Connection

Chapter 41

Pour a little salt, we were never here. Tell my love to wreck it all

now, all your love is wasted

Then who the hell was I?

"Lucas. Don't give up on us. On me." Peyton pleaded.

As she started to go after him. Reaching for his hand. Taking it in hers.

Causing him to turn around. And face her again.

"Its you or no one." Peyton proclaimed.

"I'm waiting for you to tell me. You feel nothing for me."

"That the kiss between us that happened before you and Lindsey's wedding was a mistake." Peyton insisted.

"Who we were was in the past. I can't be anything to you now."

"Getting back in contact with you was a mistake." Lucas insisted. Before turning away from her for good and getting into his car.

...

Lucas knew going out there at all was a mistake. When he found Brooke in the entryway in tears.

He felt sick with himself.

"Where were you? I woke up and you weren't there."

"You didn't leave a note. I didn't know what to think."

"Lucas. Talk to me." Brooke insisted.

"Are you okay?" She questioned.

"I'm sorry for leaving. It wasn't planned."

"Is Serenity awake?" Lucas asked.

"Fast asleep." She replied.

"Let's sit down." Lucas said. Taking her hand in his.

Lucas sighed deeply. "I left and met up with Peyton that wasn't planned. I just couldn't process her being back and needed to deal with it alone." He started to say.

The expression on Brooke's face softened.

At the mention of Peyton. Brooke's body language shifted.

"Why didn't you leave when you saw her there?" Brooke asked.

"I needed to confront her. She's staying with Nathan and Haley to stay close by. To get under my skin."

"She didn't deny it. And she said. Alot of stuff that doesn't matter."

"I made it clear. That you and our family is all i need what matters to me. I'm sorry for worrying and stressing you."

"Let's go to bed." Lucas insisted.
