and it was not long before I finished the work that I was assigned to do and go have dinner. I needed some food. Suddenly, Lisanna approached me and stared at me with the same blank expression. She was like the devil, she was always where I didn't want her to be.
"I'm going to need you to stay a little longer today." she placed some paperwork on my desk, "I'll send you the details, check your e-mail in a few minutes."
"Umm... I'm almost off the clock." I tried to answer with a blank face.
"Well, think of it as your first extra work."
"A-Am I going to get paid for it?"
"Excuse me?" she turned around to face me.
"For the extra work..."
"Depends... If you do it well, I might. If you don't, let's just say it counts as practice and proof that you need to work harder."
She turned around without giving me a chance to answer.
"Is she... freaking serious?" I whispered to myself.
I received the work after a few minutes on the computer and started doing without delay. I just wanted to finish it and finally go home. It took me an hour and a half to be able to finish it and I decided to get some coffee before checking if everything was correct. I was completely alone at the office, everyone had already went home. Even Lisanna wasn't at work anymore, how could she even check what I had done? She just wanted to torture me with the payment thing. I knew that she hated me because of our boss, but I had done nothing to piss her off since I never even exchange a simple "hello" with him when he arrives at the office.
After I finished everything and left in on my desk to show Lisanna next week, I walked quickly down the hall and saw a shadow entering the elevator. I ran and shouted to try and reach it on time.
"Hold it, please!"
Thankfully, the person was fast enough to stop the doors from closing and I was able to get in. I didn't even notice who was inside the elevator until I was in it. I turned around and finally saw who was before my eyes. My boss... I looked at my reflection on the elevator's mirrors just to avoid eye contact with him. He was too intimidating, ever since the day of my interview I couldn't look at him without feeling chills all over my body. I didn't know if it was because he's my boss or something else. Either way, that feeling scared me. The doors closed and we were both inside the elevator alone. I tried to come up with some words to say, since I didn't want to seem disrespectful.
"Good night, Mr. Dragneel." he didn't answer, "Thank you for... holding the doors for me."
"What are you still doing here?"
Those were the only words that instantly came out of his mouth. I looked at him with a confused look before I could realize it.
"W-What do you mean?"
"At the office. Shouldn't you be at home at this hour?"
That's what he meant... For a moment, I was scared that he might've been asking me why I was still working there. I was scared that I got fired without even knowing it.
"Oh... Lisanna had some extra work for me to finish."
"Couldn't she have finished it before?"
I was suprised by his question. That wasn't exactly the answer I was expecting, especially from him.
"I... I don't know, she just... gave it to me before I could leave."
"And you accepted it?"
I was not sure what he even meant by that. I didn't know what he meant by anything he was saying to me.
"Umm... She's my... boss, right? I-I mean, after you, of course... I couldn't exactly refuse."
"Good answer, you're clever." he paused, "Yet, very submissive."
"Excuse me?"
"You shouldn't accept a simple work that's not your responsability just because Lisanna asked you to."
"I'm sorry, what- What are you saying?"
"Do you need me to repeat what I said?"
"N-No, I heard what you said, but... You're telling me to refuse orders from Lisanna?"
"I'm not telling you to do anything, you do as your heart wishes."
What did that even mean?! He wasn't making any sense and the conversation was only making me more confused than I already was. Was he mocking me? Was he really that senseless?
"I'm sorry, but unfortunately I depend on my work to survive. I don't think refusing things and getting myself fired would help."
"Why would you be fired? I'm your boss, I'm the one who decides that."
The doors of the elevator opened suddenly. We had already reached the entrance of the building. Before I was able to answer, he exited the elevator and I followed him.
"See you next week, Miss Heartfilia."
He... knows my name? He actually knows my name? I stood in the building and stared at the big windows, not even understanding what had just happened. Was he just teasing me or making fun of such a rookie like me? Everything was too weird for me to understand and I was too tired. I exited the building and started walking in my apartment's direction. When I was almost there, someone startled me and it was only a few seconds before I could realize who it was. The blue hair was enough for me to know.
"Levy! Jesus, you scared me!"
"Sorry, it wasn't my intention. I watched you walking down the street and I had to say hello before you could leave." she smiled, but frowned after looking at me, "Wow, your face looks terrible."
I couldn't help but laugh with her.
"Tell me about it... I had a terrible day at work, it was exhausting."
"Wanna tell me about it?"
"I'd love to, but I think I'm gonna head home for today."
"Aww, don't be like that!" she put her arm around me, "C'mon, I know exactly what's going to cheer you up!"
"I'm not really feeling it right now..."
"You didn't even let me finish." she smiled.
"I don't really like parties or clubs or... whatever it's on your mind."
"See? You completely failed it, I don't like that either. We're going to a simple bar."
"No... I think I need to sleep and I'll be fine."
"C'mon, Lucy! What you need right now is to relax and a really good drink." she smiled, "And also, a really good company like me."
I looked at her and she couldn't stop smiling. It was the first time I had met someone so optimistic like her. The look on her face didn't let me refuse and I didn't want to let her down.
"Fine... I'll go, but only if you order something strong."
Levy ordered another round of shots and I could already feel my head a bit dizzy. I drank it one more time and I could feel my throat burning.
"So... Are you gonna tell me what happened at work?"
"Ugh, nothing... Now that I think about it, the girl that's supervising me is just a bitch."
"Whoa, easy there!" she smiled, "What did she do?"
"She asked me to do some extra work, which is completely fine by me, but she was refusing to pay me for it."
"No! Are you serious?"
"Yes!" I drank another one, "She's just a bitter and mean person, she doesn't like me because I was hired."
"What? What do you mean?"
"I think she has a crush on our boss. She didn't want me to get hired, but he didn't listen to her. I think she hates me because of it."
"Well, I don't blame her..." I looked at her with a confused expression, "Calm down, I'm talking about having a crush on your boss. He's an eye catcher."
"Yeah, well... He's not exactly the nicest person in the world." she looked at me and waited for me to continue, "I met him on my way out."
"What?! Oh my god, what happened?"
"He's just weird... He kept saying that I was a submissive person and that I shouldn't take orders from Lisanna. How is that even possible? She's my supervisor, I can't just tell her to get the hell out of my way."
Levy just stared at me after hearing my words, and then suddenly, she started laughing. She laughed for a few good seconds and I was confused by her reaction. I knew that I was getting drunk, but I didn't know what I had said to make her react like that.
"I'm sorry! I can't... He was just messing with you!"
"Ha ha, that's not funny! I seriously think he's just a bland person."
"Oh, c'mon... You can't deny that he's not exactly a man that you can simply look away from and ignore. If you ask me, I think you were veeeery lucky."
"And if you ask me, I think you're veeeery drunk."
We both laughed. I had already lost count of how many doses we we had been drinking. I raised my last glass of the night and waited for her to do the same.
"To better and not so terrible days to come!"
She repeated after me and we both toasted.
After a very fun night with Levy, I decided it was time to go home and went outside to get a taxi. I said goodbye to her and hoped I would be able to get home safe and sound, since my head was spinning. As I waited for a taxi to appear, a man was next to me outside. He was looking at me in a weird and provocative way that gave me chills. He walked closer to me and smirked. I tried to get away from him but he kept following me. One of them
"Why are you running, cutie? I don't bite."
I started to walk away, but the man held one of my arms.
"Let go of me!"
My head was spinning and it wasn't helping. I tried to remove his grip from my arm but I didn't have enough strenght to do it.
"If you keep acting this stubborn, I won't pay you once we're done." he leaned in and smirked.
"Wha- Let go of me, you filthy!"
I tried everything in my power to remove my arm and punch him or do something that would allow me to run away from him. He was scaring me, I could smell the alcohol from his breath and it was horrible. While I was trying to fight him away, I felt another hand on my free arm and panicked. I was afraid that it could be a friend of his who was trying to tie me down. I looked behind me and the man who was in front of my eyes was familiar. I widened my eyes as soon as I noticed my boss right behind me, holding my other arm.
"Let go of her." he said with a firm tone.
The man looked at him and frowned. He clearly wasn't letting me go. I was surprised that the man didn't remove his grip from me as soon as those words came out of Natsu's mouth. The look on his eyes was enough to give me chills, that man had to be very drunk not to get scared by it.
"Hm?! Need your boyfriend to defend you now, do ya?" he looked at Natsu, "Look, why don't you let me have some fun with her?"
"Didn't you hear what I said?" he pulled me next to him and the man's grip finally left my arm. He placed himself in between me and the man, "Leave, you don't want any trouble."
The man didn't have words. He switched his attention between me and Natsu, trying to decide what he was going to do next. He mumbled something to himself that I couldn't hear and left, not leaving his eyes off of me or Natsu. I looked at my boss, who was standing right next to me without saying another word.
"Than-"
"Let's go." he starting walking without a warning.
"Wh-What? Wait! Where are we going?"
"Home, where else?" he looked at me, "That's where you were headed to, no?"
"I... I can get there myself, thank you. I'll just get a taxi."
"I see you were very capable of doing that before."
Was he serious? How was that my fault? I was wainting for a taxi to arrive and that man was the one who came up to me. Did he really think I wasn't able to take care of myself? That I was some damsel in distress? He had called me a submissive person before, what else would he call me now?
I started walking towards once I saw a taxi cab in the distance, but he held my arm and stopped me. I raised my eyes to encounter his and his eyes were sparkling. Damn, Levy was right. He was handsome and even at night with all the lights coming from the bar he was even more good looking.
"You're not going like that?"
"Like what?" I tried to remove his hand and once I did it, I almost lost my balance. I was sure that he had noticed, but I tried to pretend like nothing happened.
"Do you really need me to say?" he raised his eyebrow.
"You're my... boss. This is unprofessional."
"What is?" his eyebrow was still raised.
"You know... T-This..."
"What do you think "this" is?"
I could feel my face burning up, I couldn't even say. I was getting embarrassed and he was too relax, I couldn't keep my concentration straight and the alcohol definitely wasn't helping. It was already bad that my boss was looking at me while I was drunk only a few weeks after I got hired, but it was worse for him to accompany me somewhere like I was some kind of a needy woman.
"Don't you think it's a bit unethical to... Y-You know..."
"You think I want to fuck you?"
"W-What?!" my face was burning up, "N-No! That's not what I-"
"I'm only taking you home because if you take another step, you might colapse."
Why was I so stupid? That's what it was all about? I was so embarrassing... The alcohol was really making me act like an idiot. He was my boss, for god's sake, of course he didn't want to have anything with me. I was only making a fool of myself. He only wanted to take me home because I looked like a dumbass right in front of him and I was sure that the next day I probably wouldn't have a job anymore.
He walked over to the place where a lot of cars were parked on. I didn't have anything to say or to protest, so I followed him and as soon as I saw what was right in front of me, my jaw dropped. He opened up the door of a BMW 8i and I just stood there, staring at the car. It was beautiful, it was obvious it was his... He was rich enough to have one of those, but I just couldn't believe I was about to get in my boss' car.
"Get in."
He looked at me with a blank expression and got inside the car. I did the same. As soon as I was in and put my seatbelt on, he started driving. He wasn't exactly a slow driver... that much I could tell. I told him the directions to my house and he simply drove, without saying another word. We both stood there in silence. It was starting to get awkward, the alcohol in my body was giving me nervous feelings. I couldn't sit still next to him like it was nothing. How could he just pretend like all of this was normal? How could he act so casually?
"Umm... Thank you." I said.
"What were you doing there?"
"W-What?"
"At that place."
"O-Oh, I was... Umm... I was drinking with a... friend."
"You went drinking right after work? Is that usual?"
"N-No! Not really, I don't even like to drink that much. She just... found me on my way home and asked me to go with her."
"And you did it? Even though you don't like to drink?"
"Y-Yes?" I had no idea what he even meant by this conversation, but he was probably thinking that I was a submissive person again, "I just... had a terrible day at work and needed to relax."
I could feel his eyes on me for a second and then, he put his eyes on the road again. He didn't answer me after that, we just stood in silence again. I took the opportunity to turn my head around and look at him while he was driving. I almost regretted it immediately, the sight was too mesmerizing. He was serious and there was something about his expression that made him incredibly handsome, especially in that black suit.
A few minutes had passed and we finally reached my apartment. Something in his expression made me think that he was probably not expecting me to live in a place like this. I grabbed my bag and looked around to see if the alcohol in my head wasn't making me forget anything else. As soon as I noticed that I had everything with me, I grabbed the door and was ready to open it up, but I turned around and looked at him before doing it.
"Thank you... Again."
He just looked at me without saying anything and nodded. I couldn't tell if that was a useful answer because I couldn't even understand what he was thinking, let alone what he wanted to say. He was so... mysterious. He was my boss, it was not like I even thought that I would get to know him because I only worked for him, but there was something about him that gave me chills and it almost scared me.
I got out of the car and closed the door. He kept looking at me and I didn't want to make eye contact with him anymore, so I turned around and started walking to my apartment. Before I could place the key and open the door, I heard the car's engine starting and looked around one more time. He met my eyes again and I immediately turned around to face my apartment's entrance once again. I could feel my face burning up and I didn't know if it was still because of the alcohol. I finally opened up the door and without even looking back, I heard the car drive away in the distance.
