Episode 3:

The Taillow of Two Friends

Tom: So many ideas for this series, so little time.

Sara: Also, a thank you to Raynos3497 for the suggestions.

Tom: Suggestions are most certainly appreciated. Also, thank you all for your support in his fanfiction work. Whether it's good or bad.

Announcer: You got that right, Tom. Either good or bad. It's still pretty good content and he's doing his best with each one. Also, Finding the Disappearances will be updated soon.

Tom: You know that right there. As for right now, are we ready to kick it?

Announcer: We certainly are.

*Ash, Misty, May and Max are on set*

Max: Do we really need Torchic out of its poke ball still? I'm still a bit more interested in looking over Pikachu. *Torchic gets agitated and starts pecking Max once again.* Ow, ow, ow. Please stop. Ow, ow, ow.

Ash: Max really needs to watch what he says.

Misty: From what I heard and am seeing. I completely agree.

May: He might have some knowledge, but not a lot.

Tom: Let's kick it. *he hits a few touchscreen buttons*

Ash and Misty get into the taxicab and it changes color before driving off.

After traveling to Rifure village, Misty Daisy, Tracey, and Sakura helped a man named Kenzo. They even found out he's the one who is the master at making the Cas Cade Badge. After assisting him and making their own badges, they start to learn the hard part of obtaining the badges, which is not just by a trainer winning them, but working hard for them.

In the end of it all, Daisy informed Misty she would remain as gym leader as Misty rejoined Ash on his journey. Hearing this, Misty was very happy, but she wanted to see how well Daisy could handle being in a battle, so she trained her for a few days. Afterwards, Tracey, Sakura and her three sisters saw her off to the Hoenn region.

After arriving in the Hoenn region, she met Prof. Birch, who gave her a ride. Then she met May and Max's mother, Caroline. It wasn't long until she met back up with Ash after meeting Max.

"Hey Ash. I'm glad to see you again." She started and she looked at May. "Not to mention, I'm surprised you made a new friend quickly." She commented with a bit of silliness.

Now the journey continues.

"A kid from Pallet Town, with a brand new world to see. Don't know what's ahead, but it won't get the best of me. There's so much to learn and battles to be won. I've advanced so far and still there's always more to come. Take a step and I'm on my way. Gonna start all over again. I wanna be a hero! (Hero!) Pokémon: Advanced! (I'm on my way!) I wanna be a hero! (Hero!) Give me just one chance. And the future will decide. If there's a hero buried deep inside. I wanna be a hero! Pokémon!"

Ash was completely surprised with seeing Misty again as he didn't expect to see her for some time. May was also surprised and felt a bit of jealousy, but Ash only felt a stir of feelings inside of him. Max, however, was completely shocked that Misty and Ash knew each other.

"Pikachupi! (Misty!)" Pikachu exclaimed excitedly as he jumped off of Ash's shoulder and into Misty's arms.

Misty giggled at him. "Hey Pikachu! It's great to see you again as well." She told the Mouse Pokémon as she pet his head and he enjoyed that with a 'pika, pika.'

Right after that, Misty approached Ash and May, but went up to May. "Hello. My name is Misty." She introduced herself as she extended her hand.

Once May saw this, she detected nothing between herself and Misty and felt that Misty was incredibly nice, so she returned the gesture, and they shook hands. "Nice to meet you. I'm May." She said in introduction. They stopped afterwards and she looked towards her younger brother. "You probably know my younger brother." She commented a bit sarcastically.

"Not my name. It's Max." he told her,

Not long after, May was sitting next to her brother and Misty and Ash were next to each other.

"So, tell us, Misty. What brings you all the way out to the Hoenn region?" May asked, smiling.

"Yeah! Last I saw you; you were becoming the gym leader of the Cerulean City gym." Ash added.

"Well, yes. I was. But Daisy, Violet and Lily returned home much earlier than I expected." She told him before looking to the others. "It turned out that the tickets that Daisy won were fakes." She informed them.

"What the. Fake tickets and you were going to be the leader of the Cerulean Gym?" May questioned.

"Unfortunately, so; and yes, I was." Misty replied to her. "So, they returned home as I was having my first challenger." She told them before she looked back to Ash. "You're probably not going to believe who it was. It was Sakura." She told Ash.

This certainly shocked Ash as he didn't know she was on her journey already. "Woah! She's on her journey?" Ash asked, stunned.

"Pi pika (Shocking.)" Pikachu agreed.

"Toge! Bri! (She beat mommy!)" Togepi added. Misty nodded.

Ash was impressed, he didn't think that Sakura was getting that strong. "Mhm maybe next time I see her, we could challenge her to a battle?" Ash asked.

"Pi pika chu! (Oh yes!)" Pikachu said.

"Toge toge priii toge prii. (I'm glad to see daddy again.)" Togepi exclaimed in excitement.

"Ever since the whole fake ticket fiasco, I'm continuing on my journey with you guys." Misty informed them.

"Glad to hear that, Mist. We'll have a great adventure once more." Ash commented.

"Same here. I'm also surprised that you were going to be a gym leader. Even at such a young age." May told her.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Misty asked.

"Well, our father is the Pettleburg city Gym Leader." May informed her.

"Yep. Not to mention, he's incredibly strong. Probably strong enough to be an Elite Four member." Max gloated.

"Max!" May exclaimed, very irritated at how Max said that.

"What! It's true." Max argued against her.

"Maybe, but that doesn't call for how you said it." May retorted.

"As for right now. I suggest we get up to our room. I'm a bit tired after today. Especially after that whole Team Rocket fiasco." Ash said to them.

"I agree. Everything that has happened has tired me out, too." May added.

"Wait! Team Rocket is here?" Misty questioned.

"Unfortunately, yes." Ash told her.

"Yeesh! I honestly though we heard the last of them from Johto." Misty commented.

"From what I can tell of them, they're pretty bad." Max stated with his arms crossed and his eyes closed.

Afterwards, they started for their room, having some conversations about the past. Misty even told Ash she found out how badges were made and possibly earned from the craftsman she went to. He was amazed when he heard this. Especially from how Daisy handled the whole thing during their time in the village.

As soon as they got to their room, they went in and they each took a shower, one by one. Afterwards, they were in their pjs and they continued to chat for a bit longer that night. Once they were ready for bed May and Misty took a bed while Ash and Max took the other bed. Togepi was fast asleep next to Misty while Pikachu was curled up next to Ash.

The following day they were up, had breakfast and departed. But May was a bit agitated with her younger brother from a small prank he pulled on her. It wasn't long after, they all got ready and started to head out.

They all started having some conversations. May was very intrigued with how Misty was set in charge of a gym before her sisters returned and Daisy resumed the duties of being a gym leader. Evan Ash and Max were having some conversations about the gyms and battles.

A couple of days later, they're now going through a forest with Max having his binoculars out as he's looking around.

"I…I don't see a single one anywhere." He commented.

As Ash, Misty, Max, and May continue towards their new destination, Rustboro City. Their adventures start in the Petalburg forest. With hopes of seeing new Pokémon.

May came along side Ash, with some big eyes. "Any chance we'll be stopping for lunch soon?" she requested.

Ash, Misty, and Max looked at her.

"But I haven't seen one Pokémon, yet!" Max complained to her.

They stopped after that as Ash looked at him. "Uuhhh…did you think you could look up and see one whenever you wanted to, Max?" Ash questioned. "It doesn't work that way." Ash informed him.

"Even Ash knew about that when he started his Pokémon journey. Right?" Misty recalled when she first met him when they started traveling.

"Once I did, I knew it would be sometime before I saw a wild Pokémon." Ash stated as he recalled when he first started off on his journey.

Max was incredibly antsy, though. "But I always heard that Petalburg Forest is so full of Pokémon, you can't miss 'em." Max retorted before he looked back to the woods. "I wonder if we're in the wrong part of the woods." Max pondered.

"I strongly doubt we would." Misty told him.

It was right there, May grabbed Ash's arm and pulled on it. "Hey! Ash. Let's eat lunch." She told him.

This caught them completely off guard. But, before she could do anything Max managed to grab Ash's other arm, accidentally pushing her back.

"No! Let's go a different way." Max argued.

"It's time for lunch, Ash." May attempted to tell him as she pulled on his arm.

Max pulled back. "Not until we see Pokémon." He retorted.

They each pulled on his arms a few more times. May wanting lunch as Max wanted to find Pokémon.

"BOTH OF YOU, STOP IT!" Misty yelled at them for their immature behavior.

This gave Ash a second to catch his breath before he looked at each of them. "I AGREE! NOW STOP TALKING, THE BOTH OF YOU." Ash shouted at them before he calmed his nerves even more. "We'll stop for a quick lunch break, and then we'll decide which way to go after that." He told them in an angry tone.

This pleased the siblings with a 'Yeah!' from May and an 'Alright!" from Max.

"Lunch time!" Ash exclaimed as he sat his backpack down on the same rock as they each sat on a rock. May was a short distance from her brother as Misty was to the left of Ash. "We needed a break anyway. Besides, we'll have better luck hunting Pokémon on a full stomach." Ash told them.

"You got that right Ash. We all could use something to eat." Misty added.

"Well, I guess I was getting kinda hungry." Max commented.

"I'm so hungry I could eat a Tauros." May commented as well.

"I'll admit. I'm hungry enough to where I can eat a Stantler." Misty added in with them.

From there they each giggled until they each realized they didn't have any lunch. Especially from the food they grabbed up from a couple of days ago.

"Please don't tell me!" Misty exclaimed.

"Oh man. I can't believe this." Max sated.

As they came into realization, Pikachu went into Ash's backpack and grabbed a small container of Pokémon food with a 'Pika! (Yes!)'

"I'm surprised, Ash. As the professional traveler, I thought you would've had the food." May commented, but then she looked to Misty. "What about you, Misty?" May asked.

Misty sighed in defeat. "Unfortunately, no. I though Ash would've grabbed up enough food for more than a couple of days." She told her.

"Hey, don't look at me. I told May we needed more supplies. We only had enough for a couple of days." Ash informed Misty.

"I'd say you both have a point." Max stated.

"You're right. I messed up." Ash stated.

"I did as well." May added.

"I'd say we all did." Misty said in agreement.

"Piii-kachu. (Allllright!)" Pikachu exclaimed happily as he opened the container.

Misty looked up at him. "Luckily enough, Pikachu has some food." Misty acknowledged.

"Toge toge. (I'm hungry mom.)" Togepi said.

"Huh? Oh yeah. Hang on." Misty stated and sat her baby on the rock. Pikachu started to share his food with the baby until he realized his container was empty.

"PIIKKAAAA! (NNNOOOOO!)" he said with a lot of shock.

"I guess we're out of Pokémon food, too." Max said sullenly.

"I'm sorry, Pikachu." Ash told his companion.

"Oh jeez! It's we're out of everything." Misty said sullenly as well.

"I know that right there. It's too bad Brock didn't come along with us." Ash commented as he leaned against the rock.

"No kidding. I could go for some of his cooking." Misty added. May and Max looked at them both, very confused, asking who he was.

"A friend we were travelling with before." Ash told them as he and Misty recalled how much Brock cooked. "He knows lots about Pokémon." Ash told them.

"Not to mention food." Misty added.

"You know that right. He most certainly knows how to cook, too." Ash replied.

Ash was drooling as he remembered Brock's cooking until May pulled Ash's hat over his face. "Hmph. Well, I'm so sorry I'm useless compared to him." May scolded Ash.

"Hey, he wasn't saying that." Misty told her defensively.

"I'm sorry, but that's how it sounded." May retorted.

Elsewhere, in a nearby location. "I sense some discern amongst the new friends." A male voice stated as he observed them eating what looked to be a sandwich.

"Poor things are cranky because they're out of food. Also, isn't that the original twerpett?" A female voice questioned as she observed too.

"Yeah, she most coitanly is. Since they're all hungry, we strike while the stomach is grumbling, that's what I say." A third voice said encouragingly. "Come on, let's pinch that Pikachu." He stated. It was Team Rocket as they wear hiding right behind a tree stump.

"Waaabafett! (IIIIII aaaaagree!)" Wobbuffet agreed.

"No thank you." Jessie and James said in unison.

"What's your problem?" Meowth demanded.

"I'm still eating." Jessie informed him.

"Meowth, were you born in a barn?" James questioned. "It's terrible manner to simply get up and leave in the middle of a meal." James said a bit mockingly. Wobbuffet said his usual line, but Meowth was very agitated.

"There's nothing wrong with being born in a barn!" Meowth retorted.

"I need food." Max complained until he grabbed his backpack. "Soo." He began as he reached in.

"Hey. What have you got in there?" May asked with pleading eyes.

Max pulled out a small box with chocolate on it and Ash gasped. "Chocolate cookies!" he stated in excitement.

"Oh yes. Nothing better than something sweet to tie us over." Misty stated.

"Of course, you're gonna share with your sister?" May requested.

Max sadly pulled out one from the box. "Only one." He informed them.

The three of them did a slight anime fall. "Only one?" they all said sullenly in a disappointed tone.

"I'm sorry. It's my emergency stash." Max informed them. Something nearby heard this as its eye opened.

"So if we split it…we can each get a biiii…" That's when Ash noticed it. "Four of us." Ash acknowledged, a bit sadly, but he thought of something. "I'll share my half." He stated as he looked at Misty.

"Share your half with me?" she questioned. Right before Ash could respond, that same something came out and took the chocolate cookie swiftly with a 'Taillow. (Thank you.)' it said.

They were very confused and they looked in the direction it flew into screaming 'Taillow' a couple of times.

"Yeah! I finally found a Pokémon!" Max exclaimed excitedly as they all chased after the Pokémon.

"It stole our chocolate." May stated.

Right behind them were Ash and Misty, trying to catch up. "What is that Pokémon?" Ash questioned.

"Whatever it is, it's incredibly fast. That's for sure." Misty commented as she carried Togepi with her.

"It's actually a Taillow." Max informed them.

"Taillow?" Ash questioned.

"A Taillow?" Misty questioned as well.

Ash pulled out his poke dex and flipped it open to scan the bird. It gave off a beep. "Taillow. The Tiny Swallow Pokémon. Taillow has fierce personality. Never backing down, even against the most powerful opponent." The poke dex informed him.

"It forgot to mention how fast it was. Also, does that thing sound like me?" Misty questioned.

"I'd say not to worry about it." Ash told her.

"GIVE BACK THAT CHOCOLATE." May shouted at the Tiny Swallow Pokémon.

"Careful, May. When there's one Taillow, there's always a whole flock of 'em." Max warned her.

"I feel like you shouldn't have said that." Misty commented.

Not too far away, the same Taillow that took their chocolate had landed as it was eating the cookie. Enjoying each bite. As it was about to finish, Ash, Misty, May, and Max caught up to it.

"Give us back that chocolate, you robber." May demanded. Yet, Taillow didn't even care as it was about to eat the final piece. "I WANT IT BACK! GIVE IT BACK!" May shouted, very irritated and hungry still. Yet, Taillow ate the final piece and May balled out crying. "It ate the whole thing." She whined still as streams formed on her face.

Misty was getting very irritated with May at this point, and she went over to her, put down Togepi and grabbed her by her arms. "GET AHOLD OF YOURSELF, MAY!" Misty exclaimed as she shook her.

"Oh wow. I guess that Taillow must've been hungry." Ash commented.

"Yeah. I wonder if my chocolate cookie filled it up." Max wondered as Misty stopped.

May slumped down, feeling a bit bad for her behavior. "I'm sorry. I know we're all hungry, but Taillow…" "I know what Taillow did, but that doesn't call for whining." Misty scolded her, trying to get her mind on track.

From there, Taillow blew air out from its mouth after swallowing. "Taillow! How did you like my chocolate?" Max asked.

"Taillow Taillow. (It was delicious.)" the Small Quail Pokémon complimented.

"Glad you enjoyed it." May said, very irritated.

"Don't worry May, I'm sure we'll get food in the next town." Ash told her, trying to help encourage her.

"Ash is right. It might take us some time, but we'll get food really soon." Misty attempted to reassure her.

"Pikapi! (Ash!)" Pikachu exclaimed as he pulled at Ash's pants leg.

"Yeah?" Ash asked his partner.

"Pika! Pika pika. (Look! There are apples.)" Pikachu told him.

Misty barely understood him, but saw what Pikachu saw. "Oh wow!" she exclaimed.

"Guys! These trees are full of fruit." Ash acknowledged.

"No kidding. Forget about Taillow taking that chocolate. We have plenty of food right here." Misty added.

"We've been saved." Max stated.

"Watch out tummy, here it comes!" May added.

"Pikachu. Help us out and knock down some of that fruit." Ash requested very determined.

Pikachu unleashed a Thunderbolt and some of the apples fell out of the trees. Unfortunately, their victory was short lived as more Taillow grabbed the apples in midair.

"Oh no. Again?" May whined.

That's when all the Taillow made a formation after grabbing the apples.

"This is bad. I think they're angry." Ash stated.

"What's up with these Taillow?" Misty questioned.

"It looks like their about to attack." Max commented as he briefly observed them.

"Why would they even want to attack us?" Misty pondered.

"I agree with Misty. They got their fruit back, so what's the problem?" May pondered as well.

That's when Misty realized it. "Uh oh. I think I know what the problem is." Misty told them.

"If you're thinking what I'm thinking. We might be in the middle of their territory." Ash pointed out.

"If that's the case. I think they're made because we were about to eat some of their apples." Max acknowledged.

"Uh…what should we do?" May asked them.

"Possibly one thing to do." Misty told her as she kept Togepi close.

"Is it for us to try and to apologize?" Ash asked.

"You know that won't work." Misty told him.

That's when the Taillow began their attack and Ash stood defensively in front of the three of them.

"Ash! Misty! Can either of you do something?" May pleaded.

"Pikachu, Thunder Bolt." Ash commanded.

"Piiiikkaaaaa-CHUUUUU! (Heerrreeee GOEEESSSS!)" Pikachu exclaimed and he hit a bunch of Taillow which made them fall.

"Wow. That was close." May stated.

"Too close, if you ask me." Misty added.

"Lucky for us. Electric Attacks are so effective against flying Pokemon." Max stated.

"That'll keep 'em down for a bit." Ash stated.

Right after he said that, the Taillow began to get up slowly and they weren't too thrilled about that.

"That was too soon, Ash." Misty told him, worry in her voice, holding Togepi even closer still.

"Oh man. I'm surprised they're still able to move." Ash commented.

"But how could they have recovered so quickly." Max questioned, heavily.

They came right at them once again. "Pikachu! Thunder Bolt 'em." Ash said to his partner once again.

"Piiikaa-CCHHHUUUUUU! (Got IIIITTTTTT!)" Pikachu said as he unleashed another Thunderbolt. Despite the critical hit, the Taillow managed to break free. Pikachu was completely shocked once again and the Taillow got into another formation.

"It didn't affect them." Ash stated.

"How is that possible?" Max questioned. "Pikachu scored a direct hit." He stated.

"Wait! Ash. Remember what the pokedex said?" Misty inquired from him.

"Oh yeah. Taillow are fierce, and they won't back down. No matter how strong the opponent." Ash recalled.

That was when TR came up from behind a bush.

"Those Taillow are fantastic, aren't they?" Jussie said in admiration.

"Bold and courageous, just like us." James added.

"And they have a knack for locatin' chocolate cookies." Meowth commented.

They then faced each other.

"Just think of the power we have if the Taillow were on our side." Jessie told them.

"Catching Pikachu would be easy, with a flock of them." James added.

"It'll be a fetha in our cap." Meowth claimed as Wobbuffet came up in front of them, saluting, saying 'Wobbuffet'.

Pikachu unleashed another Thunderbolt, hitting the same one who ate the chocolate cookie, but it recovered quickly, not caring about the damage. Both Misty and May recognized something about that one.

"You know. I bet that one's the leader." May pointed out.

"I'd say you're right on point, May." Misty acknowledged.

"Well, the chocolate mustache on its beak is also the one that started this." Max added.

Taillow screeched as it flew in towards Pikachu. "Watch out, Pikachu." Ash warned. Pikachu jumped out of the way in time as Taillow attempted an attack, but it flew right around and made a direct hit and started another attack.

"Thunderbolt, now!" Ash called out.

"Pika CCHHUUUUU! (Here GOOOEEESSSSS!)" Pikachu exclaimed as he unleahsed another Thunderbolt, directly hitting the same Taillow again, but it broke free, not giving in.

"Pika! (Seriously!)" Pikachu exclaimed.

"No way." Ash stated.

"Unbelievable." Max added.

"They're closing in on us, Max." May stated.

"Seems like I'll have to…" "FORRETRESS! EXPLOSION." A very familiar voice ordered.

From there, a very familiar Pokémon to Ash and Misty appeared right in front of them, glowed in a bright light and exploded, causing all the Taillow to retreat.

"What the…no way." Misty stated, now covered in a bit of ash.

"You know it. It's Brock." Ash acknowledged.

Brock merely looked behind himself with the corner of his eye, as he smiled showing his teeth and they gleamed a bit.

WHO'S THAT POKEMON?

IT'S MISDREAVOUS!

It didn't take long until Brock had managed to get them all out of the forest as they were now next to a stream. "You'll be much safer outside of the forest." He informed them.

"Thanks Brock. We were lucky you came by." Ash commented.

"Well, you should really thank Forretress." Brock told Ash as he showed its poke ball. From there, he knelt to Pikachu's level. "It's good to see you, Pikachu." Brock told him.

"Pika pika. (Same to you.)" Pikachu replied happily.

"Looks like you got hurt a little bit, huh?" Brock acknowledged. Pikachu looked over at his arm, noticing the slight injury. "Here." Brock said as he sprayed some Potion on him. Pikachu whined a bit from the stinging, but Ash, Misty and Brock knew he'd be alright.

"So, Brock, what are you doing out here? I thought you were going to go home?" Ash asked him.

"I did go home and everything is fine, so I decided to come back out." Brock told them. "Then Prof. Birch told me you were heading to Rustboro City, so I decided to come out here and see if I could find you." Brock told him.

"Hey, does that mean we're going to travel together again?" Ash asked excitedly.

"Yeah! If you don't mind." Brock requested as they shook hands. But after that he looked to Misty. "Although, I'm very confused when I saw you." Brock said to Misty. "I thought you were needing to take care of the Cerulean Gym?" he questioned her.

"Well, yeah. I was going to take care of it. But my sister found out they had fake tickets and they had to come home incredibly early." Misty informed him.

"Still. I'm surprised you're not taking over the gym." He said to her.

"Well, after we obtained some new Cascade Badges - don't ask on that one – Daisy told me to continue on with my journey after my battle with Sakura." She told Brock.

"I guess a lot went on then." Brock replied. "As for with Sakura. From my understanding now, she's on her own journey?" he asked.

Misty giggled a little. "Yep. She's doing a great job from what I can tell." Misty replied to him. "Since you're now joining us. It'll be just like old times." Misty said to him.

"Not to mention, with new traveling companions. This is May and her little brother Max from Petalburg city." Ash told him as he introduced them. "This is mine and Misty's friend, Brock." He introduced them. "He's training to become the world's greatest Pokémon breeder." He added on.

"High there." May said to him.

"Hello. Nice to meet you." Max said as well. "It's cool being a breeder, huh?" Max asked.

"Yeah. But I still got a lot to learn though. But hi." He told Max.

Ash and Misty then went up to him. "When we first met Brock, he was the gym leader in Pewter City." Ash informed them.

"Wow! You were?" Max said in amazement.

"Hey, our dad's and gym leader too." May told him.

"Yeah. May and Max's father is the gym leader in Petalburg City." Ash told Brock.

"I'm sure you guys want to become gym leaders, too." He assumed.

"Hmm. I don't know about that." May retorted. This caught Misty's attention as she thought May was traveling to obtain gym badges.

"I don't even have my first Pokémon yet." Max replied sullenly.

"Don't worry, Max. That takes time." Brock reassured him.

"Brock is right. It takes time until you're old enough. How old are you, though?" Misty questioned.

"I'm only seven. It'll be while until I'm eight." He told Misty.

"Yeah, it'll be a while, but you still have plenty of time. Don't worry. You'll be there before you know it." Brock managed to assure him.

"Okay." Max replied, still a bit disappointed.

Brock got back up to look at Ash. "It's also why I left most of my Pokémon at home. So they could practice." He informed Ash.

"That's cool." Ash replied.

"Great idea, Brock." Misty commented.

"Forretress' Explosion attack was really cool." Max told Brock.

"Hey, thanks." Brock simply replied.

"Is it true…" May started, but Brock looked at her a bit confused. "That Ash said you're a really good cook?" May pried, a bit skeptical as she touched her fingers together. Brock only gave off a 'hmm' which May took as a yes. "Then how's about a little sample?" May requested.

"I don't know who's worse. You or May." Misty said to Ash. Ash looked at her, a bit confused. "She's clearly thinking on her stomach." Misty told him.

"Alright. Let's have some lunch." Brock told them.

It wasn't long until he had realized that the food he had earlier was now gone and that freaked him out a bit. "Aaaahhhh…they're gone. I had four or five sandwiches in my backpack." He cried.

"Nnooo." May said in worry.

"Brock, is it possible that you ate them already?" Max asked.

"I strongly doubt he has that much of an appetite." Misty inquired.

"No. I was just about to eat one until I heard the Thunder Bolt and ran to see if it was Pikachu." Brock replied in a panic still.

"So, they disappeared during the battle." Ash acknowledged, knowing the Taillow are pretty sneaky.

"They're pretty good if they can pull something like this." Misty added.

"Then the other Taillow ate them, probably." May acknowledged as well. "I'm so hungry!" she exclaimed sullenly, her hand over her stomach.

"I'll admit, I'm pretty hungry after all that as well." Misty confirmed sullenly as well as her Togepi was whining.

"Toge toge toge. (I'm hungry mom.)" Togepi whined to her.

"I know, sweetie. This is hard on all of us." Misty told her little baby.

Ash went on over. "Is Togepi all right, Mist?" he requested.

"Yeah. She's just pretty hungry is all." Misty replied to him softly as she rubbed Togepi's head.

"Well, Taillow do travel in flocks, looking for food and then devour whatever they come across." Brock informed them as he investigated an empty rice bag. "As you probably noticed, they're very territorial and pretty aggressive. So other Pokémon usually run and hide whenever they hear a flock of Taillow coming." He added.

"Sounds like Taillow cause a lot of Problems for both Pokémon and trainers." Misty pointed out.

"Yeah! That explains why we couldn't find any Pokémon when we first got to the woods. Huh!" Max stated.

"Not to mention that the flock was trying to attack us when we were just trying to get some apples out of those trees." Ash added. From there they heard May's stomach a bit more than Misty's.

"Okay! How about I rustle up some stew." Brock suggested. Both Max and May very ecstatic, knowing they'd have some lunch really soon. "Pikachu and Togepi's first. How does that sound?" he requested. Both Pokémon gave off a lot of glee hearing this.

"Good thing Brock showed up when he did." Ash said to Misty.

"I am too. I'm for sure if we would've made if he didn't." Misty told Ash then she looked at him. "Hey, Ash." She requested.

Ash looked to her. "Yeah, Mist?" he asked her.

'He keeps calling me Mist? He's only said that one time and that was a while back.' She thought to herself but got back to the question. "I was wondering. Were you actually going to share that little bit of chocolate with me?" she asked him.

He then faced her with a smile. "Of course, Mist. I didn't want you to go hungry either." He told her.

She gave off a slight giggle and kissed his cheek. "Thanks, Ash." She said to him and he blushed immensely from that as she joined back up with the others.

'I wonder what that was for?' Ash asked himself before he went over as well.

As Brock was starting to make them some stew, the Taillow were flapping above a giant hole in the ground where Forretress had exploded. They didn't know what had occurred previously.

"Calling all Taillow." Meowth said to them. Hearing this they looked in the direction of Team Rocket.

"We come bearing gifts." Jessie informed them.

"Yummy sandwiches." James stated. (so that's where those went)

"Wobbuffet! Woooobbb! (Come on! It's all yours.)" Wobbuffet tempted them.

"They're yours to chow down on but foist we gotta talk. Make a little dealio." Meowth informed them.

Yet the Taillow only gunned in for the food which freaked out Team Rocket. They accidentally dropped Brock's sandwiches and the Taillow started to chow down.

"Or you could eat foist, and then we'll talk." Meowth said as he was very stunned.

"Woooobbuffet! (Aaaaagreed!)" Wobbuffet agreed as he still saluted.

"Oohhh, I still thin we should've saved one to eat ourselves." Jessie mentioned, worriedly.

"A rumbling tummy is a small price to pay to capture a Pikachu." James retorted with a lot of confidence.

It was then they finished eating and constantly said 'Taillow'. "They're sayin' they want some more." Meowth translated.

Both Jessie and James were completely shocked. "Do you feather brains think this is a restaurant!" James exclaimed.

"That fine." Jessie told them before she got down to business. "But…you'll have to do something for us." She told them. From there they looked very confused as they said 'Taillow' in unison.

Back with Brock, Ash, Misty, May and Max, Borck had managed to make a stew for them. "Just a little bit longer, now and it'll be ready." He informed them. "Huh?" he questioned as Ash and May were drooling over what he was cooking. "Guys! You're drooling on me." He told them as he felt a tad uncomfortable.

"Oh boy. Not only do we have one bottomless pit, but two." Misty commented a bit annoyed with a sigh.

"Yep. That's how my sister is." Max remarked.

That was when they heard some flapping and they all looked to where it was coming from and they saw the same Taillow from before.

"Wha! Oh no! It's that same Taillow." Ash exclaimed.

"What's it want now?" May questioned.

As the Taillow landed, it began talking to Pikachu, wanting to challenge him.

"Can you tell what they're saying?" Max asked.

"That Taillow came back here to fight." Ash informed them.

"How come?" May requested from him.

"I think I know why." Misty stated.

"I thin I do too, Am I right, Pikachu?" Ash asked his companion.

"Pika! (You're right!)" Pikachy stated.

"Alright! We accept." Ash told Taillow.

"Whoa! What?" Max said worriedly.

"I don't get it." May told Ash. "What's the point?" she questioned.

"I guess Taillow wants to prove which Pokémon is the best." Brock commented.

"You're at least half right, Brock. But I think there's a bit more to it than that." Misty added.

"I know you're probably right on that one, but don't forget. A strong opponent always wants makes Taillow want to battle." He confirmed. "I'm guessing it wants a clear winner in the battle it wants with Pikachu." He told them.

"This is nuts." Misty said to them, but she looked at Ash. "Are you going through with this?" she asked him.

He looked to her as well. "What other choice do I have?" he asked her.

"Just be careful. I have a strong feeling this won't be like your previous battles." She told him.

"Don't worry. I got this." Ash reassured her before he looked back to Pikachu. "Alright, Pikachu." Ash told him.

"Pika. (Right.)" Pikachu replied before he jumped in to begin the battle, landing on a stone in the middle of the river.

"Taillow? (Ready?)" Taillow asked bluntly.

"Pika! (Ready!)" Pikachu told him.

"Let's do it!" Ash called out with a lot of hype.

Taillow started coming in at a fast speed. Attempting to confuse Pikachu with some maneuvers. "Pikachu! Quick Attack." Ash called out. Pikachu did as Ash told him and went from rock to rock and nearly managed to hit Taillow head on, but Taillow narrowly avoided the attack.

"What the… No way." Misty stated.

"Even so. How could it have dodged that Quick Attack? First attacks are almost never off target." Max told them.

After landing on another rock, Pikachu jumped from rock to rock, avoiding Taillow's attacks. "But Taillow can fly and Pikachu can't. A clear advantage." May said worriedly.

This didn't worry Ash as he knew how well Pikachu could fight. "Pikachu. Use Thunderbolt." Ash told him.

"Pi. PikaCHHHUUUU! (Right. HEEERRREEEE!)" Pikachu called out as he zapped Taillow. Even after the flying type fell, it recovered and went in for Pikachu, but Pikachu managed to dodge another attack.

Taillow managed to maneuver himself for another attack and Ash carefully watched. "Wow! That Taillow is awesome. It just won't quit." He complimented.

"Ash. Remain focused. That Taillow might be awesome, but it's not going to give in so easily." Misty reminded him.

"Right! Gotcha." He replied to her, but when he looked back at Taillow and Pikachu, Taillow had managed to grab Pikachu by his tail and lifted him. From right there, Pikachu unleashed another very strong Thunderbolt.

"It isn't working, Brock. How come?" Max questioned.

"Misty and Ash are right. That Taillow won't give up so easily." Brock stated being very worried.

From there, Taillow tossed Pikachu right into the water. "Well, we aren't about to give up either." Ash stated.

"You might have to Ash. Or end this battle quickly." Misty informed him.

Pikachu resurfaced and Taillow began coming in hot. "You might be right on one of those, Misty." Ash acknowledged. "Pikachu, time to finish it off with Thunder." He told him. From there Pikachu started to use Thunder but ran with it towards Taillow and they both collided, making an explosion. From that, a very large wave was made and both Pokémon were still standing.

"Wow! It won't back down." May stated as she was getting very concerned for Taillow.

"But it's a flying type. Electric attacks should've finished it." Max stated.

Yet, Taillow wasn't done as it was ready for another attack.

"It still wants to battle." Ash stated.

Misty knew this was going too far for that Taillow. "Ash! You best catch it before it does something it's going to regret." Misty alerted him.

"I agree. You should put an end to this battle before you do it anymore damage." Brock urgently warned him.

"Right!" Ash exclaimed as he grabbed his poke ball and clicked the button to enlarge it. "Alright! Go, poke ball." Ash called out as he threw it. From there it hit the Taillow and landed on a rock. It shook briefly, which felt pretty long, with everyone highly anticipating to see what would happen. The red light finally turned off as it stopped shaking.

Right after Ash released Taillow and it was panting HARSHLY! Having used up all its energy in that battle.

"Oh wow! Poor little guy." Misty stated.

"I agree, Misty. It's exhausted from its battle," May added.

"It's okay now. Calm down." Ash reassured his newly caught Pokémon.

Brock leaned over and sprayed it with some potion and Taillow freaked out a bit. "A shot of that and some rest, and you'll be as good in no time." Brock told the Tiny Swallow Pokemon.

"I'll admit, you're incredibly stubborn in battle. That's for sure." Misty commented as she put her hands on her hips.

Tailow then looked at his own wings, wondering what had just happened until Ash leaned down. "Well, Taillow. How about hittin' the road with our group?" Ash requested.

"Tai-llow! (You got it!)" Taillow exclaimed very happily.

"Alright then, we're glad to have ya." Ash replied as he cleaned off his beak with Misty's handkerchief. Misty saw this and smiled. Even though it hasn't been long, she's glad to see he still has her handkerchief. "Go ahead and climb on." He told his new companion as Taillow now perched himself on Ash's shoulder.

"Taillow. TAILLOW! (Yes. READY!)" Tailow announced excitedly.

"Hi. My name's Max." Max said in introduction.

"Nice to meet you." May said very nervously as she hid behind Brock.

"There's no reason to hide, you know." Brock attempted to reassure her.

"I'm not hiding." May said as she still hid behind him. "I'm just introducing myself gradually." She

"Glad to have you on the team." Misty told him as she pet his head, which Taillow enjoyed.

"Same here. You're my very first Pokémon here in the Hoenn region." Ash informed him. "Yeah! I caught a Tailow!" Ash exclaimed happily as he gave off his pose and peace sign.

"Pi pikachu. (All right.)" Pikachu stated happily.

"Taillow! (Oh yeah!)" the Tiny Swallow Pokemon exclaimed.

Misty giggled at this. "Still the same Ash." Misty commented.

But then, something caught Taillow's attention. "What is it?" Ash asked him.

That's when thye all saw the flock of Taillow appear over the trees. "What the…? You've got to be kidding me!" Misty stated.

"That's flock again." Max stated.

"Still after us?" May questioned.

Pikachu got into position for if anything was to happen. "Whoa! Don't tell me they all want to battle Pikachu." Ash said, very worried if they did.

"It is a possibility." Brock added.

"They better not be. That's just too many for Pikachu to even handle," Misty told them.

That was when Ash's Taillow knew what to do and flew up to them to try and get things settled. Unfortunately it didn't seem to be working.

"You won't talk 'em out of it, Taillow." Meowth warned. Tailow looked in the direction of Meowth, Jessie and James.

"Who's that?" May questioned.

"It's those bad guys again." Max pointed out.

"It's Team Rocket." Brock stated.

"It's them, all right." Ash confirmed.

"I was so hoping that they weren't serious about them being back." Misty commented, pretty annoyed.

Team Rocket then took their positions on a nearby rock for their "motto."

"What do you want?" Ash demanded.

"Some things just never change." Brock stated.

"This is still very annoying." Misty added in.

"Prepare for trouble, in the skies." Jessie said to them.

"Make it double, then say goodbye." James chimed in.

"To protect the world from devastation." Jessie continued.

"To unite all peoples within our nation."

"To denounce the evils of truth and love."

"To extend our reach to the stars above."

"Jessie!"

"James!"

"Team Rocket, blasting off at the speed of light."

"Surrender now or prepare to fight, fight, fight."

"Meowth! That's right."

"Wooobbbuuuuuffet."

"I'd say that you all have met the new flock of Tailow. The newest members of the elite Team Rocket fighting force." James said a bit mockingly.

"No way!" Ash exclaimed.

"With the fearsome, undefeatablility to battle on, no matter how many electric attacks they take." Jessie claimed.

"Even though undefeatability isn't even a word." James said in silly way.

"Say that ten times fast." Misty said sarcastically.

"Now, listen up Taillow. The harder you battle, the more delicious sandwiches you get." Jessie told them.

"Wait! You mean the ones that wee here over an hour ago?" Brock questioned, now sounding angry.

"Well, well. Not only has the scrawny twoipett made a comeback as well, but so has the tallest one." Meowth pointed out.

"You're right. Welcome back you two." Jessie told them.

"SCRAWNY!" Misty exclaimed, very enraged. Team Rocket was a bit freaked out, but Ash managed to hold her back, just barely. "Let me at 'em! Let me at 'em." Misty demanded.

"Misty! Please." Ash requested.

"Well, if you came for lunch, I'm afraid you're a little late." James told them.

"YES! I ALREADY KNOW THAT. THEY WERE MY SANDWICHES!" Brock shouted at them, enraged as well.

"So, what you're trying to say is, they were yours?" James questioned very mockingly.

"And a tad too salty." Jessie mockingly commented.

"I KNEW IT WAS YOUUUUU!" Brock exclaimed, very agitated.

"YOU BEST GIVE 'EM BACK!" Ash demanded.

"Yeah, we're starving." May warned them.

"Jeez! Best not get on their bad sides." Max commented.

"Oh, please. If you wanted them so bad, you should've written your name on your lunch bag." Jessie told them.

"Yeah. Besides dat, they're already gone." Meowth informed them. "Taillow! Take care of Pikachu." He ordered.

The tailow began to surround Pikachu and he was barely ready to fight them. "Ha. Oh no you don't." May told them. Go…Torchic." She called out.

"I'm not going to let you have all the fun. Misty calls Staru." Misty called out as well.

Both poke balls burst open and out came Staru and Torchic. Unfortunately, Torchic just went about its own business, chirping happily.

"Um… wait, Torchic. I still haven't told you what to do." May said frantically, not knowing how to handle her Torchic all that well just yet.

"Ash! What's with her?" Brock questioned.

"She just got that Torchic, and doesn't know how to do anything yet." Ash informed Brock.

Torchic ran past Pikachu and hit right into the rock TR was on. May whined as she held Torchic's poke ball. "Return." She ordered and slumped over slightly. "I've never been so humiliated." May whined to herself.

"Yeesh. You have a great deal to learn." Misty commented.

"Well that was fun. Now go Taillow." Jessie ordered.

As the swarm of Taillow got ready for an assault and Pikachu braced himself, Ash's Taillow got in front of him, surprising him. But before they could fight the alarm for the stew went off.

"Stew is ready." Brock called out.

"And I'm ready to eat it." May stated, happy she was finally able to have something.

"Smells good." Max complimented.

"Looks good." May complimented as well.

"And if I know Brock, it tastes good." Ash added.

"Yeah. No kidding. I can't wait to have it." Misty added in as well.

"Pika-chu. (No kidding.)" Pikachu commented.

All the Taillow surrounded the stew and Ash's Taillow landed on Brock's shoulder, anxious for a taste. "Hey everyone! Would you all like to join us for some lunch?" Brock requested.

"Tai, llow. (Yes, please.)" Taillow replied.

Team Rocket knew they were beaten at this.

"Now what?" Meowth questioned.

"Now they're going to beat us at our own dirty trick." James told Meown sullenly.

"At least we're willing to share, unlike them." Misty said to herself as she had heard them.

"Oh, wait a second! Pikachu hasn't eaten." Jessie stated, realizing they still had a slight chance.

"Hmm! We'll attack while it's weak from hunger." James confirmed.

"Anotha doity trick." Meowth acknowledged.

"They do realize that we can hear them, right?" Misty asked Ash.

"I strpngly doubt it, but they'll get a big shock out of this. Pukachu! Thunder Bolt." Ash ordered.

"I'll join ya. Staru, Swift." Misty added.

Both Pokémon unleashed their powerful attacks, hitting TR and they blasted into the air.

"Sorry about that Team Rocket. But this time, you were ones who were too late." Ash commented. "Pikachu already ate Brock's Pokémon food." Ash stated.

"Pikachu! (You know it!)" Pikachu exclaimed happily.

"Same with Togepi and now Staru is having some as well." Misty stated as her Pokémon ate.

"That's nice." Meowth replied.

Everyone's eaten but us." Jessie complained.

"Except for that taste of our own medicine." James remarked.

They groaned as they flew more into the air. "Team Rocket's blasting off again." They called out.

Before May even ate, she went over to Staru, curious about it. "A Staru, huh?" May wondered as she opened her poke dex.

Her poke dex beeped as well. "STARYU's center section has an organ called the core that shines bright red. If you go to a beach toward the end of summer, the glowing cores of these Pokémon look like the stars in the sky." Her poke dex informed her.

"I'm also curious about this one." May commented about Togepi as she aimed her poke dex at her baby Pokémon.

Her poke dex beeped once again. "Togepi. The Spike Ball Pokémon. The shell seems to be filled with joy. It is said that it will share good luck when treated kindly. A proverb claims that happiness will come to anyone who can make a sleeping TOGEPI stand up." Her poke dex informed her.

"Not to mention, what a cutie you are." May commented as she rubbed its head briefly. That caused Togepi to give off a gleeful cheer.

"Seems like Togepi likes you, May." Brock told her.

"Great. I like Togepi as well." May told them as she smiled at the Spike Ball.

Not long after, they all had some of Brock's stew and they enjoyed it. Even the Tailow enjoyed it as well. Each of them chowing down on it, enjoying the rich flavor as much as possible.

"That was some really great stew." Max complimented.

"Ash and Misty weren't kidding. You're an awesome cook, Brock." May added.

"Yep. We told ya he's a good guy to have around." Ash told them and they agreed.

"Not to mention, with Ash's cooking. It's not as good as Brock's." Max stated.

"Errr… thanks a lot, Max." Ash replied, a bit of a hurtful expression from him.

"So far, from what I can tell, you two have an appetite that's almost as big as Ash's" Brock told them. "That'll make cooking even more fun." He added.

"I'll be honest. I wasn't for sure that I'd have Brock's cooking ever again." Misty told them.

"Yeah, you're right. If it wasn't for those fake tickets and your sisters returning home early. You never would've been able to rejoin us." Ash said happily, as he was happy she was back with them.

"Actually, I was considering on training Daisy for a bit of time after they had returned so I could join back up with you on your journey." Misty informed him.

"Wait, that's what you were planning?" Brock questioned.

"How would you have been able to pull that off?" Ash asked, wondering.

"I would've reminded Daisy that it was more her responsibility to run the gym. Once I got back there, I just didn't feel fully ready." She told them.

"When do you think you would be?" May asked.

"Probably once I'm closer to being an adult. I know Brock took over his gym when he was…" "Fifteen." "Huh?" Misty questioned as she looked at him.

"I was fifteen when I was the gym leader and I still felt like I wasn't fully ready, but I knew I had to get it into gear." He informed her.

"Oh wow. I'm only thirteen and I'm still not as old as you were." Misty stated as she came into realization.

"You're not thinking about going back, are you?" Ash asked a bit sadly.

She looked at him as May, Max and Brock looked at her as well. "Oh, no, no, no, no. I'm not even thinking on that." Misty reassured him. "I'm remaining with you guys since Daisy knows how to run the gym." She told them.

"Well, that's a relief." Max stated.

"No kidding. I didn't want you to leave." May told her. "Especially since you just started traveling with us." May told her. 'Not to mention, I'd like to see how close they are and if they're willing to go much further than being friends." May thought to herself. 'If he chooses her, I'll be happy for the both of them. But of he chooses me, then I hope she remains with us and manages to accept us being an item.' May thought to herself still. "Also, I'm curious. How many Pokemon do you have on you, Misty?" May asked.

"Only two. Staryu, you guys already know. As for the second one, I'll let that one be a surprise." She told them as a tease.

From there the Taillow had finished and started to fly up.

"Huh? Are the Taillow leaving?" May wondered.

"They probably ate all the food in this area and have to move on." Ash told her.

"Especially from all that happened earlier. They're just as hungry as Ash is." Misty commented, knowing Ash incredibly well.

"Oh ha ha, Very funny, Msit." Ash retorted with a smile, nowing she was right.

Ash's Taillow even went up to them to say farewell.

"Looks like your Taillow is saying goodbye to all of its friends, Ash." Brock told him.

After saying farewell, all of the other Taillow departed. "There they go." Ash said, feeling a lot of relief.

"Yep." Brock replied, knowing what Ash was feeling.

Misty stood next to Ash. Knowing what was probably going on with Ash's Taillow, now letting all of its friends go. "Do you thin your Taillow will be okay, Ash?" Misty asked him.

"I know Taillow will be just fine, It might be hard to let your friends go, but at least he has new friends to journey with. Ash replied to her.

"You're right. Taillow might have said farewell, but it has us." Misty replied.

"As for right now. I'd say it's time for us to get moving too. Let's head out to Rustboro City!" Ash exclaimed as he put his fist in the air. May and Max cheered, anxious to get a move on.

Yet, there was something else they needed to do. "Great. But first, we'll do the dishes." Brock reminded him. This caught them off guard as they felt disappointed. Misty tried to stifle her laughter, knowing they had to do the dishes.

"How could you forget to do the dishes, Ash?" Misty asked him as she tried not to laugh.

Now that they were reunited with Brock. Ash manages to catch his first Pokemon in the Hoenn region. And with that, the group pushes on. Looking forward to new friends and adventures on the road ahead.

"Take a step and I'm on my way. Gonna start all over again. I wanna be a hero! (Hero!) Pokémon: Advanced! (I'm on my way!) I wanna be a hero! (Hero!) Give me just one chance. And the future will decide. If there's a hero buried deep inside. I wanna be a hero! Pokémon!"
