Ouch, haven't updated this since last July, sorry. Here's a new chapter.

Episode: Dwight K. Schrute, (Acting) Manager (Season 7, Episode 24)

Dwight Becomes Acting Manager

It had been a couple of days since Deangelo had been hospitalized, one would think that chaos would happen at a workplace. But considering what this particular workplace has been through over the years. People tend to go about the workday like nothing had happened.

"We could get Deangelo flowers." Pam suggested, due to wanting to give something to a comatose Deangelo at the hospital. Dwight:

"No, you can't get flowers for someone who's in a coma. They'll wilt before he wakes up." Dwight disagreed.

"That's true." Phyllis agreed.

"All in favor of the baskets full of chocolates, teddy bears, and balloons?" Jim asked and everyone but Dwight raised their hand. Dwight:

"Wait, wait. All in favor of the knapsack filled with canned goods, chainsaw, gasoline, and emergency radio in case he wakes up post-apocalypse?" Dwight suggested and raised his hand.

Everyone was either surprised or weren't surprised when Lincoln raised his hand a little. Lincoln looked at everyone and said," What? Anything can happen."

Jim thought otherwise and said," Nope. Baskets have it."

"So as it turns out, unless you're a young child or a prison inmate, you don't need anyone supervising you. People just come in and do their work on their schedule. Imagine that - people like us allowed to sell paper. Unsupervised." Jim said as he was being interviewed.

Video then showed Darryl, Phyllis, Stanley, and Oscar are working while Andy and Ryan play on a foosball table. Lincoln was also working, but he was also reading an Ace Savvy comic.

"And yet, somehow it works. It must be because the stakes are so high." Jim continued.

The footage then showed Jim was on the phone, talking to Jo. It was also shown that Lincoln wasn't in his seat.

"Well, I really appreciate the offer, but I'm just happy the way things are. Where's Lincoln? He's in the restroom. And I don't believe he would interested either. Okay. Thank you." He said and hung up. He then looked at Pam and said," That was Jo, asking me if I wanted to take over as acting manager while they find a replacement. I told her... I don't want to mess this up, right? There's a consensus, people are happy."

Dwight's phone then rang and Dwight answered it," Dwight Schrute. Yes, I would. Thank you."

Dwight had a look as he hung up, Jim and Pam saw this, and with growing horror, they realized what happened.

"Jordan, gather my things from my desk." Dwight said to the executive assistant. He then walked into the manager's office, rubbed the door frame and then sat in the desk with a smile.

Jim had a thousand yard stare, while Pam looked at her husband incredulity and said," What have you done?"

Lincoln was shown in the background coming out of the bathroom, and he soon sat back down on his desk. He raised a brow at his co-workers/friends faces.

"What wrong with you two?"

Pam looked at her friend and asked," If Jo had asked… would you have accepted being temporary manager? After Jim declined and he hadn't said no in your stead?"

Lincoln shrugged and said," Possibly why?"

Pam motioned to the manager office, and Lincoln saw Dwight smiling, while also on the phone.

Lincoln blinked and said," Oh." He then looked at Jim and said," Next time, don't assume what I think or say? Kay, Jim?"

Jim gave him a rare look of annoyance.
