The legalities: I do not own any of the Expendables franchise (characters, places, and objects especially) and this is mostly au.Rated M just to be on the safe side.
Also, please don't be afraid to write reviews. I would love to hear from you all!
Hope you enjoy!
Prompt: "I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong."
She knew that she was acting childish. But Jacoba really had just wanted to have a little while where no one was bothering her and she could just relax. So, she had been knitting at her desk in the hander with her earbuds in. she knew that the rest of the team was off doing whatever they tended to do when they were between jobs, so she didn't expect any of the to really show up. It was rather relaxing to be alone.
Or, it had been relaxing. A slower song had been playing when Jacoba thought that she had heard yelling cutting through her peace and quiet. Taking out her earbuds, she frowned as the yelling got louder and she recognized both Lee and Lacey's voices. Groaning quietly, she had quickly gathered her things and ran over to Gunnar's truck (he had left it at the hanger to work on it "later"), diving into the backseat and shutting the door as quietly as she could behind her. As she laid back on the backseat, Jacoba breathed a sigh of relief and grabbed her knitting, but refrained from putting her earbuds back in.
From her new position, Jacoba could still hear the argument happening outside of the vehicle. It would seem that Lacey had gone out with a couple of her girlfriends and Lee had seen her flirting with a couple of guys at the bar. Which had, apparently, caused this fight and the two of them had been unable to keep this dispute at home.
"Lee, I don't know what you want me to say. That when I'm drunk, I won't flirt with other guys, even though I have absolutely no self-preservation when I'm drinking?"
"You know, Lace, I'd agree with you and your suggestion, but then we'd both end up being wrong."
"Ok, then, would you rather I call Jacoba every time that I want to go out? Because I can see two problems with that idea. Firstly, she can only take so much social interaction before she shuts down completely, and I know that neither of us want Gunnar on our cases if that were to happen. And secondly…"
"Yeah, yeah. The two of you together in a bar is a recipe for disaster." Jacoba heard Lee sigh heavily. "Alright, we'll think of a compromise."
Jacoba heard footsteps and peeked her head up to peer out of the window. She caught a glimpse of the back of Lee and Lacey's heads and sighed again in relief. Truthfully, she wasn't quite sure if she should be concerned about how well those two knew her or proud of that very fact. Either way, she couldn't wait to tell Gunnar about this event. That would be fun.
