"Oh, Matteo… I know." AJ frowned, bouncing the baby boy lightly in her arms as she sat outside the hospital, "I know those shots are terrible." She cooed softly, "Mommy wants to beat those nurses for making you upset." She nodded to him, taking his hat off and kissing his head.

She didn't want to take him straight back to the car when he was still crying, so she figured sitting outside for some fresh air would help calm him down in her arms. She hated that he was so disturbed by his first set of shots. She wanted to cry when he started crying in the nurses room.

"Oh, you're so brave." AJ smiled, stroking his cheek softly as she got him to quieten down eventually, "You're such a brave boy." She nodded.

"April?"

AJ lifted her head when she heard her name, an uneasy feeling in her stomach developing as she recognised the voice. She wasn't sure how to act or what she was supposed to say. She was hoping this encounter would never happen. She never thought it would.

"H-Hey." AJ looked over at Jason who walked towards her.

"I thought that was you." Jason smiled a little as she nodded, looking at him, "You… You look great." He nodded.

"You do too." AJ nodded politely. She was so happily moved on, that part of her wasn't really nervous to meet him. Not really. She thought she would be but she was so content in her life with her husband and her son, this man was simply just a part of her past that she'd very much moved on from. Being civil and mature seemed like the right thing to do.

"You had a baby." Jason nodded, "Or you've… just stolen one from this place?" He teased as AJ smiled a little.

"No, he's mine." AJ said, "Matteo."

"He's adorable." Jason smiled, looking on at Matteo, "So are you working or-"

"No, I'm still on maternity leave. He was getting his shots." AJ explained, "I should be back to work soon, though."

"I bet you miss it." Jason nodded. He still remembered everything about her, even after the years that had passed. He still memorized the woman she was.

"I do but… it's a good excuse to take some time off I guess." AJ said as Jason nodded, "What are you doing here? Are you ok?" She wondered politely. Him being around the hospital had her questioning some things.

"Oh, I'm fine. My mom is in for an x-ray on her ankle. She fell last night." Jason explained.

"That's too bad." AJ said.

"Yeah she was too stubborn to call me last night so she just waited in pain until she called me this morning." Jason shook his head.

"Mothers." AJ nodded as Jason just smiled.

"It was really good to see you." Jason told her as she looked over at him, "I know the last time we were in the same space, things really didn't go how I thought they were gonna go." He nodded, "But… you seem really happy."

"I am." AJ nodded, "And I hope you are too." She said.

"Yeah, I'm doing ok." Jason shrugged, "Seriously, it was really good to see you." He nodded to her as she smiled.

"You too." She nodded, watching as he walked off into the hospital, looking back down to Matteo who was now a lot more peaceful.

"He was… overly nice." AJ said, doing laps of the kitchen where Punk was sitting doing some paper work, "It didn't seem fake but it just… didn't seem like him." She thought about it.

"He's probably moved on." Punk nodded, trying not to think about it too much, "It's been almost three years and he's been out of Chicago. He's probably got a whole different life now." He said as AJ nodded.

"Yeah there didn't seem like there was any tension the way I thought it would be. He actually seemed genuinely happy for me." AJ nodded.

"Well I don't know about genuine." Punk scoffed.

"Stop." AJ squeezed his neck playfully as she walked behind him.

"The guy was being kind. As he should be. There's nothing more to it." Punk said as AJ nodded, making herself some coffee.

"Yeah, I know. It was just really weird seeing his face after all this time." AJ said as Punk turned around.

"Bring it all back?" He wondered. He didn't have an ex who he'd walked out on their wedding day, so he didn't really know how it felt for her to see him again. He did his best to understand, though.

"A little bit." AJ nodded, "If anything it just made me think about how I… I could have actually married him." She shook her head, "I'm sure eventually there would be the demise of the relationship but I could have." She nodded, raising her eyebrows at the thought, "I'm just super glad I didn't." She laughed a little.

"I am too." Punk agreed as she smiled over at him.

"What are you even doing?" She asked curiously.

"Just some reports I didn't get finished at the station." He told her as she took her coffee over and sat down at the table with him.

"I forget you have to do this." AJ admitted, taking one of the reports and reading it, "You cut two people out of a car accident this morning?" She asked him as Punk nodded.

"Yeah, they were in bad shape." Punk nodded, "Car was completely mangled." He said.

"What were the injuries?" AJ asked curiously, reading the rest of the report.

"No idea. Not my field of work." He said, "EMT's took them to the hospital as soon as we got them out. I just know it didn't look good." He told her.

"Damn I miss working with injured people." AJ nodded, taking a sip of her coffee.

"You're very strange." Punk said as she nodded, "So my boy was not a fan of the shots?" He asked.

"Oh, he hated it. I hated it." AJ shook her head, "I wanted to beat the nurse." She nodded as he chuckled.

"That probably wouldn't have been good idea." He shook his head, "You were probably in more pain than he was." He assured her.

"Oh, I know." AJ sighed, "I'm gonna be a mess when he tries to learn how to ride a bike. You can deal with that situation." She shook her head stressfully as he chuckled, "Cause if he falls off it he'll cry and he'll have cut knees and it's just… it all sounds stressful." She shook her head as Punk chuckled.

"You can't go all worried mom on me all the time." Punk scoffed, "He's gonna be running around with cut knees all the time. That's how you know a kid is healthy." He nodded.

"You and him are gonna give me a heart attack." AJ scoffed as Punk chuckled.

"Yes we are." Punk smiled proudly, "Ok, I think these are good to go." He nodded to himself, bunching all of the paper work together as AJ smiled watching him sit them at the end of the table, "Hopefully I don't forget them in the morning." He mumbled to himself.

"You're adorable." She smiled as he turned to her.

"Adorable?" He laughed a little, "Come on, you can't call me adorable." He scoffed.

"You are." She smiled.

"Come here and I'll show you how adorable I am." He nodded as she smiled, getting up and making her way over to him, sitting down on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"You know what I thought about today? After seeing Jason?" She asked him, tracing her finger down the corner of his mouth.

"What?" He smiled.

"How glad I am to be going home to you." She nodded as he smiled.

"That's good to know." He smiled, pressing his lips against hers as she cupped his face, deepening the kiss as he picked her up and sat her on the kitchen table as she pulled at the bottom of his t-shirt, ripping it off over his head and grinning as she reattached her lips back to his.

"I want you to fuck me on this table." She whispered in his ear, kissing down his neck as he peeled her t-shirt from her, leaning his forehead against hers and kissing her as he began to take her jeans off, pulling them down as she lifted her hips for him to pull them all the way off.

It didn't take long before he was inside her, her arms giving out as she lay her back on the table, her legs wrapped around his hips as he thrust into her, rocking her body every time he thrust, feeling her grab his arms and moan with an arch in her back. It only told him to keep doing what he was doing.

"You can tell Phil." Renee nodded.

"No, you can tell April. It's her mom and her ex." Dean justified, sitting at the bar with Renee after work again.

"But Phil is your brother." Renee tried to counter.

"April is your best friend and work colleague." Dean turned to her.

"I'll do whatever you want in bed if you tell them instead of me." She smiled as Dean scoffed, taking a sip of his drink and turning back to her.

"Whatever I want?" He asked.

"Whatever you want." Renee nodded as Dean thought about it, shaking his head.

"No, you can't use sex to get out of this." Dean pointed, "This is April's mom and her ex. You should tell her." He made clear as Renee sighed, "Maybe we're just being over dramatic. Maybe… Maybe they just bumped into each other. Maybe it's nothing to worry about."

"Oh, please. Her mom would never voluntarily come to a place like this." Renee shook her head.

"But maybe it was just… a friendly catch up? They're allowed to still be friends with each other." Dean shrugged.

"They weren't friends. They bonded over controlling AJ." Renee shook her head, "So no, to me this doesn't feel like a good thing. Her mom shows up wanting to be number one grandma, and then Jason comes back to town?" She shook her head.

"Did they really control her or… did they just have strong opinions? There's a difference." Dean said.

"They controlled her. Trust me." Renee shook her head, "Come on, you know they did. She almost got married to Jason because her mom manipulated her into it." She said as Dean nodded as he remembered, "They just constantly took advantage of her and I hate the idea of them… meeting up together. I don't care what it's about. It just… it makes me nervous." She told him, taking a gulp of her wine as Dean sighed.

"Ok so you need to tell April. I'm not telling Phil for him to then tell April. You just need to sit down with her and tell her yourself." Dean said, "Go out to lunch, have a day out, be there for her as a friend and just tell her what Kat told us."

"And then what? Watch her freak out?" Renee sighed, "Maybe I just shouldn't say anything."

"No, you should." Dean said.

"I just think her mom is bad news." Renee turned to him, "April's pretty private person but she told me some things, things from her childhood that her mom would do. Near psychotic if you ask me." She nodded.

"So you gotta tell her." Dean said as Renee nodded.

"I'll see her tomorrow. I need to get drunk first." Renee nodded, taking another sip of her wine as Dean wrapped his arm around her waist, giving her a reassuring squeeze.
