Incident
"C'mon, Phil." AJ paced in the kitchen back and forth, fidgeting with her hands, hearing every single noise in the house as she prayed and prayed to hear the front door open, "C'mon." She whispered to herself, placing her hands on the kitchen counter.
As soon as she heard the door open, her head shot up, rushing out of the kitchen and taking a deep breath as she saw him.
"Thank God." She sighed, running towards him and wrapping her arms around him tightly as he caught her.
"I'm ok." He whispered, expecting her panic after the day he'd had, "I'm alright." He caressed the back of her head as she pulled back.
"Why didn't you text or call?" She slapped his chest.
"I was a little busy, Ape." Punk nodded, watching her wrap her arms back around him, holding onto him for dear life, "It's all ok. Me and the guys are all safe." He assured her as she nodded.
"Is Dean ok?" AJ asked.
"Yeah." Punk said, "Yeah, we're all ok." He nodded as she pulled back from the hug, drying her tears which she couldn't help pouring down.
"The hospital was just chaos." AJ shook her head, "I don't know how many deaths I called." She placed her hand on her forehead as he nodded, "What the hell went on?"
"They're treating it as a terrorist attack." Punk nodded, "The whole college was up in flames. I… I've never seen anything like it." He shook his head truthfully.
"Are you hurt?" She asked, running her hands up his t-shirt. That was always her indication if he was hurt or not, because if he was she knew she'd feel a bandage, which luckily she didn't.
"No, I'm… honestly, I'm fine." He assured her, "It was just a crazy day." He shook his head, walking over to the stairs and sitting down on the bottom one as she leaned against the wall, "The good news is they got who they suspect is responsible. It looks like he drove a car into some people, crashed into the campus building which set the fire." He nodded.
"God, all those kids." AJ shook her head as Punk nodded, "They were just pilling into the hospital. I couldn't get them into surgery quick enough." She sighed.
"Hey, come here." Punk took her hand and pulled her over as she sat on the stair beside him.
"And I was so worried about you." She hugged into him as he wrapped his arm around her, "Cause I know your job is to put people's safety before yours." She said, tears falling down her cheeks, "I was so scared." She shook her head.
"It's alright." He said softly, "I'm ok. We're both ok. And you did what you could at the hospital, I did what I could." He nodded.
"That doesn't work with situations like this. Losing that many people." She shook her head as he nodded, "You just feel responsible."
"I know." He nodded, "But we did what we could." He shook his head, running his hand through his hair. After a major incident in the city, treated as a terrorist attack, it had affected both of their jobs and knocked them completely on their ass come the end of the day.
"I got home and I hadn't heard from you or heard anything on the news. Renee hadn't heard from Dean." AJ shook her head, "I just couldn't stop thinking about the worst and it was just… I felt like I couldn't breathe, thinking about you not walking in that door…" She panicked.
"I did. I'm ok." He assured her, calming her down as he wrapped his arm around her tightly, kissing her head.
"Are you sure you're not hurt?" She looked at him.
"I'm sure." He nodded, "Damage was… mostly done by the time we got there. And when we got in it was just carnage. Good news is that majority managed to evacuate before it got really bad. But… majority doesn't mean all." He shook his head.
"It just sucks even more when you know it didn't have to happen." AJ shook her head, running her hand through her hair as Punk nodded.
"I think I'm gonna take a shower. I took one at the station but… I don't know, I feel like I need another one." He shook his head as she nodded.
"Ok. Ok, I'll be up soon." She nodded, leaning in and kissing him softly. The panic of never being able to kiss those lips again was very real and very scary. It wasn't her doubt in his role as a firefighter but the seriousness of the incident that had taken place, knowing he was on the frontline with it. She couldn't explain how relieved she was to see him.
Punk headed upstairs, stripping out of his clothes and starting the shower in their en suite bathroom in their bedroom. He just felt like it was the only thing that could waken him up, help clear his head from the nightmare day they all had.
He stepped into the shower under the hot water, letting it run through his hair and past his face. His job came with tough days all the time, but days like these were the toughest, especially seeing his wife's face when he got home, seeing how worried she was, how also physically and emotionally drained she was from the chaos in the hospital.
He continued to let the water run over him, standing directly under the stream when he heard the shower doors opening, turning around and seeing his wife stepping in, naked of course.
"You didn't believe me when I said I wasn't hurt, did you?" He smiled a little.
"I just wanted to see for myself." AJ nodded, "Do the turn." She insisted as he nodded, turning around for her, doing a three sixty and turning back to face her.
"Am I clear?" He asked as she nodded.
"You're clear." She smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck, "I've never been as scared as I was today. Ever." She shook her head, looking up at him, "To think of you not coming through that door-"
"I did. You don't have to think about that." He shook his head, tilting her chin up to look at him, "Don't torture yourself."
"It's just… it's never been that serious before." She shook her head, "And it made me so scared. Made me realise how terrifying it would be to not have you around."
"Well lucky for you, I'm not going anywhere." He nodded, leaning down and kissing her softly, the softness turning into desperation as he backed her up against the shower wall, hooking her leg up against his hip as he grabbed at her thigh and kissed her deeper.
"Fuck." AJ moaned as he kissed down to her neck, grazing her nails down his shoulders, feeling his hand drop her leg and instead make its way down to her folds, parting them and finding her clit, stroking it in circles as AJ rolled her head back against the tiles.
"Fuck, baby." AJ moaned, biting her lip and rolling her head back at the feeling.
"Look at me." Punk said, tilting her head towards his direction, looking into her eyes as he touched her below, circling his fingers steadily around her clit as she looked into his eyes, panting louder the closer she got to her release.
"I'm gonna cum." She nodded, swallowing in her dry throat from all the panting and moaning, grabbing his arm which was extending down between her legs, her body going rigid against the wall as she felt the warmth and the pleasure take over her body.
Punk had gotten hard just watching her, so he lifted her up, pushing her against the wall as her legs circled his waist, letting him pierce through her like a sword as she moaned out, so glad to be full of him, and have him so close.
"Fuck." Punk moaned, running his wet hands through her wet hair, beginning to move himself back and forth inside of her as she clutched at his neck.
"Just like that." AJ nodded, pressing her forehead against his, lips connecting passionately as he continued to thrust into her, "Fuck, that's so good." She moaned, rolling her head completely back as he kissed her throat, continuing to thrust into her, causing her to slide up the wall every time he thrust, gripping a little tighter to each other because of the water, and because they needed to.
"Do you need to go back to the college? To do a report?" AJ asked, later that night, lying in bed in their dark bedroom. Her hair was still damp from the shower on her pillow as she lay with her knuckles grazing his chest back and forth.
"Yeah, tomorrow morning." Punk said, "I think we'll be able to tell what started the fire. Had to be something to do with the car." He nodded, "We wanted to do it tonight but the police shut us down, wanted the area evacuated as soon as possible."
"Well that's understandable." AJ said.
"You think the hospital will still be busy tomorrow?" He asked.
"Yeah, a lot of people went to ICU." She said, "I don't work around there but I might be placed there just for the day to help. Part of being on residency, you can just get picked up and dropped wherever the hospital needs you." She nodded, "But I'm happy to help in whatever way I can."
"Three days in a row now I said I'd go see my mom and we've both not got the chance." He shook his head.
"Hey you can't beat yourself up about it. These things happen. Things like tonight… you can't beat yourself up about it over this." She shook her head, "We can visit her tomorrow. That's a promise." She said as he nodded.
"She won't know who we are. She didn't know when she was at the wedding." Punk shook his head, "Was it wrong to have her there?"
"What do you mean?" AJ looked at him.
"To have her out of the care home and in a place where she probably didn't know where she was, or who she was with." Punk sighed, "Was that just me being selfish?"
"No… she was doing ok then. Not great but she was… she was ok. And she would have wanted to be there. She absolutely would have. So no, I don't think it was selfish." She shook her head as he nodded.
"I'm so tired." He realised, "Felt like today lasted a whole week." He shook his head. He was glad he could just lay with her and talk until they fell asleep. Like best friends.
"Yeah, I know." AJ agreed, curling into him, "Hopefully tomorrow is a better day." She said as he nodded, kissing her head as they both drifted off to sleep almost immediately.
