The Trio Of Death - Prologue

Prologue

The hidden leaf village in the country of fire, considered the largest among the five great ninja nations, was known for being the home and origin of some of the most prominent ninjas in history. It was also known publicly for fostering camaraderie and solidarity among its members, the much-acclaimed 'will of fire', but if they knew some of the actions of the inhabitants of said town, especially towards members of their own village, people would feel outraged.

In the town hospital, there was at this moment a mistreated child with his entire body bandaged, being watched by a somewhat older child who was watching over him. The 7-year-old boy had a slightly muscular and well-proportioned body with lightly tanned skin and was a little taller than boys his age. But the boy's most unique features were the three marks on each of his cheeks that gave him a certain resemblance to a fox, his bright scarlet red hair, and his right eye, which was such a deep blue color that it could only be compared to that of a sapphire. Yes, one eye was missing; the other was missing, and in its place was a bandage to cover the gap crossed by a vertical scar. The boy's name was Naruto Uzumaki, the jinchuriki of Konoha.

His guard was an 8-year-old boy, slightly taller than Naruto, with light, pale skin and messy, short black hair. He was wearing a black high-necked t-shirt with a belly sash, gray shorts, bandages on both forearms and ankles, and the typical Shinobi sandals. The boy had a mixture of worry, anger, and sadness on his face when he saw the state of his only friend. His name was Kagami.

"Why did they do this to you, Naruto?" Kagami asked his unconscious friend with an anguished tone.

The boy seemed to be sleeping, but if you only knew that in the back of his mind there was a conversation going on that would change his life forever.

In a dark sewer, the sobs of said child could be heard. This little guy was crying in a fetal position on the humanoid paw of a colossal red fox. This fox, with nine tails waxed behind red bars, had rabbit ears and a strangely human torso. The giant beast was better known as a bijuu, the famous tailed beast; to be precise, it was Hitomi, the kyubi no kitsune, the most powerful of the tailed beasts. The creature, despite being trapped and locked inside the child, was not looking at him with hatred and resentment, but with sorrow and helplessness.

7 years ago, Hitomi was sealed back into a host by Minato Namikaze, the fourth hokage, and his wife and former jinchuriki, Kushina Uzumaki. After almost a century of captivity, she had been freed from her second jinchuriki, only to be controlled shortly after by that damned Uchiha and his sharingan! She ended up killing those who stood in his way and destroying a good portion of the town until she freed herself from the bastard's control. She tried to flee then, but those damn Shinobis did not allow her. There were people determined to capture a lady, so she ended up on the outskirts of the village and sealed for the third time in a host.

At first, she had decided to hate the baby and escape at the first opportunity she could see. But as the months passed, she began to relax. Of course, in prison, there was not much to do; her jailer was just a child, and although she could look at his memories or through his senses, she was not interested in seeing what the daily life of an infant was like. But strangely, she almost didn't care. She had never felt so calm and clear-headed. She thought it was because of the seal, but she dismissed the idea, doubting that Konoha's higher-ups would have been bothered by his mood or comfort, so it could only be his jailer, although she had no idea how he did it.

Her situation only became more unique when, after a year in that sewer, the little boy appeared. Hitomi was shocked at that moment. She was not naive; she knew that one day she was going to face the redhead; it was inevitable, but she always thought it would be in a few years, not a few months! Although what really surprised her were his eyes—not because of their color but because of the look the baby was giving her. Since her father and creator, the sage of the six paths, had died, she had only received looks of hate, fear, and/or contempt.

The little boy had at first looked at her with curiosity (nothing surprising; he was a child after all) and then with admiration. Hitomi had been paralyzed; she was not used to this situation, and she could only watch as the little boy crawled towards the cage with enthusiasm. She couldn't understand it; she was in her giant fox mode, a demon according to many, but this tadpole just seemed to head towards her as if it were a normal person.

The little one continued crawling until he reached the bars of his cage and passed between them. This moment would have been perfect to attack her container, but this thought had not even crossed her mind; she was simply too shocked by the situation. Soon she noticed something soft on one of her paws. She looked down and saw the little one caressing her skin with curiosity. She just stared at him until Naruto looked up and gave her a smile. That simple, pure, and sincere smile managed to completely change the former bijuu's opinion and melt her heart (yes, surprisingly, for all the shinobi in the world, the biju had a heart).

Since her father, no one has smiled at her, no one has spoken to her (curses and insults don't count), and no one has tried to treat her like an intelligent person with feelings.

Hitomi that day decided to give the redhead a chance, and in six years, she had never regretted that decision. She had never confessed to Naruto that she was actually a woman; he knew her under the name Kurama. Those details would be revealed when he was a little older. Naruto became her puppy, her little brother, and she took care of him the best she could given her imprisonment. She taught him to read and write when those bastards at the orphanage refused to do so; she comforted him when those damn bastards kicked him out onto the street; and shortly after that, she taught him how to find food in the forest so he could survive without a roof over his head. This situation lasted 1 year until old Hokage Saru-useless found him on the street and gave him that shitty apartment. Kurama, seeing that the villagers would now know where to find him, decided that she should start training the little one. She helped him unblock his chakra and forced him to do a series of rigorous and intensive exercises. She knew it was too much for a little boy like him, but they had no choice; they were practically alone with him at the mercy of the cruel and greedy civilians and resentful ninjas. The little boy needed to be strong in order to survive. Since the villagers were not going to sell him proper food, Naruto continued hunting in the forests near Konoha. He even went so far as to unlock his abilities and benefits as a jinchuriki: an incredibly advanced healing factor and his ability to sense emotions. Those two advantages had saved his skin more times than he could count. It was on those hunting trips that he met Kagami. At first, and even today, Hitomi had strong doubts about that boy. She could clearly see the 'cursed' blood of the Uchihas in the boy's features, but his cub was alone and needed friends, so she kept these doubts to herself. She always took care of him like a lioness takes care of her cubs. Unfortunately, tonight was not enough. Today was October 10th, Naruto's birthday, but also the anniversary of her defeat and the 'death' of the Yondaime Hokage.

Growling in rage, Naruto was heading towards home when a mob of villagers and some Shinobi formed to hunt him down. Even though Hitomi had helped him train his physique and chakra, he was still a child and ended up getting caught. Those bastards beat him to death; some Shinobi took out their kunai and played target shooting with him; there was one who went as far as to gouge out his left eye. They would have continued if it weren't for the Sandaime Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, appearing and ordering his AMBU to arrest everyone involved. The old man could only look with remorse at the pitiful state Naruto was in and take him to the hospital as quickly as possible. Kagami had arrived shortly after to stand guard in case someone else decided to finish the job.

Now, the young Jinchuriki found himself within the mental landscape of him crying and with his 'big brother' figure looking at him, not knowing what to do or say. It hadn't been the first time her pup had received a beating, but they had never been so brutal and cruel. No matter how much chakra she pushed outward to speed up his healing factor, his eye was lost forever. Hitomi decided that they had gone too far.

''Naruto, look at me.'' The fox told him, but Naruto kept crying into the palm of his right hand or paw.

- "Why? Why is it always me? Why can't they leave me alone?" Asked the child with teary eyes to the great demon.

"Because of their ignorance, their fear, and their stupidity. You see, Naruto, these people hate us for something that we can't help, for who we are, and they don't understand. I know it hurts a lot, but you can't give up now, not after all you've been through. You have to keep fighting; don't let them win."

"Why should I do it? Why should I continue to fight? No matter what I do, they will always hate me; no one will accept me." Exclaimed the little one.

Kurama lifted his other paw, carefully lifted the boy's head, and looked deeply into the only blue eye he had left. ''Naruto, we can't go on like this; we have to go. ''

The little boy did not understand the question, "Should we go where?"

''Leave the village Naruto, I can't continue watching how these scumbags continue to abuse you. It destroys me inside to see how they treat you and not be able to do more. You deserve better than this puppy. Better!''

Naruto was shocked. He had never seen his big brother act like this; he always seemed so strong and impassive. And leaving the village? It was not the first time he had proposed such an option, but the idea of leaving the place where his parents had lived and been protected made him sad, although he admitted that the idea was beginning to appeal to him more and more.

"But Jiji always says I should..."

''You should what? Forgive? Naruto, there is a fine line between kindness and stupidity. You'd crossed that line a long time ago! How many more beatings are you going to have to endure for you to understand it, and the worst thing is that that useless old monkey does nothing to stop it.'' The bijuu let go of him in frustration. The little Uzumaki had suffered so much during his life that it was practically a miracle that he had no trauma and still retained a shred of innocence, but Hitomi had no illusions. She knew that could change if that trash from Konoha continued with his actions.

The old monkey wasn't going to do anything; Hitomi guessed that the Civil Council had him by the balls. It was truly sad to see the man who was once hailed as the 'God of Shinobi', 'The Master', and other titles being reduced to a pathetic, spineless old man. There was also the fourth Hokage's student, Kakashi Hatake, but in six years that man did nothing to help her cub, and she didn't think he would do anything anytime soon. She guessed that he was too busy feeling sorry for himself, or maybe he just didn't care what happened to little Uzumaki. The only other people who were good to him besides Kagami and that little Hyuga girl were that old man and his daughter from the ramen stand, but being civilians, there was little they could do. She couldn't afford to wait; she had to take matters into her own hands.

Naruto had remained silent, tears still falling down his cheeks. The old Hokage, his grandfather figure, always told him that he should forgive the villagers and that, in time, they would accept him. He wanted to believe in his jiji, but the words of his brother figure had penetrated deeply. Deep in his heart, he knew it was true and that he was really grasping at straws, but there was more he could do. He had no family; he lived in an old apartment almost demolished by civilians in the red light district. Almost the entire population hated the poor boy or simply didn't care. The only reason he had survived until now was thanks to the fox's training and learning. The only thing left was to have faith that things would get better, but apparently he couldn't even afford that.

He did not know what to think. He had always wanted to become Hokage, but his dreams seemed more and more distant as his life progressed. He had never felt accepted in the village and had never received support from anyone other than his jii-chan, the Hokage. He thought of Kagami and Hinata. If he left the village, he wouldn't see his best friends anymore. His best friend would probably blame himself for not being able to protect him and Hinata; he didn't even want to think about it. But maybe his brother was right; he couldn't go on like this.

Kurama sighed. ''I'm sorry, pup, but you have to face reality. Konoha is not a safe place for you, and if we don't do something, things won't get better.''

Naruto nodded as he wiped away his tears. ''So where should I go? I've never left town, and from what you've told me, you've been locked up for a long time.''

The redhead knew that his older brother figure had been enclosed in three people, the third being himself, but he never told him who the other two were. When he asked, the fox simply told him that he would tell him when he was ready. The little boy did not understand it, but despite this, he decided to trust his brother.

That conversation would lead to revealing certain information that she would not want to divulge. Not because she didn't trust him, but because the answer could completely destroy the child and plunge him into a hole from which there was no way out. She was only going to tell him when he was ready, and he would never be in this hell that was Konoha.

Hitomi smiled in relief; she had finally managed to convince him. '' I'll think about it during the night; for now, go to sleep, and we'll talk later as soon as you recover. ''

Naruto nodded and reached out to the edge of his claw to hug his snout. The poor boy had had almost no human contact in his life, with the giant fox, the old Hokage, and his two friends being the only exceptions. For this reason, Kurama allowed him to hug him whenever he wanted, and although he would never admit it, deep down he knew the bijuu enjoyed it immensely. The two stayed like that for a while until Naruto let go of her and gave her a small but genuine smile.

''Good night, Kurama-nii.'' The redhead said before fading away.

As soon as he left, the fox lay down, put her head on top of his paws, and fell into deep thought. Getting her puppy out of this place was not going to be easy. Security was quite tight in the town, not only for those who wanted to enter but also for those who wanted to leave.

She hatched some plans in his head for a while, but all of them were too risky and dangerous. As time went by, Hitomi began to get a little desperate, and she couldn't help but curse the room for the millionth time for putting the little one in this situation. But suddenly an idea came to her as she remembered their fight years ago. To be precise, a giant toad fell on top of her to immobilize her. You have to see the manners of certain people!

''It could work, but it's a very risky bet.'' She began to weigh the pros and cons. ''... well, our goal is to get out of here and find a safe place; after that, we'll improvise as we go.'' She didn't mind. She didn't like the idea of risking her little one, but it was the best option. She decided to talk to him about it as soon as he left the hospital.
