One-shot XXVIII: Family.
Zuko had been feeling a little anxious these days, he was going to have a baby and he did not know very well how to feel; it was obvious that he was happy, extremely happy but he was also afraid, he could only say that he needed to take a little look at his family and there were not many good parents.
He was afraid, afraid of being just like his father, of not being able to give what his son or daughter needed. At that, through one of the windows of his office he saw Aang, he was wearing a red robe as Zuko had insisted; that to mark that he was the Fire Lord's consort. Aang walked peacefully with his large pregnant belly, seeing this, Zuko went straight to his husband regardless of his other responsibilities.
"I told you it wasn't good for you to go out like this, and more so being alone" Zuko said sitting next to his husband, Aang just looked at him as if he was telling him a joke.
"You can't expect me to stay locked up in four walls all day, besides this time I didn't leave the palace."
"At least accept to have ladies-in-waiting."
Aang just sighed resignedly and nodded his head, the two stood there, looking at the huge garden in front of them; but Aang noticed the worried look on his husband's face.
"What are you worried about?" the young man asked, Zuko looked surprised but immediately began to shake his head "Zuko, honey. I know you like I know my own mind, I know something is bothering you."
"What if I'm not a good father? what if I'm just like my father... there haven't even been good parents in my family" Zuko start to talk a little depressed and ended up leaning on Aang's shoulder; the younger man kissed his forehead.
"What about your uncle?" Aang asked in a very sweet voice tone "you once told me that he was like your father, that he took care of you even more than your own father"
"But... maybe without realizing it... I ended up becoming my father."
"As I said, I know you and I know that you aren't like him, besides I will always be on your side no matter what and if it was necessary I will help you find a way to do it."
Zuko looked at his husband, for a second all his doubts dissipated and he felt he could do it right.
"We should think about names... if it's a girl I would like to call her Izumi" Zuko continued looking at Aang, he smiled and looked up.
"If it were a boy... I'd like to call him Tenzin."
"Tenzin?"
"That was monk Gyatso's middle name, he was like a father to me. I guess it's a way to honor him without putting any expectations on my son."
"I like the idea, then so be it."
The day of delivery had arrived, everything had gone well and now they were carrying their twins in their arms, wrapped in blankets and sleeping soundly.
"Look how tiny they are, what a tiny hand" Aang said carrying and holding his son's hand "hi, Tenzin, I'm... I'm your mom" he said almost as a joke.
Zuko was in that bed next to him carrying a little baby girl who was also sleeping peacefully.
"They're perfect" Zuko said also looking at the little baby boy that Aang was carrying.
Just by looking at those two little babies, his babies, he knew he could do it right, he already loved them with all his heart and as soon as he had seen them; he knew that he would be a good parent.
