Please R & R

"Ace, we told Tegan and Nyssa we would be there by 6," Graham shouts up the stairs.

"I know that," Ace shouts down.

"It is a quarter till, you need to get your gorgeous body down here." Ace comes down in a pair of jeans and a solid purple shirt.

"Gorgeous body huh."

"You look amazing."

"And you don't look half bad yourself. This is our first outing since the promise ring."

"I know and Tegan may ask what is going on."

"What do you mean?"

"Remember how I told you I went to UNIT telling them I changed my mind about going on a mission."

"Thank you for telling me that by the way."

"I made you a promise when I slid that ring on your finger, now come on."

"You don't want Tegan making all those jokes?"

"She will no matter what."

"I know," they get in the car and drive over to Tegan's and Nyssa's.

"They're late."

"Probably too busy making out."

"Tegan."

"What."

"They love each other, yes, but can control their animalistic urges."

"I love it when you get all scientific."

"I know you do," the doorbell goes off and Tegan jumps up to get it, waiting to find out what Graham didn't tell her and what Nyssa mentioned about another surprise in store for her. She opens the door to find Ace smoothing down Graham's jacket.

"Can't keep your hands off him for one moment can you Ace?"

"She can have her hands on me anytime she wants."

"GRAHAM," Ace says.

"Come on in you two," Tegan says with a laugh. They enter the small house. "What is that on your neck?"

"What do you mean," Ace's hand flies to her neck.

"Curious there is nothing on your neck but your hand flies quickly to one side rubbing it."

"I."

"How often does Graham kiss your neck to cause that reaction?" Tegan looks closely as Ace brings down her hand and notices the gold on it. "Wait, what is this?" She snatches Ace's hand, "is this an engagement ring?"

"No it's a promise ring, within the year Graham is planning to propose."

"He is, is he?"

"He is, and I am right here," he lays an arm over Ace's shoulders.

"How are you planning to do it," Tegan asks.

"Proposals are supposed to be a surprise to those being proposed to, Ace knows it's happening but not when or how. I am planning to keep it that way."

"Can't you give us a little hint?"

"No."

"Come on," this coming from Nyssa.

"I would love to be surprised," Tegan and Nyssa watch as Ace's eyes sparkle.

"Well dinner should be ready, come on everyone. Graham, you get a break cooking."

"Ace and I go back and forth on weekends."

"Doing what."

"My god Tegan, we go back and forth about who is cooking."

"I know, I just needed to tease you a little bit more. Though there is still something you two aren't telling me." Ace looks over to Graham and they have a silent conversation with their eyes. "Come on, what is it?"

"We," Ace grasps Graham's hand, "are going to keep that between us."

"Come on."

"It's to help with my nerves Tegan."

"What, it's not like you are doing something for thousands of people." Tegan looks at Graham whose eyes have gone wide, "what are you planning?"

"Nothing."

"Dorothy," Tegan says her full name.

"Let me Honey, yes there is something happening, but to help with my nerves it is best that as little amount of people know. I haven't even told Ryan."

"Ace knows."

"Why wouldn't she? Ace has my heart, and it was her idea."

"Ace is right here you know." Graham turns and faces her and picks up the hand not holding a fork and kisses it.

"You can tell me you know I can keep a secret, though it seems like my wife is really good at it," Tegan glances at Nyssa.

"What?"

"You knew about the promise ring?"

"Only for a few days."

"You still knew."

"Tegan," Ace starts, "I wanted it to be a surprise, and besides it isn't an engagement or a marriage." Tegan looks between the two knowing that neither will tell and lets the subject drop for now. After Ace and Graham leave Tegan is helping Nyssa put away the dishes.

"You can tell me what is going on."

"Ace only told me, so I wouldn't find someone else to do what is going to happen," Nyssa says facing her wife.

"Find someone to do what?"

"I can't tell you love."

"Nyssa."

"Tegan," Nyssa looks her wife in the eyes, "you are forgetting who I learned to stick to my guns from?"

Tegan taking her wife's hand, "no, but you can tell me anything."

"I know that, but this one time, I know I can, but to help with nerves that a friend has; I won't. I know how it is to do something you never have done and how nerve wrecking it can be."

"You really care about Graham."

"He's a good friend and makes one of my best friend's happier than I have ever seen her. You didn't see her when Graham walked out of the building when she was having a freak out because of everything happening with the lawsuit."

"Was it that bad?"

Nyssa leans against the counter, "Ace is one of the strongest people that I know, but in that moment I saw a side I never want to see again. She was heartbroken that Graham thought that she wanted to slow down or break up."

"I really need to talk to him about doing that again."

"Tegan, they are a couple, you know there will be fights and one or both will hurt the other. What he needs to work on is listening to Ace when she says something like that."

"I will talk to him about that."

"No you won't, he is a grown man and has been married before so he already knows that."

"Obviously not."

"Tegan," Nyssa sighs, "they worked through it and are happy, let them be."

"I."

"Tegan, you saw them tonight."

"I did and they were very happy."

"Exactly, and how many partners has Ace brought to dinner in the past?"

"Not many."

"She has brought Graham to how many even before they admitted that they liked each other."

"Around half of them," Tegan adds with a laugh.

"Exactly, now I am tired, let's go to bed."
