Locked Down

"Shauna, she better be out of this building and far away from here." Punk said in a worried tone as he passed Shauna in the hallway of the hospital.

"Brooks, I got an ICU wing on fire!" Shauna yelled back, frantically passing by him as Punk made his way to where the fire was.

The hospital was chaos. They didn't know how bad the fire was until they arrived, and it was bad. An entire ICU wing had caught fire which had patients being moved urgently, which wasn't easy to do with everyone running around and panicking anyway, doctor included.

Their job was to evacuate the area as soon as possible, and work on the fire, but Punk just couldn't be in the hospital without worrying about where AJ and Renee were. In his brain he prayed to god they were outside and had left the area, but he knew what kind of people they were, and he knew they'd be first to help those in need, and that scared him.

"Ok, there is still way too many people moving around." Frank shook his head. For this type of incident, multiple truck load of firefighters arrived at the scene, all doing their part to put the fire out with as little to no causalities as possible.

"Do you think they're still here?" Dean asked Punk.

"I don't know." Punk shook his head worriedly, watching people running by him, "We need all of these people out right now." He nodded, growing more concerned with the more people he was seeing still around the area towards the fire.

"Once everyone is out, put the place in a lockdown." Frank nodded.

"I don't think that's a good idea." Punk admitted, "We can't account for staff moving around-"

"It's chiefs call." Frank told him as Punk sighed to himself.

"Alright, let's get these people out of here." Punk nodded, running down the corridor, heading to clear the area which the fire had started, not risking anyone getting too close. But there was a lot of people.

"April, you really should get out of here." Renee nodded, looking up at AJ who stood worriedly.

"No, I need to make sure all the patients are out of ICU." AJ shook her head, looking on at Renee who was stitching up a man's leg on the floor who had fell on the panic of trying to get out of the hospital. There was a lot of blood and towels on the floor from the deep gash.

"I can't feel my leg." The man admitted to them drowsily as Renee looked up at AJ.

"He lost a lot of blood." Renee said quietly but worriedly.

"Ok, keep stitching. I'm gonna go get more towels and see how the ICU is doing." AJ nodded.

"April, it's on fire!" Renee yelled, "And you're pregnant. You need to leave right now. You have no idea how much smoke is probably already in the air right now." She warned, "Please, just get out of here."

"I'm getting you more towels." AJ made clear as Renee sighed, crouched down on the ground trying to stitch the man's leg up, watching ICU beds get wheeled by her frantically in the hopes to transfer patients to safety. It was hard to believe this was really happening.

AJ ran down the hall, pushing open the swing doors as she saw the smoke immediately, realising it had gotten so much worse since she was last down. She ran down towards the linen cupboard, making her way inside and grabbing some towels.

She began to emerge from the cupboard when someone ran past her, bumping into her harshly as she fell back into the linen cupboard, falling down and bumping her head into unconsciousness as the door closed behind her.

Meanwhile the fire department were working hard on getting everyone out of the hospital and more so out of the wing which the fire was thriving in. They helped doctors transfer patients from the ICU, clearing it out of patients and focusing on the remaining doctors, urging them to quickly vacate the area.

"Renee!" Dean called, rushing down the corridor where he saw Renee crouched down, appearing to be stitching a man's leg with blood around her.

"Dean, I think it's an artery… it won't stop bleeding." Renee panicked.

"Why are you still here?" Dean asked with frustration. In a selfish moment, he just wanted her to leave the area and be safe. Knowing she was right here, in danger, couldn't allow him to do his job properly.

"I couldn't leave him." Renee said, "He can't walk."

"Ok, where can I find a wheelchair?" Dean asked her, "Quickly." He panicked.

"Uh… down there, there should be one in a room." She pointed down past the nurses station, "I think the bleeding is stopping." She nodded positively as Dean ran away in search of a wheel chair.

He found one, quickly getting it back to Renee and helping the man on the floor into the wheelchair.

"Ok, take him and get out of here. Do not come back." Dean warned her, "Where is AJ? Is she out?" He nodded.

"Uh… n-no… no she went to get towels." Renee said worriedly, "No, I think she's still in here." She nodded nervously.

"Ok, we'll find her." Dean nodded, "Just take him and get out, ok?" He said as she nodded, "Ok." He said, kissing her quickly as she took off down the corridor.

Dean carried on down the corridor, walking through the swing doors, finding Punk and grabbing him aside.

"I can't find AJ. She must be outside." Punk nodded to him, "Did you get Renee?"

"Yeah she said AJ went to get towels." Dean said, "I… She can't still be here, right?" He shook his head. The ICU wing was now covered in smoke, the flames fast approaching around the wing.

"N-No… no, she can't be." Punk shook his head, "We've cleared the whole area." He nodded firmly.

"Ok." Dean nodded to Punk who looked at him.

"Dean-"

"She can't be in here, ok? There's no one here." Dean assured as Punk nodded. There was no way his wife was in the ICU wing when it looked the way it did.

"Can we lock this place down now? We've evacuated the whole place." Frank approached them, "We gotta get this thing out now." He nodded.

"Yeah, let's do it." Dean nodded.

"Double check from coming in the other side. I'll check this side." Punk told them, running back down to one of the entrances to the ICU.

Locking down meant doors would seal shut, not giving the fire chance to meet more oxygen, containing it and letting them put it out quickly before it got even more out of control.

Punk looked through the windows of the doors to the ICU, seeing nothing but a dead corridor, nodding to himself and making his way back down when he noticed what looked like a cupboard door wedged open, the thing keeping it wedged open, appearing to be someone's foot.

He opened up the door further, feeling his heart sink to the bottom of his stomach as he saw AJ lying on the ground, eyes shut and body limp.

"April." Punk panicked, sinking down to his knees beside her, "April, wake up." He took her cheeks, "April, come on." He begged, not believing this was actually happening, not believing they had really evacuated the whole place, besides one person, his person.

"Ok, I… you need out of here." He got back to his feet, reaching for the door handle when he heard a locking noise come from the door, "No… No, please don't tell me-" He reached for the handle, pulling at it as he realised the place had been put into lockdown.

"Hey!" Punk yelled, banging at the door, "Hey, don't do that! Come on, I need out of here!" He yelled loudly, looking back over at AJ who lay, not moving.

He crouched back to his knees, taking her pulse, struggling to find it as he began to panic even more than he was.

"No, you are not doing this to me." He shook his head in disbelief, taking his jacket off, starting CPR on her desperately, "You're not doing this to me, April. Come on." He begged, doing compressions on her heart between blowing into her mouth, "Both of you are not doing his." He shook his head.

It was hard to stay calm. In any other person he'd given CPR to in the past, which was a lot of people, he stayed very calm and concentrated, but this was his wife and unborn child lying in front of him.

"I need help in here!" Punk yelled, desperate for someone to hear but he knew it was a long shot.

"Come on, April." Punk groaned, "I'm showing you the nursery tonight. Come on." He mumbled, continuing with compressions…
