[Day 123]

Twelve days passed since Maggie and Beth made it to the compound. Glenn and Jasper stayed behind at Alexandria to convince others of Rick's madness, but communication was cut three days ago, and it was making Bella nervous as well as Maggie.

Bella found Maggie likeable. She was sweet, definitely from Georgia and she was strong. Beth was still young, only eighteen, and she was frightened by the world still. But Bella liked Beth enough.

"Something is wrong. Frank missed check in." Negan said as he walked into the room. Beth was sewing something and Maggie was working on making arrows with Bella.

Maggie frowned a little. "Frank. Which one was he?"

"Mariana's husband." Beth said her voice soft.

"Oh, right." Maggie said and looked at Bella. "Do you think Rick has him?"

Negan shook his head. "Something isn't right. Something is wrong. Jasper hasn't checked in either. I don't like this."

"Me either. Maybe we should try to go and search for them." Bella suggested. "Daryl and I could try to pick up Frank's trail. When was the last communication?"

"Yesterday. He was supposed to check in this morning. Him and Tommy were working on counter traps for Rick, but I suspect that Rick is working with some people called the wolves." Negan explained.

Bella hadn't heard of the wolves before. "Are they a bandit group?"

"Yeah. I've had some run ins with them in the past, but they're usually all bark and no bite." Negan said.

Bella got to her feet. "Alright. Daryl and I will track Frank. See if we can't get a location on him and see if we can't get in contact with Jasper and Glenn."

Negan nodded. "Alright. I'll take Scott and Jeremy with me, you take Hanson and Jim." He said and blew out a breath. "Something…"

"I know." Bella said with a nod. "We'll get Frank back." She reassured and then she kissed his cheek before leaving him there with Maggie and Beth to go find Daryl.

Daryl was in the scrap yard working on setting up better targets for practicing. He looked up at Bella. "Hey, I was about to come get you. See if you wanted to test the targets."

"Maybe later. "Frank missed check in, so me and you are going out to track him down. Where's Hanson and Jim?"

"Kitchen for chow." Daryl said. "Negan coming with?"

"No he's going to a couple guys and go out another way, see if we can't cast a wider net." Bella said. "He thinks Rick is teaming up with a bandit group called the wolves."

Daryl frowned. "Alright. Well, let's get going." He said, grabbing his bow.

Jasper looked at the ropes that bound him. His head was splitting open from being cold cocked by Rick or someone but he was assuming it was Rick. He looked over at Glenn and saw him struggling with the ropes that bound him. "Glenn." He said, his voice low.

Glenn looked over at Jasper. "I'm okay. Are you?"

"Not really." Jasper muttered. "Is that Spencer?" He asked, nodding to the figure slumped over in the corner.

Glenn looked over, squinting a little and then nodded. "Yeah, looks like it. And Alice." He said and looked back at Jasper. "How are we going to get out of here. Where are we?"

Jasper looked around. "We're in some sort of…small warehouse?" He said, frowning, looking around. He spotted someone else tied up leaning against the wall. "Hey….hey you, are you awake?" He asked, his voice still low.

The person groaned a little, snarling.

"Well, that's not good." Jasper said and shifted his legs to push himself away from the snarling noise and closer to where Glenn was sitting. It was hard with both his hands and feet bound. "Can you reach into my pants."

"Dude."

"Not like that." Jasper muttered. "I have a knife strapped to my leg. Inside thigh."

"Why?" Glenn was confused why Jasper would strap a hidden weapon there.

Jasper sighed. "For moments like this." He said. "I can't move my hands very well from this angle to get them into my pants." He explained.

Glenn nodded. "Alright. Scout a little closer." He said and Jasper shifted more, his legs moving over Glenn's legs and Glenn was able to maneuver his hands a little easier. It didn't help that both of them had their arms wrapped tight against their body as well. Duct tape, like Rick was going overboard in keeping them tied up so they couldn't do much of anything. Glenn struggled, but he got Jasper's pants undone, his hands cramping a little at having to exert themselves a lot to get the pants undone. He blew out a breath and he wiggled his wrists a little more, loosening the ropes a little so he could flex his hands easier and he reached in Jasper's pants, sliding down the inside of Jasper's thigh until he found the knife strapped to his leg. Jasper had to help shift his leg a little to help Glenn get the knife loose. When Glenn got it loose and out of Jasper's pants they both sighed in relief.

"Alright, here." Jasper said and Glenn handed him the knife careful not to drop it. Jasper carefully started cutting the rope on Glenn's wrists. It was hard to do with little mobility, but he managed to get them frayed enough so Glenn could break the rest free.

Glenn took the knife then and cut at Jasper's roped until he got him free, and then cut at the duct tape on their arms and then the ropes on their legs until they were completely free. Jasper got to his feet, wobbling a little, but he steadied himself before fastening his pants back.

"Alright, go check on Alice and Spencer." Jasper said and took the knife and went towards the growling and snarling. He found another man, tied up the same way they were but it is clear the guy was killed or he died and came back. Jasper shook his head and used to knife to put the walker out of it's misery.

"They're out cold." Glenn said walking over to Jasper and looking down at the poor soul that had turned. He shook his head. "How did we end up down here?"

Jasper tried to think about what he was doing before he woke up down here. "I think it was Rick." He said and looked for an opening, finding stairs that led up. "Any weapons?"

"Other than your knife?" Glenn looked around, finding a couple pipes. "What kind of warehouse is this?"

"One with a basement." Jasper said and took the pipe that Glenn handed him and tested the weight. "Alright, let's see where we're at." He said and the two men went up the stairs.

When they kicked open the door, the top floor looked much like the basement except there were windows and random shelves scattered throughout. Boxes were on some of the shelves and then there were some machine equipment, like forklifts. Walkers were filed in some of the spaces and Jasper frowned. "Shut that back. We have to figure out where we are before we try to get Spence and Alice out." Jasper said and Glenn pushed the door closed behind them to protect the other two.

"It's dark outside." Glenn noted, and Jasper nodded, swinging the pipe and crushing the skull of a walker closest to them and Glenn followed suit.

Bella was standing in the back of the truck while Daryl drove, Jim and Hanson sitting inside the cab. It was dark out, so she flipped the spotlight on the truck and Daryl drove carefully through the sea of walkers that were coming from no where it seemed. The darkness made it hard to navigate sometimes, but they couldn't make it back towards the compound just yet. Frank was still missing, and so Mariana would give birth soon and they needed to get him back. Negan had considered Frank a close friend, and after Dwight, Bella wanted to bring Frank home.

She saw a flicker of light coming from near a warehouse in this district and she frowned, she stooped, knocking on the glass and Jim slid it. "There's a light coming from that warehouse over there. Go that way. Could be a survivor or one of our people."

"Got it." Daryl said and angled the truck towards the warehouse.

The walkers were getting thicker so Bella pulled a flash grenade from her hip and she pulled the pin on it and tossed it and the flash and bang drew the walkers towards it, clearing a better path for Daryl to drive the truck closer to the warehouse. She hopped out of the back of the truck as Daryl came to a stop and she pulled the gate that was on wheels closed to prevent walkers from coming in on them so soon. Daryl, Jim and Hanson got out of the truck, killing walkers as they strolled towards the warehouse cautiously.

Bella swung her machete fiercely, concentrating on just surviving the two dozen walkers or so that were meandering towards them.

When they got closer to the warehouse door, the door burst open and Jasper and Glenn were running out. Jasper skidded to a stop, his breathing labored.

Bella frowned and went forward, steadying him as he wobbled a little. "What happened?"

"We were knocked out and put in the basement. Alice and Spencer are still down there, but the warehouse is full of biters." Jasper explained, panting.

Bella looked at Jim and Hanson. "Find an outside entrance into the basement." She ordered and the two men moved, going towards the warehouse and circling the perimeter.

Walkers started filtering out of the warehouse doors and Bella swung her machete at them, slicing through their skulls, her arms straining as she fought hard to keep the walkers at bay. Glenn, Daryl, and Jasper helped, trying to keep up with the enormous flood of the dead.

Bella didn't think they could keep this up forever, so she whistled. "Get in the truck." She instructed and Daryl, Glenn, and Jasper filed back to the truck. Bella broke a flare stick she pulled from her cargo pocket and she shouted and took off running, pulling the attention of the herd.

"God damn it Bella." Daryl cursed as he started the truck and backed up away from the warehouse.

Glenn was shocked at Bella's improvised plan. "She can't keep outrunning them. Can you get out in front of her?"

Daryl shook his head. "Not without pulling the attention onto the truck and Jim and Hanson are still outside. Fuck." He didn't like the situation.

Jasper's heart was pounding hard in his chest. Why would she do that? Why would she risk it all? The walkie in the truck crackled.

"Daryl get the fuck out of here. I'm circling back for Jim and Hanson. I'll meet you at the backup rendezvous point." Bella's voice came through the walkie labored as she ran for her life and to keep the herd coming her direction.

"Damn it Bella, you should have got in the truck with us." Daryl shouted into the walkie.

"Not enough time. Go. Now." Bella ordered.

Daryl struggled with leaving her there, hesitating, shaking his head. "Fuck." He cursed again and he angled towards the gate, not bothering to get out to open it, he went through it.

Daryl pulled up at the rendezvous point in Glencoe, bringing the truck to a halt. The truck was silent as they all processed what just happened. He grabbed the walkie and swapped channels. "Negan." He said and waited.

"Yeah." Negan's gruff voice filled the air.

"Bella is trapped at a warehouse outside Glencoe with Jim and Hanson. We found Glenn and Jasper. Two others are trapped inside the warehouse. The entire place is overrun." Daryl relayed, his chest hurting as he thought about something bad happening to Bella. He just kept trying to tell himself that she was strong enough to handle it all.

"How did she get trapped?" Negan's voice was still rough, and it sounded like he was running.

"Herd moved in, she distracted them so we could get out." Daryl said, closing his eyes and thumping his head against the headrest.

"She fucking what?"

Jasper took the walkie from Daryl and spoke. "Listen, if she gets to high ground, she'll be alright, but it's dark out, there's no way to get through a herd of that size without casualty."

Negan was quiet for a long while. " Where are you?"

"Rendezvous point in Glencoe." Jasper said and waited a beat. "She said she would meet us here."

"Alright. Stay put. I'm heading that direction." Negan said and Jasper set the walkie back on the dashboard. The three of them were silent. Jasper felt angry with himself for letting Bella do something this dangerous and crazy, and the other part of Jasper just wanted her to come back safe.

Bella's muscles screamed as she pulled Jim up, using all her strength to get him up on the roof of the small watershed on the property. Hanson had gone down in the herd, but Bella managed to get Jim up on the roof with her. "Let me see, let me see," she said, her words rushed out as she ripped at the cuff of his pants to look at the bite. "Okay. Okay. I'm going to cut the foot off. It's the only way Jim."

Jim shook his head, his dark eyes scared. "Just leave me Bella, you should have just got out of here when you could of."

"I am not losing you too. Listen to me Jim. We're getting out of here. Got that?" Bella said, her tone firm and serious. Sweat dripped off of her. Her body felt overheated from running for so long. The night sky had clouds obscuring the twinkling stars and the moon, so she was relying on her eyesight in the dark. She stood, pulling her belt free and she used it as a tourniquet for Jim's foot and then she handed him her knife from her belt. "Bite down on the handle." She instructed and Jim took the knife and bit down on it. Bella stood again, swinging the machete a couple practice swings, her heart racing. She told herself she could do this. She blew out a breath and she swung the machete down on Jim's leg right above the bite that was right above his ankle and the machete went through his bone. She had to swing a couple more times before the foot came off. She pulled at her shirt, getting it off so she could wrap his stump tightly to make sure the bleeding would stop.

Jim was in a lot of pain, tears running down his face as his foot throbbed where the foot was missing. "Bella…"

"Shhh. It's going to be okay Jim. I promise." Bella said, smiling for him, fighting back her own tears. She ripped at the bottom of her pants to pull strips off to tie it around his stump and was satisfied with how little blood he lost. She relaxed a little and looked out at the herd that surrounded the building they were on. This wasn't going to be easy. She had a couple flares left and another flash grenade, but she wasn't sure it was going to be enough to get Jim down in time. She couldn't just leave him here to bleed out slowly because he needed his stub to be looked at, cauterized, or sewed up. She closed her eyes and sat down on the rooftop and tried to think of what to do next.
