A/N Trigger warnings: Mentions of suicide.

Siblings Old and New

Within her tent at the circus, Ty Lee held in a sigh.

Of all her six sisters, Ty Lin was probably her favorite of the bunch. They'd always felt a strong connection with each other that neither could explain.

That being said, if she didn't stop talking soon Ty Lee was going to do something drastic.

"Look, I don't like asking either, but you need to come home," Ty Lin said for the umpteenth time. Her patience had long since worn thin and she was fed up with Ty Lee pretending to ignore her. "Mom and Dad said if you don't come home with me you'll be disowned rather than let our family 'Be associated with an irresponsible clown.' Do you really want that?"

Ty Lee gave her identical sister an unimpressed look. "No, they won't. Mom and Dad aren't stupid. They would never disown me so long as I still have Princess Azula's favor and Azula couldn't care less if I were a noble lady or a clown so long as I'm useful to her, and they know it."

As scary as being Azula's friend was, Ty Lee couldn't deny the benefits it gave her. The prestige of having a daughter be the princess's personal friend was something her parents were happy to brag about, and they weren't about to jeopardize that. But even if Princess Azula herself showed up at the circus, she would still be hesitant to leave. Honestly, the only person Ty Lee felt would convince her to leave the circus just by asking once would be Mai.

… She missed Mai.

But as much as she loved her, Ty Lin was no Mai.

Ty Lin, meanwhile, grimaced knowing she was right, but Ty Lee could see the start of desperation in her features as well.

Come to think of it. Everything about Ty Lin's sudden appearance there had seemed rather desperate. The other circus folk knew Ty Lee's home situation, and while they couldn't have stopped anyone sent by her parents from coming in, they would have at least warned her so Ty Lee could make herself scarce. However, Ty Lin had snuck into Ty Lee's tent wearing no make-up and her hair and clothes in Ty Lee's preferred style and letting their identical faces allow her to slip by people unnoticed. Neither of which were things Ty Lin preferred. While most people considered Ty Lee very girly, Ty Lin had her beat with her love of elaborate makeup, intricate hairstyles, and beautiful clothes. She normally wouldn't be caught dead dressed as Ty Lee, who favored styles that were cute, pink, and practical enough to do a cartwheel in.

A flash of concern ran through her. "Hey, are you okay?" Ty Lee asked. "Mom and Dad aren't being mean to you again, right?"

Ty Lin looked away. "Not all of us have a princess as a safety net, Lee," she said softly. In truth, all seven Ty sisters hated being treated as a matched set. Ty Lee had just been the only one brave enough to leave.

Ty Lee's expression turned sympathetic. "Want to join the circus instead?" she offered without a second thought.

Ty Lin's face snapped up to look at her. "But you came here to get away from us?" she said.

"I came here to get away from being Mom and Dad's little doll," Ty Lee corrected. "You had all the training I did back in the Royal Fire Academy, so it's not like you couldn't do it. Besides, while a twin trapeze act would draw a crowd, you don't have to do the same thing as me. There's an opening for scorpion-snake charming if you're interested. You were always better than me at music." She smiled warmly at her sister. "I can be your safety net if you let me."

Ty Lin glanced over at Ty Lee's open wardrobe full of beautiful outfits and jewelry for her act and looked sorely tempted.

But Ty Lin had never been as daring as Ty Lee, and she could already see her sister's disappointment as she prepared to turn down the offer.

But before Ty Lin could respond either way, a noise outside the tent caught both sisters' attention.

The Ty sisters shared a look. It was late evening when Ty Lin had slipped in to try and convince Ty Lee and their argument had gone well into the middle of the night. No one should be out at this hour, much less sneaking around Ty Lee's tent.

No one with noble intentions, at least.

Seeing the fear on her sister's face, Ty Lee shoved her into the wardrobe to hide. "I'll take a look. Wait here," she whispered as she shut the door.

"Lee!" she heard her sister hiss frantically after her, but Ty Lee was already slipping silently out of the tent.

Climbing atop a nearby pile of crates, she squinted into the darkness, waiting for her eyes to adjust.

When they did, she spotted a figure dressed in dark colors creeping around the edge of her tent.

Leaping down to give the creeper a good chi-blocking, Ty Lee's attack fumbled when she caught sight of the intruder's face, shaved hair just starting to grow back, and a distinct scar, which took her by surprise and allowed him to catch her jabs before they could land

"Prince Zuko?" she asked in surprise, staring up at the banished prince. But even as she said that something blurred at the edge of her vision as another face flashed over top of his, a dear face no matter how their relationship strained. "No, wait… Jiang Cheng!" she gasped as she remembered.

Zuko gave her a look that was more than a little smug. "Wei Wuxian," he said. "Got you."

Ty Lin cowered among the lovely clothing, listening desperately for the sound of her sister's return or some indication of what was happening outside.

It sounded like… talking? Though she couldn't hear what was being said.

Finally, she heard the sound of the tent flap rustling and Ty Lee's voice outside the wardrobe.

Not waiting to hear what was being said, Ty Lin burst out of the closet, her expression worried. "Lee!" she exclaimed.

"Lin!" Her sister said back, but then both sisters winced in unison, one in recognition, the other also in recognition and a whole new set of memories as well.

"What?" asked a vaguely familiar male voice.

When the pain faded, Ty Lin looked up to see Ty Lee gaping at her. "Mo Xuanyu!" she said.

"What?!" the male voice said again sharply, and Ty Lin vaguely registered a boy had come in after her sister. But she barely paid any mind, as she had more important things to worry about.

Ty Lin swallowed, her mouth suddenly dry and her eyes the size of saucers. Terror screamed through her veins in the face of the demon she'd once summoned and bound to her will. "Yiling Patriarch," she replied.

She was so dead.

Ty Lee raised her hand seemingly unconsciously, and said, "Here… That's me…"

"Wei Wu-Ty Lee, what is going on!" The boy demanded, apparently also aware the scourge of the cultivation world was with them.

"It's Ty Lin. She's Mo Xuanyu," Ty Lee said, her eyes still fixed on her sister.

The boy made a disturbed noise in the back of his throat. "The lunatic cut-sleeve who died to bring you back?" he asked.

That finally drew Ty Lee's eyes away from Ty Lin. Instead, they snapped over towards the boy in a fierce glare. "Jiang Cheng, do not call my sister a lunatic!" she said sharply.

Jiang Cheng? As in Jiang Wanyin? The Sandu Shenshou? The worst nightmare of any demonic cultivator? He was here too?

Ty Lin turned to register the boy and paled as she finally recognized him.

And he was Prince Zuko! Banished or not, a prince was still a prince and his words held far more weight than hers ever would.

She was so dead!

The Yiling Patriarch, who was somehow Ty Lee, turned her attention back to Ty Lin, who squeezed her eyes shut and braced herself...

... Only to be yanked into the tightest and warmest hug she had ever felt in both this life and the last.

"Thank you!" Ty Lee said breathlessly in her ear.

Ty Lin's eyes snapped open and she looked at Ty Lee in shock. "What?" she asked.

"Thank you!" Ty Lee said again, earnestness blatant in every word. She pulled back so she could look Ty Lin in the eyes. "You saved my life! You gave me a chance to even have a life! To clear my name! To fix what I could! I was able to get married to the love of my life because of you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Ty Lin blinked at her sincerity. As depressed and desperate Mo Xuanyu, he had honestly never wondered what the Yiling Patriarch would do with his body after his dying wish was complete, nor had he really cared, but… it sounds like Wei Wuxian had lived that second life to the fullest.

In the corner of her eye, Prince Zuko shifted, making Ty Lin tense up again.

Feeling it through her hug, Ty Lee let go to wave her hands in a placating manner. "No, no, no, don't worry. ChengCheng and I made up a while after you brought me back. He's not going to hurt you."

"I might," Prince Zuko said.

"He's not going to hurt you," Ty Lee said, sending him a pointed look.

Zuko scowled back at her before focusing on Ty Lin. "You still a demonic cultivator, or plan to be one in this life?"

"No!" Ty Lin squeaked.

"You going to tell anyone I was here?"

"Not if you don't want me to!"

"You going to hurt this idiot or anyone else in my family, reborn or not?"

"Even Princess Azula?"

"Do you seriously think you could take Azula?"

"... No. And, no, I promise I'm not going to hurt your family!"

Prince Zuko nodded in a satisfied manner. "Then I'm not going to hurt you."

Ty Lin let out a relieved woosh of air she hadn't realized she'd been holding, and Ty Lee pressed a hand to her chest and looked touched. "Aw, Zuko, you do care."

Zuko rolled his eyes. "A-Jie is Princess Yue of the Northern Water Tribe," he said. "And her Peacock is a Southern Water Tribe peasant who's friends with the Avatar."

"Peacock?" Ty Lin couldn't help but ask. She didn't recall her late sister-in-law having a pet.

"Jin Zixuan," Ty Lee explained. "Jiang Cheng and I always called him a peacock."

Ty Lin blinked at the mention of her half-brother she'd never gotten the chance to meet because her other half-brother arranged for him to be murdered, and wondered if she should find it awkward to now be related to the one to kill him.

Zuko sent them an irritated look at being interrupted before he continued. "Because of something that happened during the Invasion of the North, it seems touching, or talking to the reincarnation of someone we knew in the last life makes them remember too. Anyone, not just friends, Admiral Zhao was Wen Chao-"

"Was?" asked Ty Lee a little too sweetly.

Zuko smirked at her. "Was," he confirmed. "And some obnoxious Northern Water Tribe idiot turned out to be Jin Zixun."

"Who?" asked Ty Lee in confusion.

Zuko didn't even acknowledge that interruption. "So be on your guard, and Ty Lee, we need to stay away from my 'father'." He said the last word in disgust.

"The Fire Lord?" asked Ty Lin in confusion.

"A cruel leader who thinks his power makes him the best and with the ambition to rule over and crush all those he sees as lesser," Prince Zuko described. "Sound familiar?"

"Ah," said Ty Lee, her face darkening. "Wen Ruohan."

"Our Fire Lord is Sect Leader Wen?!" Ty Lin squeaked in alarm.

"Won't know for sure until I talk to him," Prince Zuko said. "And the last thing I want is to give him back his memories, so I have no desire to do that. Even if he's not, helping someone who is like him makes my skin crawl, so I'm now making my banishment permanent until he's deposed."

"I'll only talk to him if it's to ask how his own flaming fist tastes after I cut it off and cram it down his throat," Ty Lee said in that too-sweet tone again. With her memories regained and her new/old brotherly connection to Zuko, she was no doubt remembering how the Fire Lord burned his face in an entirely new light.

Ty Lin abruptly realized this reunion would be considered treason. But then again, she didn't want to support Wen Ruohan either.

Prince Zuko glanced at Ty Lin, and added, "As far as I know you don't really have an excuse to meet with my father, so you should be safe from triggering anything from him, but you could still trigger others. Be careful, and…" He trailed off and his face took on a softer look than she ever would have expected from him. "... if you find Jin Ling, tell me right away. Please."

Ty Lin let out a slightly hysterical laugh. "You're right, when would I ever meet the Fire Lord? And as for Jin Ling, of course, I'll tell you, but I doubt he'd be happy to see me."

Ty Lee grinned. "You'd be surprised, Lin. My name wasn't the only one we were able to clear. Yours got cleared too."

Ty Lin stared at her, stunned.

What on earth had happened after she'd died?

They ended up talking long into the night, catching Ty Lin up on what happened after Mo Xuanyu's sacrifice and then discussing what they were going to do next.

"I only came here to confirm if you were you or not," Zuko said. "And if you were, drag you back with me. A-Jie wants to see you again, and if you really want to make the Fire Lord choke on his own limbs, working with the Avatar is a good way to do so."

"Absolutely. I'm coming with you, Zuko," Ty Lee said, readily agreeing to leave the circus she'd fought so hard to stay in only hours before.

Ty Lin looked like she didn't know if she should be exasperated that Prince Zuko succeeded where she had failed without even trying.

Zuko seemed surprised by it too, given the way his eyes narrowed looking for the catch. "Just like that?" he asked. "I'd have thought you'd go running off to find your husband instead."

Ty Lin sighed dreamily at the mention. Her expression upon finding out that the Yiling Patriarch had not only been a cut-sleeve like Mo Xuanyu but had managed to land the Hanguang-jun as a husband while in his body had been hilarious.

"But it's Shijie! I can't leave Shijie waiting! Lan Zhan would understand," Ty Lee said like the answer should be obvious. She then huffed a laugh and added, "And of course, I want to find Lan Zhan. But you just said the Avatar kid is heading for Omashu for his earthbending teacher. I guess he hasn't heard Omashu was taken over recently, and Mai's parents were given the honor of being its new governors."

Zuko looked at her blankly. "So?" he asked, wondering what that had to do with anything.

"So," Ty Lee said pointedly, "The Avatar probably won't be there when you get there, since it's not safe. And you said reincarnations seem to have similar personalities. Who do we know who is usually quiet, has a blank expression but beautiful, and comes off as a fuddy-duddy but is actually very passionate?"

Ty Lin looked confused. "Aren't you just describing Mai?" she asked, making it clear she'd never met Lan Zhan as Mo Xuanyu.

Ty Lee gave Zuko a smug look, and he looked horrified.

"No," Zuko said.

"One way to find out," said Ty Lee cheerfully.

"No way, he can't be Mai!" Zuko insisted.

"She could be," said Ty Lee with a frown. "Why are you…" She trailed off as the answer came to her and she threw back her head and laughed. "Oh that's right, you had a crush on her when we were kids. And if she's my husband…"

"Shut up!" Zuko said as Ty Lee continued to laugh. With a scowl, he turned and marched out of the tent. "Meet me and Uncle on the hill with the maple tree tomorrow to leave. Get some sleep, idiot." And with that, he stormed out grumbling that he was already regretting finding them.

It took Ty Lee a long time to stifle her giggles as she lent Ty Lin some sleeping clothes and the two went to bed.

All things considered, it was probably the best reunion Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng had ever had.

Ty Lin woke up the next morning wondering if the night before had been a dream.

But sitting up in bed and seeing Ty Lee packing a travel bag made it clear she hadn't.

Taking the moment to consider her situation, something occurred to Ty Lin.

"I'm a girl now," she whispered in awe.

Ty Lee paused from where she was packing a canteen into her rucksack. "Yeah?" she said, wondering where Ty Lin was going with that. She was a girl now too after all.

"No, don't you get it, I'm a girl now!" Ty Lin said, sitting up excitedly. "I can date boys! I can wear make-up and pretty clothes! Everything I took for granted in this life! I can do all the things that make me happy and no one will call me a dirty cut-sleeve or a lunatic! I can just be me!"

"It wouldn't matter if you were still a cut-sleeve, this world doesn't have the stigma against it that our old one did. And it's looking like I might still be one if Lan Zhan is who I think it is," Ty Lee pointed out. She then looked thoughtful. "Did you… Did you feel more like you should have been a girl in the last life? Should I have been referring to you as Young Maiden Mo instead of Young Master?"

Ty Lin shook her head and beamed. "No, no, I was fine with being a boy then, I just always knew with my interests I would have it easier if I'd been born a girl. But now that I am, I couldn't be happier."

"That's good then," Ty Lee said, before holding up three fingers in a solemn vow. "And I promise you, this life will go better for you than the last one. And I'll be a better sibling to you than Jin Guangyao ever was."

Ty Lin snorted. "That's a low bar," she said. "You're already way better than he ever pretended to be." She then grew nervous. "Do you think he's here somewhere too?"

Ty Lee's expression dimmed. "He could be. Just… be careful. And if you meet him, get as far away from him as possible. Unless you want to come with us. The offer's still open."

Ty Lin shook her head. "No, thank you. This whole trip has been adventure enough for me. I'll be happy to just go home and flirt with boys without worrying they'll be disgusted by me."

"Suit yourself," Ty Lee said with a shrug as she swung her rucksack over her shoulder and headed out of the tent.

But at the entrance, she paused and glanced back. "Oh, before you leave, help yourself to anything in my wardrobe that catches your eye," she said, before dropping her voice to a whisper, "Since I'm about to go commit treason I don't think I'll be coming back."

Ty Lin's eyes lit up, and she eagerly climbed out of bed to hug her sister goodbye before diving into the closet with enthusiasm.

Even several minutes later, she was so wrapped up in trying on flashy costumes and jewelry that she failed to notice the tent opening again until someone called out to her.

"Ty Lee, could that possibly be you," a voice said behind her.

Ty Lin turned, "Oh, I-" she started to say before the words died in her throat at the sight of who was in the entrance of the tent, and once again a flash of recognition burned through her.

'Sorry, Prince Zuko,' Ty Lin thought as she registered what was happening. 'I'm not going to be able to keep those promises. Please don't hurt me.'

Princess Azula, who was once Jin Guangyao, staggered. Because, of course, Jin Guangyao would be Princess Azula. Not only was it one of the worst people he could have become, but once again she had all the power over Ty Lin.

The Princess's eyes widened, then narrowed. "Xuanyu," she said, a cruel smile spreading across her face. "It has been so long."

"Yao-ge," Ty Lin whimpered.

As much as she wanted to take Ty Lee's advice and flee, what good would running do against Princess Azula? Her firebending skills were the stuff of legend. All running would do was get her fried.

"This is certainly an interesting situation, don't you think, Ty Lee," Azula said, enjoying watching her cower. "Here I was tracking a certain traitor, and maybe thinking to recruit you into helping me capture him, but now we find ourselves in this situation." She then smiled in a way that made Ty Lin think she was about to eat her. "Now, being my best friend in this life and my dear little brother in the last, you wouldn't be opposed to explaining just how this happened, would you? And perhaps if you do so well enough, I may even forgive you for bringing back Wei Wuxian last time around."

Ty Lin's mind was racing. Ty Lee. She was still calling her Ty Lee. Like far too many people, Princess Azula had never learned (or cared) to tell the Ty sisters apart. They were too identical for even her brilliant mind to discern the difference (though unlike most she could figure it out given enough time). She had only singled out Ty Lee for her loyalty and superior acrobatics skills. She didn't realize Ty Lee was already gone, and that she had the wrong sister.

And as afraid as she was, there was no way she was letting Jin Guangyao ruin her life. Not again. Nor would she let her take away the fact that she finally had a family member she actually liked. Any way she could sabotage the princess, she would take.

And the princess wouldn't expect it. Not from 'Ty Lee' who was terrible at lying and loyal to a fault. Not from Mo Xuanyu, who she'd thought was broken of any will to resist her. But having spent years in close quarters with Jin Guangyao in their last life taught Mo Xuanyu everything he needed to know to lie convincingly by telling the truth.

Time to take a page out of Nie Huaisang's book and beat her former brother at his own game.

Hatred burned in her gut as she forced herself to prostrate herself in front of her princess. "I apologize if the Yiling Patriarch caused you any trouble," she said fearfully. "I only brought him back to avenge myself against my mother's family. I didn't say anything to him about you."

"No, no, I know. Wei Wuxian would have been more active against me from the start if that were the case. You're as much a victim as I was, weren't you. It turns out Nie Huaisang had more teeth than any of us anticipated, and was long manipulating my demise behind the scenes." Princess Azula said in a voice that promised pain should she ever meet the Head-Shaker in this life.

While it was true Mo Xuanyu hadn't included Jin Guangyao in his revenge wish, it hadn't been because he wasn't against him. He hadn't needed to say anything because Nie Huaisang had promised him on his brother's grave that he would personally ensure Jin Guangyao would suffer for his crimes. Mo Xuanyu had wanted to die long before they'd met, but Nie Huaisang had helped make his sacrifice mean something.

But things were different now. In this life, Ty Lin wanted to live.

Ty Lin braced herself and asked, "You said you were following a traitor. Was it Prince Zuko?"

Princess Azula's eyes snapped to her in interest. "You've seen him?"

"He was here last night," Ty Lin said, making sure her voice quivered fearfully. "He broke into my tent and scared me! I thought he was there to…" She broke off like it was too painful, before continuing, "But when I looked at him I remembered everything."

"But why would Zuko be here?" Princess Azula asked. "Why attack you of all people?"

"He thought I would be Wei Wuxian," she said, quivering. "He wasn't happy to see that I wasn't."

Azula nodded thoughtfully. "I could see how he would make that mistake. You always fashioned yourself after him back then, and have a few similarities now." She then frowned as she realized the implications of Zuko's actions. "Who is Zuko, then, if he is searching for Wei Wuxian?"

Ty Lin made sure she looked as terrified as possible. "The Sandu Shenshou," she said. "I only survived because him killing me would draw too much attention and I no longer cultivate demonically. But he made sure I knew that if I ever started, he would…" She shuddered and couldn't finish, and didn't mention she'd happily start cultivating demonically again if it let her take down the princess.

Princess Azula reached out and patted her on the head condescendingly. "There, there. I won't let him hurt you. You were a far more tolerable sibling than he is."

Ty Lin kept her mouth shut, conscious of the fact that 'more tolerable' meant 'easier to manipulate'.

"And good news. I'll just get rid of him and return to the Fire Nation, no harm no foul," said Princess Azula.

Ty Lin knew full well the princess had intended to do that, memories or no memories, but Ty Lin was quite happy to throw a wrench into that plan.

"YOU CAN'T!" she burst out in a panicked shout.

Princess Azula looked at her suspiciously. "And why not?"

"Because Zuko ordered me to stay away from the Fire Lord in case he can remember too. He's convinced the Fire Lord may be the reincarnation of Wen Ruohan!" Ty Lin explained.

She was inwardly gleeful to watch a rare moment of absolute horror flash across Princess Azula's face.

Ah yes, as the one who had killed Wen Ruohan in their last life, more than anyone else, if Azula awakened his memories she would be dead on the spot, and she knew it too. And while it would be wonderful if that had happened, that would still leave Fire Lord Ozai with his regained memories, and he would be enough trouble to depose already. That, or Azula would somehow manage to kill him which would leave her with the throne, also not a good call all around.

"Then I'll just have to think of a new plan," Azula said, and Ty Lin could practically see the plots forming in her head. If there had been one thing Jin Guangyao had always strived to do, it was to protect himself, no matter who he hurt to do it. And that callousness was sure to stab her in the back once again given enough time.

Princess Azula then turned her smile back onto Ty Lin. "You've been very helpful, Ty Lee," she said. "As a reward, I'm letting you stay here in your happy little circus." Her smile then grew vicious. "But if I find out you have left this place, or said anything to the wrong person, and I will find out, then the Sandu Shenshou will be the very least of your worries." She reached over to place an uncomfortably hot hand on Ty Lin's shoulder. "Am I understood?"

Ty Lin nodded her head rapidly. "Yes, Azula, I understand," she said in her best Ty Lee impression. "Don't worry, I love it here. My aura has never been pinker."

Azula rolled her eyes. "Right," she said dismissively, before turning to leave with a wave and a nonchalant, "Take care."

Ty Lin waited until she was certain she was gone, before peeking out of the tent.

Stationed on either side of the entrance were two Fire Nation guards in full armor, making reaching any chi-blocking points difficult (not that Ty Lin knew chi-blocking herself, that had been her sister's unique thing), and she could see a few more scattered amongst the circus folk, and leaving them all discomfited.

Putting the tent flap back into place, Ty Lin flopped down onto Ty Lee's bed. Well, seems like it's her bed now. Unable to leave without revealing her identity, it looks she's joining the circus after all.

Ty Lin sighed. She'd given Azula the bare minimum information, implied a few things that may cause her to make mistakes, and managed to avoid letting on her identity and that she and Zuko had actually parted on decent terms.

But now she needed to warn Ty Lee that Jin Gaungyao was back and worse than ever. All that smarts and spite placed in the body of a teenage girl fire powers. It was a disaster waiting to happen.

Ty Lin couldn't deny she looked forward to the day Princess Azula crashed and burned. Because that was going to happen, one way or another. She'd make sure of it. She hadn't been there to see her revenge come to fruition in the last life, but she would make sure she would see it in this one.

Jin Guangyao had set up Jin Zixuan to die and ruined Mo Xuanyu, and it seemed even in this life Princess Azula was not changing her ways and was once again plotting to kill her own brother. Ty Lin wondered how she would react to finding out Jin Zixuan had returned too. Probably try to kill him again for good measure, especially if he knew she had orchestrated his last death.

(How would it be to finally meet her half-brother? From what she'd heard, while he'd been arrogant and a poor conversationalist, he'd likely been the best of their family. Well, at least until Jin Ling, given the way Ty Lee and Zuko had talked about him.)

However, with her movements no doubt being monitored, she had little means to contact her sister or make any moves against Azula at this time. All she could do was wait until they reached out to her first or another opportunity presented itself.

Ty Lin sighed but resolved herself.

It wouldn't be long. Ty Lee promised to be a good sister. Good sisters stay in contact. Especially when she hears Ty Lin never left the circus. She would hear from her soon enough.

All she had to do was wait.

A/N One thing I thought would be cool when I started planning was to have one of Ty Lee's sisters be the reincarnation of Mo Xuanyu, as a play on how Mo Xuanyu looks just like Wei Wuxian in most media. Funny thing, I actually put Ty Lin down as a placeholder name when making my notes for the plot, then later looked her sisters up and found out she actually did have a sister named Ty Lin, and she plays the flute. I now have an idea that the rest of their sisters will be reincarnations of other MXTX characters from her other novels, but they won't really play into the story aside from an epilogue chapter. So yeah, we have Wei Wuxian as Ty Lee and Mo Xuanyu as Ty Lin. Ty Lin's learning to never meet your heroes and has a new lease on life, and Ty Lee is grateful to Mo Xuanyu for giving Wei Wuxian a chance at life, but please, sister, don't kill yourself again for me.

As for Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng, I know they never reconciled in the story. But I'm an optimist, and cultivators are supposed to live for a good long while. I like to believe they could have buried the hatchet at some point after the story ended, if only for Jin Ling's sake. Here, they did reconcile at some point in their past life, so now Zuko has two new sisters aside from Azula.

Is anyone surprised Jin Guangyao is Azula? The two best liars and manipulators in their respective series that desired the love and respect from a father who would never give it, and were willing to stab their own brothers in the backs to get it. Yeah, him being Azula was a given. And if it is at all OOC that she didn't realize Ty Lin wasn't Ty Lee, remember, Jin Guangyao famously had a perfect memory and died horrifically, and all that was just shoved into Azula's head at once. She's not at her best right now, but she's not about to show weakness. Ty Lin still sees it, and can't wait to watch her burn. Azula left 'Ty Lee' at the circus to keep Jin Guangyao's return quiet. She doesn't want to risk 'Ty Lee' blabbing or hinting at anything when confronting Zuko. I have a chapter explaining more of her thought process later.
