Well there folks, how are you doing on this fine day?

Alright let's skip the formalities. To get this straight, this is a Fanfiction of America Stranded, or if you want to call America Stranded a fanfiction of Japan summons, then its a Fanfiction of a Fanfiction, if that makes sense.

But I'll say this, this is NOT a continuation of America Stranded, let that be very clear, as this will follow the concept of America Stranded, but it's plot will be completely different.

One thing to also note, it's that Me and Mandeer have very different writing styles, which should be pretty evident right about now. And the tone is also different.

The Original Author of America Stranded can be found in Wattpad, Royal Road or Scribblehub.

And one last thing, my writing isn't perfect at all, so expect some grammar errors in some spots, some lines that don't exactly make sense, but yeah.

Hope ya'll have a good read.

June 15th, 2040: United States White House

There are many things that the Vice President of the United States worried about ever since the start of John Dresden's presidency.

Whether it was dealing with a Republican Party that was constantly butting heads with the Democrats to a point where any deal in the house was made impossible, that even with his skills as a politician, he couldn't get the two parties to agree on anything.

Or the constant looming threat that the Chinese pose toward Taiwan and the rest of Asia, which had gotten severely worse to a point that they had begun cooperation with the Russians in order to counter them properly, which didn't bond well with many in the party. Especially on what happened in Africa. But Dresden still pressed forward and continued on with negotiating with the Russians.

Of course there were many more fears that followed that, but most of them were suppressed by the work pile up and with how things were going for the Dresden Presidency, everything was looking all good and dandy unlike previous presidents on their first terms. So to Harold, there wasn't anything to be worried about.

But all of that changed within a single second.

While the president was in the middle of a two hour call with the Russian President and General Of The Army, Boris Isimov, about an alliance to counter the Rouge Red Dragon. Harold was in the middle of a call with one of the Democrat senators trying to reassure her that the president had no intention whatsoever to bend down its knees to the Russians anytime soon or ever, and that the president was only seeking this alliance out of convenience against the Chinese.

"Senator Rachael" He said as he placed his hand onto his forehead. "I do understand your concerns and hesitation on cooperation with the Russians, but you have a guarantee from President Dresden and from myself, that we will not be giving the Russians any leverage throughout these negotiations, and this alliance will be one out of equals against the Chinese" He said with a tone of reassurance.

There was a few seconds of silence before the Female Democrat Senator spoke. "There are many things to be concerned about Mr. Vice President, and cooperating with the Russians is one of them. Throughout these last decades, Russia as a whole has been an enemy to the United States, we had fought them in the proxies plains of Ukraine, the deserts of Yemen, the Horn of Africa, and in the Gold Coast of Africa. We can't simply forget all that the Russians have done against us, especially those who had died at the hands of the Russians." Senator Rachael stated sternly.

"The President is not planning on spitting on the graves of his fellow soldiers who have died in Africa, Senator." Harold said, now talking in a stern tone. "The Dresden Administration has taken all measures to ensure that with this cooperation with the Russian Junta, will not be a disgrace to those who have died in the resource wars, but instead it will be an act on the global stage of partnership with a new chapter for the Russian Federation." The Vice President said before his tune turning back calmly.

"Harold, I want to believe that we can trust the Russians, I really do. But how can we be sure that President Isimov will not turn into another Yeltsin or yet another Putin? We had hoped when the Soviet Union collapsed, that Russia would be one of the many in Eastern Europe to embrace democratic values and accept Democracy. Except, it turned into a mafia state under the corrupt incompetence of Drunken Yeltsin, and the Totalitarian Regime under Vladimir Putin that had festered Russia for all these decades. How can I be sure that President Dresden will not make the same mistake as our predecessors?" She questioned Vice President Harold.

As his hand laid on the phone, he took a short moment to fester in a response before he opened his mouth again. "Senator, I can assure you personally that we will not make the same mistakes as our predecessors, Dresden will make sure that the Russian Federation will not-. Senator Rachael?" He immediately questioned as the line went oddly quiet, as there wasn't the sound emitting from the other side.

The Vice President took his phone away from his ear as he looked at the screen to see it completely shut down. He pressed the button multiple times but the encrypted phone was simply unresponsive. The phone was fully charged and quite new as well, how the hell was it unresponsive now?

But nonetheless, Harold simply sighed tiredly before he placed the phone on the desk as he opened the drawer next to him to pull out his second phone to call Senator Rachael to continue their conversation, but before he could even do that. It happened.

The lights in the room flickered violently for a full good five seconds as well as the computer and the two phones flickered in and out in static. After the five seconds were gone, the empty room was completely silent as Vice President Harold slowly stood up in visible confusion expressed all over his face as he looked around.

"Wh-What in the god damn?" He slowly questioned himself as stood tall in the room as he heard frantic footsteps outside of his room as the door burst open with two secret agents rushing up to him and grabbing ahold to his right arm.

"Mister Vice President, You have to come with us now." The Secret Service Agent said with stern caution, Harold could only nod as he followed suit as he already knew where he was gonna be. As he exited his office, he saw multiple Secret Service Agents going the opposite way, especially with one of them holding on to a medkit, Harold didn't give much thought at that time as he already steps away from the Presidential Emergency Operation Center.

Inside, the Head of the Joint Chief of Staff were already there, this also included many other important officials such as the Chief of the Navy, Director of the FBI, Director of the CIA and countless many other Generals in the war room as they were frantically standing and sitting around the table with multiple files and documents littered across the table as some were spilled to the ground.

Harold looked back and forth as he saw them all arguing and speaking over each other as their faces were contorted with fear and confusion. Something that wasn't giving the Vice President of the United States of America any results, his face that was also filled with concern was temporally straightened sternly as his hand landed on the table twice, loud enough for everyone around the table to shut up immediately as they viewed the Vice President in front of them.

Seeing how he caught their attention readily, Harold spoke sternly. "Can any of you begin to explain to me what the hell is going on?" He questioned the Head of the Joint Chief of Staff as he stood and faced the Vice President.

"Mr Vice President, as far as we are aware at this moment of time, is that we are completely in the dark, communication has shut down throughout the country as we are not available to contact our satellites" The Joint Chief of Staff explained leaving for the Vice President to take a moment to digest the situation in front of him.

"Do we know that it was caused by the Chinese or the Russians?" One of the Generals to the left of him questioned to which the Joint Chief of Staff turned his head to face him

"We are not sure at the moment. However it would wise to activate our Nuclear ICBM's should it be the case that the Russians or the Chinese hav-

"Hold that thought for a moment" Harold countered promptly shutting the Joint Chief of Staff up before turning his direction to the general to his left. "Do we have contact with NORAD at this moment?"

"Negative Mister Vice President, the communication array has gone dark, we can't contact them at this moment" The Director of the FBI stated which earned a glance from Harold before he turned his direction to two Secret Service Agents in the room.

"You two" He sternly spoke as the two Agents turned their full attention toward Harold. "Get to the Washington NORAD Site and get them in full alert if they haven't already."

"Yes sir!" One of the Agents said as both of them immediately rushed out of the war room to which Harold directed his attention back to the table.

What followed next would've been described as controlled chaos but in a work environment. People were rushing in and out of the bunker bringing in news that was either already known, something they didn't already know, or they weren't completely sure of. But communication was returning back but at a painfully slow rate, there were still major parts of the country that were still in the dark but the only positive thing out of all of this chaos was there hadn't been any reports of a Nuclear Strike. But that was still the question on what the hell caused this. As they couldn't get into contact with Canada or Mexico, despite them literally being in their borders.

Harold slightly placed his left hand on his forehead as he excused himself from the table as he entered a break room that wasn't occupied by anyone, already sensing a headache beginning to form, he took out a small bottle of pills to which he opened the bottle and landed one pill one his hand, he looked at his momentarily before dumping in three more pills before ingesting them and taking a cup of water before putting the pills back into his coat.

He sighed slightly as the amount of stress beginning to form would be comparable to that of dealing with trying to get a vote pass or what not. He decided to grab a cup and pour in some coffee that was still warm. He took a deep breath before leaving out of the breakroom and heading back into the war room.

As the Vice President took a sip from his coffee, he noticed the Head Chief of Staff on the phone but he had the expression of absolute horror on his face as he lowered the phone before looking at Harold.

"Edwards? What happened?" Harold asked slowly before the Head Chief of Staff directed his finger towards the giant screens in the Bunker. There was a flash of light that encompassed the screen before it showed live footage.

The footage was from Detroit, which was one of the first cities to get in contact with in the first hour of this chaos, but the live footage wasn't directed toward Detroit, no it was directed towards Windsor, a city that was across the river.

But there was only one problem.

There wasn't a Windsor in sight.

What laid before the people in the emergency bunker would be an endless wave of plain grass, that stretched on for miles, whatever city was on the other side was gone.

Almost like Windsor never has existed in the first place.

What followed Harold felt his hands begin to tremble ever so slightly upon seeing this revelation, to anyone this would've been seen as a simple joke, a horrendous joke but still one. Part of him was wishing at that very moment that he was dreaming, that he'll wake up or something. But no.

This was reality. This wasn't some block buster rom com, this was real life.

The Vice President was soon snapped back into reality when one of the Secret Service Agents, one whom he recognized to be the exact one that escorted him out into the bunker, placed a hand onto his shoulder.

"You need to come with me sir, it's urgent." The Agent said as he left the War Room, Harold looked at the screens one last time before he followed the Agent into the same breakroom he was just a few minutes ago, there he closed the door behind him as the agent slowly took off his sunglasses.

"What is it?" Harold slowly questioned as he was still trying to process what he had just witnessed.

"Sir, this is regarding the situation with President Dresden" The Agent began slowly to which Harold finally noted something that had taken a person to say in front of him. Despite the speaker of the house and the house of congress being at the bunker later on. He never saw John Dresden there at all.

"What do you mean that there's a situation with President Dresden? Why the hell isn't he her-"

"The president is incapacitated at this moment sir" The Agent said, cutting the Vice President mid sentence to whom he only eyed the Secret Service Agent with complete shock, his face then turned into concern.

"W-wh-what. .? H-How?" Harold sputtered out

The Agent simply sighed before speaking once more. "After communications went down, the Agents in the Oval Office found him in a sporadic state as he was on the ground shaking, the Agents there did what protocol they followed, but the President was still in a bad state, he is currently in his residence with doctors from the EMS there treating him but he is unable to continue his duties as the President of the United States" He slowly revealed.

Harold was silent as he let that all sink in, the Secret Service Agent continued nonetheless. "Mister Vice President, we are enacting continuity of government, a DC appellate judge will be here soon. This got Harold to look at the Agent with a confused expression. "Sir, you are now the President of the United States of America" The Agent revealed to the Vice President.

This made Harolds world stop completely as those very words sank in deep into him, even when the Agent left the break room he was still standing still like a statue, he slowly made his way to the counter has he felt his body to shake in a sorry state of controlled panic that was now developing inside of him.

These last few hours were nothing short but hell to Harold, and these last few minutes were enough to put him in a sorry ass state like this, and there was only one thing that was left in his mind.

How. . .How the hell is anybody supposed to deal with this in a short amount of time. . .?
