This has been one that I've had in my mind for a few years now. As far as document history goes, this one has been floating around since 2014. So, I had a question that I wanted to ask myself: what if Harry had a twin sister but didn't know who she was? I know that this has been done to death in some fandoms, but I wanted to take a crack at this with a slight twist. That being that the sister is the adopted sister in the Carter family and much younger sister to Sam Carter.
Looking through the notes I've had on this over the years that I've slowly added to as well as removed from, here's what I've been able to gather:
The Potters have fraternal twins, a boy, and a girl. The girl is a squib and the boy is Harry. They treat her alright as any parent would treat a child. Rumors start that the Potters are going to be attacked. Sirius takes it upon himself to hide his goddaughter overseas and does so on the front porch of the Carter household where they proceed to adopt her. Seeing his leaving, Pettigrew reports this to his master who proceeds in his assault on the Potter home proceeding in the events that lead to the books. The girl is named Kate due to the note that Sirius was going to leave getting lost. She grows up in a loving home and is sent to a boarding school in high school for children of high-ranking people as Jacob is a General. She goes on a student exchange program during her senior year (a year after the Battle for Hogwarts) where she meets her brother for the first time.
Around this time she becomes aware of her sister's work due to Jacob. Is discovered she has the ATA gene and is allowed to join the SGC as a scientist. This is the general plot outline. At the end I'll have a more "dedicated" list of important dates that will need to be kept in mind should I continue to write this. As far as I'm aware, this story is unique in the sense of I did not make this based on any other person's story. Now, whether someone has come up with an idea similar to this, I do not know since I haven't sought out any SG1 fics for a long time. So, with that being said, let's get this show on the road.
Title: [undecided]
Rating: T?
Pairing: None planned/undecided though I am favorable to Sam and Jack as they certainly do have chemistry.
Summary: [Not final] There once was a wizard who killed a dark lord after trials and tribulations. One alternate universe over there's a slight twist to that tale. One involves a set of twins, one to begin his journey as a wizard and the other who will take another path.
Disclaimer: I own nothing other than my copy of MS Word and my desktop. Stargate belongs to MGM/Universal and Harry Potter to JK Rowling. I only own the unique aspects of this story's plot. See the forward for the full disclaimer.

James Potter was a proud father. His wife gave birth to twins, a boy, and a girl. They were two happy, healthy infants that liked to cry at ungodly hours of the night as infants are wont to do. Despite all the annoyances that the couple would have to put up with in this early stage of life, at a point it would all be worth it. It had been several months since their birth and the couple had settled into a new routine. Instead of wild nights of sex after surviving yet another encounter with the Dark Lord's forces which turned into runs to the local grocer at 3 am for strange foodstuffs, the two spent shifts of waking up, changing diapers, and putting the children back to sleep while operating on hours of sleep at a time.
Today was a normal day, despite the couple taking the twins to the hospital for a routine exam. As this went on, James observed the slight worry on the mediwitch's face, something that he only caught due to his law enforcement training. He didn't say anything but kept it in the back of his mind until she was done.
"So, how are they?" James asked as the twins lay babbling in the cribs provided by the examination room. The mediwitch paused, searching for the right words.
"Is something wrong with our children?" Lily asked calmly, though James could tell she was on the verge of potentially breaking down.
"They're fine, physically that is," the witch finally said, breaking the uncomfortable silence.
"But…?" James trailed.
"Your son appears to be normal in every way for an infant. Every diagnostic spell tells me that he'll grow into a healthy wizard in due time. However, your daughter is a different story." Neither parent interrupted, allowing the witch to finish. "There is no spark of magic inside her." Both parents were silent at this news. "I'll let you discuss this news in private," she said as she left the room, closing the door behind her.
"Our daughter's a squib," James said plainly.
"And?" Lily pointed to him quickly.
"And that means that it will be solely on Harry when he becomes older to continue on the line of Potter politically."
"And what of our daughter?" her anger was almost at a boiling point.
"And nothing. She's a mundane child like that of your sister. She may not have the spark of magic inside her, but she's still our child. We'll treat her no different than someone of our blood."
Lily was silent, her rage subsided. "There's a possibility she may become resentful, jealous even of her brother."
"That's a possibility that may happen. Magic is a gift, and not everyone is blessed with it."
"I won't let her end up like me and Petunia."
He wrapped his arms around his wife and held her close. "We'll deal with that as that time comes."
Months passed. James went to work as he always did and when it came time to fight off the Dark Lord's men, he did so with great ferocity. After all, he had a wife and children to return home to at the end of the day. Soon enough, it became routine. Wake up, kiss the wife and kids goodbye, work, fight, return home, and sleep. Repeat day in and day out.
But tonight was a different story, at their door was the venerable Albus Dumbledore.
"Professor," James greeted the elderly man on his doorstep, "what are you doing here this late?"
He took off his hat as he stepped forward. "I do wish I were here on better circumstances, may I come in?" James nodded and let the man in, closing the door behind him.
"James who-?" Lily asked as they walked into the living room. "Professor, what are you doing here?"
He took off his hat as he took a seat at the table, to which James and Lily mirrored him. "I have urgent news that must be shared with you two which could not wait until the next Order meeting this week. There has been a prophecy."
"A prophecy?" Lily asked.
Dumbledore nodded. "This evening, I was the witness of a prophecy that I believe surrounds your son."
"What was it?"
"'The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies...' so the seer said."
James, ever the skeptic on anything seer related asks, "What makes you think this involves our son?"
"The prophecy was particular about the pronouns in question, meaning only a son. And there are only two couples and two children that this could refer to. Young Harry-."
"And Neville Longbottom, son of Alice and Frank," James concluded to which Dumbledore nodded in confirmation.
"Thrice defied?" Lily asked, "I thought we only came in contact with him twice?"
"When your head of house," Dumbledore nodded to James, "declined his offer to join his forces, that counted as once for the both of you."
"I see…"
"So, what now?" James asked.
"The reason this could not wait for the next meeting is that the prophecy was overheard by one of the Dark Lord's agents. He will know soon. Therefore, you must go into hiding."
"What would you recommend?"
"A Fidelius charm would suffice on your home and would keep it hidden from the Dark Lord and his forces."
"That would require us to choose a Secret Keeper," Lily chimed in.
"Indeed, it would. You would need to choose someone of great character and fortitude in case they are discovered. Your sworn brother would meet that criterion, would he not?" Dumbledore asked. James knew that he was referring to Sirius Black. The man was his brother in all but blood (or some blood if you went back multiple generations thanks to a maternal relative in the Black family tree married off to one of the Potters).
"He would," James trailed in thought.
Dumbledore stood up and put his hat back on. "I will not ask you for details on what you intend to do as the fewer people that know, the better it can be hidden."
"You're leaving, professor?" Lily asked.
He nodded, "Indeed. You are the first couple I visited this night. The Longbottoms still need to be informed of this prophecy."
"I see," James said as he stood up. "Please, allow me to see you out."
James walked the elderly professor to the door and closed it after he left. Sitting back down at the table, Lily spoke. "Now what?"
"We plan."
And so, plans were made. Immediately Sirius was contacted and while they brought up the idea of the Fidelius to him, he countered stating that he was the obvious choice. James and him were thick as thieves throughout school and were borderline inseparable. All of Lily's friends were out as well, as she had none close enough that she could truly trust that wasn't muggleborn as the Dark Lord would have a prime target placed on them. And so, it came to be decided that Peter Pettigrew would be their secret keeper with Sirius being the public face to draw attention from the skittish, cowardly man.
Secondly, it was decided that Sirius would take their daughter far away. In the eyes of the Dark Lord, she was a failure in magic and would only be served to be exterminated this early in her life. So, they left it to him to figure out where to hide her.
In the time that Sirius was away, James and Lily placed their home under the charm where it was hidden from all who didn't know of its whereabouts. Sirius watched many people from afar using many hidden tomes in the Black Manor and found one couple in the United States. So, he stowed away on an 'aeroplane' with the Potter daughter and left her on the doorstep of the couple he had sought out. He stayed hidden in his Grim animagus form and waited for the couple to take the girl inside. When they did, he left and used an Obliviate on himself to forget where he stashed the daughter.
Unfortunately, he also Obliviated the location of a note which would tell him who and where she was hidden.
That same night as Sirius returned to the British Isles, the Potters were attacked and little Harry was left an orphan, Sirius was arrested on two counts of murder and one of attempted murder on top of a dozen muggles in the neighborhood that the Potters were in. No one knew of the Potter daughter's whereabouts, in fact, no one knew she existed.
Meanwhile, at the Carters, one Jacob Carter and his wife spent the next 48 hours searching for the parents of the girl left on their doorstep. When no leads were found, the couple elected to adopt the toddler as their own giving their Samantha a younger sister. In doing so, with no name to call her, decided to name her Katelyn. And unlike her barely remembered brother who she only caught glimpses at in dreams, she would live a completely normal life.
That is, until it wasn't.

Katelyn Carter was your average seventeen-year-old, almost eighteen-year-old, girl. She liked fashion and boys. But she really loved science and culture. Growing up, her older sister Samantha was a large influence in her life. While Quantum Physics was a bit out of her wheelhouse, she loved to hear her sister prattle on about every little detail to the point where it became techno-babble. While her father tried to be around them, he was always sort of absent, it didn't help that he was a General in the Air Force, and his wife, her mother, died suddenly and he threw himself into his work.
When that happened, the family grieved in different ways. Sam was off at the Air Force Academy at that time, so it was just her and her father then and she was just starting secondary school. Jacob enrolled her at a private high school that served as a boarding school for rich and powerful elites out in New York. The family was estranged, but they did still share letters and calls, and later emails when they became more popular as a technology.
For her senior year, Katelyn was given a choice of what she wanted to do, so, she went to London as an exchange student and stayed with a host family as she went to school during the week and explored Europe during the weekend and long holidays.
Katelyn was different from her sister and she knew it. Different facial features, different hair, and eye color. The only thing she had in common with her family was the last name of Carter and a love of science. She had red hair and green eyes as opposed to her sister's blonde hair and blue eyes. It was eventually revealed to her that she had been adopted and despite efforts to find her birth family, they could not find them. But this revelation didn't change anything in the grand scheme of things.
Katelyn sat in a café in the middle of London drinking a coffee. As she did, she noticed a boy with black hair, green eyes, and glasses. Unlike other times when boys looked at her and she either felt repulsion or attraction, this one was different. He was standing with two other people, a boy and a girl who happened to look like they were in a relationship as those two were holding hands, but the boy looking at her was alone. This boy felt familiar but she didn't know why. Before she could speculate on it further, he walked over to her.
"Do I… know you?" he asked.

Harry didn't know why he went to London after his internship for the day ended. Usually, he just went home or spent time with Ginny in one of the many magical communities. But today was different, on a whim, he joined Hermione and Ron in walking down to a coffee shop that Hermione frequented during her own internship at the Ministry under Madam Bones. As they stood in line, Ron spoke up.
"Hey, mate, that girl looks a lot like your mom," Ron said unexpectedly as he nodded toward a girl sitting at a table reading a book. A coffee sitting on said table. "Hey, what are you-?" Ron asked as Harry appeared to move on autopilot.
"Hi," Harry said to the girl.
"Hello?" she replied in a distinctive not-British accent.
"I feel like I know you from somewhere."

In doing so with this, I have set up some absolutes for background reasons. The first is that the books will be completely unchanged in HP lore. Harry goes on his own adventure and finds himself. SG-1 remains unchanged in the early seasons due to Katelyn not being involved at all early on. Some people may not like this, and I get it. But this concept is working based upon the original timelines, that being that SG-1 takes place after Harry's Hogwarts education and Voldemort. Now, the only thing that I do not have decided is the extent that Harry will be involved in the Stargate side of things. I mention the Atlantis expedition there at the end of the important dates, and I think this is where I'm going to have the story resume after the pilot ends here if I were to continue it. After all, it'd be no fun reading through a retelling of all of the books which aren't going to change on top of unchanged episodes of Stargate except where Jacob is saved from his cancer via the Tok'ra. Outside of this, I am unsure where to go though I am heavily leaning towards Atlantis being the staging ground of the story should it continue. While this story has been floating in the back of my head for almost 9 years at this point, I don't know if I'll finalize it or not into an actual fic.
On to real life stuff. So, Shot Show happened and PSA is apparently going to be coming out with a reproduction Stg-44 in common calibers. I might have my eye on it (totally going to get it if they do release it). Holosun has a new thermal red dot coming out though oddly it only works up to 68 meters which is an odd choice. Also there was a bullpup revolver, lolwut? Also, the brace ruling for pistol braces happened and I'm a bit opinionated on it. Thinking of a 300BLK build eventually, but we'll see; the #pewlife be an expensive one, friends. Finally worked through both Yakuza 3 and 4 over the break from my last chapter here so I'm on to Yakuza 5; it is superior in almost every way than 3 and 4. Hopefully I can work through 5 and 6 so I can move on to Judgement, still have yet to beat Persona 5 Royal, so that's on my to-do list. But on to fic things.
I have a new idea that was come up with by another user, requiring me to finish both Judgement and Lost Judgement; so, it may be a while before that one hits this repository. I have 2 "new" lewdfics dropping soon as the time limit the person who commissioned them has for exclusivity is ending soon, so those will be up before next month's end, maybe by the end of this month. There was a Yakuza fic crossed over with Harry Potter that I had started writing the concept of but didn't know what to do with it, now that I'm in the thick of Yakuza 5 and know how the story ends for Kiryu overall, I think I know how I want to proceed. Early on there will be minor divergences from canon, but later on, mostly in 5 and 6, there will be major divergences though the core storyline will remain on track (same beats overall). This one is still very much a work in progress. I have also mentioned previously a couple of Fate fics, these are still being worked on. I finally got the "isekai" moment written, now I can reuse that specific scene as my jumping off point to head straight into the meat of the ideas as they both have the same concept behind it as the starting point. I do have a couple of more oneshot ideas, but whether or not they'll drop soon is up in the air. The continuation of that Star Wars/Harry Potter idea is still in development hell as I do want to release it all in one go like the previous one; I've hit some inspiration roadblocks despite having a (literally drawn) roadmap for it.
But that's all I have for this time around, see you in whatever I decide to put out next.
